Noibat watched the ruckus that followed the sudden arrival that burst through the window with nary a word from her inverted perch along the edge of the ceiling fan, only serving to narrow her eyes at Rasa as she unabashedly caught it without any hesitation.
Typical opportunistic trainer, did even take a second to think about what the runt wanted.
Rasa left the room number 7 in trainer house in search for the manager of the place, or some other authoritative figure she could report the damage to. She couldnt just leave the room and pretend the damage didnt happen. She found them, she wished she didnt. Maybe it was because it was really early as the sun was just starting to rise, or maybe because of the troubles of last evening and night of which Rasa was not aware. But the manager was not a happy camper.
She explained how the pokemon fought and how one broke the window, and how she was in hurry herself to get to the pokecenter. Yet when the manager asked her where the trainer was of either of those pokemon she knew where the conversation would end.
"I didnt see the trainer, but he had an Empoleon with them, those need a lot of training, not everyone has them.""How should I know! A bunch of kids traded their pokemon around yesterday. They may as well all have one by now."There was a bitterness to the man voice which Rasa didnt understand. Trading wasnt anything to be bitter about. Two trainers talk with each other and if their pokemon would like to be trained by that other person they would trade them. Some pokemon would only evolve when they were traded to a new trainer. In her confused silence the manager rubbed the bridge of his nose and asked on.
"You said a Larvitar was the other pokemon? Do you know who his trainer is?" She was right...She was now Larvitars trainer, and saying that made the manager look at her in a way that made Rasa feel like apologising. She didnt even attempt to clarify that she wasnt his trainer at the moment of fight, because it wouldnt change anything. As his trainer she was to take responsibility for him. Including past and future. The paying of the damages fall than on her. She just had enough money to pay for it. With a empty wallet she looked at the pokeball of the Larvitar, how the pokedex informed her his name was. He wondered how he must feel, defeated by a pokemon against which he didnt have a chance. The emperor pokemon reminded Rasa of her sister who had the same pokemon on her own team. Would the ground rock type want to get stronger and fight a revenge match? She would.
It was bugging the blonde trainer as she walked to the breakfast area to fetch Grazia. Why that pokemon? From all of the possible water types it had to be that one. The water type
she used. Rasa wanted to take down her sister team. Would he help her? What do you need to take down an Emperor?
A stray thought whispered in her mind. A Kaiser...yeah kaiser of the team storm bringer... No there was missing something. He had to be a fighter to even challenge the pokemon to begin with...Fighter of the storm. The name light up in her mind like lighting, a soft chuckle accompanying it because of the storm related pun.
Kaiser Thore. A warrior emperor of the lighting. That was a powerful name to bring fear into the bones of any Emperor out there. She noticed Grazia as she walked into the room where breakfast was served.
"Its time to get going."It was still early. There was a lot of things to do in one day. She did fix the tube top for Grazia first thing when she woke up and before the hit in the face. Following up with payment and breakfast, and as they were going towards the pokecenter to heal Kaiser Thore, Rasa was questioning what Grazia liked to eat, or if she was still hungry. One less thing on her to do list, get to know your teammates. She packed some of the food from breakfast for later in her bag. Broke people needed to use any free service they can get their fingers on.
Meanwhile Rasa talked to fill in the silence.
"... I know you that in the first gym we will be fine against the ground types but the rock ones will be a problem. I was thinking of two ways to do it, one is to save money for potion and go for endurance and tire them out. The other is to train you up so you simply overpower them. What do you prefer? For strategy we need to be on the same page." Rasa looked towards Grazia, smiling wondering if Grazia would give her a answer. Which reminded Rasa that she didnt got around to properly check against what was her teammate weak. Deciding against asking her pokemon that and appear as a even bigger newbie in her eyes, for not knowing all the types strengths and weakness.
Now that she caught a pokemon, she could see more information about the specie as a whole. Seeing all sort of informations about her. One of those was that she was slightly better with special attacks than physical, as well that noibats were fast. She didnt need the pokedexs to tell her that. She saw Grazia speed last night. What did surprise the trainer was something else.
"Grazia, I will have to keep you out the way of any ice and snow. If it could be helped." Rasa commented watching the field where it stated that both flying and dragon were weak to ice based attacks. She had zero idea about that before now.
"We will need someone who will be able to take care of those enemies. Fire should work well..." The blond trainer concluded but she was as aware there was little chance she would catch a fire type for a while, then again she didnt await a dragon type for her first catch either.
Especially the trainer didnt await a fire type to be just a few meters down the street from them. Even less that it was a wild pokemon in the city as well. It could be understandable as she was reading up on the registered attacks Grazia would know.
"Do you like screech or supersonic to use more?" Rasa asked nose still in the pokedexs as she was walking.
Charmander was walking down the street content enough. In cities, there was always store owners that fed wild pokemon, and Charmander had charmed them all. She had a full belly, had had a sleep and was in a good mood. She had followed the trainer for a bit, making sure they didn't get into anymore trouble, but mostly she had just been making sure that the Zorua or Noibat were going to attack the trainer again. That trainer really needed to get some pokemon, but she wasn't going to offer.
She walked down the street, humming to herself. There were trainers about, with their pokemon, which wasn't odd in a city. Hopefully most of the would think that she was just running about, and not wild. Yet she stopped dead as she saw Noibat. She shifted, warily, seeing that they were with a trainer that had their nose in a pokedex. Had the Noibat got themselves captured?
Either way, Charmander wasn't going to let herself be caught off guard. She stayed where she was, glaring at the Noibat.
"Not a big fan of getting hit, so I'd say make me stronger. Isn't that, I don't know, what your supposed to do anyway as my . . . trainer."Noibat walked slightly behind Rasa, still looking less than thrilled as her trainer spouted off a bunch of strategy in her direction, Noibat had never really been one for thinking ahead of time, being a more instinctive, spur of the moment type pokemon. As such, this was all going in one ear and out the other, with her answers being a bit less than helpful. "I don't know, it depends on the situation. Aren't you smart enough to figure out when to use which."
Noibat was getting more annoyed with Rasa the further they walked, every word out of her mouth a reminder that she was now a domesticated pokemon. One of the pets and slaves that she used to love to make-fun of with Z whenever she saw them. The thought of her friend caused her ears to press themselves flat against her head, wondering whether she'd ever get to see her friend again. She was afraid to ask Rasa if she could go look for him incase the trainer decided she'd try to catch him as well. Last thing she wanted was for Z to share the same fate as well.
Letting out a soft sigh, Noibat looked around her surroundings with a bored eye, not really paying attention to Rasa's strategy talk anymore as she scanned the area. However, her footsteps would suddenly freeze as her eyes locked onto a familiar looking tuft of bright orange hair. A growl rumbled its way out of Noibat's throat as she glared at the Charmander, who had seen her as well and looked just as happy about the reunion as she was.
"Oh I'm going to enjoy this."Noibat muttered under her breath as she began to swiftly approach her target, barely keeping herself from running at the bitch who hurt her friend. She didn't want to be an idiot and get a face full of embers, and if she'd been calmer, she might've tried to approach from a more stealthy vector. But currently, she was too mad to think that far ahead, wanting nothing more than to plant her fit into this girl's face repeatedly until she begged for mercy and forgiveness, than punch her a few times mire for good measure.
So Charmander was right. It was Noibat. She narrowed her eyes, watching her opponent approach, clearly anger-like it was Charmanders fault Noibat had allowed herself to get caught. Like it was Charmanders fault Noibat and Zorua had sought to steal from someone. She crouched, ready to spring once Noibat got close to her, glancing at the trainer who still stilled oblivious to what was going on. So be it.
Charmader sprang up as Noibat got close, attacking with Scratch, she leaped in, then leaped back, then further back, once more waiting for Noibat to come close to her, and giving herself a few seconds respite to see the damage, to see Noibats reaction, and to allow herself to see if Noibats trainer would notice her pokemon was attacking her.
She swayed, shaking her head.
"Whats the matter, Noibat? Did you and Zorua have a spat? oh, how sad. You were quite the criminal pair. Too bad you failed. You going to fail again?" real smart, trying to tick off someone whose already ticked She smirked, and waited, watching, her tail flickering as she moved it slightly.
As Grazia was responding, Rasa kept reminding herself not to take the biting words to heart. It was only her second day as a trainer. Telling herself its a good sign that Grazia was responding and not just saying do whatever. She noted to train her up in attacks and evasion tactics. To accompany her wish. She was smart, she lacked the experience and Grazia was declaring loudly that she will have to get the experience without any hints of help.
That was fine as well, she was about to ask yet another question to Grazia but the steady sound of footsteps behind her stopped. Rasa turned to look behind herself but her pokemon was already approaching a Charmander. Rasa had zero idea what was going on, but the glimpse of Grazias expression told her that what ever this was. The half dragon needed this fight. Not only need, but burning to fight the other pokemon. Rasa could only throw a wild guess that they must have some history together. She didnt know the whys or whats that history was, but she was not going to let her pokemon be punished for disobeying their trainer. There was only one thing for her to do. Make this her own decision, and give her order for the attack.
"Charmender get your trainer! I am challenging you to a fight!" She called loudly and with a lot more confidence than she felt. Hoping her action would let Grazia know that she was fully standing behind her supporting her, regardless what the whole story was. That she is taking her side. As well as planning to make Grazia tell her if there are any other pokemon she will attack on sight. Just for the future references. Apparently thats a thing she should have asked the Noibat already.
"Use screech! And get attitude so she cant reach you!" Rasa was already planning to bet with Charmander trainer on 100p$ that she would win this fight. She was looking around trying to spot the assumed trainer, but she didnt saw anyone.
What is going on? The other pokemon was talking, referring to who knows what. It only confirmed they had a history. The world criminal came to Rasa ears and she had to wonder even more what was going on.
"We will make her eat her words Grazia. You trainer is a chicken Charmander letting you fight all alone and lose in their name."
Charmander laughed,
"I'm sorry, My trainer is a figment of my imagination. They don't exist. Because I don't have one" She began to move as the trainer began to order the Noibat about, running directly towards Noibat, she leaped towards the other pokemon before they could gain alptitude, and be out of her reach.
"In case you don't know what that means, Trainer, I'm wild." Perhaps she shouldn't have said that, once this trainer knew she was a wild pokemon, she would try to catch Charmander. Charmander wouldn't make it easy for her, and she wasn't going to lose to this Noibat.
"But I'll still fight. I owe your Noibat that, at least" Charmander growled. She started to use scratch again, but stopped.
Charmander leaped back from Noibat. She didn't know why. Perhaps she simply just didn't want to win easily. Moving back, Charmander watched, warily, keeping an eye on both Noibat and her trainer. She didn't want to grow lax and not see a pokeball coming towards her.
Charmander's first attack was barely avoided with a sudden shift into her Pokemon form, causing the swipe to go a bit wide -though she did get grazed across her back-, but she'd quickly switch back as Rasa yelled an order at her. Too focused to think of anything else to do, Noibat would take a deep breath before letting out a powerful Screech at the fiery bitch. This would be followed by another switch into her Pokemon form as she flew in circles around her, aiming to confuse her before launching a secondary attack. Shifting into her humanoid, she'd launch out with a kick just as Charmander went with her scratch attack.
Given the timing, they would likely hit each other at the same time, Noibat aiming for the gut while she was able to claw her across the face. As Charmander backed up, Noibat simply glared at her. She didn't respond to her mocking words, simply content to let her attacks do the talking right now.
Screech Attack: roll of
19 with an accuracy of 85 = a hit.
Tackle Attack: 100% accuracy already, not likely to miss.
Charmander knew she could avoid all the attacks. SHe hissed at the screech attack, and responded, shifting to her pokemon form and using Growl. She flinched at the tackle, flying backwards, she twisted, shifting forms and landing, one hand on the ground to steady her, sliding back slightly.
She charged, changing form mid leap as she went to scratch Noibat again, and in mid attack, she changed form again, hoping to use her heavier weight in her non-pokemon form to bring Noibat down to the ground. She was panting slightly, and she had a scrap from the tackle, the screech causing her to be off balance a little.
The screech worked and the fire type looked a bit less sure on her feet. Charmander was strong, and stubborn. She could have run away. She said it herself she was a wild pokemon. Thought Rasa briefly wondered if all pokemon in this region are rude and assume trainers to be brainless. Then again it may just be her luck. The fire type she was facing Noibat as stubbornly as Grazia was focusing on her.
They exchanged hits and they got distance between each other. There was so much she was conflicted about at this moment.
Grazia was actually listening to her, that alone surprised her. She had to had at least a bit of trust in her judgment. It was one layer of happiness to the confusion she was feeling. Then their opponent a wild fire type. Catching her would be a great help for the team. Yet the vicious battle they had was speaking volumes about them getting along once on the same team. Ergo they would not get along at all. She would have let her off and simple defeat her. That was not an option Rasa could do.
"Hey Charmander. " Rasa called in the short moment they were glaring at each other. She already had a good feel about the answer to her question. Yet she still asked the pokemon.
"You have witnessed some crime Grazia my Noibat did, right?"She couldnt allow a witness to walk away. Her job was to take care of her pokemon. If they have trouble with the law... it was still her job to protect them. A witness who could get her pokemon in trouble... She couldnt let her go. She didnt know how serious the situation was. Was it something minor like stealing food or pickpocketing? Or something major. Rasa tried to stop herself from thinking it but failed... Her mind conjuring a possible murder case on her pokemon. She had to catch the strong willed charmander, get the whole story. And than somehow make that team work.
Yuppie, Rasa. You really make your own life harder....I wonder if my rivals have to deal with this things? They didnt stay like this for long. The brief moment in which Rasa decided on catching the other pokemon was over. Switching sizes in mid leap charmander was aiming to hit Grazia once more.
"Hit her with a tackle, head on!" It shouldnt miss and it should hurt more than usually because of the previous screech. The moment the attack landed, Rasa called out again. Hoping the fire type will be too close to effectively avoid it.
"Use supersonic in her face, now!" If it worked, Rasa could test the theory if confused pokemon are truly easier to catch. Her hand going in the bag, only 3 pokeballs left.
Noibat obliged to Rasa's commands, watching as the Charmander charged towards her. Figuring that they would shift in mid-charge since attacking in such a small pokemon form would but her at a big disadvantage, Noibat was ready for the switch and was able to nimbly avoid getting rundown, though she did take another grazing hit. Hissing in both pain and fury, she charged forward in order to catch the charmander in the side. hopefully nocking them down. Once that was accomplished, Noibat would struggle with them a bit until she was straddling them, gripping their head roughly by the hair. With a deep breath, she'd unleash a Super Sonic attack at them at point-blank range, ringing their ears as the high-frequency of the sound waves played havoc with her equilibrium. The fact the Noibat was also shaking Charmander's head around a fair bit more than was needed was definitely not helping either.
Super Sonic attack: Roll of
24= A hit. Subject liklely confused. Roll a d100 for confusion. Deal damage to yourself if roll falls in the 1-50 range.
The rage of the attack tore through Charmander, and helpless to avoid the supersonic, she took the attack, confusion overwhelming her. She struggled with it, but couldn't seem to break it. The fact that Noibat was trying to screw her head off just made it all the harder. She arched her back, trying to through the other pokemon off, but probably just looked like she was spasming.
she's going to try to catch you! the thought tore through her, causing her to panic. Which just made everything so much worse.
"Get off of me you damned bat!" She snarled, completely ignoring the trainers question, trying to through Noibat off, to get her feet under her, to break the confusion, and yet she didn't seem to be able to. She was near tears, trying to use scratch, trying to do anything, but she just seemed to hurt herself and do nothing to Noibat.
Even Rasa ears hurt from the strength of that supersonic. Grazia was definitely putting her all in it. That was the moment her fingers wrapped around the pokeball and pulled it out.
Even confused Charmander was wriggling against Grazia's hold. Kicking and spasming baring her teeth, yet she couldnt truly hit her target, instead only hurting herself. If she continued like that she may even knock herself out. Stubborn as the Charmander was, the girl would definitely resist until she fainted.
Rasa aimed and throw the pokeball, while Grazia was still straddling the fire type. The red white ball spinned in the air and arched until it hit the orange head. It opened and the light from the pokeball wrapped itself around Charmander. Pulling her inside the ball and leaving Grazia sitting on the pavement with a pokeball in front of her. All of it lasted just a few quick seconds, it felt like an eternity to Rasa.
"Grazia you did great." Rasa commented staring at the pokeball waiting to see if there will be the three shakes and the final click of the catch.
"But we will need to have a little talk." Rasa added eyes glued to the ball.
Charmander saw the ball coming towards her, and she couldn't do anything about it.
"Damn you, you evil bat!" Was all she had time for, before the light enveloped her, and she was engulfed into the pokeball. It was almost like being transported to another universe. It was netierh too small, nor too large. It was an empty space, that allowed her to stand, but it wasn't really stimulating. For a moment, Charmander thought the walls were closing in, and she began to panic, trying to find a way out, running her hands over the walls, only every time she tried, it seemed like the walls got further and further away.
Everything blinked. One.
This was it. She was going to get captured. She just knew it. She whipped around, trying desperately to find a way out. But she couldn't.
Everything blinked again. Two.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Most people were good. Most people just occassionally did something they could consider bad. But...some people were bad, and struggled everyday to keep it under control. And then there were others who were corrupt to their very core and didn't give a damn about others so long as they didn't get caught. And then there were the try evil people. That was a different story. They thought they were good, believed it, when they weren't.
Where did this trainer fall in, capturing a bad pokemon like Noibat?
Everything blinked a third time. Three.
She could feel the capture tighten around her, feel the pokeball still. Her fear welled up inside of her, she didn't want to be a bad pokemon. She didn't want to be someones pet. Didn't want to forever be controlled by a trainer, who might not give a damn about her.
"NO!" she bellowed it, and then suddenly the feeling of constriction was gone.
Everything blinked.
Not again. Did she have to endure this again, and just how was it happening? Was she able tostruggle to break free, or had she been caught?
Everything blinked again.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. She'd know where her next meal was always coming from. And she'd get stronger. She'd be able to truly take down Noibat, and set things right. Maybe she could even persuade the trainer that Noibat was a bad pokemon...
A bad pokemon. A strange concept, really. Pokemon shouldn't be inheritenly good or bad. their masters....their masters made them bad. But what did that make Noibat, who hadn't had a master when she'd tried to steal from that trainer? There was always two options. Just because they didn't have a trainer, didn't have access to that easy food, didn't mean they had to steal. Charmander hadn't. She hadn't done anything worse then, okay, maybe stealing a bit of pokemon food from that trainer that one time, but he hadn't seemed phased when she slowly approached his pokemon. He'd even tried to talk to her, but after grabbing a handful of food, Charmander had been out of there.
Everything blinked for a sixth and final time.
It fell over her again, this time it didn't feel quite so bad. Everything was still white. Empty. Only now, it was oddly comfrotable. And Charmander didn't like it one bit. She wanted out of the pokeball, captured or not. She had heard of pokemon coming out of their pokeballs, but how did they do it? She tried to imagine the outside of the pokeball, but there was no true way to know where the release was. She was well and truly...caught.
The pokeball shaked once, twice and Rasa watched. Would she break out? It shaked and then stilled the click was heard and The trainer visibly relaxed. She walked up to the pokeball and took it in her hand. She briefly looked at it before she once more looked over at Grazia. Now that the fight was over she hoped her noibat was a bit tired out.
"Grazia, can you walk? We are making a detour to the pokecenter." Rasa stated, remembering the bats words from last night about not wanting to be in a pokeball till she is able to walk.
" As well care to inform me if there are by any chance any other pokemon, trainers or humans you will attack on sight? Just so you know I am informed. Because that is apparently a thing I have to ask as well as your food preferences." She gave a pointed look to Grazia. She didnt mind the fight, she simply didnt like feeling so lost on what was going on. How was she to support her if she barely guessed the intentions and reasons the battle was happening for. They were making their way towards the pokecenter, Rasa barely moving her eyes from Grazia. Mostly in worry for Grazia scratches and planning how she should go on from here. She still had to see if her tent was whole or not.
"Last question. How serious is your criminal record? What did she witnessed?" Rasa at that pointed at the pokeball with her newest teammate.
"Is it the type where I can take the blame and pay for the damage/compensation in your name. Or are we talking here something worse as in have to avoid any police, or investigator in every city because they would arrest you on sight. In that case I may need to hide you in your pokeball at times..." They were in front of the pokecenter by that point. Rasa was planning to let out and meet with the Charmander once she healed the fire type. Until then she was holding the pokeball in her hand, her focus on the half dragon type.
Noibat remained silent, breath coming out in short spurts as the weight of what she had helped do settle on her shoulders. She had been so angry with the orange haired little cuss that she had forgotten that she had belonged to a trainer, and thus, every fight that she fought now had a chance of taking the freedom away from another pokemon. Even if she didn't like the Charmander, she didn't want her to be captured. The ears on her head pressed down against the sides of her head as she felt like she was going to be sick all over the floor.
Luckily for her, Rasa was quick to distract her from her inner turmoil with a litany of pointed questions, though all the girl was met with at first was an equally pointed glare in return, one that seemed to say
'why the fuck do I have to explain myself to you.' The look faded after some time, however, as Noibat's quickly shifted to the side with a slight 'Hmph' before she deemed it necessary to respond.
"Keep your damn pants on, Blondie. The dumb lizard just got in the way of me and my friend from robbing some newbie trainer. We scare them a bit, take their wallet, and skedaddle, nothing serious. Better then they deserve really" Noibat mumbled the final bit underneath her breath, scratching at the base of her ears as she continued to compile with Rasa's little 'interrogation'.
"I only really attacked her because she hurt my friend defending the prick, something I don't take kindly to in the slightest. Also, I thought we were clear about the Pokeball thing. Namely, that I'm not going into that damn thing except dire circumstances." At this point, she returned Rasa's gaze with one of her own, lips and ears pulled back defiantly in a silent snarl. She was not above biting this girl if she needed to be reminded of their previous agreement.
Rasa relaxed, it wasnt as bad as imagined. Sure stealing and tricking beginner trainers out their money was bad. In some other situations she could have been her victim. As Grazia explained her reason she lurched at the fire type in a near blind rage,it being that her friend was hurt by Charmander, Rasa stayed silent.
A friend, it didnt even came to the newbie trainer mind before that moment. Her pokemon may have someone who may worry about her. She must be a failure of trainer for not thinking of that. No wonder Grazia was resenting her. She did save her life by catching her, but she as well didnt consider her pokemon past. To her own defence Grazia wasnt open on that regard, focusing on having a frown and glare on her face at all times. Feeling bad for that a quick idea came to her mind. She reached out and ruffled her pokemon hair affectionately.
"Then everything is good. And seeing you did so well. As your trainer I think you earned a treat for yourself." She took off her wristwatch and placed it on Grazia wrist.
"First rule, I will trust you that you mean to keep your word and will come back. Second rule do not get in any trouble if it can be avoided. Third dont break my watch, please." This may be a horrible idea. Even so Rasa thought it worth a shot, maybe with that they could get better along? She hoped she read the need of Grazia correctly.
"You have three hours to yourself once the pokecenter nurse heals you. Like free time you earned it. Do whatever you feel like doing. You can stay and great Charmander or fly a few rounds to stretch your wings. You will find me at the trainer hours in my room." She hugged Grazia quickly before she moved inside the pokecenter to heal her pokemon. Hoping that her pokemon needed free time for herself... Or Grazia would leave and never come back, and her sister would have been right that she couldnt do anything without messing it up horrible. The nurse gave the pokeball back, interrupting that train of thoughts, the fire and ground type all healed up and Rasa sat down on the couch of the pokecenter. Taking a deep breath she called out her newest member first, beside her on the sofa.
"Welcome to the team Stormbringer. I am Rasa Elenua, and I know the circumstances of capturing were a bit on the negative impression. I hope you will give me a chance to prove myself to you. As well I would like to let you know I will always take the side of all my pokemon and protect them. Ensuring whatever their needs are to be meet." She offered her hand to the older looking girl for a handshake.
"I would like to nickname you Meintje, if you are fine with it. It means strength."
Charmander came out the pokeball, not subdued, but more fiery than ever. Perhaps it was based on fear. Perhaps it wasn't. She glared at the pokeball that was hers, disgusted by it. While she didn't begrudge trainers needing a way to capture pokemon, she begrudged them encasing their pokemon in what was essentially a prison. Not many, if any, pokemon could get out the pokeball by themselves. And that disgusted Charmander. It took away the pokemon's free will.
She looked to what was her trainer, and sighed softly.
"What I would like is to not have to deal with that bat. She, and her friend, tricked a trainer, deliberately leading them into a trap, and if I hadn't been there, that Trainer would be left without money, without anything. And she doesn't feel guilt about it. She's not a good pokemon, Rasa. From what I saw, she doesn't treat you right"Charmander couldn't be resentful to this girl, who seemed like she was expecting rejection. Charmander just couldn't be angry at her capture. She took Rasa's hand. Meintje? The trainer cared enough to come up with names for her pokemon? Charmander thought for a moment, and then shrugged.
"As long as you feed me, you can call me whatever you want."
The stories matched up, even so as she shock Meintje hand, she couldnt think of Grazia as bad pokemon. She saw how she fought when her life was in danger, and saw how beautiful she could be. Just now she witnessed how passionately she felt about her friends health. To the point she would go in rage and into a fight with the culprit. Elegant in ways that impressed her, stubborn and proud like a dragon. Her mind remembering the last night when Grazia could break her word and simple leave the trainer house. The room door was never locked. Yet she stayed, giving her a chance.
"...Thank you. But I would have you apologize to Grazia for the insults you throw around during the last fight. You two are the same team. You will both need to work together at least." She raised her finger to cut short any protest at that. "
I dont think Grazia is a bad pokemon. There are pokemon who do bad. Robbing is bad, yes. But its not something that isnt forgivable. I will earn her respect as I hope I will earn yours one day." She was happy that Meintje appeared to accept her somewhat. After a moment of pause Rasa added.
"Is there anything you want to tell me about youself that I should be aware of? Or shall I hole you with question for a while?"
"No." Charmander said, narrowing her gaze,
"I won't apologise. Because I meant every word. I'll apologise if she apologises to the trainer she tried to rob" Charmander's tone was one that essentially said don't push it.
She looked away, just because she felt sympathy for this girl didn't mean she would allow herself to do something she thought of as wrong.
"No. There's nothing. I tend to be an open book" she pulled her knees up to her chest. She sighed, not looking towards Rasa at all, she bowed her head slightly, to let her hair fall over her eyes. And hide the tears prickling there, that she tried desperately to not let fall. She didn't even know where they were coming from.
The no was clearly indicating Meintja wouldnt change her opinion. Rasa bit on her lower lip, she wasnt all too sure that Grazia would apologize yet. But she could if they cross the paths with that trainer in her pokemon name.
"Well... You are both my responsibility." Rasa stood and stretched, yet as she turned to look at her newest teammate she saw her curled up on the sofa. Hugging her knees and hiding her face. She reminded Rasa of a young child. With a short step Rasa was beside her and gave her a hug and kissing the top of the orange hair. Trying to comfort the pokemon as best as she could. To show her that she will be cared for.
"Hey Meintja..." And she wasnt sure what to say, how to say the things on her mind, after a few moments she let go smiling softly to cheer her up.
"As Grazia you can choose if you want to be inside your pokeball of preffer to stay outside. Try to not fight her. I will tell her the same as well....There is still something to do. Another member to meet. Come out, Kaiser Thore welcome to the team Stormbringer! I hope you like the name." With those words rasa let larvitar out his pokeball.
Larvitar
It had begun with the race of a heart passionate for battle, meeting new challenges, overcoming new foes. From the moment he had felt the wind upon his face and heard it whisper his name... Larvitar, either that or it was just his own voice as it was the first thing that had come out his mouth. He had challenged a foe, and a new one, eventually reaching that town, that point... a huge opponent revealed itself and fought against him. It hadn't been much of a fight, already eagerly picking fights left and right it shouldn't have been to unexpected. One potent blast, and it had been it... the end of the road, the end of a fiery spirit that in an instant had been dosed by water unrelenting. It had knocked the breath out of him, giving him the taste of iron and blood... sounds fading, senses failing... everything dimmed out, the pain was quick... and then everything else was gone.
He had no sense of time, no direction... no reason, chains had enveloped him and he had been imprisoned in the absence of his consciousness. When he came to it he was floating in a seemingly endless black void. It was different from black underground of which he had came, no sense of himself. Was he dead?... had he died?... No, he refused to meet his end already... the chains who bound him, a representation of how he felt a she unconsciously and unwillingly was captured cringed and cried as he pulled against them... struggled and growled. He did not give in, he did not forget... Faces... Voices... sensations and memories flooded too him. He did not know from where they came nor what they belonged too, but there was voices around him... He had a heavy yet alive heart, he had lost... this was what happened to the defeated?... No... he refused to acknowledge it... it was not the end, he would not submit.... not even close.
He did not know how long passed between the moment he had awoken, and the moment when attention was turned too him. Yet There was a light, he felt a pull on him as he was called towards it accompanied by a Voice,
Come out, Kaiser Thor welcome to the team Stormbringer! I hope you like the name.. Yet Larvitar pulled away as strongly as he could, yanked on the chaisn and hissed as he shattered them. That voice tried to control him... he did not accept it, he did not submit... This place may not be what he was used to, but he refused to follow directions of a voice he did not know...
Outside the space a Eager trainer awaited the summon of a Pokémon from a ball... yet the ball would fly true into the air... but not open. It landed on the ground with a soft clonk, boucning once before rolling a bit before remaining completely still.
Rasa called his name out, lightly throwing the ball in the air.
Her eyes watching the ball spin in the air.
Watching it reach its highest point.
Watching it slowly go down.
Watching how it hit the ground.
Watching it bounce once of the floor.
And finally watched as it rolled away a bit.
Rasa had a blank stare towards the ball, slowly paling. This wasnt supposed to happen. She didnt even know how it could even happen, to begin with. Her mind with a uncomfortable easy jumping to the worst case scenario. Dead.Rasa moved to get away from that thougth and towards the ball. Sliding up to the ball, falling to her knees and picking it up.
"No, no, no! Please, did I not pull you in, in time? " Her heartbeat was beating faster and faster. Just as fast as last night when she run for her and Noibats life away from the slashing Axew. The free hand going into her blond hair and holding onto it. Meintja was completely forgotten at the moment as Rasa focus was on the ball. She was ready to explain the disorientation to the pokemon. She was not ready to face failure at saving him.
"Has that pokemon hurt you worse than I believed? No, even so the ball should hold you stable...I checked you for poison and... you were barely breathing...Did I messed it up? You should be healed now." She spoke to herself. It was in that moment she stood up and went directly to the nurse. She told her he was healed, and yet something must have happened. SOmething had to be wrong.
"You said he was healed?"The nurse in the pokemon center smiled.
"They are both back to perfect healthy. Thougth you should take better care of your pokemon. Last night you come in with your noibat barely alive and now it was your Larvitar? You should try some more potions.""Are you sure? " "Yes." The nurse firmly said leaving no room for any compain. Once more Rasa was left with a complete lack of knowing what was happening. She started to dislike that feeling even more than before. Looking at the ball, she still couldnt believe the nurse words. If they were true why didnt the ball work and let him out?
"I thougth you were a fighter? Could it be the time? Had it taken too long? But the ball... should have kept you safe." Once more she pulled on her hair, trying to think who even to ask? Maybe the professor? To go back?
Meanwhile in the forest.
Noibat pushed Rasa's hand off-her head when the trainer tried to pet her, looking up to glare at her for daring to put a hand on her, when she found a wristwatch being dangled in front of her face. Snatching it with a muttered
"I can do it myself.", Noibat listened to everything that Rasa had to say, looking reasonably suspicious of everything, as well as a bit miffed at Rasa's tone. After a moment of silence, she decided to take Blondie up on her 'reward', putting the on the watch, even if she didn't need it to tell the time
and didn't even know how to read it.
"I don't need any of that fancy-shmancy stuff to take care of that Lizard bitch's baby scratches. If you'll excuse me, I'm gone for now and you can be sure to tell Scaly that she can go take a Horn drill up her judgmental rear-end for all I care." With that, Noibat walked outside, shifting into her Pokemon form and flying off into the nearby forest, immediately searching for Z in his usual area. However, after about an hour of that, she came to the conclusion that he wasn't to be found anywhere, an irritating development that led to her employing her usual method of blowing of stream. Throughout the forest, Caterpies ran in fear as she went about knocking them all about the place. This continued for about an hour, after which, she found herself covered in scrapes and bruises, as well as strands of silk webbing, from the pitiful bugs that had decided it was smart to fight back. That just made her beat down on them harder.
After that, she spent her remaining time bandaging herself up with an Oran Berry Salve on her wounds, all of them being rather minor and inconsequential. With in half an hour, she was already feeling incredibly better, practically back to full. well, physically, she felt fine. Mentally and emotionally, the fact that she still couldn't find Z was distressing and worrying on it's own, but the fact remained that she might never see her friend again after this Trainer finished the stupid Gym challenge. The weight of this was weight, and she truly considered just staying away. She didn't owe that damn trainer anything, and the thought of being forced to spend time with that damned Charmander made her want to go back to tormenting Caterpie again.
But then she thought back to Hydreigon, to how he cared for her, and how he always told her to never leave debts unpaid, and to never break promises. That was one of the rules he always held himself to, one of the rules that kept him from treading that dark path other wild pokemon turned to when times got rough. If she broke this deal, no matter how much she wanted to, she'd be betraying Hydreigon's Ideals, and that was really all she had left of him.
". . . Goddamn Trainers."
Back at the pokecenter
It had been silent for a while now, he hadn't seen the light... Nor had he felt the pull. Yet there it was again, the voice... Much more silent this time
"I thought you were a fighter... Could it be the time? Has it taken too long? But the ball... Should have kept you safe. " it said.
-A fighter?... Was that what he was?. He challenged anyone, fought to gain strength, feel superior... To win, to conquer... He was no mere fighter... He was a Conqueror.
-Time... Too long?... He felt like he been here forever, yet didn't feel like any time had passed at all, it wasn't bothersome, yet it ate him to feel like the aspect of a daily cycle escaped him.
-safe?... Yes perhaps this... This place kept him safe, but what from?... His foes?... Or... Himself?... The question was if he really wanted to feel safe. What was the fun in that?... He couldn't conquer himself if he hid away. Once the silence had settled in once more, the restlessness was eating him. He moved, he shook, and he surged toward where he seen the light. He pushed towards it... With, challenged its might, and once more felt something yield to him.
On the outside a formerly peaceful pokeball suddenly bounced up in the air on its own. It then opened up and in a flash of bright white light let out its inhabitant... Larvitar tasted freedom once more.
At first the new surroundings surprised him, yet it was almost as when his eyes had cleared for the first time and he had seen the world. His eyes were wide as he looked around, yet as he heard a noise behind him he quickly turned around with a narrowing gaze. There stood a Human, like many he had seen recently, yet something was different about her as she didn't wear much clothes. He thought about attacking her, yet something made him think she looked too vulnerable... At first she looked big to him, but as he changed form she shrank and shrank until she looked quite tiny. He starred at her with a narrow sharp leer. Then slowly turned around as he was about to walk off without a word.
Maybe he died inside the ball, because she wasted time on the fight with Grazia and Meintja. Maybe she should have pulled Grazia into her ball, that way broke up the fight? It was against what her pokemon asked of, to not be held inside a ball. But they should had the time. Rasa thoughts were stuck in a endless loop with no proper exit in sight. She was worrying and feeling even worse by the minute.
Maybe she should give it up, her sister being right. She could not do it. She wasnt cut out to be a trainer. As it was evident on how royally she messed up. A life thrust into her hands, fine face, was lost. The cuts on her forearms, burnt more noticeable. A angry reminder of her fail. Yet she wasnt even sure what mistake she made. At home she could take care of the shop...
The ball shaked, stopping any more of the cursed circle of thoughts she was stuck in. The ball all but jumping out her hands, Rasa barely kept her balance as it bounced out her hand, staring with eyes big when light flooded out the ball, shaping into a small form.
And the form looked at her. And Rasa looked back at him, feeling only relief that the little guy was alive, and appeared unhurt. Truly healed. He started shifting and the little guy was no longer so little at all. He grow taller and taller to a point when Rasa felt like a kid compared to his height, as she reached only to his chest. As he started to look around she hugged him around the chest. A big happy hug.
"You scared me right there. I thought you died inside the ball against all logic." She craned her head back to look up at him.
"Are you hurting anywhere? Or are you feeling fine? I know this is disorienting. My name is Rasa Elenua and we are at a pokemon center. That is your teammate Meintja. " She let go of Kaiser Thore and smiled at him, moving some of her blond hair out her face.
"That Empoleon you fought defeated you with way more force than it was needed. Why did you even fight him?" She questioned, reaching down to pick the pokeball from the floor and drop it inside her bag. In her mind she counted, two potion, one pokeball, zero money and few baked goods from the trainer house breakfast table. She pulled two of those out with the intend to offer them to his two pokemon who probably were hungry.
