"Not all nightmares are so bad."
Name
The Boogeyman
Booker Babadook Manson
Nickname
Boogie
Species
Monster
Gender
"The name is Boogeyman, take a guess."
Appearance
Glamor
Boogie is a rather tall individual, standing at a slightly imposing 6'5", with a lean body build, though not overly muscle bound. His eyes are a rather uninteresting light brown, but they shift to a sickly yellow color that gives off a eerie glow whenever his emotions start to run high. Boogie's skin is a rich coffee brown in color and is decorated with a whole assortment of tattoos, all of which fit his more than a bit creepy personality quite well. His hair is a wild mane of dark brown locks and curls that hang down below his neck, he will occasionally tie it back in an attempt to tame it, that is paired with a strip of curly facial hair that runs the length of his jawline. His clothes are rather plain, consisting of an array of T-shirts, jeans, and boots.
No Glamor
Without his illusion Boogie's true form is... less than appealing to look at. Appearing like a monster that just stepped out of a nightmare Boogie truly lives up to the reputation of his name. Towering over others at a mindboggling twelve feet tall the horrifying creature literally fills the room with terror. The living horror is a skeleton like creature that is covered in a thick black pelt and is shrouded by a foul black miasma that seeps out of him at all times. His teeth which are jagged fangs go perfectly with the monstrous claws that make up his hands. He has four horns that sprout and curl from his skull. His empty eye sockets only hold two small yellow flames that act as the creature's eyes. Only adding to his unsettling nature the monster glides and slithers across the floor, getting rid of the thought that he has legs. Probably the most horrifying of all is the sights and sounds of snakes, rats, bats, spiders and all other manor of vermin crawling both on and in the creature.
"Appearances can be deceiving."
Job
Owner of a small costume/prank store just outside of Fabletown by the name of Blame It On The Bogeyman.
Personality
As you might expect from someone who use to spend his days prowling under the beds of unsuspecting children Boogie is cut from a very... different cloth than most. He has a plethora of what he likes to call quirks, such as his tendency to sleep under beds rather than on them or his sweet-tooth for insects and rats. Boogie has a complete, and more than slightly disturbing, memorization of the big book of phobias, but this doesn't stop him from rereading it. His dark interests are paired with his unnerving cool demeanor, Boogie being able to approach and speak about the most morbid of topics without batting an eye. He has been able to curb his once malicious nature to that of one that is more mischievous, having replaced his former hobby of kidnapping and eating children to simply replacing their candy with chocolate covered bugs. All of his less reputable aspects aside Boogie does have a side that wouldn't make people toss there lunch when it is shown. He has quite the loyal heart and once someone shows that they are worth giving it to nothing in hell would keep Boogie from helping them, though this help would be in Boogie's little twisted way. And quite shocking to most he is quite the romance novel reader, says that those are the true horror stories.
Fable
The creature that stalked those foolish enough to venture out at night, that lurked under the beds of children while they slept awaiting its chance to strike, that breathed fear into anyone that gazed upon it, that devoured whole villages and created cacophonies of shrieks that shattered the minds of the bravest of heroes, all of these were one monster and Boogie was proud to be this monster. The then Bogeyman plagued the Homelands, wandering the lands and spreading fear to anyone that crossed his path. Some nights eating a whole family, others kidnapping children that he had heard were misbehaving, it all depended on the fiend's whim. No one quite knew the monster's origins, till this day he had remained tight lip about it, but one thing for certain is that whatever gave birth to this creature unleashed a horror upon the world. The Monster's rampage would of certainly went on unchecked if it wasn't for the even greater threat of the Adversary's conquest of the Homelands.
War was a whole new form of terror, a form that even the Bogeyman couldn't approve of. So like many of the then monsters of the time Boogie did his best to thwart the Adversary's efforts at any chance he could, the occasional slaughtering of some troops here the devouring of supporters there. But also like many others Boogie realized that he had to leave the Homelands, so with a bitter taste in his mouth Boogie came to the Mundane world and abandoned his monstrous ways in the sake of peace.
Boogie spent decades trying to adapt to human ways of living, in all honesty he has still yet to master it. Doing odd jobs, from trash-man to butcher, to get by. Occasionally having to dip into the less than upstanding fields in order to make ends meat. He has occasionally been called in by the town's sheriff, and others who can afford to hire him, in order to put his old skills of intimidation and fear in order to assist with interrogations. Recently he has been able to save up enough money to open up his own little gag shop just outside of Fabletown.
"Things aren't looking too good for you."
Abilities
"No Freak Stays Down For Long."
Like many monsters Boogie is made of a sturdier stuff than most, even by Fable standards. Being stronger, faster, and even healing faster than others.
"Can't Touch A Nightmare"
Boogie is able to shift his form to that of a cloud of black fog, identical to the mist that surrounds his true form. While in this state Boogie can move much faster as well as slip through the tiniest of openings.
"It's All In Your Head"
Boogie is able to create allusions within the minds of others so vivid that they are unmistakable to that of real life.
"Let Me slip into something a bit more... comfortable"
Boogie can change his form as he sees fit. Being able to mimic people, animals, or even things that are a bit more... monstrous.
"I Can Smell The Fear On You"
Boogie literally has a sixth sense when it comes to detecting the fears of others. He is able to sense a person's fear manifesting itself in a plethora of ways, for example a person with a fear of being buried alive might reek of dirt or someone afraid of drowning would appear slightly damp to Boogie.
