The first option seems interesting, but so does the second... so I'll put some tentative interest here for both.

While I like option 2, it's been done too many times.

I do however, like the first option. If we are to receive powers in that RP, I would suggest taking the whole "GM decides what power you get" thing and applying it there. Would be an interesting challenge to write with.

Now allow me to provide my reasoning for the first idea now that I'm on my computer.

The first idea seems more interesting to me, but the second idea of a free form sandbox... Yeah, I rarely see them work. Even though players coming up with their own plots can work just fine, I don't see that working out in the long run unless someone comes up with a long running plot (or some weird way to connect them all)... and, eh, I don't think anyone's going to do that.

On the other hand, the first plot seems engaging, and there's a hook for everyone from the start.

Oh great I had to come here to hear you opinion as if it held some sort of importance
LOL actually I like the First one as well but didn’t see part about the powers and how we get them
If it's the assigned method or we pick then I’m good with that as well

Okay, so far it looks like a tie. 4 for each then 2 for both. I could do a combination of both, but honestly, option #1 was going to be sandbox-like too. Instead of forcing a story on to the players, I'd just be nudging you guys into certain directions plot-wise from time to time.

As far as powers go, I'd be giving them off. I'd definitely listen to what you guys want, but at best, I'd give you some sort of variant of whatever ability you wanted.

Is it too late to vote? I vote number two, provided character limits are imposed. Sandboxes can work in my experience, just not when there's ten people popping in and out, each with four characters.

Ya know, I'm cool with either. Second would be interesting to min/max though. Pretty sure you can break almost any power. (though with science, you CAN break any powerset by just using science instead. xD)

I like either one as well, so idk how much my opinion will sway the result, but I'm leaving my interest here anyway ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

First option is a fresher take. Maybe take some Ellis-esque posthuman themes and storytelling and it'll be good to go.

I'm interested in both but leaning towards the first idea. I do like getting your powers chosen for you, though, both in-story and in terms of character creation.

@Sisyphus I think I'll be going with the first option, but to be fair, it'll be somewhat of a sandbox too.

@Archmage MC I'd like to avoid science; nothing sucks more than an online debate explaining how plausible or unplausible something is based on science while in a world of fiction.

@Architect Not really sure what "Ellis-esque posthuman themes", but I'll check it out.

@Silver Carrot Will be posting up a CS soon.

Would you guys prefer limiting the setting of the RP or have the story take place in multiple areas? I don't mind either, I just prefer to go with what the majority wants.
