Cole isn't an 'asshole' per se, but that's probably a common view of him from the outside. He has an antipathy for socializing, and is as far as you can get from a people person. Simply put, Cole does what he wants, when he wants, and does not care much for what others may think of it. Out of his own personal choice he keeps very few people close to him, only keeping a handful of friends - despite this he still seems to command a certain level of respect from many of his peers - most likely out of fear. He tends to clash heads with a great deal of people, a result of his standoffish, brutally honest and often insensitive way of talking paired with his short temper and history of getting in to rough situations. Throughout high school he was that kid sat at the back of the class who nobody wanted to make eye contact with out of fear they would be targeted. Contrary to popular belief, however, Cole is no 'bully', and has never really initiated any fights, he is just
extremely easy to get a rise out of and does not give second chances.
Really, Cole has two different sides to him - the side he puts out to the rest of the world; the quiet, dangerous, "don't cross me or I'll stab you" persona, and the side of him that he shares with the few people he trusts enough to call friends. If he cares about someone, he can show a different side, a more fragile, humorous and light-hearted side. His loyalty, when earned, is by no means meager. After a history of letting his guard down and being subsequently fucked over, however, Cole is reluctant to befriend new people. He has quite a distaste for arrogance and ignorance, and is not afraid to speak up about it.
Standing at a fairly imposing 6'1, Cole is wide shouldered and athletic, spending many of his days in solitude keeping himself in good shape. He has short cropped dark-brown hair that is typically slightly shorter on the sides than the top. He usually keeps clean shaven but grows stubble at the rate of most adult men. He is brown eyed and has a neutral Caucasian skin tone. Cole's dress sense isn't particularly stand-out, opting for simple shirts and jeans most of the time, typically darker in shade.

sCole has an affinity with the flow of time. Whilst he cannot 'time travel', as it were, he has regularly experienced bizarre shifts and alterations in the flow of time seemingly beyond his control. He often experiences unintended and often fairly inconvenient 'visions' - which are not truly visions, rather Cole witnessing moments in the future or past - these abilities being known as precognition and retrocognition. Although potentially very useful, Cole has very little control over these 'flashbacks' and 'flashforwards' meaning they rarely make much sense to him and can sometimes be completely useless.
Cole also finds time to pass differently depending on the circumstances. If his emotions are heightened things can often seem to happen in fluctuating speeds, meaning his reactions are dulled and he is put at a weakness. However, if he is more tranquil in mind, he is almost given control over how time flows around him, and is given much more time to dictate his actions. He has in no way honed this ability, however, and it rarely is much use to him.

s1. Stubborn to strangers, easily manipulated by friends
Cole does not trust easy, and approaches most situations with caution, putting very little value on the word of someone who he does not trust. That being said, his willingness to trust those he cares about is almost the polar opposite, meaning that Cole completely lets his guard down when it comes to those he trusts - whilst this could be seen as a positive, it is also easily exploited.
2. Tough
Ever since he was a kid, Cole could take a hit. It's part of his nature. When it comes to street brawls, Cole is coming out on top, knowing exactly how to land his hits and not being too harshly effected by incoming pain.
3. Street Smart
Cole isn't unintelligent by any means, in fact he is probably quite a lot smarter than you'd assume from the outside. But he doesn't know any of Shakespeare's sonnets and he can't do quadratic equations. When it comes to common sense, and surviving out on the street, however, he has that down to a T.
4. Quick to anger / Rash
Not only is Cole extremely stubborn, he can be majorly aggressive and reactive. If someone knows how to push his buttons, it won't be long before he ends up starting something serious. When he gets pissed off he also makes dumb decisions, often putting his own head on the line - hence how he ended up running in to problems with the law a couple of times.
Hailing from a working class area of Long Beach, CA., Francis - or Cole, as everyone called him aside from his grandparents, had quite the mixed experience of childhood. The first few years of his existence were almost blissful - he was young, eager to explore and amazed by the world, and his family was stable. By family, it was really just him and his mother - who worked hard to earn enough to look after him with the support of her parents in Los Angeles. She was, however, a very damaged woman who often struggled in silence. It was not until he was six that Cole was a victim of his mother's mental disorders. Cole never knew his father, so he had nobody to stand up for him during his mother's episodes, would often mistreat Cole, mostly verbally - but every now and then, a few punches would fly his way. This continued for almost five years until he was ten, when Cole's mother broke his arm after pushing him down a flight of stairs during one of her breakdowns.
After a long-lived investigation involving many social workers, Cole was sent to live with his grandparents, where he remained for the rest of his years in education. By this point, Cole had already transitioned from being a light-hearted, fun loving young boy in to somewhat of an outcast. He tended to intimidate his peers and found it hard to make friends - something that he initially hated, but, as years passed and he became a teenager, no longer concerned him.
During his mid teens Cole showed no signs of straying from his wayward path. Despite the love and support his grandparents provided, and the chances they gave him, Cole continued down this path. Drugs, alcohol and women became a thing, and Cole got majorly involved with all that, making quite a few enemies down the way. A lot more enemies than friends, that's for sure. It was during these years that Cole began to experience the strange bursts in time that still affect him to this day. If anything, his "gift" was more of an inconvenience and he could rarely piece together what it meant, quite often putting it off as hallucination.
At the age of 18, in Cole's last year of High School, Cole's life began to truly fall apart. After a clash of personalities between himself and a rather snobbish teacher at his school, Cole physically lashed out at the teacher in question. Despite the teacher allegedly mocking Cole's mother for being a mental patient, it was Cole who ended up taking the entirety of the blame, being both kicked out of his High School and arrested. Although he was not given jail time, he lost his granparents' support and was left to fend for himself.
By 19, Cole was alone in LA with very little going for him, working odd jobs and hanging out with the wrong crowd completely, not having spoke to his grandparents in months. He experienced more and more bizarre side-effects of his abilities, eventually discovering certain ways to apply them usefully. However, before he could really test them out,
this shit happened.
