@SleepingSilence 3/10. I didn't like it, the singers' voices were a bit grating on my ears and the instrumentals weren't anything that special.

@Heat I'm not sure I could get behind the vocals, but the drums and guitar were stellar - fast and aggressive, like a god-damned hammer smacking me in the temples, trying to knock the me out of my skull until there's nothing left but that stellar, angry guitar and drum work. The premise for the video was neat as well. I reckon folks who're more into this sort of metal would appreciate this way more than me, but even as somebody who isn't into Lamb of God's particular style of metal, I'd give that a seven out of ten.

Warning: it sort of gets a bit graphic towards the end of the video, so if you're feeling squeamish, best to just listen to it without watching the video. Though the video helps make the track even better, so it's not violence and vaguely uncomfortable looking imagery for the sake of it, if that makes sense.

@Hylozoist Huh...I'm honestly super torn on what I thought about that one. Maybe it's because I just woke up? Parts I liked, (beat around 3:00) certain sounds were unpleasant on first listen. This genuinely feels like a grower...(the only problem is I don't know if more listens would make me like it more or less...) I'd hate to give it a middling score, I do like drum and bass as a genre. But I'm afraid instead of enjoyment or dislike. I'm kind of lost. 6.5/10?

Metalcore is a simple genre, but I think it's too often overlooked. It makes some good music darnit. :P

I feel like I'm gonna give this an unfair rating since, I'm never into this type of genre, or probably it's just the song itself. Guess it's appealing in it's own way though, I like their enthusiasm. :> 6/10

@Sputnik Very interesting style there. Starts out quick and jazzy, then makes a transition into smoooth and sloow. Then back to fast at the end as if nothing happened! The lyrics are all right and I liked the instrumentals, so 8/10 overall.

I feel like I had to mention this as a bonus:
@Hylozoist The Machine Gun! One of my long-time favourites from Noisia. The starting 'melody' sets a dark and robotic mood with its repetition, the build-up gets you hyped and then the machine gun starts ripping in a dirty grind filled with bass. I love it, 10/10. I won't make mention of the video...to each their own!

This one's a recent Monstercat release and one of those 'love it or hate it' kind of tracks, at least imho. The glitchy drop has me hooked though!

Again, Electronica ain't my forte. It can be done well but there's a point where repetition crosses a line and just gets boring. 4/10

Meh, it was alright. I kinda dig the jazzy vibe, but ultimately I wasn't particularly impressed. I don't know why, but when it comes to instrumentals, particularly of that type, I tend to prefer slower, more relaxed stuff. Probably about a 6/10.

So, you say you don't like electronic stuff, eh? TOO BAD!

6/10 Pleasant EDM, nothing particularly stands out. (aside from the phrase "tasty release" sounding a little dumb. :P) I do prefer vocals in most of my music, out of personal taste, so maybe a singer would of helped bump up the rating a bit.

Chevelle finally got me to love one of their albums. <3

I like some of Chevelle's stuff, especially when they get heavy. The song wasn't anything incredible but I liked it. The solo towards the end was pretty sweet.

@Heat I can't help myself by sing the "YES SIR!" part, fucking addictive as hell to me. No other Chevelle album really grabbed me like this one, they do heavy well but usually focus on the melodic side. (only possible thing that I find unnecessary is the children backing vocals, it's often not done right.)

Anyway your song, 8/10 I enjoyed it, apparently the people that listen to this genre is limited. So I rated it. :3

Okay, I know I've used this guy before. But I forgot his name for quite a while, just rediscovered and relistening to his album now and their both so good. This guy made a double length album, one songs full of hardcore music and the other half acoustic tracks. I figured it wouldn't be justice to not including a song from both. Just wish it wasn't so hard to find single songs on youtube. (listen to one if you gravitate to one genre more than the other.)

@SleepingSilenceHey there, me again. Part-time poster and full-time procrastinator. Here to offer my critique and such, for what it's worth.

Jamie Lenman - I ain't your boy: What can I say? The drum beat, though relatively simple, had precise and metronomic rhythm. The guitar, I could say the same thing. The vocals? They kinda sounded like a drone on the lower pitched long notes. Otherwise, the vocals fit the song well. This song has a certain je ne sais quois. 8/10

Jamie Lenman - All the things you hate about me: What can be said? Just a generic sounding hardcore song. Though I do appreciate the odd but charming touches such as the saxophones. This is why I'm not a fan of hardcore anymore. There seems to be a lot less diversity of sound and style in the genre, as opposed to styles like electro-pop and indie rock. 4.5/10

@TwelveOf8 I really like that, it's got a nice beat, good instrumentals and vocals, and it's pretty catchy overall. Isn't anything too memorable, but it's nice. 8/10

I'm going to post another Young the Giant song now, but this is quite different from the last one I posted. Enjoy Daydreamer.

@TwelveOf8 Yay, it's not dead. :D Pretty much nailed the ratings. :3 That "I ain't your boy" is just so damn catchy to me and strong enough lyrics that it doesn't get annoying if it gets stuck in your head. And yeah that hardcore track isn't my favorite of his either. Had a lack of songs to pick from, probably would of gave it an average score only because of the sax. The song is too long for it's own good, most his other tracks are shorter and better for it. Though hardcore can have variety, it's not exactly metal. The vocals almost always stay the same, it seems to be the connecting point of the genre. Though I don't listen to a lot of the hardcore genre either.

@KaijuBaragon 7/10 Was enjoyable. :3

@SleepingSilence 3/10, too much manbun.

In all seriousness, it was sorta good at the start, but it just devolved into generic, repetitive lyrics and a heavy-ish chorus. Wasn't really my preferred music style, either.

@Wade Wilson Yeah, it doesn't exactly offer much aside from a listenable song. As for yours, 6/10 It's sort of fun, kind of reminds me of a pop version of an Atreyu song, lyrically speaking. But I know Set It Off, can make catchier music. ('Why worry' is still my favorite song of theirs. :P)

*makes mental note* I need to listen to more older nightwish...<.<

@Dinh AaronMk Alright, fair enough. Benefit that the thread timer is off. I rated yours above...sorry.

I suppose if you are going to preachy about something...be clever and have catchy lyrics and good enough instrumentation that the message isn't the only thing you get out of it?

@SleepingSilence Hey! I've returned! Finally got around to getting the piece my computer needed so I'm back to the site for good. Anyways, getting into my review and then my pick...

Just starting right away with the score: 7.9/10 There's not much to say about the song as it pretty much speaks for itself. Everybody's listened to it and so everybody knows how good it is. Course because it's so good, I've probably listened to it a hundred times by now and it has since lost it's flavor. It sits just under my "add it to my playlist" score only because it is on my playlist but I'm never actively searching for it and I'll usually listen about halfway to the good parts and then skip to the next song.

And memories. Thanks for that.
