Profession: Kats parents own a small bread shop in the town where she spends most of her evenings working. Her job consists of watching the cash register, keeping the shop clean, running out to buy supplies, and sometimes even baking some of the bread.

Personality: Around people with whom she's never met, Kat is a bit of a nervous wreck. However, if she feels comfortable around you, you get the joy of experiencing her child-like personality and sometimes witty remarks. Kat is sweet and caring towards her friends and will go out of her way to make sure that nothing happens to them, often taking outrageous risks for their protection.

Equipment/weapons: Kat always keeps a small dagger hidden underneath her dress for protection.

Abilities: Kat doesn't really posses any unnatural abilities except for being able to understand cats.

Brief back story: Born into a poor family on the fourteenth of December, Kat grew up spending most of her life in her families bake shop. When the shop wasn't busy, her parents would find her sitting in the corner with her nose buried in a book on magick. She and her family were also practitioners of purification magick that was passed down from generation to generation when their kids reached a certain age.

She was always a quiet child and never really had any friends her age. She supposed that her nervous personality was a bit too annoying for them to handle and she guessed that she really didn't mind it all too much seeing as she's made it perfectly fine in life without companions. However, Kat did manage to make one close friend that shed often thought about having red relations with but it was proven too good to be true when he fell ill and died. Since then she hasn't really tried to become close to anyone else in fear that they will leave her as well.

Magic name: purification magick

Description: purification magick is simply the act of being able to purify things. It can sometimes be used to heal the sick by purifying their bodies of the disease and all it takes to activate this magick is a simple hand gesture and an extremely focused mind.

Would you accept a firefly beastkin? Essentially it would have harder skin that makes it a little more durable (although the character would be a bard so that would rarely be relevant), wings that allow for flight and some parts of it would constantly glow.

@Corpsylvania: Okay, to start with she should probably have a surname, and there needs to be a race bio for Cat Beastkin(assuming you mean Cat Beastkin by catkin, though, um, I've been taking the written-up Ratkin and Beastkin as two different things given that their degree of animal traits is pretty different). Then, um, as a fantasy setting, there's no real "December", though we don't have names for months and days and stuff yet, eh-heh. Magic doesn't get a k, though that's pretty minor...

As for your magic, it's a good start but there should be some more information on what it can do.

@Tenebrous Gaze: Well, a firefly beastkin, going by how animal-like beastkin have been shown to be with Mizuko, would at most have the wings. Harder skin and constantly glowing wouldn't enter into it, though they would probably be able to light up a certain part of their body.

Um... which... corresponding with the location that lights up for actual fireflies, um... would be a bit awkward but yeah.

Basically, beastkin are humans with some animal traits appearance and ability-wise. The races that are more like anthropomorphic animals(like Golem's Ratkin) are a seperate species from beastkin.

Ah, um, I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear enough... what I meant when I responded is that we kind of were already working on firefly beastkin. ^^; Um... you could play one when we've finished them, I suppose, but, um, I thought that it was clear.

Profession: Underground Courier, running illegal goods around the city for various criminals.
Personality:
Karin is a very friendly, causal person who likes to look up at the stars and wonder. She can be a very ingenuity, open minded person who always seems to find a way around an obstacle. Though she can be a bit short sometimes and never knows when to back down from a fight. She can be sarcastic at some times and doesn't really practice any real "proper" rules, often cursing like sailor and drinking like one too. Overall she's a person who will have a drink with you and listen to your life story.

Equipment/Weapons:
Carries two small double edged blades. Each one is aroud 13 inches long.
A pistol sized crossbow that fires small bolts

And one of her more personal inventions, a compact, steam powered grappling hook. A small canister of steam is carried on her waste that connects the the arm mounted unit on her right arm. A claw is shot forward with a burst of steam and clamps down on whatever surface it connects with. Then a small winch hoists the user torwards the claw. With a squeeze of the hand, the claw will release its grip. Karin uses this little invention of hers to get around the rooftops at a much faster rate. Though as it is a home grown invention, it works.... most of the time....

Abilities:
Agility is her strength, allowing her to climb up buildings and jump between rooftops.
Ingenuity is her mental strength, often being able to solve any practical problem with ease.

Brief Backstory:

Karin isn't one to talk about her childhood, not even with her closer friends. All one is able to get out of her is that her parents are still alive. Her later life though she'll tell a beggar on the street if she felt like it. She began as a regular courier for a middle class merchant, running documents and goods around the city for very small sums of money. She took to using the rooftops as they always provided a faster, more direct route to her destinations. One night she was running some finicial documents from one merchant to his guild when she quiet literally ran into a thief. The thief had been trying to find her to intercept the documents and as fate would have it, he was scanning the streets from the rooftops when he ran into her. He was much older than Karin at the time, when was in her late teens, and simply demanded the document, as a thief is no murder.

"Young lady! I demand you hand me over the papers you are currently carrying!" he exclaimed, holding out his hand

"How much do you got?" Karin replied flatly. The thief huffed and dug into his pockets for a few moments then produce a handful of coins. Her eyes widened. "THAT'S how much you make! Damn I'm in the wrong profession!"

The thief, amused by Karin's reaction, decided to show her the underbelly of the city. A few years later, she's making many times more than she did carrying legal goods, and despite a few "confrontations" doesn't have plans on stopping.

I think you've overestimated the technology level of this setting. ^^;

It's 1800s level. The only real guns were the uncommon flintlocks.

1800s? That means rifles, ram loaded rifles granted, but rifles no less 1840s saw the advent of repeater rifles, the stuff cavalrymen favored in the eventual American Civi- NO! BAD HISTORY NERD

Ehm ehm.

What I'm trying to get around to is that I forgot to give better details. The weapon is based off of early "Revolver" rifle, which was, to put it officially, a very shitty system. I sort of put a magical spin on it, to where this is a weapon you essentially sell your soul to and feeds off your energy. I didn't mean the picture to convey what I had in mind, but like I said earlier, I forgot to give important details, my bad. Ultimately it is a lass ditch, desperation weapon that helped save nation.

Oh wait! Idea just slapped in the face! What if that not only does this steampunky revolver rifle have its commitment problems, but also slowly causes the user to become more darker and sinister, as a unnoticed result of trying to combine magic with machine? Thus explaining the cruel brutality of the Arcis Foreign Legionaries and gradual degrade of Alika's mental state not only from the horrors of war, but the weapon itself!

I don't know.... that's the best I can think of. If it's not sufficient, I am, of course, willing to do some serious edits to the CS. Sorry that I thought you meant the entirety of the 1800s. Cause things get really interesting in terms of war tech when you get in the late 1800s NO GO AWAY HISTORY NERD SIDE OF ME!

To be honest, we didn't exactly want guns involved at all. But... flintlocks are kind of cool and it made sense to have them around, but still pretty rare. So we decided to be lenient about it and allow things like flintlock pistols and all.

Flintlock rifles do exist, but they're uncommon. And blending magic and technology, um... happens with some of the more expensive airships. They use steampunky stuff augmented with magic. It wouldn't do anything bad, except possibly make things require a bit more varied upkeep, since you'd need people good with technology and magic to keep them working properly.

And.. .honestly, the whole backstory reads much more like something WWI-based then something like this.

Personality: Zee may come off extremely obnoxious to most people but he tends to find himself doing the morally correct thing when it really matters. Brief Backstory:
Orphaned while a young child, Little Zee wandered the bustling streets of Kartsberg quite often in his formative years. Due to his rough childhood, he learned quickly the ins and outs of Kartsberg with some difficulty at first- but it only helped him grow stronger as a growing adolescent. He has a knack for getting into trouble and its often what keeps him occupied while loitering around. When he’s not causing mischief in the streets he’s often venturing through forests or crafting various small weapons of wood and things he picks up off the ground. At 16 he’s now trying to seek a real meaning in his life but still finds himself caught in the errors of his past.

Hmm... the only issue I see is I'm not sure how he would get out into the forests outside of Karstberg by himself, given that the city is walled to keep it protected from outside dangers. Not that going out there means death or anything, but there's guards posted and it can be dangerous given there can be things like T-rexes hanging around out there. But hm.

Also I'll need to talk to Rin but yeah. ^^;
