Occupation: Professional exorcist and cleanser

Personality: He's a bit of a strange little guy. Lucas is very peculiar about who he interacts with and how. He doesn't like crowds, being photographed, cameras, or being asked questions. Any of these things will have him become frustrated and he'll probably storm off in a huff. He can be a bit childish. If irritated, he will quickly resort to lashing out physically to get his point across. Seeing as he can't yell, one might think that this is his alternative.

If one gets on his good side, he's typically a mild, friendly man. Once he decides he trusts someone, he doesn't seem as stand offish anymore.

Appearance: Lucas can easily be described as a bean pole: tall and lanky. He's been told often that he's too thin and needs to gain weight. Lucas has a PEG tube that sticks out of his abdominal wall; it's basically a port straight to his stomach where liquid food and nutrition can be pumped. Due to the all liquid diet, he stays just above underweight.

He's pretty unassuming looking: hidden under oversized clothes with his face tucked into a scarf. He has a head of messy black hair, usually worn short due to his tendency to not take care of it. He has a natural olive tone of his skin, hinting at a possible Italian heritage. His eyes tend to catch people's attention. Some say he has the eyes of a feral animal, dark and a bit wild. Others say they see the eyes of a sad hound dog. Either way, his eyes are dark brown, the color almost indistinguishable from his pupils.

Lucas's most predominant feature by far is his face. He sort of doesn't have one. While his forehead and eyes appear normal, Lucas's face below the bridge of his nose is malformed. His nose appears to be incomplete, like someone cut the fleshy end off of it. And he completely lacks a mouth. His chin is narrow and pointed, his features almost elfish in appearance. If not for the deformities of his face, Lucas might be considered handsome.

Other:

Lucas has a very unique skill set. He has a 'gift'. Lucas can draw energy from surrounding sources, fire, sunlight, heat, electricity, and produce his own light. This light burns monsters that get too close to it, namely demons and vampires. While his light in ineffective towards werewolves, witches, and most other foul creatures, most are unable to touch his skin as if it were made of silver.

His gift of light is accompanied by an ability to defeat demons in a way that even the most experienced of priests have yet to figure out. When he comes into contact with the creatures, he seems to absorb them. If he is performing an exorcism, he draws the demon from the victim and into himself. This usually results in a short inner battle before the demon is completely eradicated. So far, Lucas himself has never been possessed.

weaknesses: Because of his deformity, Lucas is mute.

When tackling more powerful demons, there is a chance that they may escape, weakened, rather than be destroyed. After dealing with demons of high power, Lucas usually has to take time to recover.

Biography:

Where Lucas came from isn't entirely clear. He showed up in LA during a string of violent possessions at the hands of demons. He had been only just a boy, no older than 9, when he proved his worth by banishing demons that even the most experienced priests couldn't. The boy was a gifted exorcist.

It didn't take long for a local priest to take the young boy in. He allowed Lucas to live at the church, very interested by the boy and his mysterious heritage. Even as he has grown, not much is known of how Lucas came to be, or even what exactly he is. It seems to be a touchy subject, and he becomes impatient and irritable if asked about it. He, himself, doesn't even seem to know the entire story.

Lucas has remained at the church, being called on for particularly difficult demon cases. Some people have come to avoid taking his help, as the process in which he removes demons from their victims seems to have a 10% chance of killing the victim. While these deaths seem completely accidental, some the patrons of the church and demonology world have labeled the strange man as a murderer.

Supporting Characters:

Father Walter: The priest that serves as Lucas's main caregiver. He watches over the odd ward and allows him to live at the church for free. Father Walter is in his middle ages, and has been an exorcist for many years now. Priests of his experience level are becoming a rare breed. As the years go by, less and less people believe in possession, and mental illness tends to be blamed for the culprit. He took Lucas in because he saw the boy as a valuable asset, and he didn't want him to fall into the wrong hands.

See No Evil: He is a man around Lucas's age, cleverly named Seymour. He, like Lucas, is deformed. He has no eyes. Seymour also has powers similar to Lucas. He lives in Louisiana and is sort of a penpal to Lucas after having heard about him from an acquaintance. It's still yet to be discovered if there is a third "Hear No Evil".

Name: Priscilla Brown

Age: (25/27)

Species: Mage

Appearance: Priscilla is a brown-skinned woman of average height who prefers to wear a white shirt covered with a Navajo jacket, as well as tough denim trousers and tall leather boots. Smooth-skinned and smooth-faced, there is an intensity to her hazel eyes that is accentuated by her long brown hair, which is bunched up underneath a cowboy hat most of the time. Around her neck is a crucifix, something that is kept close to her heart underneath the shirt. In the more upper-class parts of the city, she prefers to wear the surplice of a female Episcopalian priest.

Personality: Priscilla is someone who, despite her allegiance to the Traditions, has made a concious decision to abandon the fight against the Technocracy and instead focus on the Nephandi; this is reflective of a burgeoning disillusion with Mage Society and the Ascension War as a whole. Where once she had fought to create a reality where her beliefs were right, now she is tired and suspicious, yet at the same time, dedicated to the much-neglected Sleepers of the world. As a pastor of The One and a Mage, she sees her duties to 'her flock' as paramount now, and her remaining ties to the Chorus are only because they still provide much needed aid. So, basically, a disillusioned veteran of the Ascension War who just wants to focus on the real threat.

Biography: Priscilla was born in San Francisco, to a family of Native Americans who had embraced the ‘mainstream’ culture, and, thanks to a successful law firm, had become rich. They had also converted to the Episcopalian Church at that time. A scholarly young woman, Priscilla differed from her also-learned peers by deciding to take advantage of the new opportunities offered for women’s ordination to study theology and divinity. When asked why by her friends, Priscilla’s response was that “the doors of change need to be entered as well as opened.”

It was when officiating her first church service that she Awoke, and became a Mage. The Celestial Chorus found her, and she was inducted into their ranks, and was taught that all Gods were actually emanations of The One. Strengthened by this belief, Priscilla took to heart their teachings and the rest of the Traditions’, and genuinely believed that their opponents, the Technocracy, were the villains in this ‘saga’. She fought long, and hard, and well, learning the Spheres of Prime, Correspondence, and Forces, and doing all she can to help the Traditions’ cause.

Then, she had her first encounter with the Nephandi, an encounter that she didn’t want to talk about, but was something she had clearly won. Nevertheless, after that, she began questioning the basis of the Ascension War, seeing past the divide between Traditions and Technocracy to see…that both sides were deeply flawed. The Traditions had done some soul-searching and tried to change, but the Technocracy was still an organization that had come from origins that were good in the beginning, and still did much good.

So, what was there to be believed in? The answer was: Protecting the Sleepers without smothering them; nurturing their potential without believing that Mages knew better just because they had the stronger wills.

Supporting Characters:

Lucas Lee – Technically Priscilla’s superior in the Celestial Chorus, Lucas takes a hands-off approach to his pupil, providing her with monetary and moral support and information, mostly about Nephandi and Vampire sightings. A tall old man with a senior rank in the Episcopalian Church, Lucas harbors some of the same doubts as Priscilla, but unlike her, still pursues the war against the Technocrats.

Name: Simone Alphonse
Age: 32/88
Species: Mage
Appearance: In spite of her age, magic keeps Simone looking youthful. Her blonde hair, bright blue eyes and slim build fit with the classic European idea of beauty, though she prefers to keep he hair shorter, usually in a pixie cut like was fashionable long ago. She dresses in long, flowing clothes and prefers solid colors over patterns, yellow and white are her favorite colors and most of her outfits incorporate them as the primary colors.

Personality: Simone is outgoing and has a cheerful demeanor, but that is coupled with a cynical outlook on the world. She is not an idealist, and quick to critically examine, but in spite of seeing flaws everywhere she doesn’t let it dampen her positivity. She is inquisitive and loves to learn about people and their problems, and is not afraid to give advice. Being seen as helpful is very important to her, and she rarely turns away anybody who comes to her with a problem. She enjoys reading philosophy and other intellectual pursuits in her spare time.

Biography: Simone is from Alsace in France, a region that bordered Germany. Her early life was turbulent due to World War 2, which her older brother fought and died in. It was at her brothers funeral that she experienced her awakening as a mage, and soon after she left her hometown and settled in Paris for a few years. There she got involved with various cultural movements and became involved with the local mage covens. Although sympathetic to the traditions she never joined any of the major ones, instead identifying with the orphan tradition that would come to be known as the Hollow Ones. Simone was loyal to people over factions, and as her confidants in Paris began to drift apart she traveled the world.

For several decades her life was constantly on the move, searching for truth in far off locales like Cambodia and Rwanda. The ascension war never interested her, but she did make it her mission to nurture younger mages and show the ways of the world of the supernatural. Personal relationships came and went, including marriage with Steven Yang. After growing dissatisfied with the wandering life, she moved to Los Angeles, the center of so much of western culture. Simone still tries to mentor young mages, but also has taken more of an interest in building ties with other supernatural in the region. As she grows older it becomes harder for her magic to sustain her youth. The paradox incurred will eventually be enough to make her unable to maintain on earth, and she will have to leave for a horizon realm if she wants to continue. With these concerns, she is now thinking about what kind of legacy she will leave on the world.

Supporting Characters: Steven Yang: Divorced husband, still on speaking terms. He’s with the Euthanatoi and lives in Hong Kong, but when he’s in the area he and Simone like to meet up for coffee and other discussions.

Ok I'm making it so that mages have all their powers, just no powers like detransforming Werecreatures or summoning sunlight etc. That should balance things out without taking away what makes them mages.
