For a long time wanted to create a Trading Card Game RPG just for the guild. After a lot of brain racking I think I finally found a way to do it. But I need some help.

The idea is that it will have its own RP, but the card system could be used for other things such as arena battles or other RPs. Just as an alternative to having to use Yu-Gi-Oh or Magic The Gathering systems which sometimes dont translate well to Guild RP.

Would anyone be interested in helping me build this game and universe? I've already made a start and would be open to ideas or suggestions.

The system would be similar to Lost Kingdoms if youve ever played it, where cards turn into real creatures and magic to wage war in 1 on 1 duel.

Here is what I have so far

The world of Lost Empires is very similar to our own. But the key differences come within the history.





Lost Empires Overview I: The Card Game


In Lost Empires you will play as an indidual with access to the conduit-stone's power which allows you to summon the real world magic used by the battle mages in the times of the Mythic Wars. The creatures and weapons used by the mages are reprsented by the Mythic Legends trading cards. They are in very limited supply in the modern time and you will only have access to a small number at the beginning of your journey.

The battle system is very similar to that of the Lost Kingdoms franchise, if youve played that somehwat rare game you will know the basics, but dont worry if you havent as the exact rules of how it will be adapted to this RP will be fully explained here.

The objective of a duel is to use the cards in your deck to fight your opponent until they become defenseless and have to submit. You will actively be on the battlefield summoning monsters and wielding weapons as if it were live combat. Your access to the conduit gives you the abilites of a battle mage. So when in a Mythic Duel you will be able to do things you couldnt in the real world, physically.

Lost Empires Overview II: The Card Types and Elements


There are 4 different types of cards in Mythic Legends and each card can only be used once per battle. You will start off with a Deck of 15 cards, and your deck may hold a maximum of 25 cards, with no card replicas more than x3 with some even less. The 4 types of cards are as follows.





Lost Empires Overview III: Victory and Defeat


A game of Mythic Legends is not to be taken lightly, each game, even friendly exhibition rounds come with a price. Both players must wager something before every battle or the cards wont activate, as to reflect the risky nature of the wars that the mages had in in ancient times. The most common is card wager, the winner wins the card that the loser wages. Depending on the rarity of the card, this could be dissapointing or devastating. There are other important things that can be wagered, but that will be revealed later in the RP

In a Duel, both players start with 100% hitpoints, as they inflict damage on each other the percentage will go down. Only attacks made directly against the other player (including as a transformed creature) will effect hitpoints unless an effect states otherwise. The character who hits 0% first is the loser. A player can also forfiet the match. Another way to lose is to simply run out of useable cards in a match. So you must use your limited supply wisely.

Maybe.

I've played Duelyst. Magic the gathering, runescape cards online. Hearthstone and probably some other shit I can't recall. I did used to have yu gi oh and pokemon cards though.

Give me the gravy colonel. What's the rough concept for the card system?

Because right off the bat for something like Guild I would suggest: you have a singular character. You have slots. Slot use equipment or abilities.

You can have minions or armies but they take up slots. Each slot you buy decreases your max HP or some shit.

@ScreenAcne We would have characters RP as normal every day people who have inherited the power of ancient mages.

The idea would be to use the creatures cards to reduce the opponents health to them being 'defeated' but not killed.

But they would not be stationary like in normal card games, they would be in an actual fight, dashing around the battlefield summoning cards against each other.

There is a card game like that, it's free on steam. It's called Duelyst. You might like. I found it pretty enjoyable. It's got cool pixel art.

But, I'm not really feeling this system. Movement is someething that translates poorly onto forums without visual constants.

I've toyed with an idea to turn my characters into card form, although that seems like it may turn out a lot different than this one. I'll keep an eye on this if it turns interesting.

*player 1 summons 1 cost minion in tile front of him. He/she doesn't move this turn*

*player 2's turn*
"Stop with the chit chat and show me action!"
*player 2 moves towards player 1's summoned minion and decides to use a spell to enchant him herself*

*player 1's turn*
"fufufu, you are truly foolish. Take this!"
*player 1's creature attacks player 2, and an arena like battle ensues between the two*
<if player 2 hits, deals x damage to creature. If creature hits, deals x damage to player 2. Battle ends in x turns or if one decides to leave the battle and move>

Thats how I think of it after all you said about it so far.

@6slyboy6 maybe I havent explained it very well, its not as 'structured' as a real card game, its more like an RP arena battle but with cards.

@6slyboy6 Yeah eventually, I plan on making a set of 75 cards to start off with, I'm about half way there.
