So yeah this game is kinda poor, not earth shatteringly terrible, but a disappointment. It feels like ME1 but not in a good way. In a sense that they seem to have taken steps backwards towards 2007 but without the comfort of the novelty of a new type of game. ME1 really blended the conversation and space opera story together wonderfully, you felt like a small but significant part of a breathing universe. ME:A kinda acheives the same but every game with conversation wheels has been ripping off ME for the last 10 years so it just seems ehhh.

It also has some glitchy animations, most noticeably in the facial region which indicates some rushed work.

There is plenty wrong with this game without even mentioning the animations, dumb glitches like this are essentially the rotten cherry on top of a sadly mediocre game.

So why the focus on the facial animations?

The splinter theories got thicker when it seemed like the character designs were pandering to be gay and minority friendly. Ahh, well there it is, the only conspiracy here is the mysterious case of the short fucking memory.

From the clips I've seen of the writing/dialogue, I'm probably not going to purchase the game. Everything appears rather static and boring with dreadfully non-dynamic characters. Honestly, a lot of the dialogue sounds similar to the very first script I wrote and that was an ugly piece of shit. Truly, this could apply to the first piece of writing for most people.

Small side note, what's with NPC's acknowledging you're flirting with them so absurdly bluntly? Did the writing team have no tact? Jesus.

Wasn't MEA the project of Bioware's Edmonton studio? Namely, the one that hadn't produced anything before?
The animation shortcomings were a bit of a surprise to me, given that I've been playing through DAI and the animations are really well-done. And DAI was released about 3 years ago. Perhaps they had less time to work on MEA (relative to the other ME titles). It wouldn't be the first time Bioware has pushed something out really quickly.

Which is shallow, but, I mean shit man, it's a videogame fantasy romance. It's not like that gets DEEPER because you gave the virtual GF purple hair and an Adam's apple.

Plus there were some pretty unfortunate glitches that didn't do much to allay any SJW fears -- like in the game at launch it's literally impossible to build a white guy to play as. That's, ya know. I've never found a reason to buy a Mass Effect game, or get into the series. And this sort of issue comes across as picking up small stones in an effort to confirm an individual or a group of people's presently standing ideology while ignoring the larger issue (that the game is shit. period.)

Well I haven't bought it -- not because of any SJW bullshittery (hell I enjoyed Rogue One), just because reviews are pretty genuinely awful. But allegedly you can't make a custom white guy.
