suddenly getting the urge to tie wrap my chain knives around someone's ankles, push them off a cliff and say "Thank you for flying Air Night."

too bad that would be breaking lore. Airplanes don't exist.

Since people are dropping out, I wanted to put up another CS.

Name: Maria Caroline Miller
Appearance:

Bio: Maria belongs to a wealthy family, her father being involved in politics. Growing up, her mother always told her that it was the woman's duty to protect the man she chooses to marry, not serve him. She held onto her belief that in every household the man's wife served as his shield, and it was her greatest wish to be able to do the same. Her desire to protect is what drew her spirit, Titanus, to her on her 18th birthday, and soon brought her to a position in the Library.
Branch: Mercenary

Holder: Rook
Spirit: Titanus

Titanus is very passive, almost never taking part in conversations. Some people doubt if he can even speak, since the only time he responds is when somebody he respects asks him a question directly. In fact, the only person he currently talks with is Maria.

Weapons/Spells:

Titanic Armor: Maria summons a suit of armor made from the same material as Titanus' fullplate, which has the mysterious property of attracting enemy attention. While she wears it, she gains a +1 bonus to her provoke skill.
[Active] Titanic Defense: Maria replaces her armor with Titanus' own, turning her into an impregnable fortress of steel. The armor protects her from any physical damage, but greatly reduces her mobility. Duration 4, CD 20.
Titanic Shield: Maria summons Titanus' shield, which has the same properties as his armor. Any physical blow that contacts the shield is turned away, and the impact behind the shield becomes negligable.
[Active] Titanic Repulsion: Titanus' shield will now reflect the blows that impact it back at the source, instead of simply nullifying them. Duration 5, CD 10.
Titanic Crystal: Maria summons a crystal shield that absorbs any harmful magic directed at it. Each spell it blocks lights up one of the 12 crystal sections that make up the shield, and when 3 or more are filled Maria can release a shock wave from the shield, consuming the magic to force anyone in front of the shield backwards, as if she had Shoved them. (Every 3 crystals lit simulates 1 level of Shove)
[Active] Titanic Refraction: Instead of a shockwave, Maria can release the magic stored in the shield in it's original form, casting the spell meant for her at whomever she chooses. The spell is unchanged (If it was set to track her, it will still track her. If it couldn't effect the caster, it still won't.), but she releases it in the direction the shield is facing. Duration 1, CD 5+ CD of the spells released, if any. Only one spell in every set of three crystals can be cast.

Skills:

Provoke 3
Traction 2
Painkiller 1
Stomp 1

Stats:

  • POW 11

  • SPI 4

  • AGI 5

A note for your active skills, Kestrel brought a lot of weight on me when I made a character who has an active ability to call a dragon with double of his stat and only accepted it because the dragon would be around for 3 rounds, have chance of going on a rampage on my character and a total cooldown of once in a mission. So, your active increasing your char's ability by a 10 multiplier might be stretching it a bit.

The sword only has a duration of five posts, and a twenty post cooldown. Besites, it doesnt raise her POW, only the force of her blows specifically, and only when she hits with the sword. She can still be disarmed, or the sword could be unusable(like in a hallway or a cave). Remember that as powerful as the sword is, it's absolutely MASSIVE, which means she has to have a lot of free space to swing it.

I'm not dropping out. These characters are like two years old, no way I'm abandoning them ever. I have two other RPs I'm still keeping up with them. I only just noticed my mission getting updated a few days ago so give me a bit of time to get back into them.

Yeah, those multipliers are bloody insane. According to the description, you get like a defence of 110 POW, which would make you absolutely invulnerable (at all times it's worn) against anything but magic for... Well, probably the duration of the entire RP. In addition to that you have a 33 POW attack, which is silly because at this stage it would fell everything in a single hit and then some. And that's not even counting the actives. So yeah ;p

5 posts worth of killing everyone.

    She can still be disarmed,

Which would need someone with higher POW than she is, I would think.

At 11 POW, even without the extra boost your char get, everything else give away. No space to swing? Hell, her swing would make a free space.

The reason I usually have people go for multipliers like 1.2 or 1.5 with hefty drawbacks (or in alpha's case 2 plus suicide gamble,) is because that keeps the base stats meaningful. If everything had a multiplier of 3 by default, why wouldn't we just triple everyone's stats and have the same thing with less math? Or the meaning of a stat defensively would have to be worth more than offensively. Right now, if both a defending and attacking party have a have a POW of 15, the relative amount of damage inflicted would be the same as if they both had 1 POW. So even at equal POW your weapons are quite deadly, because well, it's a sword, and swords are pretty good at killing. Or a massive sword that can be wielded like a normal one.

Maybe you should give guidelines on stat multipliers on abilities. For example: 1-1.5 = Normal strength, fast cooldown and little consequences. 1.5-2 = powerful effects, long cooldown or heavy consequences. 2+ = extremely powerful, once per mission or lethal consequences. Something like that, but more detailed? Right now every player has to go through the process of finding the correct numbers when creating their characters.

The sword isn't as great as you think. Let's delve into some science here.

First, the sword has far greater size, but equal mass to her bastard sword, meaning that leverage applied to the base (Where someone would strike to disarm you) has a far greater effect than a sword of equal size and relative weight, or even of her original sword's size and weight. So in fact the very property that allows her to wield it easily makes it easier to knock out of her hand (Let's say the equivilent of knocking a normal sword out of a normal person's hand.)

Second, the striking bonus only applies to blows, meaning the sword must have full momentum for the multiplier to take effect. If she misses, which is all too likely when facing an opponent with high AGI, someone can easily trap the sword by simply stepping on it, and she'd have to rely on her own unmodified, albeit still considerable strength.

Thirdly, even with her strength and the multiplier, it is unlikely that she would be able to easily swing the sword with impunity wherever she is. Underground, in buildings, or even in a dense forest, the sheer amount of material she would have to cut through to swing the blade would slow it down until the modifier was no longer active, making it an effective way to lose her weapon.

Also, even though I doubt you take it into consideration, Maria is unlikely to use that particular active. She much prefers to stay on the defensive, where she is strongest, than go on an all out attack. Her sword is her last choice, not her first. If you've played FF13, think of Maria as a Sentinel.
