Theme Song:

Name/Nickname: Yuo "The Wine Viper" Zhang. Jokingly calls himself: "The Alcoholic Eagle"
Age: 30
Gender: Male

Political Affiliation: Neutral
Fighting Style: The martial art itself has no official title. Yuo is often heard calling it after his own personal nickname: The Wine Viper style. It is an unpredictable, free-flowing fighting art that can be paradoxically elegant and outright obnoxious; meant to distract, feint, and counter from odd angles while maintaining defensive elusiveness. Yuo is not proficient with combat weapons, but he is a master at disarming them from assailants. The Wine Viper is heavily scrutinized in the Martial Arts community, seen more as a performing arts joke than an actual fighting style.
Personality: Yuo Zhang is a self-proclaimed poet, jolly and carefree as the wind. Responsibilities are put on the back burner as the self-proclaimed 'young master' is a man guided by his emotions. While he doesn't exemplify the mannerisms of a nobleman, he exudes a peculiar charm that draws people in.

History: Yuo Zhang is famously known as the black sheep of his family. His father is Grandmaster Di Zhang, one of the most respected martial artists in Daokai. Him and three other masters are overseers of the Iron School teachings. His brother, Hua Zhang, is equally (if not more) respected in Daokai for personally rescuing the Empress from a Thieves Guild. He has recently achieved Sword Saint status, the youngest martial artist to do so in Daokai. His sister, Xia, is a prominent official of the Imperial court, the first woman to do so in the Sky dynasty. She is loved for her calligraphy and storytelling with the Guzheng. Then there's his late mother, Lady Shumei, whose legendary singing voice commanded the entire City of Virtue to contemplative silence.

As for Yuo's accomplishments? He once single handedly drank a winery dry, submitted a wild boar in a mud wrestling competition, and survived a 300 foot drop off of a sea cliff, all in the same night. The exact order of those events are unknown. Suffice to say that such feats are omitted from the family scrolls. It makes one wonder why the Empire chose Yuo as one of the heroes tasked to finding The Pale Hunter. His brother Hua was originally the court's favorite pick, but Daokai's hero declined for reasons unknown. Some say the good brother wanted to give Yuo a chance to bring honor to their family name. Others say his sister Xia swayed the courts in favor of Hua's safety. He had a family after all. Nominating Yuo in his place offered the chance to rid the Zhang family from his shameful insolence once and for all.

Whatever the case was, in the end, the Emperor and Prime Minister Guan Zen were left with Yuo as the only alternative candidate from the Zhang family. While Yuo wasn't as respected and loved like his siblings were, the legend of his tomfoolery is well-received by regular folk - especially children. Their intention for him was to be more like a clown of the group, showcasing a lighter mood to an otherwise daunting task.

Inventory:
Red-colored cotton tunic & slacks with gold trim. Black Slippers. White Hand Wraps & Leg Wraps. Wooden Wine Gourd. Travel sack containing: Oil lantern, travel papers, basic calligraphy set & writing papers, fur blanket, money bag, & red robe.

Other: The Zhang family household is stationed in the eastern peninsula, within walking distance of the Iron Schools training grounds.

Samantha Oshiro

Theme song:Klrx & Kaj - Empathy

Age: 33

Political Standings: Despises the Emperor's ways. Samantha believes a noble government should be democratic, host fair trials to those found guilty of offences and also give back to his people.

Weapons/inventory: A Dao. Apart from water, currency and light snacks, Samantha never carries a great deal of items while traveling.

Fighting Style: Samantha is highly skilled with her sais and has adopted a mix of jujitsu and muay-thai style of fighting during close quarter combat battles with them. She is also proficient in silently dispatching, but often chooses not to kill unless it is absolutely necessary. She will use her Dao mostly for defence.

Personality: Samantha cares a great deal for other's lives and finds much value in humility. Though she is wise, she can sometimes be naive and is quick to believe people's good intentions. She is mostly optimist and good-natured, he smile never fails to warm even the coldest of hearts.

History: Samantha was orphaned at a very young age and hardly remembers anything about her biological parents. Though from her appearance and name Samantha guesses that one of her parents was a westerner - maybe both. She never lingered on the though long enough to do more than wonder haphazardly; her heritage is and will always be from the land of Daokai.

The orphanage in the city of Udai was small, mostly run by the local unemployed women. Samantha wasn't particularly social and was often pegged as shy and introverted. She would get angry but never showed it, having no outlet for it she decided it was easier to stay away from people instead of using them as punching bags, literally.

She rarely joined the other orphans for any activity or gatherings and instead chose to spend most of her time at the neighbouring dojo. She expressed a particular interest in martial arts and fighting. Masimoto, her sensei, sensed a great power within the shy young girl but saw how her anger set her back. Before even showing her anything, they practiced meditation until she had full control of her emotions. Masimoto trained her for years to come and as he had not married, or had any children, her took on a paternal role with Samantha early on. On her 16th birthday, he gifted her a hand-crafter Dao sword, which she still carries with her to this day.

When Masimoto passed away, she left the village and travelled around the continent, finding great peace in helping others. Samantha did everything from bringing thieves to justice to smaller tasks like finding lost horses and bringing them back to their owners.

Theme Song:
[youtube]google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&u.. (second wind theme)
[youtube]google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&u.. (normal theme)

Name/Nickname: Faungatua Iverum (commonly mistaken for 'Fuana' do to her appearance send hard to pronounce name. She does not correct them)
Age: 22
Gender: Female

Political Affiliation: Being a stranger to the lands, for the most part, she has no bias as of yet.

Fighting Style: Fauna's style with her weapon is very basic. It focuses on overwhelming the enemy with powerful and quick attacks to close distance to grab, disarm, kick or claw at the enemy before her. Her style takes principles of HEMA in terms of preparing attacks to turn each attack into a block wheN needed, and requires each block to be used to put the enemy off balance and open. Her style is grounded, power based and requires a lot of endurance.

When not using her weapons, she uses a strange mixture of folk wrestling and boxing that has been influenced by other wrestling styles and ancient boxing styles to create a heavily power based style. Her style is based on muscle memory and digging into the enemy's guard with a dart and dash to either grapple the enemy or to attack their ribs and kidney woth extremely powerful strikes. The style requires you to allow yourself to be hit in order to tank through it or coumter.

Personality: Fuana is a very stand-offish person who is slow to accept or trust people, but quickly to dislike them, and even quicker to anger. She is a stubborn person, both in fights and things involving pain where she will stand until every bone in her body is broken, and in other aspects where they choose a decision and stay to it and aread hard to convince or change her mind. That being said she is slow in decision making and tends to think hard on each big decision. Outwardly she seems savage to most: seeing battle as the best way to settle arguements, gruff and rude, and comes off as foolish, but what she lacks in boom smarts and street smarts she makes up for in survival skills and her ability with animals and warrior/nature based training. She has a necklace of bones.

History: Fuana was born in the island city states, Tathili, unaligned and just off of the Daokai. She, like so many of them, hado a small community of farmers, spice merchants and other exotic and simple crafts. When the people gathered for a festival she proved herself as the strongest in her village when she one the wrestling tournament, and later that year, she managed to defeat (in unarmed combat) a fully grown, notorious monster boar that had been destroying crop for years. From there, she was allowed to participate in battles between other islands, and once again proved herself as one of the best, defeating many of the best warriors of other islands, only to be defeated by a man who took pity on her and spared her under the condition she became his student. Under his training, he worked hard on perfecting her extremely unrefined technique, as up until then she was able to win almost sheerly out of intensity and physical power. They trained hard and his training was brutal, but when she was done, she took a new interest in technique and method to her fighting. She continued to prove herself and claiming many new things to study and hone her skills whenever she could. Eventually, she learned of what was taught in other parts of the world and eagerly she set off into the mainland. She traveled all across the globe, learning all skills and adding fighting technique to her ever growing strength. After a long time of travel, she moved into the daokai lands. Almost immediately she learned of a request for powerful warriors. She offered herself, showing and explaining her technique. Begrudgingly they allowed her to accompany them. She would be allowed to see the way people here fight, and they would get help.

Inventory: Fauna wears very strange clothing, as she comes from a very strange place. Her shirt is made of Llama wool and has been extremely cleaned but dyied and woven tightly and perfectly to make it a very good shirt and thick, as it is made to pad her slightly in case caught off gaurd in an ambush. The shirt splits at her sides to expose a small bit of her skin, her pants a black and baggy, made of imported silk textiles that slowly made their way into trade with her islands. They tighten around her ankles. Her feet are covered in leather moccasins.

Over her head she wears a strange mask, meant to be the mask of a spirit of battle, it is colored red and orange, two huge eye holes, and one mouth. It is attached to a long albino wolf pelt.

Besides that, she carried a 3 foot short sword that is completely straight, single sided with the top being an edge like a box cutter. The gaurd is a square, short gaurd and the shaft is wooden. Besides that she has a dagger made from the bone of the large boar she killed, and a boomerang.

For non-combat items she carried a bag of stones with ruins on them, a waterskin, flint and steel, a flask of oil. A mirror, a map of daokai, a stone bowl and Grinder to work a salve, and a pack of dried meat.

Other: she practices an animistic beleifs in her religion.

Name/Nickname: Nian Dong
Age: 20's
Gender: Male

Political Affiliation: Neutral
Fighting Style Dog Beating Stick

It is a stick/staff oriented fighting style that can be considered one of the "actual" styles of the Beggar Sect. The Beggar's Sect being comprised of all sorts of people features a very diverse showing of styles and certain hybridization of their styles due to that. However the Dog Best Stick and some other styles are 100% homegrown within the organization. The Chief of the Beggar's Sect is an expert in this style and all future chiefs must know this style which is tied to the passing down of the chief's dog beat stick which is a simple bamboo stick with some ornamentation and a drinking gourd tied to it.

Personality: He is roguish and playful. He's more than willing to break rules such as stealing or being somewhat of a dick to others. However there is an ethical core to him instilled to him via the upbringing in the Beggar's Sect where ultimately he in his own ways is supporting others less fortunate than him as well as trying to support things to help make society more equal.

History: Nian Dong was essentially a street urchin born to peasants. He grew up aimlessly wandering around the streets stealing or begging for money and or food. Eventually he sort became fully dedicated as beggar and petty thief and overall snot nosed brat. Things would change when he try and take the Chief of the Beggar's Sect drinking gourd for some easy booze. The Chief after backhanding him was somehow amused and decided to take him and teach him a more righteous way of living on the streets. He was taught their code and eventually martial arts after showing interest and some degree of aptitude. Fast forward several years and now has grown up into handsome man skilled with a staff and who's very much active into the sect's political scene. Due to this he's been taught literacy and writing to some degree as he sort of swaps between the "dirty clothes" position who are the recognizable members as they look like the vagrants and poor to whom the name of beggar applies and that of the "plain clothes" which are non-beggar people that have infiltrated every area of society.

Inventory: Bamboo staff, drinking gourd, some stolen food, and a set of much nicer clothes he takes care to keep clean.

Theme Song:
IDK, will update should I find something appropriate

Name/Nickname: Wei Zhan Wu
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Political Affiliation: Neutral

Fighting Style: Zhan Wu’s martial education has been shaped by the feared Han Lieren, the Howling Hunters Agency, and in their care he has learned a modified version of the Eagle Claw. Though the style is known for its close range repertoire, in particular its system of clinches, takedowns and grappling holds, Zhan Wu prefers to stay at a longer range initially. Rather than rush into a direct clash he employs swift, efficient footwork and circular deflections to keep opponents at bay, striking at them with powerful and precise long-range attacks that are perfectly capable of ending a fight on their own.

In particular, the Agency’s training regimen included an extreme focus on body conditioning. After all, a member of the Howling Hunters should be able to strike down prey at any time without the need for weapons. Wei Zhan Wu is quite durable and, though he is not as strong as others more dedicated to sheer power, he can forego weapons without being at too much of a disadvantage, aided by the rather uncommon ability to deliver powerful whip-like lashings with his long ponytail. In exchange for all this, however, he is just not very good with weapons at all, especially for someone of his otherwise advanced skills.

Finally, though he has received some training as an assassin, Zhan Wu sees most of the practices as unglamorous and beneath him. He has a strong dislike for the cowardly use poisons and narcotics, he sees skulking about in the shadows as the realm of lowly thieves and his ego makes it very hard for him to consider blending in with crowds. He is, however, lithe and agile, capable of moving swiftly, softly and silently with some ease even if he’s not on the level of better infiltrators.

Personality: Zhan Wu is just not the most pleasant person to be around. Cold and aloof, he’s not one to hold back on biting remarks and his advanced martial arts skills have given him a narcissistic streak and a habit of looking down on others. A strong believer in self reliance who has achieved his current station through his own sweat and blood, he is also hardly the type to go out of his way to help others and actively despises those who are content to let their fate play out as it may. Despite all this, he does have some redeeming features and holds himself to a high standard.

Placing himself above common treachery, the Howling Hunter sees his word as his bond and is a dependable ally once one is sure they have gained his cooperation. He is also fearless and willing to risk life and limb for his goals, and while he is undeniably ruthless he isn’t one for killing or maiming others without proper reasons to do so, especially when it is clear they are not at his level. Though harsh and uncompromising, his words and actions often seek to drive others to better themselves as he has done in his life and he is very open about praising others should they do something that warrants it.

History:
Unlike the Grand Temples or the Iron Schools, the Han Lieren Agency, the Howling Hunters, isn’t exactly well known to the common people. In the martial arts world and amongst major officials, however, they’re a synonym for excellency. Though a comparatively minor group as far as numbers go, this unorthodox organization is famed for their high standards and their enviable success rate in acting as bodyguards, shock troops, infiltrators and assassins for hire. A strong code of conduct helps separate them from common thugs, and even the court occasionally makes use of their deadly skills for their own benefit.

While the Agency often employs less than upstanding martial artists shunned by more orthodox organizations, it also takes in orphaned or abandoned children to raise its own members from the ground up. Wei Zhan Wu is such a case, a child who even at death’s door displayed an unusual strength of will and was thus taken in to be raised as a warrior and assassin. Though a rough upbringing, nevermind the moral implications of it all, Zhan Wu is fanatically loyal to the Agency and has never forgotten that it was by their hand that he was given a future and a station so much higher than anything he could’ve dreamed of.

And it’s this loyalty to what he sees as his brothers and sisters that drives him now. One of the victims of the Pale Hunter, unknown to many, was a member of the Han Lieren and the Agency cannot allow such a thing to go unpunished. The task has fallen to Wei Zhan Wu and him alone, a test for the young martial artist before his training progresses any further. He is to take the Pale Hunter’s head, through whatever means he deems necessary, and success will see him rise further up the ranks of the shadowy organization.

Inventory: Nothing in particular beyond a fair amount of funds.
Other: This is Hwang Jang Lee, who’d later go on to play Thunderleg in Drunken Master, performing an approximation of the Eagle Claw as the main antagonist in Snake Under the Eagle’s Shadow. This, meanwhile, is Frankie Chan (in the yellow robes) showcasing the style with more obvious grabbing displays as the main rival in The Prodigal Son.
