Returning RPer here. Have an idea for a simple but detailed quest plot set in a fantasy world. Looking for max 4 players who are willing to tolerate a fairly beginner DM and also willing to lay down their lives for a quest that can end the War.

PLOT SUMMARY

The nation of Anora used to be a peaceful and beautiful place, until it was overrun by Gorlock the Necromancer. Wielding his Staff of Desecration, he has been raising an army of corpses and twisted creatures to cover the land in death and decay. Some say it is to take revenge on the land that once forsook him. Some say Gorlock is in fact the ancient king Aethondor the Fair, raised from the dead and corrupted by some dark power. But no matter his motives, he poses a grave peril to Anora. Already, thousands of Anorans die every month as the fell army approaches the capital.

But there is still hope. Legends speak of the White Lady - a mysterious and magical creature of boundless power and beauty that dwells deep within the Old Forest. She is said to possess a power beyond human comprehension - one that can obliterate the Necromancer. Already, adventurers of all stripes are converging on the little village of Riverwood bordering the Old Forest, hoping to be the hero of the day. So desperate are the times that the King has announced massive rewards including a large fiefdom for the adventurers who are successful.

So, do you have what it takes to write your name in the pages of Anoran history?

Nope, @kidjab. I would like it to be reasonably quick and simple. And thanks for the interest, @catchamber. We could just do this with the three of us.

@DungeonMaster That is kinda saddening but I would love to give it a whirl. I have never played a 3.5 game though as an aside

@catchamber

Ideally, I would like players to start at level 1. This will not be a leveled world - meaning monsters can be much more powerful than you, or sometimes so much weaker and loot can be just as varied.

@kidjab

I don't want to set any longterm goals for this RP mainly because I don't want to set high hopes for it. Having said that, I plan to weave a story in such a way that it can always continue should you feel the need to. But I would like there to be specific immediate quests that are, in themselves, a complete gameplay. And I wouldn't worry too much about familiarity with DnD 3.5. I myself am a beginner and continuously learning. We can help each other out.

@catchamber, forgot to answer your other questions.

Regarding ability scores - I am thinking you give me your character's backstory and I will give you ability scores. You can always ask for a reroll or fine tuning.

And I don't quite understand what you mean by content that is allowed. If you mean what specific parts of DnD3.5 are allowed, well, some parts. I will be using the same base classes and monsters, same base skills and feats, weapon damage, etc. But you are free to build your own nations/religions in your character's story.

But if, by content, you mean story content - well, there are really no limits except the adherence to the basic setting of the world.

He probably means what supplements are allowed to build characters. Oh, also interested.

Ah okay, @Polybius. I suggest the best thing would be to ask me what you want to use. As of now, the rulebook is the absolute basic 3.5 (if that makes any sense.)
