If complete and utter accuracy is what you desire, then that's what I'll give you. But as I said in the PM I sent you, it will have to wait until I have had sleep, and am no longer in the mood that I am in.

If people are happy to start with the post that I have put up, complete accuracy or not, let me know now before I pass out. If not, I'll be happy to retract the post altogether until all the facts are accounted for.

I agree with @Jacobite. It's dialogue with NPC's, and doesn't affect anybody else's character, so it can certainly wait until you've had some rest. I never demanded that you change it immediately, I was simply pointing out the flaws in what I assumed was your finished post. I apologise if I came across as too demanding.

So. First up. I am a nurse. Im not fussed if things are not completely accurate and if you have ever worked a day in your life in a hospital you'd know that not everything is exact-people are different they can get different symptoms for the same disease.

I myself had chicken pox that looked like psoriasis on my head, confused the hell out of doctors. I also am allergic to the flu injection-but I instead get a whooping cough like response.

Secondly, this is a roleplay with a talking ape and a dog that is definitely not normal. And you're arguing about the accuracy of an illness? Do you not realize how much effort Vicier puts into her roleplays? Do you not know that post took her three days to write? We discussed it for hours tryin to figure out how to start it, and next time I'll make sure that I provide the signs and symptoms (because I kind of forgot to do that, despite knowing what she was going to do) so that it's "medically accurate".

I don't normally like doing this sort of thing in the OOC, but given that my point is I don't think it has to be changed. I have had patients with just one symptom of a disease before and they've been dignosised as having it. Why? Everyone is different. They react differently. Why do you think there is so many different signs and symptoms for cancer? For a heart attack? So many side effects for drugs? people are different.

So my stand is that It doesn't really need to be changed.

I'd like to apologize if that came out in anyway rude or such. Not my intention. It's too early to figure out the better way to say it, so I'm sorry.

Took a bit of looking into? Your scenario was ripped directly from an episode of House. Season 2 Episode 17, if anyone is interested. The problem with House? It's not medically accurate. A quick wikipedia search told me that diarrhoea, bloody or otherwise, has nothing to do with Erdheim-Chester disease. It affects the heart, lungs and areas of the brain, alongside fucking up your bone marrow. Diagnosis wouldn't involve a colonoscopy either, and "Purple papules"? Papules aren't subcutaneous, they only appear on one's skin, not on the inside of their organs.

Come on, man. If you're going to roleplay a medical professional, at least do your research.

I mean, in all fairness, I don't think it really affects any of the player characters in this game. Personally, I'm just glad to have IC up. I think that maybe just this once, a little bit of inaccuracy won't kill us, y'know? Once we have chars in trouble, then I will concede that medical accuracy, physics, etc. become necessities. But I think the big point of the post is that Mercy's in the kitchen so as to start interaction with other chars, so it probably won't hurt anything.

Oh, absolutely! It doesn't affect other people's characters at all. But I'm a big ol' stickler was accurate writing, especially when it comes to things I have a real interest in, such as medicine. I never demanded it should be changed - I just couldn't stand by and let something possibly be perceived as genuine or original when it wasn't. I'll apologise again to @Vicier, I probably came across as aggressive, which I really shouldn't have. I suppose we're all protective of our interests, is all!

Don't use the talking dog and talking gorilla as a reason to deny accurate writing in a piece of fictional work, please. It gives people an excuse for lazy writing, that doesn't care for the readers or audience's own understanding. Both Winston and Lucky have been explained in a way that's in line with Overwatch's own themes.

Sorry, it's just my pet peeve when people make the argument, "It's a fictional world, so what does it matter?" A writer, RPer or not, should always do their best to make sure their audience understands what's going on in a story and why, as long as it's pertinent to the plot and the setting, itself. Allowing yourself to sink into the mindset of, "There's a talking dog and magic, so accuracy, logic, and explanations don't matter." It both tells your readers that you don't care about the story or characters enough to delve deeper into how they work, and that their understanding doesn't matter to you. ;-( And that sucks.

And I'm not saying you guys are doing that, don't misunderstand my words here, I just want to clarify why I absolutely hate when people make that the basis of their argument. It rubs me the wrong way.

And, actually, from a medical point of view, the signs nd symptoms Vic wrote, are, for the most part, medically accurate. Musle pain, unco-ordination, diabetes like symptoms are all signs of the disease.

Absolutely. That being said, I do think that while it's important to hold yourself to a high standard, at the same time you don't wanna be overbearing when it comes to other people's posts if they don't affect you. Especially when it opens up IC for the rest of us to start posting in, y'feel me? In fights physics, chemistry, biology, etc. will matter. But it's some NPC with a disease we're sure as hell not gonna get, so it can probably slide this time.
