In the not too distant future, of course, there was a new turning point in the development of conflict. Nuclear devices had been set aside after the creation of the World Treaty Organisation (W.T.O.), dismantled and thrown away for the preparation of a new era, one that was to house a city. There was a city built to connect Egypt to Libya. Massive in size, it stretched across where a line used to have been drawn on maps. The borders were completely removed, due to the size of this settlement. It was a project, a leap forward, in the unification of mankind. A large city, where anyone could be accepted without the ideals of oppression. Set inside the desert, it needn't to make room inside the larger countries. To boost the economy of the African countries, it was to be a masterpiece, a refuge for many of those in need. Having capabilities to house, educate and employ millions upon millions, many sought to see this as a bright future for the human race, especially after the previous decades of treason, civil war and tensions between global superpowers. This was the city of Messla, named after the Libyan designer and genius who headlined after leading the operation for its construction.
Well, it was supposed to be grand. The size of it was immense, yes...But then it split. Where once a border was, another forged. Why so, might be asked? Well, like any other time in the human's existence, they always found a way to go up against one another. This time, Messla was the catalyst for this disagreement. Certain super-powers started to question the implications of their designs. Which all started with Fredric Chemau, a French spokesman for a protesting organisation that had recently committed to rioting across the European connectivity. He claimed that the City was a way to lure in the problems of the world, to give them an excuse to not whine and to not need the assistance. It was pampering, as stated. Even then, the isolation of the city became clear to these protesters, and more and more riots began to broadcast in several other countries. Whilst these issues arose, the city seemed to lay in silence as if detached from the troubles of this world. That was until it became the central attention. Soon enough, the governments of each nation started to forge their own opinions on the city they helped to construct.
A bomb went off, in the central tower of the city. One that housed the democratic Prime Minister of Messla. It was no small act of terrorism, and upon detonation the investigations seemed to almost instantly dive in. Within minutes, the Prime Minister was reported to have died, after CCTV footage leaked across the internet streaming the man himself being caught in the explosion as soon as the fire spread. Rumours spread within minutes. The country to leak the stream was identified as a French governmental figure. The man who carried and detonated the bomb was part of the CIA. The claims to want the building and city destroyed was made by the Australians only days before the event happened. Eyes began to look towards one another with untrustworthy glances...
It only took days before countries that held a part in the defence league began to dispatch their forces to the City at once, and riots began once more. The forces landed, but within hours one of the platoons of the Norwegian military were shot down by what many guessed was the Polish reconnaissance detachment present in their sector. Tensions began to light up, and a spark and flame of uncalled shots were soon exchanged without permission from their superiors. Those who worked alongside each other in the city soon began to oppress certain nationalities, certain individuals who had been blamed for the violence.
Every country seemed to be importing more troops, claiming that they were only sticking to the safer side of the area. This just found more and more individuals being placed into a bubbling pot of water, about to reach its boiling point. Everything seemed like it couldn't get any worse...That was until an order came through. Justifications of war goals were sent through, and the Russians found themselves with threats from the North American Coalition. With that, conferences were set up to try and negotiate an agreement between the two, but mishaps found them becoming worse and more widespread. Countries soon found themselves making demands of their own, both about Messla and about the future of their nation. Some wanted more technological power amongst the city, some refused to let anyone set a single foot back into the city. It only took one week for the political demands to become so far out that war was declared. Though the reports from the conference were sketchy and usually hard to follow by, orders started flushing through for forces to begin firing upon other detachments within the city.
One single week passed before a frontier was created. Countries began to divide from their old partnerships and slip into new ones. The city began to creep into two sides, one of the Messla Defence Force, a coalition of militarised units forged from countries wishing to only defend the city, the people and end the war itself (Or simply going against the other force), and the other side that still claimed to be the W.T.O. Countries around the world began to find themselves be invaded from within, but with the sheer pressure of the city, it was almost impossible to extract most of the forces from within. Only more could be deployed, or more could be used to defend their own countries. Multiple fronts were now placed into the world. Civil wars were created, and troops were deployed all over the globe. A new war had begun, and the entire world seems to have gotten itself in on the action.

Now, time to give a little note for what I'm trying to see out of this idea. This is a basic idea that came out from thinking a while about what I wanted to do as a roleplay a while back, but never bothered to do so. What we could call this, in effect, is World War 3. That would only be because of the large scale of this war, as clearly stated by the information pack. But what I want is development right here, if anyone is interested. There are a few scenarios that can be created from what this is: Having the current name of Operation - Eclipse.
The ideas I have are to myself, but I want to know what we could get out of this if people were to think for a second. Now that sounds incredibly lazy of myself, but it allows me to fine out the details to ensure I can get this going if people become interested. Hell, even the details of the information can change if it needs to.
The Scenarios could consist of the stories of groups/individuals from either sides of the war, to tell about opinions and narration through their experiences in the conflict. We could have a single mission, with all (Or most) of the Characters being set on trying to complete a task that could lead them trapped on the wrong frontline of the city. It could even go by a rogue unit that detached itself from their side to attempt to escape the war itself, or to fight both sides due to an unbiased, or non-opinionated, lifestyle. Just keep in mind that all of this has to happen within the City of Messla itself. It states that this is near future, so not everything is going to be up to date. Modernised vehicles with minor upgrades could be used, general firearms may be roughly the same or slightly enhanced, but obviously this is not going for full-blown realism when it comes to the political and technological logic. What's more, it can be subject to change. If those want a more future-based setting, then it can be done too. The main focus of this is urbanised conflict, however.
The ideals that I have are to try and look at the warriors of the fight, and to expand on how they change as a character through relations of other characters, the fighting itself or the decisions they make. Preferably, death may be a chanced gamble, as not everyone is destined to survive. At some point, I might even get a character of my own to die themselves. This is to just allow people to think for themselves slightly. And that pretty much wraps up what I have as a note/interest check. I have nothing further to say, so...yes.
@TheWildBunniiAlright, I have a basic way scenario that has multiple pathways, if which you can see if there's any you like.
Even though the conflict rages on, not every spot is occupied with gunfire, seeing as a lot of the war is small firefights and occasional large scale battles, so either side has to maintain the land they own. The M.D.F have to ensure the people are safe, evacuated and not threatened by gangs and rebels buildingb up through the war, whilst the W.T.O. have to ensure they have the hearts and minds of those on their half of the war.
When information of a third party threatens a key location for the W.T.O for future aircraft landing sites, teams from the W.T.O. are sent in to make sure no damage is caused to hinder the future plans of this site. But at the same time, the M.D.F. see this as a threat towards the citizens around, as it will hurt those who support their cause and may provide supplies for needed troops will be destroyed. Sending their own detachment inside, both sides are not aware of their opposition's involvement.
At 4:34pm, the building site was lit up with gunfire and smoke as the three forces collided. The casualties were uncertain, but by 4:38pm, something happened. A ball of fire crunched the sky and a shockwave spread over a mile or two. Within seconds, the tower began to fall down, with the teams and others inside. The third party detonated in panic, and the building crumbled into the adjacent building tower. Survivors were unknown...
Now from this, we can a few plots to build from. Obviously the characters would be amongst the wreckage of the incident. We could either have:
- Survivors from one side trying to find one another, gather their location, return to their rightful side whilst the assault operation of the other side is catching up towards them.
- Survivors from either sides come across one another in the wreckage. Either a truce is forged between them to at least ensure they can escape to their own ways and survive amongst the confrontations of the war, or depending on the survivor ratio some are taken into custody.
- The same as above, but the mixture of both sides trying to escape to one side or the other. They could be pursued by the charging forces of either side and/or the third party.
I say I do enjoy the plot one and two. If it is possible a mixture of the two?
What is this? A compliment?!
Yes, indeed we can. The number one plot mixed with the two sides of the war is really interesting! If that is the case, would you be glad to take the side of the W.T.O character (I have a personal preference for the M.D.F.)?
@TheWildBunniiI was just about to get onto that, and yes you can!
If more people join, only us two will be allowed more than one character (Perhaps 2 at the maximum) but if it does end up as just us, then about three each would be advisable, seeing as death is something that can happen.
Also, for the difficulties of the plot, many of the characters, if not all, may have to be on the same side. It seems difficult to integrate a reason for one side to assist the others by joining them in escaping the power of the other. Though that's not to say we can't have you as the original planned one. This is just a lil' thought, not a confirmed change. I'm keeping it the same, regardless.
