I had a thought for a Hawkgirl type character.

Instead of Hawkgirl being from Thanagar or a reincarnation of a girl from Thanagar. She would be from a race of hawks who can shapeshift into a humanoid form with wings to defend their territory from the evil humans. She would be like Wonder Woman (at least every version I know of) an ambassador to the human world that left without permission (mostly because she was bored).

Not sure if I will actually use the character on top of Hawk & Dove or not.

I usually don't give people two person teams but since these two [Hawk and Dove] pretty much CAN'T work apart I let it slide. Probably won't do multiple characters for everyone else until we get knee deep in the universe and at least push through the Starro invasion.

My Hawkman's still gonna be like the reference I posted on page 1. A little Hal Jordan with a dash of Tony Stark and BAM! Working on the OOC right now in a titanpad...

William "Billy/Bill" Batson [Image 2]

21

Divine Empowerment: Billy was given his powers by being reborn again by the Great Old Ones. By saying the name “Shazam!” which is an actual acronym for the names of each of the six Great Old Ones, he is empowered by an ancient otherworldly magic. The six old ones who give Billy their power are: Summanus, Hastur, Ammutseba, Zathog, Amon-Gorloth, and Mynoghra.

Superhuman Strength: SHAZAM can lift cars with ease, crush guns, and knock over superhuman enemies with little effort.

Superhuman Durability: Bullets have no effect on SHAZAM, knives conventional weaponry does nothing to his physical body as well. Only the most powerful superhumans can topple him as SHAZAM.

Superhuman Speed: SHAZAM can travel like lightning, flying through the air at multiple mach speeds.

Superhuman Agility & Reflexes: Self-explanatory.

Superhuman Perception: SHAZAM can hear and perceive things only magical beings can. He can also converse with those supernatural things.

Magic: He can control electricity and use various spells and enchantments. He can project magical lightning from his hands and fingers. He could not control it at first as any electrical device overloads then explodes (even car lights) when he touches them. He can control it now though. He can show those with evil in their hearts the nightmares of The Beyond. It is enough to throw a sane person into the "Mouth of Madness."

Magic Resistance: Being that his powers are primarily from magic, he is highly resistant to all forms of magic. A high form of magical power is the only type of magic that would be able to harm him.

Flight: SHAZAM can fly with no upper known limits. He can hover and soar at high speeds through an act of sheer will.

Self-Sustenance: As SHAZAM, Billy can survive without sleep, food, water or air.

Immortality: As SHAZAM, Billy is unaging.

Billy Batson: Billy is an average human with human weaknesses.

Gagging: As Billy, if he is gagged, he cannot say SHAZAM, which allows him to transform into a nearly unstoppable force.

SHAZAM: If struck by his own lightning, SHAZAM will revert back to Billy.

High Order Magic: Although SHAZAM's abilities give him a resistance to most magic, magic of a high enough order or level does have the ability to harm him at times. It would, however, take a being of great knowledge and extreme proficiency in magic and it's use to wield it in manner capable of causing harm to him.

Naivety: Billy tends to be more optimistic and gullible than other heroes. In some cases this works to his advantage, but it can also cause his peers to look down upon him. However, Billy's naivety also gives him strong moral values and helps him find the good in everybody.

Inexperience: Due to his relative lack of understanding in the usage of his abilities, SHAZAM doesn't quite understand the true extent of his mystical abilities. Failing to grasp how to properly use his divine magic has backfired on him more than once. For example, when Billy's transformed state used to short out electrical and mechanical appliances or how to cast enchantments on multiple host avatars at once without backlash. Another example, using his magic to illicitly earn money from an ATM without being able to shut it off.

On first appearance as SHAZAM, the champion appears intimidating and a force to be reckoned with, but his mannerisms say something entirely different. While he appears to be an adult male at the peak of masculinity, he is actually…um…a little immature? Billy Batson is still Billy Batson. As a young man entering his college and young-adult years, he can appear to be a little arrogant at times and even naïve. Even with all of his power, a confrontation is the last thing he wants. He does his best to talk his way around a situation even when he gets in trouble by other heroes. Can you imagine such a man flying away/fleeing because he drank the last soda from the fridge? I can.

Billy, as SHAZAM, is one of the most deceiving heroes. He is powerful and mighty, but he is also a frat boy with little experience. He finds it a little difficult to juggle college and his job with saving the day, and so he’ll gladly pass a situation off to another hero. “What? You can’t handle him? *sigh*…I’ll fight him for ten minutes, and then I gotta go to class!”

Ever since Billy ran into the Great Old Ones, finding out if their existence has been documented throughout history has become his hobby and his major in college. He likes to discuss and study ancient civilizations and artifacts. Believing in the Great Old Ones has also made him appear mad to other humans. But that’s okay because they just haven’t seen them yet. But they will!

I am open for plotting. I was attacked by the inspiration shark when I wrote Billy's history. I left the murderer of his parents a mystery so that it wouldn't conflict with other character ideas that this game may get. But yes, the twist on this character is very Lovecraftian.

Character Reimagined:

Secret ID: Scott 'Jimmy' Hendricks

Age: 27

Powers: regular human under a lightly armored flight suit. Scott also pilots an experimental plane called the Redwing.

Weaknesses: standard human weaknesses, his armor makes him about twice as durable. Anything other than small arms fire can mess him up.

Personality: bold, honorable, witty

Appearance:

BRIEF Bio:

Scott was your average guy growing up, played baseball a few years, pretty standard middle America stuff. However he was just in a small town in California. When he got out of high school, the young man immediately wanted to get his pilot's license and went to school for drafting and engineering as well at a community college on the outskirts of Coast City. Over the course of the next four years, Scott earned his engineering degree and met his best friend and mechanic Judah Marlow. After graduating Scott was rocked when his parents died in a house fire. He was given a check for $750,000 for the insurance claims. After putting the cash in several acounts, Scott went on the road and traveled up the coast for the next year or so. He saw Seattle, Star City, Denver, Dakota, before finally coming back to Coast City.

When he returned he bought some farm land that had recently been auctioned off and moved into the barn Roadhouse style save for the wifi he needed to run all his tech and such. Scott paved an air strip on his own, and within another seven months had a successful private plane operation with two different sized planes and a secretairy named Kaley.

After romance started to bloom between Scott and Kaley, his friend from college showed up talking about how they could change the world. Upon showing Scott what he'd been working on at STAR Labs, Judah mentioned some alien metals he'd aquired from the Lab. He wanted to fund the building of an experimental plane using the metals but didn't want STAR Labs to own it. Scott aggreed and the Redwing has been in the air now a half dozen times and out maneuvered some of the best at Edwards Air Force Base.

Now however, the community college where the two friends met is being overtaken by Starros. The authorities only got close enough to become infected themselves and the inside of the larger buildings seem to have some organic tech growing in them.

Notes:

* Like I said, a little bit Tony Stark, a little bit Hal Jordan.

* If I didn't mention before he'll also carry a couple pistols with different types of rounds.
Explosive rounds, hollow points, and non lethals.

* Might put the Hawkman symbol on his eventual flying suit somewhere.

I abandoned my Hawkgirl idea, when I compared the powers of Hawkgirl as I imagined her to Hawk & Dove the humanoid powers were identical. Which would have ultimately made it boring for me.

Finally decided on a concept.

What if an Imskian, Salu Digby, was somehow stuck on Earth. To hide her alien nature from Earthlings she develops a supersuit and becomes the Bumblebee.

Character Reimagined: The Ray

Secret ID: Raymond Terrill

Age: 30

Powers: The Ray has the power to process any form of illumination and use it for a variety of effects such as:

Flight- Raymond can fly at light speed, or nearly 700 miles an hour

Flashbangs- Raymond can produce a harmless amount of energy that is on par with the detonation of a nuclear bomb, rending everyone in a 50 mile radius to be blinded by the effects

Creation of Solid Light Constructs- for several seconds, Raymond can create solid light constructs on a simplistic level for hologram purposes

Invisibility- by bending the light waves around himself and others, Raymond can make himself invisible to the naked eye, but remains visible to all other forms of surviellance

Weaknesses: Raymond unfortunately possesses a rare and extreme case of Erythropoietic Protoporphyria, or an allergic reaction to light exposure. Whenever his powers are in use, he develops a body wide rash that takes weeks to a couple of months to recover from. This rash can range from localized after a quick fight with a criminal to an inability to move about as he would draw blood from too much movement with the infected area.

Personality: Hard drinking, Rough, Jerk with a Heart of Gold

Brief Bio

Raymond Terrill, otherwise known as T-Ray on the streets of Chicago amongst the less fortunate and homeless with whom he lives with. Raymond was born to unknown mother and a thug known on streets as Happy Terrill, and he was dumped on the doorstep of a homeless shelter who took him in and raised him. In his formative years he only ever heard of whom his father was, a selfish and morally ambiguous man with thoughts for only himself. Raymond though was unaware that the man he shared a room with in the shelter was Happy himself, acting like a guardian angel of sorts.

As Raymond grew up, he found himself very sickly during the day until a visit to a clinic doctor traveled his condition to him and told him that he could no longer walk in the light or it would kill him in a matter of weeks. So Raymond stayed in during the day and created a life for himself at night, finding himself to be much more agile and strong, his stamina as well being increased.

During the night though, the criminals of Chicago were much more active and Raymond had been pulled into that world through associates and people who paid for a little extra muscle. One night, he was pulled into a heist on a pawn shop next door to the homeless shelter that he lived at, and after an altercation and the plan going south, a fire had been started and consumed the shelter.

In attempt to stop things from getting worse, Raymond kept into action and tried to be a hero when he was confronted by his father in the blaze and witnessed him using his light based powers to fight the fire, but to no avail when a stray bullet from another victim's gin went off and struck him fatally. In his dying moments Happy revealed that he had never left his son's side and that the two of them had been exposed to a alien light the night he was born, which killed his mother and affected Raymond in both a positive and negative manner.

In a fit of anger and rage, Raymond consumed the heat of the fire and unleashed it upon the thugs. With his dead father in his arms, Raymond vowed that he would become a Ray of hope in the darkness of other's lives. Due to lying low during the day he has become an urban legend, but a hero in his own right.

Hermes Press actually prints the comics now.

Still a DC character at one point. You didn't say it had to be a character currently owned or licensed by DC.

If you insist that he isn't usable I won't use him, but you should make it clear that the character has to be currently owned or licensed by DC.

I thought it was clear, especially with the several ways I reiterated it.

In this RP, players will get the chance to recreate some of the bigger DC properties in a similar fashion to what happened when the Golden Age was replaced by the Silver Age.

REMEMBER!

You can take ANY DC Comics character or concept and completely change it up to suit your taste.

I made one reference to Marvel's Ant Man when talking about a new spin on Blue Beetle, but this was always meant to be DC themed. Sorry if it wasn't clear in the OP.
