Hello World-

I have been a roleplayer since I was in high school. I won't detail how long it has been since I left, but suffice it to say that it's been a while. It has been a year since I did any online, as I've been LARPing as of late, and playing D&D. However, I'm excited to get back into the game.

I much prefer group roleplays, with less than 10 players, who dedicate themselves to a lengthy and complex storyline with intertwining plots. I'm a fan of stories that take place in both established and invented fantasy worlds, though a good story set in the real world is always quite fun. I once participated in a campaign which took place entirely inside of a space capsule, spiraling endlessly without aim into deep space.

I'm a teacher, though not one of the boring kinds. I teach violin, and I adore my students more than anything.

Welcome to RPGuild. My main projects (including the role-play I'm currently running here) generally take place in the real world, though I've worked with plenty of fantasy worlds as well. I've just got a preference for ones that're more rooted in reality. I'm also on the older scale when it comes to role-players (thirty-three, to be specific). Dedicated role-players are definitely what I look for too, since you can't have a good role-play with flaky people.

P.S. Violins are awesome. If I ever learned an instrument, it'd probably be that or piano. Granted, I like a lot of instruments and music styles, and not all of my favourite pieces of music necessarily use one of those two instruments, but a lot of the good stuff does.

Hello, Wise One! Welcome to the guild!

As someone who has always been intrigued by LARP, but never really had any chances to engage in it, what sort of advice can you give me?

@Shoryu Magami If you have a campaign that's newly started, or that you're about to begin, I would love to join! And it's never too late to begin violin lessons. Why, I just got a new student, who is 67 years old. If she can start at that age, then you can start at 33!

@Sanctus Spooki Don't be afraid to be ridiculous. I always play a healer or another forgettable role, but I end up having tons of fun. You don't have to be some awesome paladin to have fun- you can be anything, even a freaking blacksmith, and still have an incredible time.

You meet amazing people, and they are great contacts to have for all sorts of things, so keep in touch with anyone you find interesting. For example, I met a guy who owned a liquor store, and he has advised me on what gifts to get loved ones for years now.

If you have a specific character you like to play in roleplay online, they may not fit your LARP persona- those tend to be closer to idealized versions of ourselves, or otherwise alternate versions of what we are in real life, while online, we can act as whoever we want. In LARP, you are constricted by a few things, but there's no need to let that restrict the fun. For example, I'm super slow, so I can't outrun people. However, I can climb trees really well, and snipe from a distance. It's quite fun, once you find those things you enjoy.

Based off this discussion, I presume that 'LARP' stands for 'Live Action Role-playing'. Interesting. I've only sort of done stuff like that before, and never with like a group of people I don't know or anything. I got my start in storytelling/role-playing as a verbal storyteller though, as well as by creating games for my younger siblings and friends to play when I was a kid.

I'd love to pick up music at some point to be honest, especially since it'd put a lot less physical strain on me (I suffer from some rather nasty physical health problems) when compared to something else I've always wanted to learn (martial arts). I'm mostly just too busy right now, due to my writing projects.

Since you asked me about a campaign, I do actually have one in the midst of starting up. It's the one I mentioned I'm running in my last post. It's technically listed as 'Full' now, but I'm still accepting last minute entries until we get to a specific plot point where they'll no longer be accepted (which shouldn't happen for a couple of weeks still, I imagine). If you check my signature, you'll find a link to it. Fairly extensive OOC, so make sure to read it all to make sure you'd actually stick with us. If you're using a phone or something and can't see signatures, I can give you the link, or you can find it in my user bio.

I assume your name means you enjoy Wheel of Time?

@POOHEAD189 Yes! It's one of my favorite series, ever. I clearly have a favorite character- Avi is just such an incredibly conflicted woman, it's so interesting to dissect her motives.

@aviendhaThere was an RP that unfortunately died a month ago that was based on Wheel of Time. Hopefully another pops up because I too really enjoy the series.
