I noticed there was a general music thread, but heres one specifically for VGM or VGM Remixes/Covers

same as before, rate the posted song above you /10

Also feel free to add why you like a song as you post it.

Please only discuss and rate the song above you, this is not a standard discussion thread as a back and forth will disrupt the rating order.

I know David Wise's music gets a lot of exposure but this particular remaster really does the melody and drum justice.

@Hostile@pugbutter I think we are supposed to rate the song above us /10 and I think its supposed to be one song per post just like in the other music appreation thread.

I'll review your Halo OST song 6/10 atmospheric, does its job but doesnt stand out that much to me.

7/10: It's a good song but not the sort of thing I'm used to - difficult to appreciate something which gives you a music version of uncanny valley. Probably like it more if I'd heard more of a similar thing.

@JaceBeleren Very moving and epic, but I feel that a lot more could have been done with this theme at least instrumentation-wise. 6.5/10

@Garattee The melody is pleasant. Though with the instrumentation and the changing pace I cannot tell if this song is supposed to be relaxing and chill or upbeat and happy. 6/10

Or anything by Paul Anthony Romero for that matter.

Here's a symphony he'd put together with some of his best videogame music:

Oh, and how do I embed videos here? Seems that the usual methods doesn't work...

EDIT: Oh hey, fixed!

EDIT2: Okay, listened to the soundtrack again. Too repetitive at times but the vibe is absolutely dripping with personality and has captured its era and style perfectly. 7/10.

@Lucian Ill review your second video. This is quite a good track. The haunting choir vocals give the song a very dark feel, and the stringed instruments chopping roll makes one feel as if something horrible is lurking right around the corner. 8/10

Never played Legacy of Kain. While the song's not wholly my style, I can dig it for the atmospheric effect. Solid 7/10.

@Dark WindI'm a fan of the Witcher series, though I've yet to play the first game nor finish Wild Hunt. I have finished Assassins of Kings and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All that said, I find this song both fresh, intense, and cultural. It really represents well the setting and atmosphere of the Witcher series.
8/10.

@TwelveOf8this is extremely well played and the theme is a classic, epic but also sort of down to earth at the same time, the only gripe I have is with the particular distortion level of that guitar, it doesnt seem to fit the rest of the orchestra. 7.8/10

by the way, if anyone knows the genre of this track and/or other songs like it, I'd much appreciate!

5/10 First thing it reminds me of is the guy that sang the Kirby "right back at you" theme song. The women is putting so much effort into something with very little lyrical substance. Just kind of middle of the road sounding to me.

I secretly goddamn hate this song. But I'm in the minority here (it seems). Great unrated game.

An interesting track. Very funky and experimental. The style was a bit all over the place though. I suppose it is in the name. Much respect to artists who aren't afraid to do shit that's way the hell out there. 7/10

It's kind of lovely to listen to video game music from games you've not played in years, and have so many memories flood back. Especially with @TwelveOf8's pick - it's moody, and melancholic, and made me go "you know, the Gabriel Knight series was actually quite neat". I would give it an eight out of ten.
