There is something I do need to tell you guys...

I for the past week have been thinking about doing something very big for this roleplay. I think all of you would be really excited about it. So, when I first started this roleplay I simply started with the concept of a group of people discovering that they were far away from being held in a deep underground base beneath earth's surface. Initially, I wanted this roleplay to be heavily focused on character development because I have never quite done a roleplay quite like that. Although, Carvings of the Galaxy has become something far more. I did not expect myself to do so much world building.

So, I started thinking for over a week of doing a "Carvings of the Galaxy: Season 2," so what that basically means is that we find a great stopping point here before I create a new roleplay continuing this one with all the lore about the races, the Principality, and even multi-dreaming. Also, that roleplay will start at a time in which the original crew has been separated from each other for a good amount of time, which is something that could definitely happen since Tahlia and Benji already plan to branch off on their own mission. Also, that stopping point might happen right after a scene in which Benji explains his mission to assassinate the queen, affirming in that they are dividing. This could either result in the crew leaving on good or bad terms.

If anyone has any other ideas to leave with an explosive conclusion to this chapter of the story. Please do tell!

Anyways, what do you guys think?

How long are we talking about here?

@Deserted Well, that definitely depends on how we conclude this roleplay, and also how the crew is divided. The negotiation Benji had with the Principality is that he will make contact with the Velbenan with the intent of hunting her down, and in return the rest of the crew will be escorted to a planet sustainable enough for them to rebuild their race. Also, the Principality will provide the supplies and security they need to do so safely. Of course, now that plan has been slightly adjusted with Tahlia now joining Benji.

So, the amount of time could mainly be determined by how far you would like to have this new colony progress. I would like to have it too far in time with the crew now a bunch of elders, but perhaps with at least one of the girls expecting a child. It makes sense especially if there is any hope to repopulate. Although there aren't enough current humans for there to be diversity within genes, so cloning with the aid of the Principality could help instead. But if that is the road those within the colony wish to take, the Principality will most likely not resort to that until Benji and Tahlia are successful in their mission.

As for a Season 2, I guess I don't really know what to think about the idea. A time skip is potentially interesting, but part of me would rather just play things out and see how our characters would progress through this story. Originally when I joined this RP it was under the premise that we would all just be a buncha people stuck in space trying to decide whether to go home or try to start life again on a new planet, and to be honest I was a bit hesitant when things shifted away from being small, contained, and focused to bigger, broader, and more expansive. That's not to say that it hasn't turned out to be interesting or fun, but just that it was different than what I had been expecting. I kind of feel the same way about making a Season 2.

However, none of that really matters, because at the end of the day I enjoy writing with you guys. I've been RPing for over a goddamn decade now, and it's rare to find people who are willing to commit themselves to something. What's even more rare is finding a GM who is ready to commit themselves to something, especially when things begin to move slow or go awry. Seriously, in my more than a year and a half on this site I've only found two other GMs as tenacious as you, @beyond visions, and I respect the hell outta all of you for it. Plus, from what I've read and seen it seems that I've been rather fortunate in that regard. So I guess that my point is that I don't really mind what we do, because I trust you. You'll work with it and us to make it great.

That said, I still don't really get the entire purpose of making a new RP unless there was a hope to try and bring new players in, which would that even work?

@Atrophy Well one big reason why I would start a new roleplay, continuing this one story, would be to make these aliens feel more like living sentient beings with personalities and cultures, rather than the "them and us" type of vibe. So would I want to possibly create an alien character? Yeah, I thought about it, it would be very interesting. I have also thought about making Pseudo playable, although I am moreover leaning on him being a NPC, but I don't know he could really be quite quirky with a personality chip.

But, it might be better to talk about this more in the future. Like I said in my last post hell's about to break loose. Why? Blame Echo, and her future is not looking too bright. Remember she already offended the Principality in the throne room, Benji saved her by reminding them that only the Divine Regency can accuse someone of heresy, not the Principality. Yet now, it looks and seems that she helped Rend escape. Why does it look like she helped him escape? Wait for my next post, it will all make sense.

Also, that means a lot since I really do put my heart into this. As GM of course I have a special bond with this RP and with this story, but that is because of the people that made it possible. Time after time again I have browsed through the interest check, admitted my interest for another roleplay to later have to PM the GM, telling them that I will not be joining because I have something very special going on with this roleplay. And like I said, it is not the story necessarily that has drawn me close, it is the writers. I have had more of the fear that I will rub off as a bossy or demanding GM when I'm always asking about a collab post, though I have also made the effort to be very understanding. Such as for the most part of December, I was okay with there being a long silence within the RP, that is understandable the holidays are stressful. And if you ever just need to take a break because you possibly cannot manage work or school while also participating in a roleplay, just tell me that going through a tough time and need to pause. Eru Iluvatar did that and I was totally fine with it, he didn't roleplay for a while but came back. And that epic plot twist of Rend's return would not have been possible if he didn't take a break.

@beyond visions Well, if you are meaning that we are going to pull the plug with a pending "something's going to happen" I advise we wait at least until "Something IS happening" (like everybody is knocked out, or the ship is taken over, etc...) or "something HAS happened." (We are liberated by the Velbinians, or we make a daring escape, or there is an explosive drama that scatters the party.) That is a great place to pause or do a time-gap. However, with a pending something, it kills momentum because it pulls the plug before the rest of our gaming could compile into something.

So far as your Us vs. Them trouble. That can easily be changed by introducing interaction with pro-human factions, or showing some level of spectrum of confusion and opinion among the population. However currently, it feels polarized because it is polarized. From the PC perspective, there hasn't exactly been any reason for us to not think that. For instance, the language they will only use (but refuse to teach us), the fact we are gassed and imprisoned, the only contact has been with guards and robots (disposable people) and then the monarchy I sort of forced an Us vs. Them environment.

@beyond visions @atrophy @TheMadAsshatter @SheriffLlama I think we've got a pretty rare thing going here, folks. Why don't we just be a gaming group? Like, we don't have to play the same game or even have the same GM, but we are a group and we stick together. That way people can do finals, holidays, etc... and we know that they will be back, because, you know, they are part of the group.

Alrighty, the post is in! Who would like to go next, who would most like do what Benji said not do, and ask what the crap is going on? Or who would even demand answers rather than blindly listening to him?
