Personally I'd vote 8000, since well...Chaos giant is FFFFFFF too stronk for 4000

Chaos giant is too strong for even 8k.

But then again, I have a wildly different perspective on this issue than most do. I look at RP dueling more like wrestling than I do the actual game, where it becomes an art through fighting rather than just fighting to win. This is why I personally prefer 4k.

Eh, in a duel you should always work to achieve victory. Just as you should always strive to make it enjoyable and/or challenging for opponent. Life totals don't matter in this regard. Besides, there's plenty of ways to stop a chaos giant.

@Raddum
If you like playing it, don't give it up. Consider it a command if you need. :P

So I should have a rookie character play like a professional because I should give my opponent a challenge, rather than have him purposefully make a mistake so he can learn and develop from there? Granted, I agree with the sentiment of trying to win, but everyone tries to win differently. I don't berate your way of thinking, by the way. I think it's a valid stance to have, just not one that I personally agree with. Play to win Vs. Playing for fun, and all.

A very legitimate opinion, one I understand very well too. I personally used to share that train of thought until I reached "higher levels". Not sure how to word it properly, but as I got better at the game I started noticing that a lot of people enjoyed me going all-out, even if that'd mean they'd have a poor chance of winning.

Simply put, people feel like winning is less of an accomplishment to win if you hold back, which in turn reduces the satisfaction you'd normally get from winning. This is why I've decided to not hold back.

I feel like this is extending too much towards the players, and less towards the characters. Characters can be played however an individual wishes; If your character is inexperienced, and makes mistakes, that's your call; If a character has carried a specific archetype with them for a majority of their dueling career and know how to use it, that's their thing. If it's unbalanced, that's a display of different in-character skill levels, and that's all. It shouldn't extend to us outside of the game, wishing for a challenge; If that's the case, go actually play the game. This tournament isn't calling for professionals; It's calling for individuals, skilled or not, who have been able to carry on the legacy of the Guardian Monsters throughout history to their modern time.

Personally, Itaki is not playing to win; He isn't a professional duelist, he can slip up; But he's been using Ancient Gears since he was a kid; So he knows how they work. So he'll be capable of giving new players a rough time, but due to his character, he'd rather teach them a bit; Sure he has a better chance to win, but the other character'll get something out of it, you know? And that's what truly matters to him. If they beat him, he'd feel even better; Knowing they had a good time, like he sure as hell did.

The issue here is the perception of the players, and not the characters at all. Sure, characters might get upset if they lose; Perhaps like some characters in the anime they'll take it way too harshly, but again, that's them. None of it should extend to us, and if it does, maybe a RP like this isn't for us.

Again, if you actually -want- a challenge, go play YGOpro, DEVpro, Duel Network; Or hell, come meet me at the Tulsa Regionals and duel my actual Ancient Gear deck which will carry all the shithead meta solemn strikes and warnings and dimensional barriersand kaijus that'll provide an actual challenge.

Sidenote: Itaki's deck contains none of the above, because playing overly meta and trying to win because you yourself in real life can feel like a rockstar is pretty damn meh.

Thaaaat's all I can think to say atm

Yeah, this is kind of my stance on the whole thing. My bad if I didn't properly convey what I was trying to say.

EDIT: I'm also not going to comment on it further, 'cause it'd be clogging up the Int. Check too much.

Mhmm, fair enough.
I did not mean Rookie characters should carry themselves as professionals. If your charactr's a rookie he should be played a rookie, that's just RPing. It's just a personal opinion (that I admit might've been better kept for a different time).

I understood, mostly. It was mixture between the posts you both made that sparked my above response, however.

Admittedly I'd be sour if someone was carrying all the meta traps and I wasn't, but in an actual competitive duel, I never would be caught without them. In this, Itaki is nowhere near a pro; Like his CS says, it's a hobby. A hobby he's extremely passionate about that he could possibly improve on; However, he's been adding to his deck and spending money on finding the cards that fit his childhood deck; Even the newest ones, such as the custom card I made; Ancient Gear Manufacturing. He, of course, has spells and traps; But not shutdown ones like solemn or d-barrier. I'll wait until we start revealing decklists, but I don't think anybody is gonna be too upset with my decklist. (Ryougu knows what my usual gears look like as we've dueled. It's basically a lesser version of that)

@Ryougu

A personal opinion that has been noted, buddy! But if some players would rather not all-out play to win, that's their decision, and it should be respected. (Not saying that you were attempting to disrespect, just making this clear. A good thing to note for ALL of our players.)

Fortune SCALE just refers to them being Pendulums, they are still Fortune Fairy/Lady respectfully

I think Garland knows that, it's just that with 'Scale' between "fortune" and "lady/fairy" they'd technically not be a "fortune lady/fairy" monster, but rather a "fortune Scale" monster. The solution to this would be to add a silent name rule, just like can be seen on Edge Imp Frightfuloid. Though in this case it'd be (This card is always treated as a "Fortune Lady" monster.) and (This card is always treated as a "Fortune Fairy" monster.)

I like how we have every sort of summoning involved in this roleplay. Fusions, Rituals, Synchros, Xyz, and Pendulums.

Thooough we don't have anyone who is focusing on Xyz anymore with Raidraptors being dropped. rip

@Killfang96I think I'll go for elemental or maybe masked depending on what rules we're using, I'm not exactly a pro so I might go elemental anyways.
@Raddum Why is my pic smaller? If all goes well yeah, expect another hero deck :).

I honestly don't know. The image size on Google Images was the same, or at least the numbers told me so. I was too lazy to fix it, so let's just turn it into trash talk so I don't look like I messed up.

Um... Uh... You'll NEVER get Stratos back in the TCG! Therefor your deck isn't fit for the big time, therefor your picture is small and insignificant like YOU!

And here we go, another character; MY character. With a name that will send shivers down the spine of any who hears it...
I present to you...

Looks good to me. Accepted.

@GarlandDaHero
What's the limit on cursing anf offensive language?

I'm allowing it, but I suggest more colorful language(the f-bomb, the sh-bomb) be censored with asterisks or any other symbols you can think of.

@Darkmoon Angel

Like what @Ryougu said, they aren't Fortune Fairies/Ladies because of how the name is structured. Just add a little (This card is always treated as a "Fortune Fairy/Lady" card.) bit to the text, so that they still get the support.

Also, how's this for a LP compromise:

6000 Life Points. It's halfway between 4000 and 8000, so duels will be an appropriate length, I think.

This entire RP is a middle ground.

I suppose it works. That's a whole solemn warning (That I wouldn't use anyways) worth the life points. It's enough to make people question spending their LP on card effects, so I'm down with it.

I was thinking something.
With how reliant a lot of decks are on extra deck monsters limiting it two one on the field at a time might ruin some decks.
Limiting to one summon from the extra deck per turn might work better.
