Quite popular among his age group, James can also be a polite, social individual seeming to be the anchor in almost any group he finds himself in. His manners are solid but he will joke around, tease, let loose and just have fun when around those he knows he can trust. He is not above being the "that guy" at the party that people will tell stories about for years to come. He has an incredible sense of humor that makes talking to him quite easy and even has a bitter, sarcastic edge to him that keep him almost a mystery to those who don't know him well. He enjoys telling stories of his younger days as a rebellious criminal moving from one thing to the next - especially the stories that involve narrowly escaping conviction. Though he will never outright admit it, James misses the life he once held before settling down with a wife and from time to time can be found in a situation worthy of a story one day. And he absolutely loves it.
James cares about appearances more than almost anything else. Whether it comes to the way he physicality looks, to the way he appears to others in certain situations. This has made James to look like a bit of an asshole more times than not, simply because he's the kind of guy that cares what other people think. He feels like he has a reputation to keep despite what it might do to those he is closest to in order to remain feeling "cool" and accepted by his peers.
When it comes to his werewolf nature, James is a far cry from what others would classify as a true-blooded wolf. He is nothing like the ruthless, reckless beast that has been seen time and time again among his people - his alpha had taught him better than that. He has the upmost respect for Zoé and is perhaps the only person he will do anything for without fighting back - a respect he doesn't even give his wife on some occasions. He loves and respects his family, but when it comes to the hierarchy of his pack, his every instinct tells him to follow his alpha. No matter what. He will defend both to his last dying breath without question if it is what is needed, though tries to avoid conflict as much as possible despite the fact that he was ballsy enough to run away with Sombra without permission from anyone but each other.
Loyalty and respect go far with James. It angers him when people use others in order to get something done or take credit for deeds that someone else has done. He is an honest man and prefers to deal with his problems with people face-to-face rather than talk behind someone's back and gripe about it. He's a man of quick resolution and absolutely detests when problems get "swept under the rug" to be dealt with another day, because he knows that day might never come. Though when it comes to the well-being of his wife or pack, James would not stop at the chance to let the wolf within do what it has to do in order to keep them from being used in this manner. Though even in his wolf form, James is not a fan of violence and will only resort to such behavior if he feels that he has no other choice. And though he might go after someone expressing idiotic behavior or killing an innocent person, James is unsure if he could actually ever kill them despite how much they deserve it.

Hobbies:
James enjoys the casual/social drinking scene which includes activities such as darts and pool. He has gotten quite good at both of these games over the years and has even started getting into hustling in order to get more money out of his bets. When his "check-liver light" comes on and James needs a break from the bar crowd, he enjoys working out and going off-roading in his truck though he rarely finds time to do this on his own as his job is very demanding. One of the advantages of being a firefighter, however, is being able to work out while on duty in one of the gyms at the stations.
Strengths:
⚜ Fiercely loyal - James is, and always will be, loyal to Zoé above all other people. Though he is just as loyal to his wife, Sombra, if a situation were to come up where he had to choose loyalty between the two of them, James feels as though he would be compelled to choose Zoé.
⚜ His family and pack - James feels as though he is strong on his own, but with the knowledge that he has so many people behind him, having his back, James feels as though he has become ten times stronger. He will fight for them under any situation and is even willing to risk his life for each and every one of them, despite if they feel the same way about him.
⚜ Determination - James has a will that is unbreakable by most any means. Once he sets his mind on something, he sets out and has to do it, even if it means going behind people's backs that he knows would stop him, such as his wife.
Weaknesses:
☠ His family and pack - Though considered a strength, the fact that he will do literally anything for them also makes this a weakness. Should someone do enough research on James and the way he operates, they could get enough ammunition to use his family and pack against him to do their bidding.
☠ Regressing to old habits - James misses his old life. He misses the adrenaline rushes and the social life he had before deciding to run off with Sombra and getting married. Though the two of them have a great life together, James tends to make excuses to at least be able to go to a bar every once in a while and have a couple drinks with his friends and play pool. But that, even sometimes, isn't enough.
☠ Kind hearted - James can be too soft for his own good. He does not condone senseless violence which usually leads to him taking the first hit, and even possibly quite a few after that. He believes that there can be good in everyone, and that every problem has a peaceful solution, though the type of people he associates himself with do not share his line of thinking.
Brief Biography:
A third-generation native to Klamath Falls, James was the first born of two in the Burke family - the last name itself carrying quite a positive reputation around the town and putting quite a bit of pressure on him and his sister as they grew up, expected to be perfect children. Before Miranda was even born, James was a very active, difficult child from the moment he could stand on his own two feet. His sister was born when he was only five and though while most children his age would have reservations about having a sibling, James was over the moon to have a baby sister he could look out for and take care of. He was incredibly attentive to her and kept a watchful eye on her always, even as she grew into a "tough girl" persona which he always found to be quite charming and even a little bit adorable.
As James entered into his teen years, his knack for getting into trouble only increased and seemed to even get more dangerous for him. This streak in him, of course caused many fights within his family as he had a name and reputation to hold up but James just couldn't find it in himself to care enough to quit having his fun. Seeing her brother constantly in trouble confused his sister greatly, which hurt James in the special place of his heart reserved for her, but he didn't dare show it - not if he wanted to keep his own "bad boy" persona up. His family had one reputation to keep, and he had another. But he never stopped looking after Miranda.
It was also during these years that James met a set of twins - Alexander and Sombra. Being the same age he was, James got along quite well with Alexander and the two eventually became the best of friends. But what James hadn't counted on was developing strong feelings for Alex's sister, Sombra, who also seemed to have a knack for trouble. The two of them hooked up on occasion without telling anyone, knowing that it would put a strain on his friendship with Alex. Miranda eventually found out, expressing her own disapproval to James simply for the fact that Sombra didn't exactly help to discourage James getting into trouble.
And they did. James and Sombra were quite the pair when they began to hang out with each other more openly. What was considered petty crimes turned into much larger ones - starting fights, breaking and entering, tagging and even thievery. Because of Sombra's expertise in computer hacking, everything they did seemed to be so easy and the small handful of times they got caught, James took all the blame for. Sombra was his goddess and just like Miranda, he would protect her to the ends of Earth and back again a hundred-thousand times over. Their criminal escapades didn't exactly earn James any brownie points with Sombra's mother, being the chief of police. But neither of them even seemed to care so long as they were together and met each challenge of whoever attempted to keep them apart.
It was during one of their sneak-out-to-meet stunts that changed both of their lives together. Getting rather intimate in the back of his truck out in the country, the two were attacked by a supernatural creature - something neither of them understood to be a Werewolf until they noticed the strange things happening to them. The woman who had saved them from the initial attack, ironically enough, was Sombra's aunt and apparently, the Alpha Werewolf of Klamath Falls. She turned their worlds upside down as she began to explain the supernatural world and that she had been involved in it this whole time. James and Sombra would have died for sure if it hadn't been for Zoé, as she was forced into biting them to turn rather than kill as the first Werewolf had.
It was enough of a traumatic experience for James to want to start getting his life back on track. He was a new pup and naive to the supernatural world. Zoé ended up saving his butt quite a few times more as he tried to get used to things. He built a very strong respect for his Alpha and created a trust that could not be broken by any means and quickly adapted to the life of a Werewolf - a life with his pack. He kept what he was from everyone outside of his pack, including even his little sister Miranda which he used to be able to talk to about anything.
James' streak of getting into trouble began to diminish as he was more focused now on his new abilities and helping Sombra with hers. He didn't exactly understand how or why, but it seemed that his relationship with Sombra had even grown stronger than it had been before they had been turned. He ached to tell Alex and Miranda everything, but knew that it would only hurt and confuse them if he did. So to make things easier on everyone, James and Sombra skipped town with out a word to anyone save for Zoé. He owed his Alpha at least that much.
They moved to Los Angeles, California, where James eventually landed himself a job as a firefighter after a few years of struggling and trying to make ends meet. Never did he think that their lives would bring them back to Klamath Falls where everything happened, and that their lives would once more be thrown for a loop.
Werewolf Information
Type of Werewolf: An Omega werewolf, James is a member of the Klamath Falls pack, and as such is considered to be stronger than rogue werewolves due to the support they gain from the rest of the pack. As an Omega werewolf, James's eyes glow yellow in color.
Werewolf Abilities:
As a werewolf, James has the following powers and abilities:
Shape Shifting: James can change his appearance, allowing him to take on a humanoid werewolf form or an animal form. He prefers to stick to the latter.
Superhuman Strength: James is much stronger than most humans and even some other supernatural creatures, and is able to lift up to five tons.
Night Vision: James can see clearly at night and therefore does not fear the dark.
Retractable Claws and Fangs: James can control when his claws and fangs come out and retreat back in at will. Though sometimes, when angered, he is unable to control them coming out.
Heightened Senses: James can smell, see and hear far better than any human, ranging from a few meters, to up to a mile away; also due to having more control than other werewolves (both in his pack and lone), James has the ability to sense illness and, in some cases, the onset of an epileptic seizure.
Accelerated Healing: James heals quickly from most injuries and scars; and thanks to the initial bite, James has also been cured of all and any chronic illnesses like asthma, epilepsy or even cancer (both known and unknown), and now has an immunity to any disease.
Enhanced Agility: James can jump and climb at amazing speeds, leaping great distances of about thirty feet from the ground; he is also much faster than not only humans, but also some other supernatural creatures, able to run up to seventy miles per hour - James is also shown to have faster reflexes, allowing him to catch fast moving objects in mid-air, such as arrows or even lacrosse balls; his reflexes are fifteen times faster than that of a normal human.
Enhanced Strength: James is much stronger than humans.
Pain Transference: James, by touch, can absorb the pain of a human, animal, or supernatural creature, and can (at times) even go so far as to "heal" in some cases, though this ability takes a lot of mental energy out of him.
Memory Transference: James can transfer (give or take) memories by inserting his claws into the nape of an individual's neck. This ability can establish mind-to-mind communication and, with practice, allow for memory manipulation or erasure. He has not had many chances to experiment or practice this.
Canine Control: James can calm down other canine animals, like dogs, and also make them attack on command; however, this particular ability has the opposite effect on cats and other felines much to his dismay.
Werewolf Perks and Quirks:
As a werewolf, James has the following perks and quirks:
⚜ Camera flashes and some video recording devices cause James's eyes to glow making him nearly impossible to photograph, however James has learned to control this effect if he knows about it beforehand.
⚜ In the dark, James's eyes seem to react to light like a regular canine with eye-shine.
⚜ James cannot become intoxicated by drinking alcohol due to his enhanced healing ability, making it impossible for his regulars and friends to out-drink him. Though he can maintain a pretty good buzz for a while.
⚜ Smelling chemo signals allows James to know what someone is feeling.
⚜ James can control his healing ability, though only while he's conscious.
⚜ James, like other werewolves, has a tendency to draw a spiral to symbolize his intent for revenge.
