Is it bad that I drank over 2 liters of ginger ale in 2 days? I've been drinking it because of the idea that it helps with nausea [I'm pregnant]. Is it just a placebo effect, or does it actually help with nausea? Please help

It has long been argued that ginger has natural antiemetic properties, but it's never been truly proven. Soda in those quantities isn't great for you (or the fetus) because of all the sugar, but it's better than being continually nauseous. If the nausea continues, I'd go to the doctor and explore other options -- you don't want to keep drinking soda in those amounts. Other natural stomach soothers include peppermint hard candies/gum, various herbal teas, and there are always bland foods like crackers or plain rice which will help settle an upset stomach.

Different things help with different people when it comes to pregnancy and nausea. For me, it was avoiding meat and quitting smoking for the pregnancy. If it helps you, then keep on doing it. If you are worried about what is in the ginger ale, then you can make your own. There are plenty of recipes on the internet on how to make it that way you can control how much ginger, sugars, etc is going into the drink, or you can make yourself some ginger tea with some honey.

I completely forgot that ginger ale is like.. one of the easiest liquids to make. I think I'll try the tea first just because I'm UK, and tea sounds better. As for quitting smoking - that helped a lot also. I've not tried meat, but it would make sense, because my mum also did that. I'm to carnivore.

I just didn't eat meat because the thought, smell, and sight made me sick. I couldn't cook one of my favorite meals because the smell of the food made me physically nauseous. It was not necessarily a conscious choice on my behalf, but more a choice that was made to make myself more comfortable. It gets much easier, unless you have 'morning sickness' (it's better to call it pregnancy nausea, imo) through out the entire pregnancy.

I understand. The only thing bothering me more than the nausea is these stupid cramps I've been getting. But, I can deal with those, just not both. Why is this so difficult. Seems like if whoever made us wanted us to reproduce they'd make it a little bit easier. >3>

Since a human is supposed to drink at least 2 liters of liquids every day anyway, I don't see why this is a problem.
