Not sure if sinister is the right word for it, but it definitely gives off that sort of vibe with the techno-ish instrumentation and what sounds like... words, maybe? Nice little spine-chiller tune. 8/10.

6.5/10 Decent. Reminds me a lot of RPG maker music actually. This would fit into their soundtrack.

Ah, an underrated game. (that was unrated in my opinion for a very good reason.) But if you want someone to make up a sob story for literally any object you could think of. Like pick up a cookie, and you'll be reminded of the futility of life and how quick the cookie is eaten, like the death of everyone you loved. But hey, if you want see two guys kiss for no reason, and deal with the most cliched villain possible. This is game for you.

@SleepingSilence Not bad vocals, I find the music just a little to minimal for me to get into it, but I can see the appeal. 5.5/10

@Garattee Well it's funny. I probably wouldn't rate my music too much higher, but to be fair on the game, the soundtrack is pretty good. The only real strong point is the vocals, though I appreciate good vocalists in video game sound tracks, because they're often misused and around 1:30 it picks up a bit for me. Though for minimal piano music, that track seemed to be just that. I liked the ending little flourish of notes. (I still need to play the phoenix wright games.) 6/10

Another game you'd never play based on the cover, meaning you miss out in a kick ass game.

I remember that game. Good times. :3

It has a really funky sound to it, what with the techno instrumentation and all. It's just super energetic and I like it a lot. 8.5/10.

You're supposed to rate the song above you on a scale of 1 to 10.

Right well, the function of this thread is to rate the music that's posted above you, not to try and defend the music that you've posted from low/mediocre scores. Keep that in mind because it discourages people to be honest about how they feel about the song if they feel like they are going to be challenged if they say something critical. If you want to comment more on your own music, i think that can be done in the 'what are you listening to' Thread.

@Cpt Toellner Yes indeed please rate the song above you out of 10, edit it in to your post if you will.

As for your track.

I really like powerful rise of the instrumentation, and the vocals/chants are well done. It definitely has a lot character to it, which is tough when a lot of VGM is trying to sound 'epic'. I do wish there was more variation with the melody or some sort of breakdown though, but for the length of the song, its not too much of a big deal. 7.8/10

@Garattee I was just having a discussion friend...About the music itself. If "I wouldn't of rated it much higher." seems like too much of a dogmatic defense/some kind of attack to you, wasn't even remotely my intention. But I apologize, I suppose. I was merely trying to discuss the music. I have no problems with people being honest. Figured any music thread could be about discussing music, if you defend your music, if I rate too low or surprised if I rate it too high. You have my full permission to do so...

@GarlandDaHero Listened to it so I could give ya rating to tide you over. Usually if someone skips a rating, I'll just rate em all. ;P FFX did have a good soundtrack. This particular track is decent, maybe I'm just impatient but I've never been super fond of most atmospheric/quiet moments in music. 6.5/10

@Garattee As for your musical track. The female vocals seemed a little sub-par to me, maybe the words they sang could be considered catchy. It's probably because of the console it's on, but the instrumental part feels mostly bland as well. The occasional guitar parts were nice. 4.5/10

Well 'friend', your passive defense of your music isn't what this thread is for. To keep a simple pattern, we rate the music above and post our own song below. I have no intention to start defending my music or anyones because we are only supposed to be rating the song above. Keep that in mind as you go forward in this thread please.

As for the track

3/10 very generic 'action' spy music which has a very generic guitar riff and uninspired drum patterns. And I actually like the games soundtrack for the most part.

@Garattee Sigh, What else would you like me to call you other then "friend"? You know there's an entire meme around people saying "I'm not your buddy, pal." and so forth and I'd like to think it's for people that take endearing statements offensively...Any rate, seems a little silly to dictate what I can and can't say. But, if you specifically don't want any actual musical discussion, you can state that in the actual front page, since you made the thread. But I will hold my thoughts, specifically on your thoughts. I don't wanna fight over it. :3

Hey remixes should be against the rules. :P *kidding just in case it isn't obvious from the emoticon.* Well I guess if you say, "it's over already?" maybe that makes it's good background music...like I said always prefer in your face soundtracks. 6.5/10 Decent.

Good example of one. (though imao I find subtly can work best in horror games. :3)

^ 6/10. Literally not a fan of vocals in any video game track (unless it is an orchestral soundtrack and there is a very subtle chorus). Otherwise, a decent track.

@Mortimer Wow, really? That's actually kind of intriguing...no vocals in music tracks at all? So, like no soundtrack games like jet set radio or tony hawk? An awful lot of RPG's. I know most people have some kind of vocals they can't stand, but altogether? Maybe the first time. I'm interested what music (if at all) you listen to outside of video games. 7.5/10 Enjoyed it.

@SleepingSilence

The tinny instruments in this track are mixed terribly, especially the snare in that poorly tuned drum kit. There is a lack of any real melody or feel to this track the riffs loop is very stale , it sounds like a blink 182 demo track from the late 90s. And I actually like burnout, kinda. 1/10

Fantastic piece of soundtrack as with most "Fighting" ones in video games. 10/10.

@Mortimer A little generic sounding but the main melody definitely has character. I like the way the guitars build towards the middle 8 section. 7.5/10

@Dynamo Frokane Never actually played burnout 2 myself. Did enjoy the ones I did play, so figured I'd listen to the soundtracks one day. I agree it does sound like a blink 182 demo track. I guess you really don't like generic upbeat songs. ;3 Thought I melody sounded nice, despite the lower quality mix. But I guess your enjoyment of blink 182-esque music is kind of dependent on that...

@Garattee 8/10 Quite short, but it's enjoyable.

No I don't like poorly mixed instruments, out of tune snare drums and 2 note guitar riffs.

Dude why are you describing how you felt about your own song? You're only supposed to be rating the song above you right?

I agree with @Garattee Be cool and follow the rules, and don't wink at me with those sarcastic emoticons or I'll get @Tulpa in here :D

As for the Okami Track 5/10 standard japanese flavoured 'thriller' music.

Come on man, you can't trash someone's song and be surprised when they defend it a little bit. You just did it again in this post, you don't have to like a song to not be rude, but you're going out of your way to talk crap about it right before acting bewildered that he's responding. It takes two to tango.

As far as that Okami track goes, it honestly sounds kinda like "Generic Japanese Epic BG". It's not bad, but I'm not going to be able to remember a bar of it once it stops playing. 5/7.

Anyway, I don't know if you guys played Morrowind, but I liked this song a lot better as the slower, more evocative main theme from that, as opposed to the "Song of the Dragonborn" they slowly mutated it into over the years.

That music gives some classic vibes that I love. Not one I would hear time and time again, but pretty...great! 9/10.
