ight had fallen. The calls of thousands of insects filled the air, making quick work of the silence that had briefly fallen over the island. From the docks of the Two-Leg Place to the tip of the Jagged Tooth, the daylight-dwellers settled into their nooks, letting the exhaustion of the previous day drag them into slumber. The sun had long ago lowered below the cascading horizon, letting the ends of the ocean swallow it whole as it dipped into the Deep. From the other end of the Deep, the moon began its ascent, beaming its dull, blue rays down upon the sleeping souls of the islands.
But not all were asleep. Far to the east, along the banks of the Adder, feline figures prowled about in anger and anticipation. The cries of hatred and vengeance filled the dense pines in resonance, and atop the small perch that gazed out upon the ravine, three figures sat in patient silence, pondering solutions and appeasements. The one to the left, black as night, opened its jaw, revealing an array of pristine, piercing teeth.
"All shall fall silent; your chief speaks!" the call was short and direct, and the many cats that had busily paced about and noisily riled each other up suddenly fell into line, the wave of insect-buzzes filling the silence once again. For a moment, everything was still, and the soft lapping of the Adder river against the ravine's edge pulsed through the camp. Eager warrior and elder alike sat in complete concentration and respect for their chieftain, though many took silent note of his inexperience.
Finally, the central cat upon the mound of dirt shifted his weight, adjusting stoically to address those he cared so much for. The tom was Dustsky, chieftain of AshTribe, the Koa who was abandoned by his chief in AshTribe's time of need, and had watched out for his Tribe as best as he could throughout these recent moons. Softly, calmly, his words rolled from his mouth with a tinge of anxiety.
"The cats you had grown so fond of have betrayed us," the great tom began, brown eyes narrowing upon the warriors he addressed. "For far too long, they have swept their shadowed paws beneath our noses, and leave us baffled in their trickery. I ask that you hear my plea, however, to not act without thought. What will occur next may very well change the course of life on Big Paw,"
As the chieftain continued, a figure in the distance scoffed under its breath in disgust. For far too long, AshTribe was clawing away at the path of weakness. Still the Tribe struggled, in the hardest season of Leaf-Bare in near ten moons, no less, yet Dustsky still called for calm and patience. The black figure turned silently and trotted its way south, into the pines. A moment later, a small she-cat scuffled after the figure, filled with the ignorance of a kit and the arrogance of her mentor.

The morning sun cascaded brilliant rays of reds and yellows upon the great, naked eucalyptus trees that sat in slumber on the perched hill, awaiting warmer days to sprout leaves and cover the canopy with a thick, dense green. But on this particular morning, a shrill wind blew through the branches, carrying with it the tales of an early frost. A few muffled groans called from down below, amidst the roots of the mighty trees, where the cats of WaveTribe made camp.
While most were still sleeping, a few had stayed awake throughout the night in council with one another, on the other end of the hill to speak in quiet. Most namely, Swiftsky sat among them, his jaw tightened throughout the previous eve, occasionally piping up here and there, but mostly lost in thought. Few cats could figure what the old one was thinking, but most knew that he was pondering wisely. Beside him sat his Koa, Frostbite, who some of the older cats looked upon with feigned acceptance, though their love for the cat was genuine. To Swiftsky's left sat Wolfmask, Shaman of the tribe, who had brought the subject in question to the attention of the chieftain.
The night previous, Wolfmask had fallen into a dream unlike any SkyTribe had bestowed upon him. The scene was faded and dim, but the cries of cats amidst crag and rock was prominent throughout, while blood rained down from the clouds. It was Swiftsky who had awoken the thrashing feline, and had learned of the omen right then. So the old tom pondered in silence all of this time, until the next night, when Frostbite, Wolfmask, Swiftsky, and Cavetooth sat with each other and pondered the dream's meaning.
But the call of an early bird brought a stirring from the camp, and the meeting was ended, and the day began. The cats of WaveTribe began to wander about, grooming one another lovingly in the early hours of the day, kits and young apprentices bolting about in their games. Frostbite began piecing together a list of tasks to perform for the day, thinking of the cats that would be a good pick for each job. Wolfmask took note of the lack of blue ginger and tasselflower that would have normally been stocked thrice-fold this time of year, and would have to go out and find something to counter greencough soon, lest the kits become ill. All in all, life had seemingly returned to the camp, and the cats went on their way to begin the new day.
But Swiftsky still pondered the omen, and would do very little that day beyond meditate. Eventually, he figured, would be the half-moon, and Wolfmask would bring the young Rosepaw with him to the Tree of the Moon; hopefully there the Shaman would discover what the images meant.

From beneath the soil, they lept, one by one, into the sunlight. Over fifteen in all, they bade each other safe journey as they split into fragments, and trotted off in their assigned direction to fulfill today's tasks. Some felt their stomachs grumble angrily, but refused to think of it, and would make small talk with one another to hide their discomfort. But some were overcome by it, their insatiable hunger surfacing. No more split rations, they thought, as they trudged further south than they were supposed to; today, they feast!

Greycloud

Morning... perhaps truly the most difficult part of the day. Waking from a pleasant sleep and having to get ready for daily duties. A massive bundle of grey fur was curled up in the Warrior's den, ears twitching as there was several waking movement, birds chirping and singing to notify the start of another day. Snorting a little, dissatisfied how her sleep was over, Greycloud uncurled her body to stretch out a bit. Large claws slipping out as she stretched her massive paws. Rolling over to her paws, she shook her body to rid of clinging moss before making her way outside. Feeling the sunlight on her fur, she stretched her mouth into a yawn, blinking away sleep from her blue eyes. Glancing around the growing bustle of camp as cats shared tongues and chattered, the large feline gave a soft grunt as she stretched out her body, finding a warm little spot to lie down. Seemingly uninterested in socializing. Placing her chin on her paws, she started to ponder what was in store today. Most likely some training for her new and first apprentice, Wildpaw. It was a surprise to be assigned a apprentice when Greycloud was quite the young warrior, but still, it was a honor. Perhaps it was because they were a bit opposites. Wildpaw seemed to be a bundle of energy, while Greycloud was in general relaxed and calm. Perhaps to help tone down the bouncy apprentice. Still, perhaps today she'll be assigned to border patrol. She could properly show the apprentice the territory. As she thought over plans, her fluffy tail lightly thumped against the ground, ears twitching in tune with her thoughts.

Ringtail

"Bah, it's too early." came a grumble of a old ginger tom with black, brown, and ginger rings on his fluffy tail. Old scars from battles long ago littering his body as he lumbered out of the Elder's Den. Ringtail blinked his mismatched eyes and gave a yawn, sitting down on his haunches as he observed the tribe's bustle with his good amber eye. It was nice seeing the young cats full of energy, ready to start the day. He remembered when he was just a young cat, waking up all bright eye and bushy tailed. Nowadays though, he mostly enjoyed sleeping in. But he wasn't as young as he used to be. Plus the perks of being a elder, he could do that if he so wished. Unless the Chieftain called a tribe meeting of course. Still, it got a little lonely being in the den by himself. But young ones don't have time to be hanging around old rusty bones.

Silverfish + Streamkit + Stonekit

Once the sun was up, it didn't take long for Stonekit to come whirling out of the Nursery, eagerly bouncing around before looking over back to the Nursery. Her purplish eyes full of excitement, obviously ready to start the day. "Come on Streamkit! Let's play Warrior! I'll be Stonesky! Chief of Wavetribe! You be Streamsky of Cloudtribe!" she chirped eagerly awaiting her sister to follow her.

Soon enough the grey shecat padded out and yawned, pouting a bit as her ears lowered. "Awe, but Stonekit! I'm always Cloudtribe! Why can't you be them this time?" she questioned, watching her littermate bounce around energetically.

"Well we don't have many others to play with and someone has to be the enemy! And I'm going to be the best warrior of the tribe! So that's that!" Stonekit replied, grinning and giving a amused purr.

Streamkit sighed but purred as she shook her head, crouching a little and wiggling her haunches. "Well.... if it's going to be like that... better be ready Stonesky!" she yowled before leaping and tackling her sister, taking her off guard and the two started to wrestle along the ground before speeding around the camp chasing one another.

Padding out of the Nursery, Silverfish watched her kits play and gave a soft purr. "Don't wander off too far you two! And keep out from under cats paws! I don't want to hear any incident on how you tripped a warrior!" she called, earning a quick 'Yes Mom!' before the kits continued their playing. The silver shecat smiled before looking to see Greycloud by herself, in which case the older shecat padded over and sat beside the much larger cat.

"Good morning Greycloud! It is a lovely morning isn't it?" Silverfish purred.

Greycloud opened her eyes and raised her head to look at Silverfish as the slender shecat approached. "It's alright." she answered simply, before scrunching up her nose as the silver shecat started cleaning her ears. "I'm not a apprentice anymore, Silverfish." she huffed a little.

"Well then perhaps you should take better care of your fur then." Silverfish purred in amusement, earning a roll of the eye from the young warrior but still, the large cat did give a soft purr.

The feeling of drowsiness and having been sleep-deprived really took a toll on FrostBite, someone who was dependent on getting a steady routine of sleep, rest and relaxation to accompany his occasional stress. He had an apprentice, NightPaw, who had proven several times to be a small pawful. She wasn't exactly like the previous apprentices he had managed during the Overhaul of Apprentices crisis the Tribe had to cope with occasionally. Though controllable at times, it was quite a pawful from time to time whenever a bad day had struck the skies. What's more, he was a Koa. A young Koa. A lot of grief and disapproval had been coming and going by older Warriors, and though some younger ones were too, yet the lesser-aged Warriors seemed to be a lot more supportive. It was a back-and-forth sort of side of morale and confidence. FrostBite at least tried his hardest to show no effect from whatever was said.

But the previous night, however, proved to be one difficult and troublesome time. The discussion and queries about a dream so confusing, so questionable, made for a restless night. SwiftSky hadn't said much, and FrostBite knew exactly why. There was too much to think about. There was too much to process. FrostBite too had not added much, but was slightly more conversational than his superior. His slight inexperience with such issues amongst the Tribes wasn't proving useful in any way during that discussion, yet it allowed him to start learning early on.

When the night had ceased its fire of darkness, it shed sunlight from the skies above down onto the lands of Big Paw. That wasn't ever a good sign for FrostBite, as he wished for more hours of darkness to find the time to catch a few winks. Luck wasn't on his side that morning, making him slowly drag himself, half-awake, back into the Tribe's camp, where some of the others were already sprung up, awake and lively. Some were too lively, as a pair of kits circled him, causing him to slightly stumble over their petite size. Only a grumble seeped from his mouth, as he groaned, staring at the kits playing a little too carelessly. StreamKit and StoneKit. What a surprise. What's more, he had heard chants of their imagination, yet one's imagination being controversial...

Now, FrostBite was never a fan of dictating how some should act, nor even suggesting it. More to the point, he was very critical about his own methods of telling others about getting into line. Through slight hesitation, he trudged along the clearing of the soon-to-be-filled spaces within the Camp, towards SilverFish. Usually, he'd be quite difficult with his own words, but his concern made it clear that this wasn't going to be present. Taking a small sigh, he half-glanced at the queen.

"SilverFish...I'd hate to be the killjoy here, but please remind the kits 'Not' to use CloudTribe as a theme for play-fighting and all...Controversy, and potential offence from certain Warriors, is still possible..." He sighed heavily once more, looking between the kits and her. A small apology spilt from his mouth before he turned around, trudging off in another direction. His mood was clearly showing today.

He moved onwards to his preferred spot in the Camp, where he it would indicate the duties being handed out soon. It gave him space, whilst allowing fellow TribeMates to circle around him for easier duty assignments. But, it also was used for socalising, and anyone currently awake had the opportunity to speak with him about anything. Besides, he couldn't hand out these duties until everyone was awake...

As sunlight filtered over sunset-colored fur, muscles flexed and stretched as Rosepaw gradually began to wake up. She blinked her eyes open and arched her back, claws digging into the ground beneath her as she yawned then stretched her front paws out in front of her, rump in the air and tail straight out. Muscles now warm and awake, Rosepaw shook out her fur and picked her way carefully around the other apprentices still sleeping, trying to catch the last bit of dreams before they would need to awaken and go about their day. Wolfmask had been absent from the medicine den last night so Rosepaw had elected to sleep with the other apprentices. As she exited the roots, she looked around to see the camp waking up. Some of the kits were playing, Greycloud and Silverfish were conversing with each other while they watched the kits play. As she passed them on the way to the medicine den, she gave a quick nod, nimbly moving around the tumbling kits so as to not accidentally step on them. Though, to be fair, she wasn't that bigger than them a moon or two ago.

Moving past them, she made her way to the medicine and ducked inside. She mewed a greeting to her mentor before she padded over to the piles of herbs that needed to be sorted and sat down. She ran her eyes over what was there, mumbling under her breath what each herb actually was and what it was used for. She had only been an apprentice for Wolfmask for a moon so there was still much to learn and a lot to remember. So she has taken to repeating the herbs and properties to herself whenever she uses them in order to help her remember. She settled down and got to work sorting. Any dead leaves or wrinkled berries that were of no use she moved to a pile to the side to be disposed of later. Everything that was still of good use to them she began sorting into their respective piles. It was tedious work but necessary. If they needed to fetch a herb quickly, neat and ordered piles were essential if it was an emergency. Soon she came across a herb she didn't remember. Her tail flicked in irritation before she took a deep breath. It's not a bad thing to ask for help. If you're struggling, it's okay to reach out a paw for assistance.

With that thought firmly fixed in her mind, she stood and padded over to Wolfmask. "Wolfmask? There's a herb I don't recognize, could you help me?" She then began to go into detail what the herb looked like, etc.

(What the herb is can be up to you, I'm not picky)

Leaf-bare was something that he always hated. Even though the Tribe did not have to suffer from the sweltering heat of greenleaf, leaf-bare brought along hunger and sickness. While he wasn't fond of having nothing exciting to do, like fighting off battles or scrapping with the rest of the Tribes, Flamestorm did not enjoy the thought of having to freeze or suffer from lack of prey throughout the harsh moons.

Well, at least there were some exciting things that he could do. The sighting of the snake within their territory certainly put many of their Tribemates on edge, and he had tasked with the duty of removing it. Well, him and a few others, of course. Nightpaw had been told to come along to help, and he was honestly surprised while Frostbite did not accompany them. A few of the other warriors had come along as well, and the extra company meant that they would be able to take care of this rather quickly, but Flamestorm was probably the one that was mostly in charge of the black and white she-cat.

"Keep an eye underneath the brush and ditches," he told the rest of them, his tail flicking as he spoke. His voice was commanding and arrogant, as he had assigned himself as leader of their little expedition. If he had to suffer alongside Nightpaw, then he thought he should have a little fun.

Nightpaw bounded excitedly after the warriors, grinning as she pounced upon a twisted branch that jutted from the undergrowth. "Where do you think the snake is hiding?" the young apprentice pondered aloud.

He couldn't help but roll his eyes. "We don't know that, yet, Nightpaw," Flamestorm's voice held a hint of annoyance. "Keep your mouth shut and ears and eyes open. You'll scare it away if it hears that tongue of yours."

The she-cat growled something under her breath, but he didn't pay it any mind as she leapt off the branch. Once again, Nightpaw took her place beside his flank, between the warriors. She was safe there, he supposed, as long as she didn't bound out of their reach again.

@XxLyraxX

The dream was as vivid as ever, even as dawn sent its light upon the sandy beaches of Big Paw. It wasn't very often that the tom dwelled on visions and dreams and prophecies for so long, as Wolfmask found that stressing himself out over a misshaped piece of moss or a simple sighting of the stars within his dreams was something that could affect his health. But this was different. The vision that he experienced was terrible and cruel, and it had gone so far as to make him flail in his sleep. Whatever SkyTribe was trying to tell him, it had to be important.

A large yawn escaped him as he crept into the den, his tail waving slightly behind him. There was a chill in the air, but thankfully, his fur protected his skin from most of the unfortunate sensation. Even as his eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, there was a deep pang of worry within Wolfmask's chest. Hopefully, his apprentice, Rosepaw, wouldn't see that he was worrying about something. If SkyTribe hadn't told her, then there was no need for her to know yet.

He didn't even acknowledge her mew of greeting as he struggled to wake himself up, shaking out his fur and sighing. Why couldn't he have told Swiftsky and Frostbite and the rest in the morning? He was so tired, now... then again, maybe it had been for the best, telling them as soon as he could.

"Hm?" Wolfmask turned towards the she-cat at her question, his reddish-amber eyes glimmering at her. Rosepaw had asked about a herb. What kind of herb? Well, she didn't know. All that she stated was it had small yellow flowers and oval-like leaves. "Ah, that's hawkweed, Rosepaw," the tom continued. "It's very important if we keep ourselves stocked with herbs such as hawkweed. While it isn't really as helpful as catmint, we can use it whenever we run out."

His ears pricked for a second. "Speaking of which..." Wolfmask glanced at her. "I think we've run out of blue ginger and tassleflower. I usually keep those well-stocked for leaf-bare, but it must have slipped my mind."

@LetMeDoStuff @Silver Fox

The Tribe was already bustling, and Iceheart hadn't even gotten himself to be fully awake. He stretched and groaned as he shifted in his nest, his nose sniffing the air. While his throat was itchy and scratchy, the tom supposed that it was because one of the pieces of moss had worked its way into his mouth. Lucky for him, the itchiness soon faded away as he groomed himself before making his way outside.

He didn't really talk to anyone; it was too early for conversation, anyway. Instead, he walked towards the fresh-kill pile. There was a tasty-looking fish near the bottom of it, and Iceheart's eyes savored it greatly as he approached. Grabbing it by its tail, he pulled it away near a sunny portion of the camp, and sunk his teeth into its savory flesh.

The grumbling within his stomach stopped soon after that. Iceheart took precaution with picking his way around the sharp bones of the fresh-kill. Thank SkyTribe it's fresh, he thought to himself as he licked his lips. Wolfmask would have had a fit if he saw that I was eating fish that wasn't good for me.

There was a commotion near him, and he turned to see that Frostbite had been talking with Greycloud and Silverfish. Was it about Streamkit and Stonekit, again? Iceheart couldn't help but let a small smile crawl over his lips, but it left his face quickly. The two kits were a lively bunch, and soon they would be made into apprentices. He wondered if he would get a chance to mentor one of them.

Rays of sunlight had just begun to gleam off his orange pelt when Wildpaw felt the crisp Leaf-bare air around him. He opened his eyes slowly, groggily, then closed them. "Ugh...Five more minutes." he mumbled quietly to no one in particular β€”as it was still too early in the morning to formulate the thought that his sister seemed to be missing. Though missed she soon became β€”and dearlyβ€” as the coldness of the den overpowered his ability to remain asleep. Again Wildpaw eyes fluttered open, greeted by the view of moss and roots and the presently brightening silhouettes of his fellow tribe-members around him. Though it seemed few had left their den before him, sounds of leaves crunching and soft chatter indicated that the camp was beginning to liven.

All at once Wildpaw sprung up, forgetting his close proximity to the other apprentices around him. The noise alone was likely enough to wake all but the heaviest of sleepers, not to mention the grey and brown tail that had somehow founds it's way underneath his pad. The cat's yowl was followed by Wildpaw's profuse apologizing. He tried his best to contain his excitement while safely avoiding any other unsuspecting tails. Without further incident, Wildpaw reached the end of the tree's roots. His ears and nose twitched as he exited the den and emerged into the heart of the camp. He couldn't wait for whatever new adventure the day held in store.

Wildpaw spotted Greycloud across the camp, bathing in the sun. He started to bound over to her, before thinking otherwise. He was no longer a kit, and should behave accordingly., he seemed to recall her saying the day before. Besides, she seemed to already be talking with Silverfish. Rather than bother her, Wildpaw decided he would receive their assignment for today's task from the Koa. He composed himself, then padded over to where Frostbite sat. "Morning." he mewed to the older tom. As he waited for everyone to awaken, Wildpaw watched Streamkit and Stonekit playing, darting from rock to rock with innocent fervor.

Shadestep was idly resting in the Warrior's den - not out of laziness, more because there was nothing she felt she needed to do. She had been awake since just before sun-up, so she had gone through her waking routine already - stretch, groom, get a small bite of fresh kill, check the borders of camp for any rival cats hiding. The border check was less out of necessity and more out of habit from being put on guard duty so often during the chaos that was the fall of CloudTribe.

Shadestep rested her head on her paws as she thought of CloudTribe, wincing slightly and adjusting her position as the sun hit her through the above canopy of leaves. She had coped with the huge losses of WaveTribe during the Darkest Days, but it still felt as if it had happened recently. She could vividly remember fatally injured cats returning and dropping dead as soon as they stepped into camp, she could remember the paranoia and the worry. She remembered the yowling of cats during the battle at Hare Hills. Shadestep knew she had no reason to feel as hurt as she did - she only had a paw in the battle at Hare Hills, afterall - but it still hurt. She simultaneously felt that she could have done more, and that she did all she was able to.

But did I? Did I truly do everything in my power..?

She took a deep breath. Thinking of what she shoulda, coulda, and woulda done won't save the lives already lost. She changed her focus from the internal to the external, observing the kits at they played, hearing bits and pieces of Streamsky this and Stonesky that, but mostly blocked them out. Rambunctious little things, kits. She smiled just slightly as she watched the other cats go about the business, walking to and fro, talking and grooming each other as they woke up. These are the cats she should be thinking of, not those who died.

She rested her eyes from the movement for a moment, then her gaze set on Frostbite. He looked.. tense, to say the least. She stood, stretched from her resting position, and sauntered over to the Koa, taking a seat in front of him.

"Good morning, Frostbite," Shadestep said politely, tail curling around her paws, "How did you sleep?"

His mind had trailed off, still thinking about the sleepless night he had. Out of all the nights to have chosen, he couldn't of asked for a worse one. Yet, he must've only been thinking that because he was tired then and there. If it were to happen on any other night, it would be the same experience, the same mood and the same complaining. Glumness in his eyes that ironically shone their bright, icy blue would still be present, no matter the day, week or moon. Though, today was due to be one of the more hectic days. Too many duties to assign, not enough time to simply sit down and relax in the morning. At least the evening held some promise.

But something tore him from his mind, from that small fraction of his focus to bring him back to reality. An apprentice sat beside him, or near enough as it seemed. WildPaw? Of course...At least he seemed like more of the laid-back Apprentices. Last thing he needed was a Kit or an Apprentice crawling all over his back, such as what happened a few nights ago. Sometimes, the Koa would click, and become very distant from the Tribe. The Tribe's youngsters usually had a distant relationship with FrostBite as well, making it highly difficult to sometimes cooperate. But WildPaw...WildPaw wasn't one of those, as he'd come to learn. More understanding from the smaller conversations he'd had with him. A simply greeting for the morning was nice to hear, at least.

"Morning WildPaw. Good to see you being one of the first here. Very enthusiastic aren't we?" He let out a quick, tired smile towards the Apprentice, but in a friendly manner. FrostBite rarely made fun of any of the others, making him quite respectful all around. He knew other cats had other troubles, and it would be best to not trigger difficulties than to dig deep and try to discover them. "Still slower than your sister, though..."

Then, before he could continue the conversation anymore, a senior warrior placed herself down in front of FrostBite. One of the first to be up, as always, it was ShadeStep. A graceful, older she with darker fur, she was a well-known and well respected Warrior amongst the Tribe. Clearly for her experience, even FrostBite could admit she was a more valuable figure to the Tribe than himself, but that wasn't exactly something the Tribe would want to hear a Koa say on a day-to-day basis.

FrostBite listened to her words and general quizzing about his sleep the previous night. He honestly wished he could answer with a strong and positive manner, but he couldn't even say he had a bad sleep seeing as he hadn't slept at all. Surely she had noticed his weak expressions and almost unmissable, drowsy look that blatantly stared blankly amongst a few members of the Tribe. He, himself, could even notice it, and he hadn't anyway to see himself. A small, friendly grin crawled up his face as he tried to engage sensibly within the conversation, but it took a little longer than usual to get the words out of his mouth. Her presence was always something that made him nervous, for many reasons, the most prominent being her status within the Tribe.

"Uhh...Well...I wish I could say. Did a lot of decision making over the night, can't even say I barely slept, that's how much I hadn't done so. I guess...I guess the whole drowsy look gave it away, huh?" He chuckled once more, and once again it didn't sound any more lively than before. He was waking up more, noticeably, and his voice was slowly returning to its normal state. "It was about some small concerns, nothing major...But hey, I'm...Awake. And what about you? You seemed to have gotten the best out of the night."

SlateFang and ScorchBelly, two of the younger Warriors, returned, looking about as tired as FrostBite had looked at the start of the morning. They had done a very late scavenge of the borders, towards the Eastern side. It caught his attention as he looked past ShadeStep. Though he listened to what she said, he quickly apologised, excusing himself by turning around once she had finished to talk to the two. They were sent out over the night from discovering whether a new scent was becoming more local and frequent.

"Hey, FrostBite...Smell's sort of died down since we last checked, but the BlazeTribe patrol sent out at the same time told us they'd seen a Brown she lingering between borders, literally just watching them from time to time. Probably a loner or something, can't really take their word for it though." ScorchBelly yawned, giving the look that begged for them to be able to retire for the night. FrostBite thanked them for their small service, and dismissed them for the ability to go rest. At least they'd earned it. It wasn't a major problem to investigate, seeing as it seemed the scent was weaker progressively. Yet, he knew that he'd have to send another day-patrol out during the duty assignments just to be sure it wasn't a case of them wrapping things up too quickly in order to catch a few winks.

He swivelled on his backside, shifting himself back to where he was before, and coiled his tail around his right paw and leg. FrostBite was very dependent on his tail, and had been called out for it on many occasions. He hunted with his tail, fought with his tail and generally moved things about with his tail. It made him a proficient hunter, but also a very odd one. He, at least, called it out as his own individuality and quirk that made him unique.

Now became the worst part of the day, the announcements of duties and tasks for the morning or day. Whilst some had already set out to deal with the local snake issue, only a threat to the amount of prey that the Tribe could hunt, he still had the regular jobs to get out of the way. The snakes themselves weren't venomous, but were an issue to the food supply. FrostBite had been only briefly praised by SwiftSky for his planning and organisation of how they were going to deal with it. So, FrostBite slightly raised his voice to quieten down the bustling camp as per routine.

"Ah...Okay...Today's duty assignments for WaveTribe will...be as followed." He noticed the hesitance in his own voice, and quickly corrected his tone to that of a more experienced Koa. "There isn't a lot, so far. WildPaw and GreyCloud will be taking a smaller border patrol across the AshTribe/WaveTribe border, both for lesson purposes and so forth. LionHeart will be taking a look along the BlazeTribe/WaveTribe border with DewTail and DarkWhisker. Make sure you three report any different scents, as some queries have arisen there. Anyway, for hunting patrols, RoofFur and ShadeStep will be taking the Eastern Territory, and EagleClaw will go with MossLeap on the Western Territory. Most of the other duties were handed out prior to now, hence why there isn't much for today's tasks. That is all...I guess."

"Yeow!!" Rainpaw lept up in pain, the tip of his tail pulsing after the other feline's foot came down upon it. Rainpaw glared at Wildpaw as the young tom skipped out of the den, dancing around the other cats about him. How his foot so clumsily fell on Rainpaw's tail, Rainpaw didn't much care, though he pushed the thought of revenge away from his mind. Now fully awake, a small breeze pushed its way through the eucalyptus roots, sending a shiver down the small cat's spine. After a brief yawn and a licking on his lips, Rainpaw trotted out from the den, into the chill air of the camp. The place was already buzzing with activity, as many cats were busy chatting or playing. Rainpaw glanced about in anticipation, noting the absence of Cavetooth. Though there was a brief moment of worry, Rainpaw pushed the thought down, as his grandfather had a history of slipping away from the camp at night.

In his boredom, Rainpaw meandered through the camp, nodding to the cats that looked his way. Though he had known these felines all his life, Rainpaw still felt a bit distant from most of them, and only met their gaze briefly before looking away. Finally, he had found himself near the fresh-kill and took his time to look over the scraps that remained. Picking at the pile briefly, he settled with what looked to be the remains of a fish's tail and pulled it to the side, propping himself up against a nearby tree, picking away at the little pieces of meat that remained. Just where could Cavetooth be?

Interacting with @LetMeDoStuff@ADParis

Adrenaline coursed through the old cat's veins as he sprinted along the forest floor, determined in his pursuit. Primal instincts had long since kicked in, and the thrill of the hunt pushed him forward, until he was finally upon it. A small shriek filled the air as piercing sharp claws dug into the fleeing rodent, followed by the brief few seconds of tackling and sinking sharp teeth into the creatures neck, shaking twice to end its life, then throwing it into the air with a childish glee. Though it wasn't something he usually had done, Cavetooth felt that having a good hunt after a long night of worrying helped to set his mind at ease, and he began his trot back to camp to begin the daily resupply of fresh-kill.

After arriving back at camp, Cavetooth waltzed toward the center to deposit the small rodent into the pile, turning his gaze toward his grandson. Rainpaw seemed rather content with his fish tail, making Cavetooth smile, before he went to sit among the cats that had gathered around Frostbite. As Cavetooth settled in, he locked eyes with the young Koa and nodded, his blank expression noting the silence they had agreed upon concerning the previous night.

"Ah, Shadestep, lookin' bright-eyed as ever, I see," the tom smiled at the larger she-cat, trying to make idle conversation and clear his mind.

Silverfish + Streamkit + Stonekit

@LetMeDoStuff

Silverfish perked her ears as the Koa padded over in a tired manner, informing her to tell her kits to watch what they say and play. The older silver shecat blinked slowly but nodded. "Of course, Frostbite. Sorry about that. But you know kits, they can't help it once they hear something and Ringtail enjoys telling his stories of that battle." she said before turning to her kits. "Kits Come here!" she called, earning a loud annoyed groan from Stonekit before the two kits bounded over to their mother.

"Kits, please try to refrain from mentioning Cloudtribe in your play fights. It can offend some cats." Silverfish said kindly.

Steamkit nodded obediently. "Okay Momma." she mewed, but looked to her littermate as the dark furred shecat snorted.

"Why? If they get their poor feelings hurt then maybe they are too soft to be called a warrior. No, not even worthy of being called a tribe cat! Awe can't use the name of 'Rogue' either because Greycloud isn't even a tribecat? Boo. Hoo." Stonekit huffed with annoyance before flinching a little as Silverfish's motherly gaze hardened into a stern firm one.

"Stonekit, enough. Show some respect." Silverfish mewed harshly, causing Stonekit to shuffle her paws and mutte.

"Yes mom..." The dark furred kit muttered before looking to Streamkit. "Come on, lets go play Mossball then since kit play fighting hurts wittle feelings." she huffed before dashing off. Getting a ball of moss and flicking it to smack Streamkit in the face.

"Hey!" Streamkit mewled, before smacking it to Stonekit. The two of them soon chasing it around the camp.

Silverfish sighed a little and shook her head. "She takes after her father." she mused softly.

Greycloud

@sMoKe

Greycloud had simply rolled her eyes at Stonekit but said nothing, instead looking to Rosepaw as the Shaman apprentice walked by. Returning the nod softly. It was then she noticed Wildpaw was up and speaking with the Koa. Standing up, she bid farewell to Silverfish before lumbering over as Frostbite gave out the assignments for today. Listening quietly, the large fluffy shecat turned her gaze to her apprentice. The regular calm and serious expression that rested one her face.

"Are you ready? We'll take Fernlight with us on patrol. It'll give you a good chance to learn the Ashtribe border." Greycloud mewed, turning her head to mew to Fernlight to join them before starting out and heading out of camp.

Ringtail

Yawning again, the elder absently watched the kits play and the Koa send out the Warriors and apprentices on their assignments. At times, his mind still drifted off back when he was young. How he had lost each one of his littermates. Drowning... then during the fights against Cloudtribe. He couldn't help but wonder how they were doing now... in Skytribe and Deeptribe. The old tom could only hope they were alright. One day he would join them too, he was getting too old. Still, he still seemed to be kicking. So he'd get to bother the Tribe a little more.

Lionpelt + Eagleclaw

Lionpelt woke up once he felt shifting beside him. He popped one eye open to see Eagleclaw standing, trying to carefully pick her way through the minefield of sleeping warriors. Lionpelt smiled and yawned. If she was up, he might as well be up too. He took a few more minutes to wake up and actually open up his eyes. Lionpelt finally stood and carefully trekked across the warriors.

"Awake already?" Eagleclaw chuckled, stretching out her sleepy muscles. There wasn't too much sunlight, but she appreciated the warmth it gave her nonetheless. She wondered about the duties, hoping to get a morning shift. She was definitely a morning cat more than anything else.

"I'm always awake on time," Lionpelt joked and stretched with her. "Hungry?"

"Of course. But why do you always have this messy spot on your fur?" Eagleclaw asked and moved towards Lionpelt. He sat obediently and allowed her to get the knot out of his fur. He didn't like the feeling of the pulling and tugging, but when she was done his pelt did look and feel much better.

"I don't know, I'm part lion, aren't I?"

"Uh huh," Eagleclaw teased and the two went to the freshkill pile. After the two finished sharing their meal, the Koa called a meeting to discuss duties. When they knew their duties, Lionpelt looked to his companions and nodded, while Eagleclaw did the same.

Hawkpaw

Similarly to her parents, Hawkpaw was an early waker. She loved to be up early to feel the coolness of the morning. She liked to feel the cool dew under her paws. There wasn't much this morning, but Hawkpaw didn't mind. Slowly the Tribe woke up and began to eat, share tongues, and stretch. "What to do, what to do..." Hawkpaw murmured to herself. Her parents hadn't woke up yet, and she didn't want to bother Shadestep. She noticed the kits moving around and being silly, play fighting and arguing. Hawkpaw chuckled as she watched. Right when she was about to join in on the fun, Frostbite called a meeting. She spotted the slight blurs of her parents and gave them a smile which they returned.

After the meeting was over, Hawkpaw hopped up and began to search for her mentor, Shadestep as they were assigned for a hunting patrol. When she finally found her, she nodded in respect to Cavetooth, "Good morning." She didn't want to be interrupting anything, so she took a step back from the two and waited patiently to be addressed. @Vashonn @ADParis

Before Wildpaw could respond to Frostbite's teasing, the other cats began their daily gathering to hear of the day's assignments. Presently, all but a few of the warriors stood around the Koa. As he began, Wildpaw heard the sound of large paw-steps, smelled the familiar scent of his mentor Greycloud approaching from behind him. Wildpaw practically bounced into the air, whirling around to her in excitement. "You mean...Great SkyTribe! My first border patrol?" Though admittedly he had fairly extensively explored most parts of Wavetribe's territory, Wildpaw was rarely able to escape in broad daylight, when the forest was at its liveliest. he began hopping up and down β€”an action that quickly ceased when Wildpaw looked up at his mentor's expression.
Wildpaw took a moment to compose himself, took a deep breath to stifle β€”or, at least, hideβ€” his eagerness, before mewing back to Greycloud, "Yes. I'm ready." Though his mentor likely wouldn't approve of him skipping his morning meal, his anticipation far outweighed his hunger; fresh-kill was the farthest thing from important at that moment. As Fernlight padded over to join them, Wildpaw was almost already out of the camp. Even from afar it appeared obvious that he wished to make haste to meet whatever the day held in store.

The sounds of camp had grown quite loud before Stormfur elected to awaken. Having been assigned to the removal party the day before, she figured there was no reason to get up too early. Bright silver eyes opened to find the den mostly empty, save the other dormice that slumbered this late. Now's as good a time as any she thought, reluctantly rolling onto her back, flailing her paws around ungracefully to stretch. A small yawn escaped her grey snout, after which she rose and proceeded out of the roots of the great Eucalyptus.
Kits ran frantically, warriors collected around the Koa, the elders lay lazily in their den; all in all, a perfectly normal morning. She padded to the fresh-kill pile, where she sat for a moment before just grabbing one of the remaining mice sitting atop it. Stormfur hastily devoured the small brown rodent, before shifting her attention to the warriors gathered around Frostbite. She spotted Cavetooth, her companion for today's removal party, and padded towards him. She sat beside Hawkpaw, mewing a greeting to both of them. She hoped that Flamestorm and Nightpaw would return soon; sleeping in so late had made her feel listless.

Interacting with @Ambra (Iceheart)

Quickly becoming rather dissatisfied with his bony fish-tail breakfast, little Rainpaw scanned the immediate horizon, a lion gazing across his kingdom. Within an instant, the hunter spotted the half-eaten remains of a delicious-looking Mahimahi, but alas - the rest of the fish laid in the fearsome clutches of Iceheart, Rainpaw's mortal enemy! Ever since the eve the cruel and wicked Iceheart wrapped his filthy paws around the large, fat rabbit that Rainpaw had planned to nab for dinner, the two had become enthralled in stupendous combat!

The clever little cat sprung into a prowl, sneaking away the distance between himself and (what he hoped) would become his breakfast. Suddenly, Iceheart blinked, causing the phantom feline to lunge behind a nearby thicket. Letting a sigh escape his lips, Rainpaw considered his options. For one, he could retreat from his mission, but that would only leave him with the guilt of defeat and a bit of an empty stomach. Clearly, the only viable option was to press forward, determined to either attain glory or fall as a true warrior.

With a fierce fire set ablaze in his eyes, the brave Rainpaw lept from his cover, letting out a 'mew' of feline terror!

Interacting with @sMoKe (Stormfur), @1Hawkeyes (Hawkpaw), and @ADParis(Shadestep)

Through a small grin, Cavetooth nodded to Hawkpaw as she stepped back. "Good morning, young'un," he spoke in his leisurely drawl, spotting Stormfur as she approached the group. He tipped his head in greeting to her, before an unnerving thought passed through his mind - just where was his grandson? Just then, a brief shiver went down his spine. Whatever Rainpaw was getting himself into, he had better not be dumb about it!

"And what about you? You seemed to have gotten the best out of the night."

Shadestep nodded, closing her eyes for a moment. "I wouldn't have been able to fall back to sleep anyhow - figured I may as well make the most of my waking time." the black she-cat smiled only slightly.

As she finished speaking, two cats trotted close - Scorchbelly, a brown tom with white tailtip, paws, and nose, and Slatefang, a dark long-furred tom with prominent scarring on his left flank. She tilted her head in interest as Frostbite quickly apologized as he directed his attention to the two younger Warriors. She figured it wasn't really any of her business as to what the conversation was about, so she focused more on the idle chatter around her, some talking of the spotting of a snake - That sounds like fun, Shadestep couldn't help but think sarcastically - others talking of this, that, or another thing, it all sort of blended together. As the rest of the Tribe gathered around, she caught sight of a familiar brown tom - Rootfur. He noticed her as well, and trotted over to the older she-cat, grinning.

"Hey, Shade," Rootfur purred, gently touching nose to nose with her.

Shadestep returned the greeting with an affectionate, if a bit quick, grooming. Mostly his cheeks and between his ears. "Morning, Rootfur."

Frostbite's voice overpowered the chattering of cats, and as soon as the talking died down, the meeting began. Rootfur and Shadestep both silenced and listened to the Koa speak.

"It's been a while since we last hunted together, hasn't it?" Rootfur commented after the brief debriefing. He hopped up to a stand, then said, "I'll run on ahead and make sure there's no AshTribe trying to budge into our borders."

Shadestep nodded, "Of course, you go on ahead. I'll catch up." Just as she was about to walk behind her previous apprentice to move her duties along...

"Ah, Shadestep, lookin' bright-eyed as ever, I see."

"Bright-eyed and bushy tailed," the black she-cat purred, standing and stretching forward, tail up - staying still for too long made everything lock up, it felt. "You look about the same yourself, Cavetooth."

Before either party could say much else, the familiar voice of Hawkpaw injected itself into the conversation with a "Good morning."

"Oh, good morning, Hawkpaw," Shadestep said with a head tilt. "Seems like you'll be coming along for a hunt - do you think you're prepared?"

Silverfish + Streamkit + Stonekit

Watching as everyone went about their duties, Stonekit and Streamkit paused in their play to watch the Warriors and Apprentices before Stonekit looked to her sister. "Streamkit, we should go on a patrol too!" the dark furred kit chirped energetically. Seeming to be beaming with energy and adventuring spirit. Her sister on the other hand didn't particularly seem as excited. The silver and grey kit shifting her paws shyly and nervously at her littermates suggestion.

"Oh I don't think that's a good idea, Stonekit... Kits aren't suppose to leave the camp." Streamkit softly reminded, her green eyes flicking from her paws to her sister.

Grunting and rolling her violet eyes, Stonekit gave a nonchalant shrug. "So? Wildpaw snuck out all the time when he was a kit! And because of it, he's gotten a better idea of the territory then most apprentices!" she mewed convincingly as she flicked her tail towards the mentioned apprentice, watching the ginger tom bound out of camp hastily.

"Yeah... but didn't Ringtail say Wildpaw was attacked by a adder and almost.. you know.. died? If Greycloud didn't get to him, it probably would of been his last adventure.." Streamkit gently reminded.

"That was one accident! And he's fine isn't he? He'd be as energetic as he was then if Greycloud wasn't so strict." Stonekit huffed.

"She's not strict... she's just distant and calm." Streamkit noted, flinching as her sister glared at her. Both paused as Silverfish padded over to them.

"Now now, you two will get to go adventuring with your mentors when you are apprentices. Three more moons my dear. It won't be too long now." Silverfish purred, earning a loud groan from Stonekit, only growing louder as her mother started grooming her dark fur.

"But mom that's soooooo looooooong." Stonekit whined, giggling as her mother tickled her belly fur with her tongue. "Mom stop that tickles!"[/color] she wailed.

"Long or not, you'll get there. Enjoy being a kit until then. Some of us miss those days of being little rascals." Silverfish purred before cleaning Streamkit who purred happily.

"Yes Momma! It's still exciting! I wonder who my mentor will be?" she purred.

"If Rosepaw wasn't already the apprentice, I'd say Wolfmask since you're a softie!" Stonekit teased, laughing as her littermate playfully swatted her ears.

Greycloud

@sMoKe

Greycloud silently watched her apprentice excitedly hop around at the mention of his very first border patrol. Her expression didn't change, but she did find it amusing and could somewhat understand his excitement. It was his first official border patrol. Blue eyes watching as the young ginger tom calmed down, regaining his composure and giving his status of being ready to go on patrol in a much calmer way. A small crack of a smile and soft approving purr that was barely audible emitted from the young warrior.

Despite that, it was apparent Wildpaw was eager to start as he made his way to the entrance while Greycloud awaited Fernlight to join them. Skipping morning meal. The apprentice will probably regret that later but for now she would allow it to slide. She didn't really feel hungry herself. And with leafbare upon them, she'd like to leave as much prey for Silverfish, the kits, and Ringtail as she could. When they return, she'd remind Wildpaw to eat.

The large shecat rolled her eyes as Fernlight gave a amused giggle, the two catching up to the young ginger tomcat. Pushing passed him, Greycloud padded through the territory, heading a little Northeast so they could start at the mountain then work their way east along the Ashtribe border. It was a good place to start so she could watch for any possible attacks, and also when they reach the east side, make sure to teach Wildpaw the importance of being wary around the Jagged Tooth.

"Wildpaw, do you remember what part of the territory rests between the Wavetribe and Ashtribe border?" the large grey shecat mewed questionably, turning her blue gaze to the young apprentice.

Ringtail

@LetMeDoStuff

Stretching out, the elder decided to go bother the Koa now that duties have been assigned out. Standing up, the old tom padded over to the younger one, giving a soft purr of greeting. "Lovely day aint it? How be your time as the Koa young'n?" he questioned curiously, sitting on his haunches. His bones ached. Made him wonder why? Perhaps he had a bad feeling. Yet nothing today seemed out of the ordinary. Maybe it was his imagination and just he was getting too old. But he hadn't doubted his gut feelings before.

A rust-colored muzzle emerged from the safety of the sandy shaman's den. The sun had just become visible above the tops of the Great Pines surrounding Ashtribe's camp. Even so, the crisp air cut through Dawnleaf's fur, making him shiver. It seemed appropriate, though; the weather had adapted to match the mood of Ashtribe β€”cold and unforgiving. As he looked over the camp, Dawnleaf could feel the anger and discontent radiating from his tribe-members. If only I could make a medicine for injured pride, he thought. He returned to the sanity of his den, resuming his earlier task of taking stock for the cold season. It seemed that he was well stocked, apart from a few things β€”too many for one cat to take care of in time. It was instances like these that made Dawnleaf wish he had an apprentice, someone to collect necessary herbs and whatnot.
He made his way outside the den to where the Koa, Smokepelt, sat assigning duties to the tribe warriors. After he had finished, Dawnleaf approached the warrior and apprentice that had been assigned border patrol along Wavetribe territory. He recognized the grey tom as one of the more... rebellious of the tribe. Even still, it was unlikely that any warrior would refuse a request from the shaman. "Good morning to you. I hope it's not too inconvenient, but I was hoping you might be able to pick an herb for me on your patrol. We are low on Blue Ginger, a blue flower common around the Mossy Rocks of Wavetribe. I would get it myself, but I must search for a few other herbs to prepare for greencough. It seems one of the elders is already showing signs." Dawnleaf was reluctant to ask Torncoat, but was desperate; he had little help from anyone these days.

Hawkpaw

@ADParis

Hawkpaw smiled at the elder, glad to hear him in his usual calmness. As Stormfur sat down, Hawkpaw returned the friendly mew and dipped her head. She was glad hearing everyone in a good mood, no one really seemed to be very upset, even if they were stuck with duties. To her mentor's question, she answered excitedly, "I'm always prepared!" Hawkpaw liked hunting, even though her skills were obviously below average than other apprentices her age usually were. The young apprentice was always prepared to improve her skills. She looked at the Elder's Den and murmured, more to herself than anyone, "I'll catch the biggest mouse for Ringtail."

Lionpelt

"I'll see you in a bit then?" Lionpelt asked Eaglefur, running his tail across her nose, causing her to sneeze.

"Of course," she said, crinkling her nose as she left to go gather her patrol.

Lionpelt looked around to see the dark gray Darkwhisker and the lighter Dewtail. He padded over to them and mewed a "Good morning" to which both cats nodded. "You two ready to go?"

"Ready to go? I was born ready!" Darkwhisker said and began to arch and stretch his back. Dewtail shook her head and cupped Darkwhisker's ear and hissed with a joking smile, "Ready? You barely woke up when the Koa called!"

"Shhh, he didn't need to know that!"

"Alright," Lionpelt chuckled, "Come on then."

Eagleclaw

Eagleclaw watched as Lionpelt padded away. A couple strands of fur were stuck in her nose, causing her to sneeze a few times. After her quick attack, she felt a tap on her shoulder. The she-cat turned around to see Mossleap. "Think you should go to the Shaman instead of the patrol?" Mossleap questioned.

"Oh no, it was just him," Eaglefur said, flicking her tail towards Lionpelt's direction. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah, might as well, the freshkill pile is looking a little low, isn't it?"

"Definitely, let's go."

The two cats exited camp together, going towards the western territory, opposite of Shadestep's patrol.

"Of course, you go on ahead. I'll catch up."

Rootfur nodded, trotting ahead as he said he would. As his footsteps crinkled and cracked leaves and sticks, he weaved in and out of trees, making sure to stay focused on the task at paw. The brown tom dedicated one part of his attention to picking out AshTribe among the strong WaveTribe scent, and the other to locating prey on his way to the Mossy Stones.

It didn't take too long to get wind of rats - well, one rat, at least. Rootfur dropped to a crawl as he listened for the scuffling of tiny feet under the leaves. It sounded close, but he wasn't sure if it was to his right or in front of him. The brown tom carefully turned his head to the right and saw movement. His eyes widened and his breathing quickened, still soft and quiet as he adjusted his position. He moved gingerly, carefully, like Shadestep had taught him previously. He inhaled deeply - silently, softly, but deeply - then revved his back legs for the pounce.

The rat quickly darts up from the leaves and sprints, prompting Rootfur springing into action. It's not a long chase, but with a yowl of exertion he snatched the rat from the leaves, fangs digging into flesh. He shook the rat a bit to disorient and an attempt to kill it, but it managed to break free of his jaws. Rootfur used his left paw to sink his claws into it, and then got a better bite into the rodent, snapping its little neck with the force of his bite. He dropped it, bowing his head as a quick thank you to SkyTribe, and then picked the rat back up to find a good place to hide it so they could more easily get the prey back to camp.

"That was actually quite entertaining to watch, Rootfur. Good job."

Rootfur looked up to see his old mentor, and he grinned, even with the rodent in his mouth. "Fanks t' you, Sha'shtep." He flourished his compliment with a little bow.

Shadestep put a paw up and bopped him on the face. "Hush, you. Let's continue on to Mossy Stones."

Rootfur nodded, finding a tree with a peculiar knot and an abandoned den. Perfect for caching fresh-kill. He checks to make sure it's abandoned - no distinguishable scent of any animal, so it is abandoned - before he put it in there.

It wasn't till the group got to Mossy Stones that they could all smell something. Prey, yes, but something a little more concerning and exciting.

AshTribe.

Rootfur, along with both Shadestep and Hawkpaw, dropped to a low crouch. Rootfur went to go first, fur bristled and his body tensing, preparing for a fight, but it didn't take very long for Shadestep to take charge.

"Rootfur, you stay low. Hawkpaw, come on."

Rootfur actually scoffed a little bit, "Seriously?" he mewed.

"Yes, seriously," Shadestep whispered, raising to a stand, "They're less likely to attack a warrior and apprentice than two warriors. Less of a threat, less reason to attack. Let's try not to get into needless fights, shall we?"

"Alright, alright. You know best." Rootfur's ears laid flat against his head in agitation, tail flicking for the same reason. Nonetheless, he stayed put long enough for Shadestep to calmly walk to the Mossy Stones, Hawkpaw following close to her. When he was sure that she wasn't observing him and was focusing on getting to the rocks, he made his way from another angle so he'd be able to attack if need be. Even if Shadestep had far more experience, he wasn't going to just stand back and watch them get into a scuffle.

"Hawkweed. It can be used in place of catmint and it can be found in Hare Hills during greenleaf." Rosepaw recited to herself to help retain it in her memory. Oh there was so much to learn and she was loving every minute of it. She fixed an image of hawkweed in her mind, mentally repeating the name over and over again. As her mentor continued, Rosepaw turned her attention back to him, ears perked.

"Blue Ginger, it's used to treat fever and chills, mainly for greencough. It can be found year-round in the Mossy Rocks. Tasselflower, used to prevent greencough in kits and elders. It can be found during greenleaf near thunderpaths or in Hare Hills. You must chew the stalks to treat sore throat and prevent greencough." Rosepaw recited, bring up an image of the herbs in her mind. "Um, I didn't see any when I was sorting so I think you're right. Would we be able to go get some now? I'm almost done with the sorting." Her tail twitched at the thought of being able to leave the camp and go hunting for herbs. She didn't get to leave the camp very often and when she did it was always so exciting to be able to see all of the herbs and animals outside. She faintly heard Frostbite's voice and figured the Koa was handing out duties for the day, idly wondering what her brother would be doing before she fixed her attention back to her mentor.

Fighting the large snake was more than they bargained for. Flamestorm hadn't gotten hurt, and neither had Nightpaw, but one of the warriors they had brought along had gotten hurt by the creature. Its fangs had sunken deep into the cat's forepaw, and Nightpaw had become worried about its wound. They trod back to camp, the warrior resting heavily upon Flamestorm's shoulder. The other warrior dragged the dead snake behind his lanky body, its long, serpentine form dragging upon the floor behind them. Maybe someone would see it as a meal.

They made it to camp, and Flamestorm padded towards Stormfur, Nightpaw at his heels. "We killed the snake. One of the warriors has gotten injured, but Leaf-fern brought him to the medicine den already," the ginger tom's tail flicked in the direction of the fresh-kill pile, signalling out the large snake that they had slain.

"It was pretty huge," Nightpaw's voice chimed in. "Do you think there will be more prey, now that the thing isn't eating all of it?"

Well, he was going to have a nice meal all to himself. The taste of the fish was absolutely delicious, and it wasn't often that he was able to enjoy great tasting food. Iceheart decided that he was lucky-- that was, until an apprentice suddenly leapt from the thicket beside him, letting out a terrible cry. The large tom turned his head towards Rainpaw, his jaw setting and his tail twitching in annoyance. Oh, for SkyTribe's sake, couldn't he get a little peace and quiet around here, for once? "What is it you want?" Iceheart questioned Rainpaw rather dryly, pawing the fish closer to him as he eyed the smaller cat warily.
