Name:Maya Koyanagi
Age: 21
Sex:Female
Element: None
Appearance: Maya's taller than average, standing at 5'8" and weighing around 135 pounds. Her most prominent feature is her short, wavy, blood red hair. Next comes her grey eyes that people always compare to storm clouds for some reason. Maya has subtle, soft features, which contrasts her rather
large personality. She has a lithe, athletic build that's made for speed and she's surprisingly flexible despite her long limbs and torso. Her normal attire consists of clothes she can easily move around in and either running shoes or combat boots. Her favorite colors are black so most of her clothes reflect that.
Home: The Middle Ring
Profession:RSF academy trainee
Personality:Words to describe Maya? Confident, determined, ambitious would all apply nicely. Maya tries to do the best she possibly can at everything she does. She's desciplined like her father, meaning she has good self control and a level-head. She was raised in a strict household that taught her to strive for excellency in all situations, so she does just that. Maya believes that she can excel at anything she puts her heart into. This leads her to be very passionate about her work and dreams of the future.
Being raised to fight for what she wants has lead her to be ambitious and determined. It takes a lot to convince Maya to
not do something that she sets her heart on. The bad side of this is that she's stubborn, to the point where she hates being wrong. Maya is fiercely protective and loving towards those who she considers close to her, although getting close to her takes more effort than most are willing to give. Because of this, Maya's used to being alone, though she tells herself that she's perfectly okay with it and that she doesn't need a bunch of friends. Plus, she has other important things to focus on, like graduating from the RSF Academy. Most people are put off by her strong presence and demeanor, which isn't the norm. Most people are even more surprised to learn that she's the top of her class, which she worked very hard for she likes to add. Maya's brutally honest and gives zero fucks about what other people think of her. Basically, she doesn't like people, she likes accomplishing her goals.
Stance on Benders?: Being raised by a high-ranking RSF has instilled a natural ruthlessness towards benders. Up until the power plant explosion, benders weren't really a problem anymore, but Maya was taught to always stay vigilant. With the new outburst of benders, Maya is ready to do whatever it takes to keep her city safe.
History: Maya grew up in the Middle Ring of Ba Sing Se in a strict, upper-middle class home. Her first life lesson was this: You have to work for the things you want. It was blunt, but Maya loved it, breathed it, lived it. Some people said she was good at school, others said she was just book-smart, but no one would ever comment on her actual intelligence. Maybe she intimidated some people? Who knew, she never cared enough to ask. Ever since she was little, Maya steamrolled through life, through opposition. She was a bright kid and a studious one at that. She had a love for learning and knowledge, to which she thanked her parents for. Her mother was a doctor and her father was a high ranking officer in the RSF. Ever since she was little, Maya dreamed of being like her father, she really was a daddy's girl. Her Dad was always there for her, with his stern yet loving demeanor. He always had something to say or something new to teach her or an amazing story to tell.
Maya was in the top 10% of her class all through elementary, middle, and high school. She flourished in the academic setting, though her social life was almost non-existent. She preferred the
work, work, work, 'til you die lifestyle her father lived by. How else was she going to support her future family? Maya was never one to sit on the sidelines and let the others do the dirty work. Hell, she would volunteer to do the dirty work.
All her hard work paid off when she finally was accepted in the RSF Academy. She was once again in her natural habitat, and she excelled. Excelled to the point of envy for some. Maya lost count of the times she heard people talking behind her back or of how many dirty looks she got. Especially from the guys, who probably weren't used to a girl being better than they were. She's not one to hold grudges but she'd be lying if she said she didn't enjoy the feeling of being top of her class, much to her classmates dismay. Maya looked at it this way, if you can't keep up, then you don't deserve to be here anyways. Yes, she had natural talent, but for fuck's sake she worked
damn hard for everything she received. She just wanted to make her mother and father proud, and graduate so she could help the city be a safer place for everyone.
