JUNE 5TH, 2015

It was a more mild day for June, with a cool breeze brushing across the landscape. The sun was out in the open, without the shrouds of the clouds to break up it's visage. It's a shame that this is one of the more rare days that Camp Wachata has. While one can expect sunny days rather often at Camp, the breeze and cloudless sky was definitely rare. Most days, nowadays, seemed to be either rainy, foggy, or a combination of both. That didn't stop the campgrounds from enjoying those days just as much, however.

The buses, cars, and taxis were dropping off a steady supply of campers, and counselors, already. It was nearly 10 a.m. and most of the camp had apparently showed up. The long drive that was taken to reach Camp Wachata drove home the feeling of isolation. Civilization would be much farther away than a hop, skip, and a jump. The new campers and new counselors, with help from the campers and counselors whom have been here before, were expected to pick their own cabins, and bed, meet new friends, and get situated at Wachata. It wouldn't be until nightfall, that the entire camp would meet at the Wiki Wiki Fire Ring that the Campmaster would welcome this year's newcomers. Weather cooperating, there would even be a bonfire tonight.

Banners hung on The Canteen building, where the parking lot was for the campers and counselors who were dropped off, that read 'WELCOME TO CAMP WACHATA!'. While the landscape of the Camp itself seemed welcoming, it was obvious that most of the official staff, not counting the counselors, weren't as welcoming. For those that had been here before, this was a common sight. Most of the time, activities and day-to-day was to be handled by the counselors. The Campmaster and staff only showed up to organize activities rarely, giving the camp a very hands-off feel. It seemed, though, that this was how most of the camp preferred it. The corps of counselors were shown to be more than capable to organize events, with plenty of veterans whom had spent more than a few years at Wachata.

Despite the less than welcoming atmosphere, it seemed the arrivals weren't deterred. Old friends reuniting, new people apprehensive of the Camp, returning people helping the new arrivals, and some campers and counselors who simply filed away towards the cabins to get an early pick. Camp Wachata was definitely a buzz with all the activity that now permeated it.

Hopefully, this excitement wouldn't die in the following weeks of Camp Wachata's summer camp.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shayne Kowalski

With more than a little caution, Shayne reluctantly stepped off the bus that had carried her and a few other campers. Shayne had made a point to stick to herself, and stay away from the other campers that arrived on the bus. Now, it seemed, she'd have no choice but to interact with others. The campground was filled with the arriving campers and counselors. Somewhere, Shayne had heard that about 120 people came this year, practically a full camp.

Luckily, the sheepish tomboy had gotten a map. It was the typical Summer Camp map, cartoonized locations along with a big watermark that ready 'CAMP WACHATA!". Scoffing to herself, Shayne filed a little onto the bustling campground. This was all new to Shayne. She was used to not being shy, or afraid of interaction with others. Although, she was literally surrounded by over 100 people she had never met before, it was understandable she'd feel this way. Once Shayne could settle, the feeling of being overwhelmed would leave her, and she'd be able to interact with others. Hopefully.

Pulling her ball cap farther down on her head, she took a few steps tentatively around The Canteen. Some campers were already playing around at the basketball court, and others were chatting at picnic tables. Doing her best to not look the odd thumb out, Shayne glanced around the beautiful Camp, hoping to find the trail that led to the girl's cabins. Sure enough, there was a small procession of a few different girls heading on a trail that went around the lake. Glancing down at the map, Shayne could tell that they were headed there.

Something kept Shayne from following the girls, however. Was it a need to introduce herself to someone? Was it a want for human interaction with people her own age, something which she hadn't had for weeks? Or was it an intense desire to meet everyone at once and get the awkwardness and feeling of being overwhelmed out of the way? Whatever the feeling was, it kept Shayne stuck to the ground where she was at, looking gormless as she glanced around the fleet of arrivals.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Caleb Holderson

Like last year, Caleb had arrived a day early, along with a few of the other veteran counselors. They had spent the previous day cleaning up, making sure everything was in standing order, and even having a small party on the edge of the lake. Now, Caleb stood solemnly by The Canteen, watching the arrivals come en masse. Caleb was content to hang back, and only help out any stragglers that were left over after the big surge of campers.

Normally, Caleb would be more eager to find people who needed help. Last night stopped any chance of that. While Caleb was his normal quiet, and calm, self, he had drank a little too much. One of the counselors, a 25 year old that goes by Riley, had smuggled enough beer to last more than a few parties. Where the beer was at now, Caleb had no idea. All he knew was, that despite him and the few others, they likely hadn't even put a dent into stockpile. It was easy enough to say that Caleb had no intention of indulging like that, again. At least, for a few days.

Caleb adjusted the straps of his backpack, pulling the strings tighter. Fidgeting. He had already claimed a bunk in Cabin #1 at the boy's cabins, leaving him with little to do but to watch the incoming campers. Slightly leaning against the outside wall of The Canteen, Caleb pulled out his cell phone. No service. Like always. Camp Wachata was behind the times in the sense of communications. The Lodge had the only working telephones, and those were as old as the Camp itself. Caleb remembered how he had spent his first year here, and had hiked to one of the summits of Lookout Mountain, trying to get service. It didn't work. Nearly cracking a smile to himself, Caleb wondered how the newcomers would deal with this. The lack of reception isn't stated in the brochures. Last year, it hadn't taken very long before a few campers were already at The Lodge, calling their parents and guardians to come pick them up.

Putting his nearly useless cellphone away, Caleb turned his attention back to the flow of campers. As diverse, and colorful, as any group of people, Caleb had a welling sense of excitement growing in his chest. Maybe instead of planning basket ball tournaments, teaching people how to fish and tie knots, he'd be able to do something a little less monotonous.

Nico felt her eyes slowing to a close as music played quietly through her old cassette player. Her black hair rested against the window of her father's car. The journey was quiet and slightly awkward to say the least. She'd been vocal about how much she didn't want to go to the camp ever since the idea was brought up and had been giving her parents the silent treatment since leaving the house. Hell, after they proposed the idea of taking the bus with the rest of the campers she almost punched through a window. The idea of getting on a bus full of people who she felt were bound to mock her would have been possibly the worst experience of her young life.

Just as she began to drift off to sleep she felt the car come to a stop and the hand of her father patting her on the shoulder. She turned to him with a scowl to which he replied with an apologetic smile. She knew her parents only meant the best for her, but honestly she would have preferred to be a recluse than be forced to go kayaking or any other of the activities they had at the camp. She gave her father a quick hug and an even quicker goodbye while exiting his car and surveying her surroundings.

It was only when she turned and saw her father had already driven away that she realized she had forgotten the map of the camp. She rubbed her eyes out of frustration, this would mean talking to people. She stood for a moment in thought. All of this pent up angst could do her no good. She'd have to stay here and that was that, she may as well find someone who wasn't half bad and spend her time with them rather than moping around on her own for weeks on end.

She took a step into the camp, scanning the area again for someone who looked as lost as she was. Among the hordes of people walking around in small groups she managed to spot someone else seemingly on their own. She maneuvered through the crowd towards her before speaking.
"Hey, uh, do you have a map? I sort of lost mine." She let out a nervous laugh. Her Ontario accent wasn't obvious, but to the keen ear it could be picked up on.

Skyler's father was surprised when she asked him if she could go to the Camp Wachata. He simply didn't understand why. Her father regarded camping as a calm activity, which didn't suit Sky. She was getting more violent every year and he was pretty sure that she was planning something. Yet something inside of him told him to let her go. So he did.

Sky(ler) stepped off the bus slowly but confidently. She holds the map of the camp in her palm as she moves forwards. Her palms begin to sweat- too many people... too many unfamiliar faces. She was already regretting her decision. Yes, she wanted to be like her mother, but she didn't want any human contact. To her other people seem hostile- dangerous even. For the first time she unfolded the map. Looking over the lockations, she decided to go to The Girl's Campground hoping that there's going to be less people there.

As she opened the doors to the cabin in the middle, she noticed no one has chosen this cabin.
"Jackpot" she whispered to herself.
Sky walked up to the bed that was the furthest to the door and began sorting her luggage out.

Ana had arrived at the camp far earlier than was strictly reasonable. While for most this would have been a prime opportunity to secure a good room and make friends, Ana had instead opted to capitalize by finding a comfortable spot to sit and draw. For her, that meant sitting cross-legged atop one of the picnic tables near The Canteen with a sketchbook in her lap, scratching lazily at the surface of the page with a Dixon Ticonderoga that had evidently seen its fair share of work, as it had been sharpened to the point that it was now scarcely more than a nub. There she had sat for at least an hour as more and more campers poured into the camp. Ana, for her part, had seemingly been entirely unfazed by the multitude of people that had arrived. To be fair, it seemed this lack of acknowledgement had been mutual, as thus far no one had made any attempt at socializing... or if they had, she hadn't noticed. Her only companion was a small robin that had opted to rest his wings at the picnic table. The girl looked quizzically at the tiny creature for a moment before deciding it was a perfect model, stealthily turning the page of her sketchbook and starting up a new drawing.

There the odd girl sat, gleefully sketching her new feathered friend without a care in the world. She hadn't considered the possibility that someone else might've liked to have used that particular picnic table, and that sitting on top of it might be considered a bit rude, or that she might have inadvertently singled herself out as a curiosity. No, she seemed more than content to remain oblivious, quietly laboring away at her work. The soft breeze tousled the ink black ocean of curls atop her head as she drew, and the chatter of the campers served as a soothing bit of ambient noise. After some time, she put her pencil down, holding up her sketchbook beside her strangely cooperative subject. The image was a near-perfect likeness of the little creature. She looked from the page, to the bird, back to the page, once again to the bird, a third time to the page, a final time to the bird, and nodded seriously before giving the bird a thumbs-up. The bird, being a bird and having no understanding of the appreciative gesture of his admirer, decided that he had rested long enough and fluttered away. Her labor complete, Ana placed the book on the table and stretched her arms above her head with a soft yawn. It was at this point that she noticed the sheer number of people who had somehow crept into the area during her drawing session. "Oh..." She said softly, looking around at the unfamiliar faces with a look of absolute and utter bewilderment.

Shayne Kowalski

Shayne was shook out of her trance, by the words of a stranger. Glancing over to the girl, Shayne's immediate thoughts were that the girl was a goth. However, Shayne wasn't necessary sure about that, as the girl definitely didn't give off that kind of vibe. "Oh, uh, yeah, totally." Shayne was practically tripping over herself responding to the girl. It was obvious to anyone that she wasn't expecting someone to come up to her and engage her in conversation.

Shayne took the map that she had in her hand, and passed it over to the girl. The map itself was wrinkled, as if someone had consistently messed with it for a few hours. Shayne let out a smile, once she realize she was handing the girl a less than perfect map. The smile was the tale tail sign that Shayne was moderately embarrassed. The had spent the entire bus ride over fidgeting with the map in her hand, reducing it to the state it currently kept.

"Oh, my name's Shayne, by the way." Shayne managed to spit out, as she lifted her ball cap slightly up off her head. By this time, Shayne had gathered her thoughts enough to realize that this girl was new to camp, otherwise she wouldn't of asked for a map. Who better to make friends with than someone who is equally as put off by the camp as you are?

Nico let a small smile pass her face as the girl passed her over a map. The smile quickly faded when she actually looked at the map. Not because it was crumpled and slightly torn, oh no, Nico couldn't care about that. What she was disappointed with was the Disneyland-esque formatting of the map. It was like the campers were children. Granted, a lot of them were children, but that's beside the point.
"Jesus, could they make it anymore kid friendly?" She asked rhetorically under her breath.

She looked at the map for a little bit longer, before glancing upwards in the direction of the cabins. She folded the map up before turning to Shayne.
"I'm Nico, nice to meet you." She spoke. She glanced over at the numbers of girls moving towards the cabin areas. "Hey, uh, I dunno if you're as crazy for this whole camp thing as I am, but I think we should make a move towards the cabins if we don't want to be stuck with the mean girls" She said, sarcasm prevalent in her voice. Then the anxiety kicked in. She was being far too cocksure of herself, especially in her speech, she had only just met this girl and she was already assuming that she didn't want to be at the camp. She began biting one of her nails, painted black before readjusting the grip she held on her bag. "Uh, that is unless you're already rooming with someone of course" Another nervous laugh broke through her lips.

Mya waved goodbye to her brother as she climbed out of his truck. She had offered to take the bus just like she had offered to last year, but her dad insisted that either he or her brother drop her off. Glancing around at the other arrivals she saw a few familiar faces but nobody she could call by name. Deciding to save the mingling for the get together tonight Mya hoisted her duffle over her shoulder and started towards the path to the girls' cabins. Bumping into more than a few members of the mass she mumbled sorrys over her shoulder.

As she reached the path that was mostly clear except a few others heading to the cabins. Mya looked over her shoulder at some of the campers she could tell were clearly new. Remembering what it was like to be new to all of this, she thought she should really be more helpful. She looked around for the one who looked the most lost and observed a girl on a bench. She appeared to have just finished a drawing or something as she was putting away supplies. Mya headed in her direction as the girl seemed to have a bewildered look on her face. Mumbling more sorrys she finally reached her. "Hi... I'm Mya. Can I help you with anything?"

Ana turned slightly as a brown-haired girl approached her. Finally realizing that she might have looked a bit out of place, she nodded slightly. "Oh... Um, maybe?" She tilted her head slightly to the side, still looking more than a bit confused at what she perceived to be the sudden arrival of a multitude of campers. "I, uh, wasn't really paying too much attention. I didn't realize so many people had shown up..." Her eyes slowly drifted over all the strange new faces. "Lot of people..." She seemed to say the words to herself, thinking out loud more than anything. After taking another moment to appreciate the sheer number of people who had arrived under her not-so-watchful eye, she drifted back to the conversation. "Right, nice to meet you Mya, my name is Ana. Do you know if we're, like, supposed to go somewhere in particular? I've been here for a while, but I kind of got caught up in drawing and I guess I lost track of time or something." Her words drifted lazily from her mouth, and gave the sense that she was half-asleep. She looked down at her notebook, which was still open and lying in front of her on the table. It's a pretty good bird. Much better than the last bird I drew. Yep. Definitely a good bird.

Ethan left his home late morning and arriving slightly later than the bus thus when he arrived the bus and few cars were leaving the premise of camp Wachata. He drove his 98 Hyundai white tiburon to a parking spot outside of the Canteen and realizing that too much of the dust would be settling to his car, making him frown. Unexpected expenditure to his tight budget via car wash. Ethan turned off his car then gout out with his planner that contains ID. He pulled out a map of camp Wachata from his planner then quickly orienting himself east to boy's cabin. He will come back to grab his duffle bag with clothes and toiletries. His cabin is cabin #5, farthest to East and must be steaming with all the sunlight it got. He should open the window, let the breeze in, and make it more habitable unless his cabin becomes his personal cabin.

Arriving in the cabin he noticed that it is still empty so he left all the windows opened, curtains drawn to let some wind in. Ethan procures a rusty bucket then fill them with cold water. He splashes them to the wall of the cabin, the ground around the cabin and small patch of a barren field near the cabin. Hopefully, it will generate the wind with the temperature difference. He goes back to the Canteen to grab his duffel bag and find some people to fill in the cabin. On his way, he notices a guy around his age near the wall of the Canteen. He calls out to grab his attention knowing that most of the counselors are returning member. "Hi. Are you a counselor?"

Shayne Kowalski

Shayne responded with a slight chuckle as Nico made her comment about the map. It was insanely cartoony considering it Wachata was for 15 to 19 year old's. Although, once Nico made the comment about 'the mean girls', Shayne let out a much more sincere laugh. Maybe it was Nico's appearance, but Shayne wasn't expecting such someone so front forward with their sarcasm.

Smiling, Shayne took the map back and stuffed it into her pockets. It was clear the girl was much more relaxed than when Nico first approached her. "Oh, no. I hadn't even considered finding a bunk or anything. Much else choosing a bunk partner. " Shayne stuffed her hands into her pants pockets, now brightly smiling at the fact that it seemed that Nico had made herself nervous, "But yeah, I think that's a great idea! I saw some girls heading that way earlier. So, we gotta hurry up and get our spots." Shayne smiled as she turned towards the trail, glancing back at Nico, "Thanks for coming up to me, by the way. I probably would of been standing there forever." Shayne's bright smile turned into a much more sheepish one now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Caleb Holderson

Caleb smiled at the man's question, leaning forward off the wall. "Yeah, I am. I assume you're a new counselor?" Caleb asked, with a friendly smile. Caleb's hangover was still lagging him behind his normal attitude, but that wouldn't stop him from making sure a new counselor felt welcomed. The turnover for Camp Wachata's counselors was bad enough as it was, plus the new guy seemed to be nice enough.

Sticking his hand forward to shake the new counselor's hand, Caleb introduced himself, "My name's Caleb, by the way. This is my third year here." Caleb's demeanor appeared to be sincere. This wouldn't be the first time Caleb helped out new counselors. However, last year, the new counselors he had helped decided not to return. That was understandable. Having new counselors around, though, was always fun for Caleb. Contrary to what most would think, cliques have a habit of forming as often amongst the counselors as they do amongst the campers. It could catch someone off-guard, and often leads new counselors not to return for a second year.

A smile crossed over Nico's face as Shayne began laughing at her attempts at humour. She brought her hand down from her mouth, adjusting her coat sleeve more out of habit than actual fear. She hoped the relief she felt after Shayne mentioned she didn't have a bunk partner didn't cross her face, looking desperate was never good in any situation.

"God, don't be thankful, I'm just glad we're in the same predicament otherwise I'd probably not only be lost but alone". She spoke, letting out a small laugh. She began making her way towards the cabins, Shayne in tow as she kicked up dust and began to speak. "So what brings you to Camp Wachata?" She asked, adding a sort of tour guide tone to the name of the camp. "My parents forced me to come, otherwise I'd probably be sitting in a dark room listening to emo music" She explained, hesitating before speaking once more. "That was a joke by the way, despite my appearance I am in no way an emo."

Shayne Kowalski

Shayne saw a twinkle of relief on Nico's face, as Shayne had mentioned she didn't have a bunk partner. She thought she did, at least. Shaking the thought, Shayne kept in step with Nico as the pair made their way to the girl's campgrounds. Shayne smiled, and laughed as Nico mentioned how they both seemed to be in the same boat.

Shayne nodded, as Nico mentioned she wasn't really emo. It was strange to Shayne, whom had met people that dressed like Nico, but none of them came even close to Nico's personality. Shayne smiled to herself as the age old adage of 'Never judge a book by it's cover' became apparent, "Your parents forced you to come?" Shayne asked, quietly, as she mulled that over in her head. Shayne's parents hadn't forced her to come to Camp Wachata, but it was strongly suggested to her. After a moment, Shayne shared her story, "I'm new around here. My parents decided to send me here so I could make some friends." Shayne responded, with a grin. The idea that her parents sent her here to make friends sounded absurd when she actually said it. Slightly frowning, Shayne looked down towards the ground. It was only now just how crappy her situation really was. Dismissing her frown the best she could, she looked up just in time to see that the pair had arrived at the girl's campgrounds. "Oh, awesome. Which cabin should we pick?" Shayne asked, with a small amount of enthusiasm. The question was rather a moot one. The cabins were all identical, but that didn't stop Shayne from showing her excitement.

Mya followed the girl's-Ana's-eyes to her sketchbook. The bird was amazing. "that's amazing." she said pointing to the drawing. "We don't have to go anywhere but if you want a decent bunk you better come with me" Mya motioned for the girl to follow as she shifted her bag to the other side. It was getting heavy.

"So did you take lessons or self taught" She segued into a conversation for the walk as she headed toward the cabins just assuming Ana would follow.

Great, no reception.

Justin thought to himself, annoyed at his predicament as he stared mindlessly at his phone. He hoped for a light at the end of the tunnel where the reception would return, and Justin quickly realized that was truly a dying light.

Dead.

He pressed the lock button on his cellphone, and shook his head. He wondered what kind of place that hard headed mother of his sent him to "even him out." Yeah, he's definitely getting evened out here. He was being sent straight to Camp Horror Movie. Like, seriously, did she ever watch a horror movie before? This was how horror movies start. Everyone goes to some shitty camp in the middle of nowhere, and then Jason-fucking-Voorhees will rise from the fucking lake.

He just prayed there were cops nearby.

Okay, maybe Justin was overreacting a little here. Maybe the camp was going to be great. Maybe it would be a great way of spending summer. Soon, they passed the sign, and arrived in Camp Wachata. The staff were standing outside, and... not exactly the friendly types. Didn't bode well for the rest of the camp. Well, if they try something on Justin, they're going to be on the receiving end of his Muay Thai.

The bus stopped, and everyone was just handed a map, and pointed in the directions of the cabins. To the point, they are. Honestly, that was a good thing because Justin couldn't stomach a speech about how much of a good time they're going to have here! And how many children were not molested here!

He could only grimace at the concept of having a good time here. But, hey, at least he brought his skateboard... and then realized how useless it would be without concrete to ride on, God damn it. Well, might as well go and claim a cabin...

"Hey, hey, hey!" A strange and feminine voice appeared besides him, and Justin's head whipped around towards her. Well, he had to look up a bit, because the girl was tall. Much taller than him. Though, she had stupid blue hair that made Justin roll his eyes. "You look lost, I mean, so did I when I first came here, but you look extra lost."

"Lost?" Justin rhetorically asked, scoffing. "The last place I want to be is in the center of camp murder...."

"I thought the same thing when I first came here! 'Sounds like a shitty horror movie,' but don't sweat it, this place is cooooool." The girl said, laughing. "Trust me, I've been coming here for three years now. I think I know a little bit about how the camp works."

"Then why did everyone look pissed off at the front gates?"

"Pfft," Zoey said, flagging her wrist. "They're just a little pissy because they've been putting up with little shits like us for years now! I mean, I would be pretty pissed, too."

Justin laughed... the girl was cool, but a little weird.

"So, you need directions? Those maps they give out every year have always been shit."

"Nah, I have this." Justin said, "Oh yeah, I don't think I properly introduced myself."

Justin came to a stop, as he said, "Justin Liao."

"Zoey Gray, the heart of the party!" Zoey said as she flashed double peace signs, before she broke out in laughter and put her hands at her side. "Yeah, I have to unpack for the third time. Ciao."

Justin smirked as he turned away.

"... Yeah, Ciao."

Ana looked from the drawing and back to Mya with an expression that might have been expressing something akin to a sense of accomplishment. "Oh thanks." Mya went on to explain that they needed to head out if they wanted a good bunk. The concept of a good bunk seemed odd. Shouldn't all the bunks have been the same? And if not, it seemed like quite the injustice for some campers to be stuck with bad bunks. Still, it didn't really effect her too much, as she had a habit of sitting up all night on a regular basis. But Mya probably slept, and the thought of the poor girl being stuck with a sub-adequate bed on her account was something she couldn't abide. "Sure thing. Let's go." She slid her sketchbook and her poor worn-out pencil back into her messenger bag and slung it around her shoulder. She hopped down from the tabletop and followed behind Mya, tilting her head back to look up at the sky as she walked. This had the unfortunate consequence of her hat falling off of her head, though, in a moment of sudden and jarring agility, she snatched the cap from the air before it could reach the ground, placing it back on her head, though turned backwards this time. She continued meandering along behind Mya as the girl asked her question. "Mostly self-taught I guess. My mom used to paint though, and she gave me a few tips." Ana's arms swayed at her sides like vines in the breeze. "That was a really long time ago though."

Ethan smiled back at Caleb. "Yes, I am a new counselor." noticing that man in front of him has a strained smile. "My name is Ethan." Hoping that it isn't his hand that is injured Ethan delivers a nice firm handshake. Ethan himself smiles easily as a genuine gesture is a very welcome sight for a newcomer like himself.

Ethan looks over Caleb, giving him a subtle once over. Maybe taking a First Aid/CPR last January won't go unappreciated for Ethan if Caleb has a medical condition. After all, Ethan noticed his way back to the Canteen that people around him are not using a cell phone and there should be at least one glued to their phone screen out of that many teenagers.

And there aren't. 'I am very far away from a civilization' Ethan realized. Ethan asks Caleb "Are you okay?"

Mya traveled down the path, appreciating the beauty of the camp. "That's cool. It's really pretty here, you'll have lots to draw. I, myself, don't have any artistic talent. Mya chuckled. She trudged down the path seriously considering dragging her duffel. Maybe next year she'd bring a suitcase with wheels. Mya had plans of claiming the same cabin she had last year. It had the best view of the sunrise. She was an early riser, but simultaneously a night owl. A bit of a conundrum.

As the cabins came into view, Mya spread out her hands like she was Vanna White. " Welcome to paradise." She said over enthusiastically. It was followed by a chuckle. "Well maybe not paradise but it's not so bad. These are the cabins, obviously. You can choose any one you'd like as long as it isn't full. I, personally like the one on the end there." she pointed toward cabin #5. "Great view of the sunrise." She was giving Ana an out in case she didn't want to bunk with her but Mya found her intriguing. The way she always sounded half asleep-almost bored- had Mya curious as to who lurked under the shy exterior.

Nico kicked a rock off to the side as she began to reply. She could hardly believe how similar the pairs situations were.
"Forced is probably too strong a word. If there was a word that basically meant forced but not really then that." She said, explaining it as eloquently as a bull in a china shop. "My parents sent me here for the same reason, I'm from Ontario, moved down here because my mom got a job here." She said, dancing around many of the more truthful factors that contributed to the move.

She surveyed the cabins. They all looked pretty much the same, save for a few bits of wear and tear here or there. She honestly didn't mind which cabin she stayed in, as long as her room-mates weren't total assholes. She brushed a lock of hair back behind her ear, as if it wouldn't just slide back to it's original position as soon as she started moving.
"I don't mind in all honesty. If you've got a favourite number we could go to that cabin I suppose?" She asked, offering a solution to a problem that hardly even existed.

Shayne Kowalski

"You're from Canada?" Shayne asked, with a tone that betrayed just how excited she was. It seemed such a silly thing to be enamored about, but not to Shayne. Canada was just as exotic as Europe to Shayne, and why not? She had never met anyone from Canada, yet she had heard people talk about it. It didn't help her excitement that the two of them were here for almost identical reasons. Shayne bore a toothy grin, beaming at Nico, while at the same time hoping that her unexpected excitement didn't cause Nico to be annoyed with her. After a moment, Shayne allowed herself to die, "I've never met anyone from Canada." Shayne softly added, as she turned her attention to the cabins. There appeared to only be five of them, and it seemed that Nico and Shayne had gotten her before the biggest surge of new campers had. That was a good sign.

"What about that one?" Shayne asked, while pointing at a cabin. The cabin she pointed at was cabin #3. It was fit snugly in the middle of all the cabins. From first glance, it appeared as if no one was in it, which suited Shayne just as fine as if it was full.

Caleb Holderson

Caleb let loose a small smirk at Ethan, coupled with a short chuckle. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just stayed up late last night with the other counselors." It wasn't exactly the whole truth, but Caleb wasn't for sure how Ethan would handle being told that the counselors often partied here at Camp Wachata. Ethan looked like the always responsible, and sensible thinking, kind of man.

"Have you already picked out a cabin for yourself?" Caleb asked, wondering how on top of everything this new counselor would be. Caleb, during his first year, had postponed picking a cabin as he was too caught up in exploring the camp. He was left to bunk underneath a camper with an awful snoring problem. This wasn't to mention the fact that the campers he was stuck with as his group were probably the most misbehaved of the entire camp that year. "If you have, I could show you around camp. Maybe introduce you to some of the other counselors?"

Ana followed behind Mya, nodding decisively at her observation of the camp's beauty. "I think so too." A nearby butterfly caught the girl's eye as she followed along, its bright yellow-orange wings fluttering about like a lively little flame. Ana's lips briefly into what looked like an attempted frown as her companion asserted her lack of artistic talent. "Eh, I'm sure there's something you'd be good at. Like I said before, my mom was a painter, but I was never too good at it. You'd think they'd be similar enough, but nope... Was never a big fan of brushes. I think it was the brushes that did it. Honestly, brushes are just overrated. I mean, a pencil is solid and precise and a brush is so floppy and hard to manage and..." The girl trailed off into her train of thought.

Ana's eyes drifted along, surveying each of the cabins as they arrived. They didn't seem too different, and the quandary of the good bunk/bad bunk injustice seemed settled in the girl's mind. She paid special attention to the one on the end that Mya seemed enthused about. "Hmm... Sunrises are nice..." She mulled over the situation for a few tense seconds, as if it was a decision that would change the course of her life permanently. "Yeah, I think that one sounds good..." She looked at Mya out of the corner of her eye. "So, um, how many people usually stay in one cabin?" The prospect of roommates didn't necessarily worry her, but it was something she wanted to be prepared for.
