@TwelveOf8 The instrumentals are pretty good, and I feel it's pretty catchy. However, the vocals don't really sit right with me for some reason, and the parts where it rings are pretty irking.

6/10

@KaijuBaragon 5.5/10 It's okay, just nothing stands out for me, musically or lyrically. Which is a little disappointing because I know Young The Giant can do better. ('My body' for example.)

@Rockatiel You need to rate and post music on here. ;P

For those who can take harsh vocals...

@SleepingSilence 6.5/10. I really like the instrumentals in the song, a lot, but the vocal is just a little too extreme for my tastes.

I'm going for something a little weirder now, enjoy

@KaijuBaragon Huh. That was better than I anticipated. I mean by all means it's not my taste, really, but it's decent. Defining feature for me is how well it matches the music video. If I get past my tastes, I can see why someone would like this song. Upbeat, decent instrument usage, nice rhythm, I just dislike the vocals a bit. I can barely make out what they're trying to say under the 20 different filters. I guess that's part of the style of music though.

I rate it 8/10.

Something entirely different:

@SleepingSilence woops! On mobile, so I didn't notice this wasn't the what are you listening to thread. My bad.
https://youtu.be/GCdwKhTtNNw

Again, kinda sexy and upbeat. Changes tones. Overall gives me this kind of dreamy feeling. 9/10 for meeee.

Edit: okay lol I listened to @Buddha's song and it doesn't sound bad! Kinda like an avg rap song for me. 5.8/10! Assuming 5 is the average and not like a 50% grade

@KaijuBaragon I had an instrumental version on the bottom. ;3 Since I listened to your song because I tend to enjoy weird and I did. Though mostly appreciate the music video, but it was nice. 7.5/10

@Rockatiel A little slow for me during the 2nd half, seems like a standard indie track. (I guess it was on the radio, so it makes sense.) But I can understand the appeal. 5.5/10.

It's an intro track for their upcoming album, not sure what I appreciate, the music video is nice and the song is too...morely excited for it. (Got distracted in my writing and long forgot what my original idea was. Sorry. XD)

@SleepingSilence I normally don't dig slower tracks, but I liked this one! More than average.. It was sweet. And I liked how it picked up and sounded more epic.

This is from one of my faaave artists right now. I'm getting more into slower tempo tracks. I really like all the different sounds and beats in this song, not to mention it just has this smooth vibe that makes me want to melt into a puddle.

Can't say I enjoyed it as much as you do. At first I thought I was in for a pleasant surprise, but as soon as it started sounding like there were two or three different base lines (near the end of the first chorus), I couldn't help but get a sense of discordant sensory overload.

The variety of sounds seemed like a mess of creative decissions that may have sounded cool if there was a bit more thought put into it, but as it was it sounded like a batch of pre-synthesized beats that don't go together well, and the artist did nothing to make better. 5/10.

@Rockatiel Pretty good, though its a little bit too repetitive for my taste. Yet overall its a pretty good pop song. 7/10

@TheMadAsshatter A good, slow, calming instrumental track. 8/10

@TheMadAsshatter 7/10 I have my own self stated rule that if a song is longer than 6 minutes, it better be epic or at least have a good reason why it's so darn long. Around 2 minutes, I was getting excited that I thought is was building to something, but it really didn't continue the build and despite it seeming like just band practice instrumentation. (seemingly no real structure to it.) I actually did enjoy it as background music, but I feel like I can't rate it higher despite liking it, because it really felt like it was dragging on. (to be fair, like most long songs tend to do.)

@ZB1996 6.5/10 I feel odd now, my original rating for the last song was this, and I was going to rate your song that...Instrumentation was perfectly solid, I think I would of preferred a different vocalist. It wasn't bad vocals mind...well except for the harsh vocal yell attempt past 4:30 somewhere and the last minute of the shrill high pitched vocals that made the ending quite unpleasant for me. Hence the rating difference.

I have no idea what I appreciate about this. Just posting a song/band people probably never heard of. (if you like this at all, listen to their second album, its very good and upbeat. :P)

@SleepingSilence Very interesting mix of electro, power metal, and 80s nostalgia. Reminds me of those sci-fi comedy movies like weird science. 6/10

What is there to say? It's feelgood electronica. It sounds like every other feelgood electronica song. +2 for the bassline and -1 for obnoxious child chorus. 6/10

(song starts at :50 or so.)

@pugbutter The first few seconds of that I was thinking it'd be heavy metal. The mood switch was a pleasant surprise and the rest of the song sounds fun to jam out to. 7.5/10.

@TwelveOf8 It's math rock. Though yeah the only vocals this band does is mr.roboto stuff. This is honestly one of the few decent tracks on the 3rd album, 2nd album is so much better. I figured I'd listen to your track for fun. 7/10 I kind of liked the cheese of it. :3

@pugbutter I don't listen to a lot of older music, not for any real particular reason though. 8.5/10 Really liked the song, rock/metal guitar paired with other instruments (organ? piano? Whatever it was, loved the interlude of it.) make the best music. :3

@Mateotis Beat me to it. Rating: That beat was legit dope. 8/10 Very fun. (sucking dick lyrics aside.)

Used artist before, but I really do want more music like this.

@pugbutter 12/10 because the hobbits were taken there. Fairly unique vocals. Was nice, I enjoyed the sounds being used throughout the song, can't play exactly what it is, sounds like a cello? Love the horn at the end. 8/10

I appreciate this because Lacey Sturm is a fantastic vocalist. (imo) And I was so sad when she left music. (but it was to raise her new child.) So I'm quite glad, she made a solo effort.

@SleepingSilence 7/10. The parts that were actually music were really good, but the fact that the first like two minutes were just people talking which was pretty weird and confusing, takes it down a few.

7/10 Enjoyed it, +.5 soulful voice, only real thought it that it feels like it could of had a little more.

Here's another soulful song, probably the most aggressive song I've heard from this band. And I enjoy a little aggression.
