Synopsis
the tales of old, there once walked upon the great water a mighty queen, and behind her, her beloved kit. They left their prints upon the endless depths, and from it, the Paws of the Tribes.
First, there came the Tribe of the Water - WaveTribe. Their home was made upon the sands of Big Paw, and there they flourished and ate from the birds of the sky and fish of the sea. Then, the Tribe of the Air - CloudTribe, deceitful in their ways, living upon the mountain of Little Paw. From the great heat of Fire-Rock, BlazeTribe was then born, the proud and strong Tribe of the Flame. Finally, from the soot and char of the east, the tribe of the Cinders - AshTribe. For many moons, these four great Tribes lived in harmony, and lived of the land.
Then, CloudTribe, in their spite, broke the peace and the code in their greed. A great war was fought, and left the Tribes broken. BlazeTribe and WaveTribe, in their alliance, along with support from AshTribe, defeated CloudTribe, restoring harmony, but at the cost of great imbalance. Now, the three Tribes live in spite of the other, and worry of a great battle ahead.
You have been born of this new era, when four became three, and shattered apart. You may have witnessed this great conflict some 30 moons ago, or you may have been born after, only hearing from the elders of the stories of a time of harmony. Regardless, you are of the great WaveTribe, and in your pride and strength, will grow to defend your lands from the might of BlazeTribe, or the cunning of AshTribe. Have you what it takes?
The History of the Tribes
WaveTribe
History
WaveTribe, first Tribe of Big Paw, the sand-stained cats of the open ocean. For generations, the cats praised SkyTribe for their grace, giving unto them the luxurious life of the wild, their bellies always filled with rodent, fish, and fowl. It is this great Tribe that gave aid to the other Tribes in their young age, and the Chieftain of this Tribe that proposed the first Gathering. Their way has always been the peace of the islands, and it is the cats of this Tribe that hold firm to their traditions of maintaining the Code, for they were the ones who had built it.
Gone are the days of peace, however. Through their Chief's wisdom, WaveTribe has survived this long, but only to witness the downfall of their brethren at their own hands. Though they upheld the Code in the Darkest Days of CloudTribe, WaveTribe could not fully protect them from their ultimate defeat.
Swiftsky witnessed his two friends in rivalry with one another, watching Reedsky and Smokesky feud at the Gatherings. WaveTribe shared the borders with them both, and the rolling Hare Hills to the west was where the division line lay - the peak of a particular hill split in three, from which the thieving began. It was a clouded eve when two cats had returned from their patrol, yet three had left earlier that morning. Indeed, a skirmish had been fought, and CloudTribe the opponent. In Swiftsky's confusion and loss, he called out to Reedsky, demanding explanation for the death of one of his own - they had no qualms before, and the boundaries were understood well. Why is it that WaveTribe had been targeted?
Reedsky had but the excuse of no knowledge, noting that he, too, had lost a cat during the fight, and had been told that WaveTribe had provoked them. Though the matter was quickly settled as simply an unfortunate state of confusion, Swiftsky slept little for several days, frequently calling upon the Shaman for council, to which there was none to be had. Little did Swiftsky know that this would not be the only fight between the two tribes.
Only a few weeks had gone by since the skirmish, when the grim news reached Swiftsky's ears: Reedsky lay dead, his blood staining the fur of a BlazeTribe cat. In rage, Swiftsky came to challenge Smokesky, who had once been a loyal friend. How dare he cause such a disruption to the balance of the Code? How dare he tear at the fabric of peace that had covered these lands for generations?
Before the old cat could find the answer he sought, more panic arose - CloudTribe cats had been spotted raiding the Hare Hills, swarming the fields for their hunt. Cats of BlazeTribe called for WaveTribe's aid, trying to fend them off, to which many WaveTribe cats replied with claw and fang. Far too many came home wounded, and far too many never came home at all. BlazeTribe was ready to retaliate in full, but Swiftsky had been able to calm Smokesky's anger to keep the conflict from escalating out of control. But perhaps by doing so, he had caused something even worse.
The three-day conflict between Gladesky's and Smokesky's warriors was covered in blood and deceit, to which Swiftsky had no true solution but to keep his cats at bay. Swiftsky bade Smokesky to stay his hand, but Smokesky had taken Swiftsky's advice once before, costing him the lives of too many of his own. There was no turning back now, and the scattered CloudTribe was quickly surrounded on their island of Little Paw, the small peninsula connecting the two islands their greatest weakness. When the cats of BlazeTribe came back from that island, there was next to nothing that remained of CloudTribe.
The resurgence of CloudTribe cats several moons later came as a surprise to Swiftsky, but their immediate defeat only deepened the wound in his heart. At the next Gathering, when Swiftsky, Smokesky, and Sandsky met alone, it was revealed that there were three kits that survived. Little was said after it was concluded they would be separated among the Tribes, and Swiftsky had kept his promise to keep the knowledge from all, save for the Shamans. Only they know what will happen to the three, and even what they do know is shrouded in the veil of illusion woven by SkyTribe's messages. Only time will tell...

BlazeTribe
History
BlazeTribe, the Tribe of the great fire-rock. They built themselves upon the peak of Big Paw, the foundation of great strength that coursed through their veins. Only the strongest among them could survive the harsh life, and in only a few generations, their power rivaled that of all other tribes combined. Despite this, they soon faced a great challenge that threatened the balance of the Warrior Code.
Smokesky, watching for many moons from his perch above his warriors, looked on to CloudTribe and how their numbers grew. Though he felt great happiness in seeing his fellow felines thrive, he couldn't shake the feeling of his Tribe's influence waning as time pressed on, and how CloudTribe seemed to be winning the favor of the other Tribes at each Gathering. Though it nicked at his pride, he came down from his mound, and along with several of his prized warriors he journeyed to Little-Paw, asking to gain the secrets to how this Tribe continued to prosper as his own Tribe saw no growth. With the aid of CloudTribe's Chief, Reedsky, the two soon reached an agreement, and BlazeTribe again began to expand.
Soon, however, a great infliction upon the Code was brought to light. CloudTribe, no doubt in their jealousy of BlazeTribe's strength, began sneaking into their territory to steal their prey from them! Smokesky's heart wept at this betrayal, but he acted quickly to ensure a just punishment be brought upon this lawless Tribe. Battles were fought between the two Tribes' warriors, and many strong cats returned home with injuries they could never recover from. Smokesky called for the aid of both WaveTribe and AshTribe, desiring for the selfish Tribe to have justice brought upon them, as they continued to thieve from BlazeTribe's lands.
Then, an even greater wound was inflicted. CloudTribe's Chieftain had been murdered, but the blame being cast upon BlazeTribe! An outcry of deceit and rage roared through the Tribes, and Smokesky watched as CloudTribe's newly appointed Chief took the helm - Gladesky, a cunning young she-cat who led her warriors into the mainland to purposefully raid and conquer territory that had belonged to BlazeTribe for generations. The three-day and three-night conflict, known now as the Battle of Bloodied Sand to those in BlazeTribe, was the deciding factor in a war that could now not end peacefully. The initial assault by CloudTribe was swift and without warning, cutting sharply into BlazeTribe's defenses. Smokesky quickly responded by joining the battle himself, where he even lost one of his gifted nine lives in the turmoil.
After the battle, the Tribe's strongest warriors had been able to push back their assailants to their home of Little Paw, and even Gladesky lay defeated. The scraps of what remained of CloudTribe were shadows of their former glory, and in Smokesky's mercy, were lent a gentle paw to let them redeem themselves as new members of BlazeTribe. Though initially his own warriors shunned the proposition, Smokesky was sure in his sentiment that these cats were simply mislead, and the opposition was quickly silenced. BlazeTribe had grown twice its size that day, and SmokeStar led them all back to their home as one whole Tribe.
However, this peace would not last. After several moons, a resurgence of renegade CloudTribe cats had built themselves a strong enough force on Little-Paw to assault BlazeTribe once more. Without a leader, their attempted rebellion was quickly thwarted, unfortunately at the loss of many. Three young kits from the final fragment of CloudTribe were discovered, and after the counsel of all three Chieftains, it was decided they would each be separated, one for each clan.
Now, however, BlazeTribe faces another issue. Near forty moons after the great conflict, the Tribe is suffering from a great famine that is ravaging the once strong tribe. Frequently, he has called upon WaveTribe to allow them usage of Little Paw for hunting, as half of BlazeTribe had once found their home there. He fears that if they don't find a solution soon, another battle may begin, this time with his long-time friend Swiftsky. Smokesky only hopes that SkyTribe will bless the hungry Tribe before this happens.

AshTribe
History
AshTribe, so named for the thick blanket of cinders that once covered the land, extinguishing all life.
At one time, the Great Pine forest held little more than a loose collection of rogues and strays. Until, that is, the Time of the Great Cloud. Though no cat alive today can recall that time, the tales of a terrible tremble and ash raining down, blacking out the sky, have been passed down since before the fourth tribe's formation. AshTribe itself evolved out of this calamity, from a group of strays banded together for protection and food, to the eventual emergence of a Tribe hierarchy. Through great peril, AshTribe was formed.
Many moons later, after a great many rains, plants sprang forth from the hearty grounds once again. With the plants came ponds, then trees, and, finally, prey. Of this all the cats of AshTribe must take heed: life is sacred, precious, and must not be taken without need. Such was the law of their first leader, and the next, and so on. Under the watchful eyes of AshTribe, the plants grew thicker, the prey more abundant, until a time where the Great Pines returned as they had once been in ancient times. A peaceful existence was enjoyed by all the Tribes, lasting until forty moons ago.
Sandsky led AshTribe during the time of BlazeTribe and CloudTribe's strife. Since AshTribe's border was mostly met by that of their BlazeTribe neighbors, Sandsky and Smokesky were amiable, for Sandsky's want of a continued peace. In his naivety however, Sandsky failed to realize the type of cat Smokesky actually was. It came as no surprise, then, that he offered BlazeTribe full support in their conflict with the peninsula of Little Paw. Many battles were waged, a great number of warriors lost under the false pretense that CloudTribe's prey-stealing was out of disregard and greed. Regardless of who was really to blame, Sandsky believed he had violated the most ancient belief held by all of AshTribe. Life is sacred, precious, and must not be taken without need. Though he knew the tribe held him blameless, Sandsky couldn't live with the consequences of his actions. Some say, in his shame, he gave his life to the clan of the Deep, hoping to find solace. Others believe he found SkyTribe, moved past his life on the island. Either way, he vanished some 30 moons after the war, never to be seen again.
As a Koa of only one moon, Dustfur took the role of chieftain after the disappearance of Sandsky. His lack of leadership experience was apparent; for that the Tribe suffered. Now, 10 moons after Dustsky received his nine lives, AshTribe's troubles continue to pile. His warriors have forgotten the old ways, turning to anger and blood-lust. Many feel BlazeTribe deserves to pay, for both the loss of Tribe members and the betrayal of Sandsky. Though war with the larger tribe would be foolish, some think a preemptive attack would be wise. In the midst of all the animosity, only three seem to understand how much destruction another war could cause: Dustsky, his Koa Smokepelt, and Shaman Dawnleaf. In these times of great trouble, even these three have forsaken BlazeTribe in favor of allying with WaveTribe for protection.

Tree of the Moon
An ancient hollow tree that resides in a cliff-side cave on the northeastern side of Little-Paw.
The tree basks in the pale light of the moon night after night.
It is here that the Shamans meet every half-moon, sleeping within its twisted trunk to receive visions from SkyTribe, or omens from DeepTribe.
WaveTribe Territory
WaveTribe Camp
North
This is the residence of the Tribe of the Waves. The main camp sits atop a small hill, encompassed by the thick forest on all sides.
An abundance of tall, hollow eucalyptus trees, along with a thick undergrowth, provides the Tribe with cover and bedding.
An abundance of tall, hollow eucalyptus trees, along with a thick undergrowth, provides the Tribe with cover and bedding.
Mossy Stones
Northeast
A large area of moss-covered stones on the Northeast border of WaveTribe territory. Both AshTribe and WaveTribe patrol and hunt this area frequently; skirmishes have been known to occur occasionally over hunting rights.
Shallow Pool
South
A circular sand bar at the southern tip of WaveTribe territory, cut off from the ocean at low tide. The shallow waters provide ease of access to a source of fish that replenishes with the ebb and flow of the waters.
Jagged Tooth
East
Perhaps the most dangerous place in all of the territories. Any cat careless enough to tread in these waters will find that their depth is immeasurable. The darkness of the water can't be penetrated even on the brightest days. Mystery surrounds this place; it is rumored to be the hunting grounds of a "great white beast."
Hare Hills
Northwest
A range of hills spanning from west Wavetribe to the Blazetribe border. This area is patrolled and hunted heavily.
Rabbits are common here, from which the range gets its name.
Rabbits are common here, from which the range gets its name.
The Crooked Tree
North Border
It is this tree's peculiar growth that sets it apart as the landmark boundary of WaveTribe's northern border. Many disputes between WaveTribe and BlazeTribe cats have occurred here in particular, and has been referred to by the claim that the spilling of blood upon its soil caused the tree to grow so cruelly.
BlazeTribe Territory
BlazeTribe Camp
North
Nestled in the natural valley between the central mountains, the home of BlazeTribe is burrowed deep inside of a small cave system that is connected by a few narrow passageways. The large, central room is where meetings and meals are located, and several other smaller rooms house the elders, queens and kits, warriors and apprentices, chief, koa, and shaman, respectively.
Fire-Rock
Central
Directly in the center of the island of Big Paw sits the mighty Fire-Rock - the dormant volcano which is the very foundation of the island's creation. To the cats of BlazeTribe, this great mound is a sacred ceremonial ground, where apprentices are given their Warrior names and the deceased are praised.
Rugged Hills
The surrounding lands of BlazeTribe, where mice and snakes are hunted and the cats run free. The heat here is just bearable enough, and the land is occasionally blessed with rain.
Bloodied Grounds
Southeast
A great mesa where the cats of BlazeTribe fight one another for sport and training - covered in the spilled blood of generations of hardened Warriors. The trek here is often gruesome, as only the strong can climb the steep edges to the top to battle. Often, disputes and rivalries are settled here.
The Forest's Edge
South
The very northern portion of the forest between WaveTribe and BlazeTribe territory is often a disputed land, where many cats have battled over where the boundary truly lies. BlazeTribe claims that they should be allowed to hunt just inside of the forest, while WaveTribe believes that the treeline should set them apart.
Rabbit-Hole Woods
Northwest
Past the Rugged Hills to the north, and beyond a small patch of grass, lie the Rabbit-Hole Woods - another hunting ground for BlazeTribe, but has recently been a source of much bloodshed from a group of tribe-less cats who have made their home there. This land is still being disputed over, and BlazeTribe has frequently called upon the aid of the other Tribes to drive this cat-gang from their rightful territory.
AshTribe Territory
AshTribe Camp
North
The heart of AshTribe, the main camp. Nestled between the two sides of Adder River, the main camp is secure from all but the most carefully planned attacks. Trees grow on all sides of the river, along with heavy undergrowth. The southeastern side is also guarded by a low ravine that separates the main camp from its outer boundaries. Though mostly a plateau of sand, heavy rainwater and river overflow has cut deep troughs and small caves that now house the tribe. It is customary that the Chieftain, Koa, and Shaman, have their own private quarters. Aside from this, four large caves house the warriors, apprentices, elders, and queens, along with their kits.
Great Pines Forest
South
The territory and hunting grounds of the Tribe of Ash. The trees here often grow upwards of two tree-lengths (80 - 100 ft).
Prey scamper, fly, and crawl through these woods in abundance. It is mainly home to mice and squirrels, with the occasional grass bird or adder.
The moss-covered earth makes for easy hunting.
High Rock
West-Northwest
The tallest point in all of AshTribe's territory, at the base of the mountains.
Used as a lookout for invaders or potential threats. Patrols pass here daily.
Adder River
North-Northeast
Named for the massive bed of poisonous snakes that traverse the northern inlet of the river.
While the east half is saltwater, the west is fed by rainwater off of the mountains and is safe to drink.
Adder Pond
West
Southwest tip of the Adder River. Small body of freshwater that feeds the west portion of the Adder River.
Frequented by AshTribe hunting parties.
Sunning Rocks
South-Southeast
A favorite spot of off-duty warriors and apprentices. Gossip and Tribe news is shared here.
