Matt laughed, somewhat quietly at least, at the response to the complaint against the food. Matt wasn't sure how he'd missed the electric chair before but it was certainly there now. What an odd chef, if he cared about his food so much why didn't he you know... make it a bit better? Perhaps it was a matter of materials rather than ability. Matt's musings were interrupted by talking behind him and he turned to see the table he'd thought previously empty was in fact rather populous! The boy who'd nearly gotten himself keelhauled by the chef was named Taiyo, the girl that sat next to him... not interested in manners seemingly and Lua was here too. Matt smiled at Lua's compliment, "Ah I don't know about that, it's just a matter of having good luck really. Something like Martin's deck is far more impressive and I admit, seems interesting to learn. But I'll stick with mine for now. By the way Taiyo my name is Matt, if you'd like to get your food from someone nicer in the future I'd recommend making friend with Rumi, the nice girl that talked to the angry chef. Archfiends are the big guys that make you pay with LP with their effects right?" Matt asked, to keep him talking. He seemed like a very shy person, but shy people tended to open up if you treated them right.

"It's a secret..." the girl replied solemnly.

She waited for a second, then broke out into a fit of giggling, bits of salad being spat onto the table in front of her in a manner a little unbecoming of a girl. "Nah. The deck I use is a little lesser known." She reached into her back and pulled out a pink, leather deck box. She opened it, revealing a fusion monster. The artwork depicted a young woman with long, flowing blue hair carrying an ornate staff, a storm forming at the head of the staff. The card's name was "Meteorological Mage Trowal", and it had a distinct aura about it. As she showed it to the others at the table, the cards Archfiend Cosmocrat and Lone savage space warrior seemed to become agitated, releasing energy, calling out to each other as well as the girl's card. Apparently, she was a Solar Legacy user.

"I'm Hyun Gu Leum," she stuck her hand out to Taiyou as if to shake his, "it's nice to meet all of you!"

So many new names to learn... Matt, Hyun Gu Leum and Murasaki Lua- and that Rumi person, someone with good food, he'd have to remember that. All fellow duelists. As soon as Lua gave him the go ahead, Taiyo grabbed the deck in one hand, ready to flip through the cards, but stopped as soon as the girl showed off her card, glancing over to it to read everything about it. As she extended her hand, he quickly placed his own hand in hers and shook, smiling anxiously as his handshake was rather shaky.

Looking at the card however, he noticed his deck's top card seemed to just... radiate a small amount of pressure. Placing Lua's deck down for now, he pulled up the most treasured card in his deck and deciding to talk in response to Matt and Lua.

"Y-yeah... the original Archfiends anyway. The cards I use are mostly the newer ones that don't cost life points... N-nice to meet you both by the way..."

In response to Hyun's action of showing her card, he showed Archfiend Cosmocrat to the group placing it face-up on the table.

"Like this one. I've never had to use it, but it's definitely my strongest card."

With his most treasured card face-up and in sight, Taiyo nudged his deck towards Lua for him to look through, almost like a trade as he once again picked up the other deck. As he began flicking through Lua's deck, a surprised look overcoming his face. It was a collection of extremely old-style cards, some of which he hadn't even seen in person due to the lack of them in anyone's decks without it relating to some sort of archetype. He stopped for a moment seeing Apple of Discord and Necromancer's Circle. He even took a very long pause at the Lone Savage Space Warrior as it came up. None of these cards he had seen before. He quickly placed the three cards down, and looked at Lua as he pulled out his small notebook.

"That's a very interesting deck. Not sure what to say about it... It'd be interesting to duel against."

While speaking he was quickly making up a poor sketch of Lua's face, while writing down the effects of the three cards he had that he had never seen.

"Hey, what house are you in Lua? I'm guessing Dark Magician..."

He then turned to the fusion holder, quickly sketching her on another page and recording her card as well.

"...And are you Neos house?"

The glows caught him off guard as he turned to see a glow very similar to that of Rumi's card before. He remembered them both having their card appear to them, perhaps these two had the same thing occur to them. Taking out his most powerful monster, the Lone savage space warrior, he placed it before the rather squishy lady that had shown her card to him and put it sideways so that it was just as easily visible by Taiyo as well.
"I happen to have a special card as well. Mine just happened to show up in my room one day. What about all of yours?" He muttered, hoping that he may get some insight into why their cards glowed and where they came from. Regardless, he did pick up the archfiend deck to occupy himself, flipping through slowly and precisely, reading each effect and attack and defense carefully and quickly before moving to the next. He found the deck a bit too scary for his liking and respectfully returned it to its owner. With that, he turned to the woman and put a handout, a small bit repulsed by her salad now scattering their table.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss. As I told him I am Murasaki Lua" He stated kindly, putting his hand out to shake yet again. He had his introduction down to a science like he practiced in the mirror every day. Whether she would shake his hand or not, he would quickly turn his attention to the speaking of a duel. A mix of fear and eagerness flooded over him and it showed in the way he scooted around in his seat, fidgeting to help clear him of insecurity.

"Yes, I am in the Dark magician House, are you as well? Perhaps we can duel together then?" He asked. This way he could save himself humiliation by keeping their duel private.

"That's right, oppa!" she replied in an upbeat fashion, spitting out a but of lettuce from her salad in the process. Unabashedly, she picked the piece off the table and put it back into her mouth to chew again.

"My Trowal, I also kinda just found. At the time I found her, spellcaster decks were super popular, and she just happened to be laying around. I thought she was super cute, so I knew I had to build a deck around her. Now I have a weather deck!" She reached her hand out, the same one she grabbed the pre-chewed food, to Lua returning a handshake.

"I'm kinda pooped from today, so maybe tomorrow, okay?"

Hyun Gu Leum hm? Matt winced as said Hyun spat out a piece of food, rather contentedly re-consuming it and using the same hand to offer a handshake, without even the pretense of cleaning it. Ah well, manners were a rather silly thing to judge someone by. Matt was more interested in the Apple Of Discord he'd seen. A card that looked like it belonged in his deck, he could admit that he rather wanted it as well. "Well perhaps Hyun isn't feeling a duel, but I'm rather interested in your Apple Of Discord. Any card of chance is a card I want, what say we duel for it? Naturally you can take a card from me if you win, or perhaps a favor if that's more to your liking." Matt said nonchalantly, he hadn't seen too much of Lua's deck before due to Martin's overwhelming pressure, but Matt didn't terribly mind not knowing what his opponent's cards were. It made things more exciting.

As Matt went on, Taiyo immediately scribbled down his interest of the Apple of Discord card in his notebook. 'Any card of chance?' So he must use anything relating to luck and bolstering it. He remembered using similar strategies when he used the original Archfiends. He would have to make a note of that.

As Lua declined his duel offer, Taiyo nodded in understanding. Now that the topic was about cards, he was less nervous. Cards were definitely something he knew a lot about.

"I didn't find my card. My brother gave it to me."

Taiyo picked up his Archfiend Cosmocrat and placed it back in his deck, before laying it close to him on the table.

"It's the main reason I run Archfiends. Using the gift my brother gave me I've won a lot of duels. It's the only thing I'm really good at. Though I'm not sure how I'll fare in this school. Hopefully well."

Picking up the card, Lua barely bats an eye as he bent across the table to place in front of his new friend. The card's golden and shiny apple on a thin branch. The card was beaten and slightly unkempt due to its age. Like all of his cards, they were old and because of so somewhat worn. He smiled and looked up to Matt, shuffling his deck and placing it back where it belonged.
"You can have it. I have access to plenty of cards, and this one is a bit dangerous. I only hope that you don't mess your chances up in a duel" He muttered in a genuinely kind voice, seeming to not hold much in terms of value to it. Yes, it was one of the cards his mother had filled his deck with, but he knew that many of his where.
"Take care of it at the least" He continued. With he pulled out his extra deck to look through and find some new cards to add to his deck. He picked on and random card and placed it in to be used later. With that he turned to the others and nodded.
"I suppose we could duel tomorrow, it'd be nice"

TURN 3

The night after the tournament had passed largely uneventfully, or at least uneventfully for the duel school. It was only the second night, difficult to know for certain. Students, who could have largely different schedules from one another, woke up at drastically different times, and had every reason to. Breakfast in the cafeteria was the same as it was the previous day. That is, it was a more savory Japanese breakfast, the food service machines being overseen by the hulking, monstrous lunch man from the previous night, grimacing at the students and teachers as well, making sure they didn't take much more than their fair share of food.

Classes began at roughly six in the morning for those students who decided to have it that early. Morning classes tended to be the least full. For first years, there were two going on at the time: Damage Calculations, which taught the importance of lifepoints going into the basics of burn strategies; and Extra Deck Construction 101, which was exactly what it sounded like. Some students were out jogging in the morning, others having early morning practice duels, or fixing their duel runners. The mini-mall area was largely empty, most of the shops not opening until 9. It was a little inconvenient, though just a little. The convenience store was, of course, still open. It was open 24/7, and sold donuts and coffee for those who didn't want anything at the cafeteria or didn't want to wait in line there. Likewise, others who did not have class that morning could have simply been sleeping in- always an option.

Regardless of the students' course of action, however, the normal flow of school life was interrupted abruptly, as every duel disk lit up with an important and mandatory announcement. This one not from the school, but from Kaiba Corp. Dressed in a white business suit and his signature necklace, the CEO of Kaiba Corporation stared at every single duelist through a small projection on each duel disk. He swept his black hair out of his face and began to speak. A name tag was written at the bottom left corner for those who didn't know the face of the CEO: Mokuba Kaiba, who had taken control of the company after the mysterious disappearance of his older brother.

A smile spread across his face. "Good morning duelists. This is the President of Kaiba corp with a new announcement in regards to a new type of summoning and a change in mechanics that comes with it!" he started, the CEO's voice echoing through the school.

Displayed on the screen was what was very obviously the new shape of the board. Five monster zones and five spell/trap zones to each player. The graveyard, field spell zone, extra deck, and main deck remain untouched, however, pendulum zones appeared to have gone missing. Between the two player's fields, two extra zones which were highlighted for the sake of presentation.

"The first change, if I can direct you to it, is the addition of a new type of zone! The Extra Monster Zone! All monsters summoned from the extra are to be special summoned into these Extra Monster Zones! The extra monster zone does not exist in games where extra deck summoning is used. Once a monster is special summoned from the extra deck, however, both extra monster zones become available! Furthermore, a player can only have one Extra Monster Zone at a time! So please do be careful with what monsters you summon from your extra deck and when. Pendulum Zones have also been moved around! Instead of being extra spell zones, they have been consolidated to the normal spell and trap zone. When a pendulum monster is activated as a spell card, it will go to either the far right or the far left spell or trap zone. That zone it's in becomes a pendulum zone."

The picture of a blue bordered card appeared on the screen, the name reading "Link Spider". Most peculiar about it was that it had no stars to determine level, but several triangles surrounding its portrait.

"Now, behold! This is a link monster!" he declared. "As you can see, this monster has no level and no rank. What's more, is it also has no defense points! A link monster cannot exist in defense position. Cards such as Book of Moon cannot change the battle position of these new monsters! Like Synchro and Xyz, Link Summoning uses monsters that are on the field! In the case of this card, Link Spider, I require one normal monster! By sending that monster to the graveyard, I can Link Summon Link Spider." he explained. Appearing on the stronger link monster, Feel Electric Link Dragon.

"In the case of a stronger monster, such as Link 2 Feel Electric Link Dragon, I require two link materials which can be two monsters. However, a link monster can also be used to satisfy these conditions, becoming the link materials necessary equal to its own link number!" he continued.

"You'll also notice these!" the CEO pointed at the triangles. "These are called Link Markers! A monster with a link marker is considered a Link Source, and any monsters the Link Marker points to is considered to be in a linked state! In addition to the Extra Monster Zone, monsters from the extra deck can be special summoned into a linked state! Two Link Monsters can point to each other with their link markers as well! This is called a mutual link. By having a chain of mutual links leading to the other Extra Monster Zone, a player can summon to both Extra Monster Zones! This is called an Extra Link!"

"Now you're wondering. Where can I get a Link Monster? Well, students of Saotome Duel Institute," the CEO acknowledged the school in an eerie fashion, "starting today, you will have guests going to your school. These guests are veteran duelists, hand chosen by the Kaiba Corporation to test the new mechanics. At random, they will choose random students and challenge them to a duel. If you win, they are obligated to give you a Link Monster! It's that simple!"

"This concludes the introduction of the new mechanics effective..." he stared at his watch... "Now! Don't worry about updates. The updates for these new mechanics have already been uploaded to each of your duel disks!" The hologram shut out, and everybody not currently in a duel was sent to an updating screen.

As Taiyo had risen that morning, he made sure his Duel Disk was fully charged and deck fully formatted. Each class was interesting, but nothing he hadn't learnt himself before. Still, he made notes in his notebooks, as a reminder was always appreciated in his eyes. As the day went by, he was wondering if anything as major as the first day would happen, and just as he began to accept the fact today just wouldn't be as interesting...

His duel disk screen lit up.

...

"-dates for these new mechanics have already been uploaded to each of your duel disks!"

After the message was played, Taiyo was left speechless. He had heard that a new version of Duel Monster was in development, but he didn't expect it to come out so soon. The existence of Link Monsters was new to him, and due to his reliance on the extra deck, he would probably need to incorporate them into his play style. But the fact that veteran duelists would be arriving at the premise excited him more. The idea of dueling someone with far more experience would definitely help him learn.

He'd be sure to keep a lookout for anyone on campus who looked like a visitor.

Aya was not having a good day.

She'd woken up to a particularly bad dream when four sets of dragons seemed to be poised to eat her whole, gnashing and tearing at her body like cooked bacon. She'd only managed to wake up when she'd fallen out of her bed and onto the floor, which was an impressive feat, especially from the top bunk. She felt drained and tired, with aches and pains all over her body in the strangest of areas, and her hair was a mess. Even more then usual, it had managed to swallow up several combs and brushes over the years, but today it had decided to become an unruly monster, twisting and tangling harder then an Ultimaya Sylvians player.

Speaking of Ultimaya Sylvians, there was that whole announcement. She'd stared at it with goggle-eyed amazement, barely believing the words being spoken by the kaibacorp CEO on her screens. This was a massive shakeup. Every single Extra-deck focused archetype in existance was suddenly nearly dead without these link monster things. She took a glance at her schedule. Double Extra Deck Constructions 101, which was good as she was gonna need it.

Aya finished up her bowl, and immediately went to leave the cafeteria, pronto. If that last thing was true, Aya was gonna be the first to know about them. She wanted to get her mitts on some of these linky monsters. By her reckoning, if she could get three of the things, easily summon them into her deck... then she could make some very interesting and probably unintended things to happen.

"Hey! Dweeb!" A rash voice came calling out to Taiyou. "You're that other guy who uses archfiends right!? RIGHT!? Well, I'm Akaza Tsunozuka! Number one prospect of this school's hardest gang: The Hateocracy!" he introduced himself, swaggering brashly toward Taiyou. The boy wore a buzzed hair cut, a medical face mask, and an unbuttoned trench coat. The collar was popped, as standard fare for characters of the series, and the coat was actually worn on his shoulders, arms not in the sleeves, giving the impression that the boy walked around like a machamp for most of the day, at least while he had his coat on. Nevertheless, he gave off an air of hostility, not that one couldn't tell just by the way he presented himself.

"Yeah! You! With the dorky hair! Yeah, I'm talking to you! I saw you yesterday, thought you'd be more of a challenge! Then, before I could even beat you down, you got knocked out! And that makes me mad!" He explained. "EUAGH!" he shouted.

"Well, me and my ace monster, Archfiend Reverse!" he produced the card from under his jacket, showing it off to Taiyou. As he showed off the card, it let off a familiar glow; it was the same glow as was let off by the card the girl he had met the night before had.

@The book of bad juju

Immediately after Aya left the cafeteria, two blurs passed in front of her. Appearing again, two elderly men in elegant Chinese robes. Wrinkles and spots on their skin gave away their old age, though they seemed very energetic in spite of this. One man had the word "迷" on his head, where the other had the word "宮".

"We are the brothers," they said in unison.
"Mei!" the first brother declared.
"Kyu!" introduced the other.
"And today we are-"
"-to duel with you!"

They struck fighting poses before somersaulting back, revealing their duel disks.

"If we brothers you defeat-"
"-this monster is yours."

"Our treat", they announced in tandem, each holding the bottom corner of a card with a blue-background, and it was not a ritual monster.

Lua had woken extremely early to properly clean up and dress. He seemed to be a morning person as he was almost fully awake post shower. He spent the remainder of his time in as many classes as he could, having signed up for multiple. He had just exited one that had taught him he had made a rather worthless extra deck when he suddenly felt his duel disk vibrate slightly. Picking it up just as the screen showed the president of Kaibacorp. he was intrigued to find that there was a game changing update to the game. Immediately his fear went to his previous combatant, Martin. The D/D/D deck required a lot of different summoning types, and with pendulums and having another category for cards, his deck may be ruined for good. The change did not have much of a change on Lua's deck, for the most part, his deck would always be the same, but many others would have to change their decks. With the announcement over, he jumped up and eagerly left to find someone to duel. He really wanted to try out these new cards, they sounded amazing!

Matt glanced at his ringing duel disk with mild curiosity. It really was wonderfully convenient. The annoucment was quite interesting, it seemed this would shake things up considerably, not for him of course but he could imagine those folks who used the extra deck and those pendulum monsters would have to get used to these changes. Matt shrugged and began looking for Lua to follow up on his duel request. He'd held off on the duel on account of having already gone through the tournament but today nothing really was going on except for classes and those random people that were supposed to show up.

Carnel did what he could to grow more accustomed to his new home, going through his usual routines of getting ready for the day. He warmed himself up before jogging a few laps, getting his morning exercise in for the day. When he was done, he got ready to go get breakfast at the cafeteria. Ignoring the somewhat menacing appearance of the lunch man, Carnel approved of the quality of the meal he had received and found a spot to sit down and eat.

As he was eating, his Duel Disk suddenly lit up. Carnel, surprised, immediately turned to see what was going on. What was currently being shown was the image of Mokuba Kaiba, the CEO of Kaiba Corporation, and the sudden announcement of the new Link Summon mechanic completely caught Carnel off guard. Carnel took a couple moments to think about the new information, and found that he rather liked the new development. The majority of his decks never had a need for an Extra Deck, so he realized that he found himself with an advantage over others who relied on the Extra Deck for their main powerhouse monsters. Granted, the advantage would not last as people would eventually adapt to the new rules, so Carnel would make as much use of it as he could. The idea of the new Link Monsters was quite interesting as well, making Carnel wonder how well he could use them.

Finishing up the last of his breakfast, Carnel gathered his things and readied his Duel Disk. Carnel hoped to be one of the chosen for this new event. The idea of obtaining a Link Monster was a fascinating one, never mind one before most others could, and he did not intend to let it pass.

The natural acoustics of the area were for the most part sinister with the fact that it flaunted so little noise. Perhaps a little gust of wind would come through, and the insects would make their hisses and chirps, however for the most part it was quiet.

Of course this was due to the fact that The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell was in his Unholy Sanctuary. After all he had much work to accomplish here in one of the many inconspicuous and barren barn-houses that were the sole structures, if the fledgling convoy of the school bus and pick-up truck did not count, that remained in these withered rice fields. Perhaps when the time was right, The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell would check his Private Investigator Office, or as some would call it a 'dorm room', to see if any students had left any notes pleading for the services of the Damned Detective. But his freelance work would have to come second to his primary work. And boy did The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell had much to do in his Demonic Diocese.

Currently the Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell was inside one of those barn buildings on his territory. The structure was empty and only had The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell, the Pick-Up Truck which contained the scavenged pieces of the robotic officer and the Mechanic. What remained somewhat possibly fixable for the Duel Rider was located in another building in the Unholy Sanctuary. Fyodor stood next to the Pick-up that formerly belonged to the Mechanic, who was still tied up to the ladder and still would remain in that hostage situation until his morale improved and swore his eternal loyalty to both Konstantinovich and the Dark Prince.

And the mechanic had to mean it.

With a slow and steady swagger The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell stepped closer towards the mechanic. Curling his left hand into a fist Fyodor brought it up and rested it against his helmet. "Mechanic." The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell stated in address, "I will free you from the shackles of the divine. Yet you do you not make way for the Shepard of Fire. You will be most useful once you learn the ways."

He shook his head as he moved his left hand over his heart. Banging at his chest, The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell became more bombastic in his motions as he returned to speaking and began sermonizing. "Look at what has happened to you when you gave your loyalty to the Angels! HAS EVEN A SINGLE ONE NOTICED THAT YOU HAVE GONE MISSING!?" Fyodor mockingly performed large gestures of moving his head around as he extended out his arms far and wide. "Not a soul! Not even a peep. Face the fact that you were nothing before my neophyte captured you and brought you to me. It was part of His Infernal Will you know. He wanted to bring you to me; and so he made it so you did not fall out of that Pick-Up Truck when it went out of control. And do you know why he brought you to me?"

The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell walked directly next to the Mechanic and began to slowly stroke at his right cheek. "He knows you're special. I know you are special as well. Your skills, they were being wasted slaving away at this Academy. You were tasked with things that were too easy for your skillset, trust me I know. I have seen the contents of your toolbox and yes, while they are rather crude and on the whole unimpressive, I see the untapped nature yearning in your soul. But I can't do anything with you yet."

Fyodor shook his head as he gently patted the Mechanic's shoulder, "And that is because you refuse to open your soul to me and the Lord of the Flies. We simply want what is best for you; what you were meant to be. And I will cleanse the filth the Angels left upon your soul as I baptize in the flames of Hell. You just need to accept your destiny and stop struggling against it. I shall free you."

With that The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell walked away from the Mechanic and made his way to the pick-up truck. The bed of the truck was opened fully and had the scavenged parts of the officer in place there. Fyodor picked out a tool as he stared down at the wrecked scrap and began to work. "You shall be the first of many. A cyborg, well okay I know you are a robot but cyborg sounds cooler, who shall roam the world under my complete obedience. You will walk the path of Hell and help bring forth the Empire of Hell on Earth. BWAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" cackled out Konstantinovich as he took the tools and began to work on reconstructing the robot into the state he needed it.

But alas his work was interrupted as his duel disk activated and brought forth the lecture from President Mokuba. Underneath the helmet of The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell there was surely an expression to be had. But this was just between him and the Devil.

"So..." Fyodor mused as he placed down the tool and walked a bit away from the Pick-up. "Visitors."

The Ghoulish Rider - Traveler of the Highway of Hell threw his arms up to the sky as his body began twitching. "My message will spread even further and faster! Satan has bestowed me another unique opportunity." he spoke, each word dripping with glee as he began rubbing his arms over his torso. After a long period of that particular gesture he raised his right fist into the air. "HAIL SATAN! HAIL SATAN! HAIL SATAN!"

The harsh voice made Taiyo flinch, turning towards the imposing figure. Another student, albeit much more aggressive, that had challenged him to a duel. With Archfiends.

Normally Taiyo would want to decline, so that he could inspect his opponent's play-style and create a counter strategy. But he knew Archfiends. He knew them well. But he had never heard of this Archfiend Reverse. An archfiend card and a Synchro monster no less.

He wanted it.

But he would not duel for cards so easily. Perhaps his opponent was better than him, he didn't yet know. But there was only one way to find out.

More confidently than usual, Taiyo slot his unchanged deck into his duel disk, holding it high.

"I assume you're challenging me then... I accept Akaza Tsunozuka. Prepare to duel!" Taiyo said without a hint of the normal anxiety he displayed. All of his nervousness washed away at the very thought of dueling someone with the same archetype. He was calm, determined, and even feeling a tinge of competitiveness. He wanted to win. He was going to win.

A crowd of people gathered around what appeared to be two duelists dueling. Though really, it was obvious by the holographic monsters that were brawling with one another. Several mushroom-like houses sprung up around the area, clearly the effect of a Field Spell.

"Ojama King, attack his life points directly!" a voice called. Shortly following a dramatic explosion, the holograms dissipated. In the middle of the crowd was a young man, obviously a student, shaking hands with an apparently older gentleman. The older man had large, spikey hair- a style that was not uncommon. He had on a black jacket, fully buttoned up, collar done neatly. Underneath the jacket was a black suit. At a glance, it was clear who this person was.

For several years, Manjoume Jun had been a top level professional duelist. However, seven years into his career, he had simply stopped competing. In spite of his young age, he had retired, and when asked for what reason, he simply responded he wanted to focus on his family, though his personal life never came to the forefront. Judging by the ring on his finger, however, it was safe to say he was married to someone.

The man looked to Carnel though really just picking someone out of the crowd. "Hey you" hey called Carnel. In his index finger, he twirled around a blue card- a link monster. "You look pretty strong. If you prove yourself right here, I'll let you have this card."

Tsunozuka's duel disk was black with red stripes. The screen lit up, the word DUEL flashing on it, as the disk proper materialized out of solid light. "Huh." he remarked, as what materialized as his duel disk came out in the default angular shape with the default black fill and white border.

"Whatever. I think I'll let you go first." he offered.

He popped his deck into the disk, the deck shuffled by the disk before dispensing five cards for Tsunozuka to use. He smirked as if he knew how good his hand was.

Rumi was up early and simply took the classes she thought she needed at the time and did her usual routine of keeping up with her hobby of making food with her own little oven in the middle of baking she got the sudden announcement she at first seemed uninterested but upon hearing the mention of visitors she instinctively asked the screen "When? Where? I need to get my snacks ready!" and shortly declared she was going to make some snacks for the visitors "This is a natural thing to do when you get visitors after all!" Rumi said to herself after putting the cookies she just baked in a bag once again and ran off to find her friends to share her morning bakings.

unfortunately, she couldn't find any of them and promptly looked around for other people instead and as expected tripped over her own feet while running around the campus

Lua pulled up his small backpack that he had come to find was mostly unneeded in this school. For the most part all he did was take notes. As he struggled to get out of the class as others pushed and shoved their way out, Lua noticed a familiar face. Using his size to bob and weave through the crowd to meet with none other than Matt, Lua was physically expressing his glee based on the way he moved and bounced when he confirmed it was him. Immediately he spoke out of excitement, pointing to his duel disk that already had his deck in it so that he may battle anyone with a link summoning monster.
"Did you see the announcement! We need to go find some people with link summons! I bet my brothers already have some, I might be able to catch up with them now!" He blurted out with eagerness. It was then that he remembered what he had asked last night. Shaking his head he stepped a bit closer.
"Oh yeah! Are we still going to duel?"
