Theme
It's the year 2457. Mankind has long reached out into the stars ever since their breaching of the sol system, discovery of faster than light travel in the form of phase gate technology, and contact with the many unique alien species that inhabit the galaxy. However, after a series of violent and destructive encounters with a hostile alien species known as Throgg, humans became one of many species to join a galactic governed organization known as the UGCP or United Galactic Coalition of Planets. In this alliance, they were offered protection and technology in exchange for diplomatic accession under the UGCP government. It was either this, or fight alone against the overwhelming, and at the time technologically advanced, Throgg Empire who threatened to conquer their star system. With little choice in the face of enslavement or extinction, mankind assimilated into the UGCP, submitting to the laws and policies of their new planetary government. Through the UGCP, mankind continued their exploration and colonization of the known universe, integrating with the rest of galactic civilization fairly well, accepting other species and cultures among their own planets and settlements. Though planet Earth, as home world to mankind, still remains mostly populated by humans, it isn't too rare to see alien residents, tourists, or the occasional inter-species relationship. In spite of their inherited involvement in a cosmic war, adoption of a planetary government, or acceptance of alien species, Mankind has thrived for centuries and to this day, follow their ingrained instinctual nature for curiosity and adventure.
The Great Galactic War
Diplomatic relations between many of the space faring species that inhabit the galaxy have been in a constant state of flux for millennia. The addition of mankind to the fray has had little effect on this, other than the recruitment of humans to the UGCP military. Most relations are kept in check by the UGCP, who does their best at maintaining peace and order throughout the universe. However, many centuries ago, galactic war finally broke out after an onslaught of planetary invasions and assaults by the Throgg, an empire of violent warmongers who seek galactic domination in the form of military conquest. After many failed attempts at peace or negotiations, the UGCP declared war on the Throgg with the intent of exterminating their species. Since then the conflict has been a long and harrowing series of battles between armadas and a race to recruit as many non-hostile sentient space faring races into the ranks of the UGCP before they are conquered.
Roger's Tooth
Legends and stories are shared amongst the many different species throughout the cosmos of a colossal meteoroid the size of a small moon which roams aimlessly through the galaxy, rumored to be comprised entirely of diamonds, jewels and precious metals. The worth of such an object is beyond measure, and thus is sought out by many space faring adventurers and organizations. Though it goes by many names, the meteoroid is most commonly referred to by humans as Roger's Tooth among media broadcasting's do to its notoriety of being pursued by hordes of pirates. While no one knows of the meteoroids whereabouts, its flight path, or if it even really exists, there are tales of someone who has landed on it. Though the existence of the meteoroid is uncertain, the one who is said to have seen it has a very real record with law enforcement agencies across the galaxy.
Hunt For Atlas
Better known as the pirate king for his infamy among all thieves throughout the cosmos, Atlas; An entity of unknown origin, species, or creed, has made his way across the star map, carving a name for himself into the wanted lists of pretty much every planet he's come across. Earth is no exception, having witnessed the disappearance of their moon just a few decades ago at the hands of the infamous galactic pirate. For what reason he took their moon, nobody knows. But he hasn't been seen since and the planetary leaders of Earth aren't happy about it. Luckily the UGCP provided them with an artificial moon to replace their old one, which looks mostly the same, accept for the moon sized commercial space station just beneath its pale crust.
Many hunt for Atlas for many reason. Mostly because of the bounties that have been set on his head. However some peruse him for his knowledge of the whereabouts of Roger's Tooth, for he's claimed and somehow convinced many that he set foot upon the valuable meteor. Most view these claims as just another deception but the very few that know Atlas, know that he's never once lied. They say he'll steal the air out of your lungs if given the chance but wouldn't lie if it meant all the riches in the galaxy.

Factions
United Galactic Coalition of Planets(UGCP)
Founded millennia ago by some of the oldest galactic civilizations, the UGCP is a massive republic made up of many different species and their associated star systems and/or planets. Governed by a large council of representatives and ambassadors from each society within the coalition, The UGCP tasks themselves with maintaining peace and order throughout the galaxy among all life within or outside of the UGCP association. They also strive to unite and establish integration and peace between all sentient species that populate the galaxy if possible, without interfering in the affairs or cultures of those specific species that don't involve interplanetary interaction. For the last few dozen centuries, the UGCP has been at war with a the densely populated race, the Throgg.
Throgg Empire
A race of war hungry humanoids similar in looks to orcs of ancient human lore. Brandishing massive ample forms that stand eight to ten feet tall among their warriors, pointed teeth and tusks evolved from their strictly carnivorous and at times cannibalistic appetite, and a deceptively knowledgeable technological capacity for creating weapons, war machines, and fleets of heavily armed spacecraft which they have seemed to enjoy using in their efforts to conquer the galaxy. The joy of battle as well as the quest for power drives them to slaughter or enslave anything that isn't Throgg which happens across their path, deterred only by death. Retreat is not a word Throgg can comprehend. When offered a peaceful alliance and a request for them to keep their violent and combative tenancies to their own species, the Throgg emperors ordered the ships of the UGCP ambassadors destroyed and used their corpses to decorate their ships and armor. Serving as one of the few biggest threats across the galaxy, Throgg ships are best avoided if not equipped with the finest weaponry and/or the back up of an armada. Woe are those who find their planets or star systems targeted by this blood stained empire if they have no allies to rely on.
Order Of Hyperion
Being a mostly peaceful species, those of The Order can be compared to monks or zealots. Found sparsely throughout the galaxy in ambiguous locations are ancient monasteries and temples said to be built by the oldest entity in the universe, known and worshiped by the Order as Hyperion. Taking up residence within these ancient structures are the Order, deemed Hyperians by most, who are tall, lanky life forms similar to humans only lacking in pigment. While somewhat cult like, Hyperians can proove to be wise and insightful, and have even been rumored to be clairvoyant. When offered membership within the UGCP, the Order declined, stating they are governed only by Hyperion. Having no real home world and being so scattered, it's rare that Throgg fleets or pirates are any trouble to Hyperians. However, when encountered, the Order have been known to mysteriously go missing along with the structures in which they resided, and their assailants are never heard from.
Key Locations
New Newyork
Located on Earth and serving as one of the capitol cities where you find the most interplanetary traffic, New Newyork was renamed long ago due to the evolution of language fusing the words New and York. Since then, the city itself was expanded and rebuilt many times until it reached the densely populated, species integrated, towering society that is New Newyork. Structures tower so high, multiple layers of platforms, sidewalks, and streets have been constructed at various heights. Typically, one will find the higher class establishments and residences at higher altitudes while more slum like and poorly maintained communities live and work below.
Luna-2
What was once Earths moon now serves as a large space station used by the UGCP as a commercial outlet for vendors of all kinds from across the stars. Since the assimilation of earth into the coalition, the planet has been somewhat of a tourist spot for different species. A profit was discovered in that reguard when Mankind found the need for an astral body to help maintain certain hemispheric and atmospheric conditions. Now for all intents and purposes, the earths moon is a giant flea market/gift shop.
Commonwealth of Eupluria
Euplurians were integrated into the UGCP many centuries ago, not too many decades before humans. They are known for their technological know how when it comes to creating space faring vessels among other varius types of technology, and have been responsible for many of the craft used by much of the Coalition today. Their home planet of Eupluria has become fully industrialized for the production of various ships and appliances.
Lusmari
A beautiful resort planet covered in lush forests and hot springs. Visited by many for vacation and recriation purposes, the planet is host to many installations outfitted for comfort and relaxation. Sanctions established by the finite amount of locals(Lusmarians) and the UGCP prevent deforestation or interference with local wildlife. Other than a few guidelines and restrictions, visitors may do as they please, keeping in mind not to grow to far from their resorts for fear of being lost among the vast forests and unknown wildlife that inhabits the paradise like planet.
SB798-17
A colonized asteroid among a ring of many that orbit a baron desert planet in an obscure star system serves as the ambiguous rest stop and base of operations for many space faring pirates, bounty hunters, and mercenaries along with many other misfits or outcasts that don't quite fit in with galactic society. Created long ago by a group of exiles who were rumored to be led by none other then Atlas himself using funds he supposedly acquired by selling a chunk of precious material he mined out of Roger's Tooth. Today, the outpost is a relative safe haven for those who find themselves on the run from Both the UGCP and Throgg forces along with any other dark history they may be trying to escape.
Vanitos Prime
Capitol of the UGCP and home to the council meetings held by the Coalition's planetary governors. The planet itself is basically a giant bureaucratic office building where political and diplomatic information along with social records are settled, documented, and filed. Think City Hall but for the Galaxy. This is where you come to do your planet's taxes.
The Ralicose System
The current battlefront between the UGCP and Throgg military forces is taking place predominantly in the Ralicose system, where the Throgg originate from. All planets and species within the system have been conquered and/or converted into factories or enslavement camps where Throgg breed soldiers and construct war machines for which to dominate the galaxy with. It's best to steer clear of this system and any near by systems for that matter, or risk facing off with the blood thirsty war crazed Throgg. Only the UGCP has been brave or foolish enough to incurs upon Throgg space.
Key Ships
The Empirion
Ship Classification - UGCP Assault Carrier
Ship Role - UGCP Soldiers
Crew size - 50
Description - Currently in its third year of service, this massive UGCP ship is one of many like it that patrol the galaxy. Armed with an array of anti-fighter ion cannons, missile defense platforms, hull shielding technology, a powerful rail gun, hangars for fighters and corvettes, and emergency jump drive technology, these ships are usually assigned on long far reaching, and often hazardous missions. Luckily they have been know to hold their own, even when moderately outnumbered. 8 Decks spread out among three main sections of the ship, all kept organized and cleaned to military standards. Among them, are several individual crew quarters, a single mess hall, observations decks, engineering bays, hangars, and just about everything else you find standard in most battleships. It makes stops every couple weeks at space stations or friendly planets to refuel, restock, and relax, if only momentarily.
Current Crew - Callivan Oxidarias, Lex, Mel, Clifford, Serena, Zanith
Miss Pac-Man
Ship Classification - Freelancer Armed Cargo Frigate
Ship Role - Freelancers
Crew size - 20
Description - It might be a little rusty in places but she runs like a beaut' and roars like a loin. Built from the frame of a war frigate and refitted to be a cargo vessel/living space for the Freelancers on board. In spite of having most of its potent, anti heavy warship capabilities removed, this ship still carries a small arsenal of disruptor cannons as well as just enough space to fit 4 fighters. 5 if they're small. However this ship doesn't see a whole lotta heavy combat that often, as Freelancers tend to stick to safer jobs or destinations, only taking on risks when it's absolutely necessary...or totally on accident. Most of the time it's totally on accident. Freelancer ships, when caught out in the wrong place, tend to be a pretty juicy target for pirates since they're rarely armed and usually carry decently valuable cargo from courier jobs. Unfortunately for them, Miss Pac-Man Packs a punch.
Current Crew - Omorfiá, B.E.A.S.T, Melissa Bell, K-Dog, James J, Rozix
The Hellion
Ship Classification - Rilex Assault Cruiser
Ship Role - Pirates
Crew size - 30
Description - The Rilex are one of the many obscure species under UGCP jurisdiction. Not too many people run into them due to endangerment through inner-species wars. It was just over a dozen years ago that one such war took place between two Rilex controlled planets. The aftermath was an atrocity, leaving nothing but a debris field filled with broken ships and remnants of war machines. However, while scavenging for weapons and parts to sell on the black market, a young renegade came across a large ship still relatively in tact. As he explored the dead vessel, it was discovered the crew had all suffocated. An electromagnetic pulse weapon had rendered all of the ships systems, including life support, offline. After the grueling task of removing all the bodies, replacing or repairing the burnt out systems, and a lot of reprogramming, the ship was brought back to life and deemed The Hellion. In spite of some older systems and a few blind spots, the ship has some decent weaponry, sporting anti-fighter ion turrets, two belly mounted particle cannons, and point defense shielding. In addition, the engines have been modified making it one of, if not the fastest ships of its class. Now, many years later, it cuts a swath through the galaxy, hunting for adventure and profit while swiftly and often narrowly avoiding trouble.
Current Crew - Artyom Yolkov, Holiday, CB17 Alpha, Charlie "Cogman", Isabel, Shaw
Thunder Raid/Omega
Ship Classification - Heavy Cruiser
Ship Role - Bounty Hunters
Crew size - 15
Description - See here
Current Crew - Alexis, Omega, "Nova", Tara Taa'l, Edstein Radford, Kidd, Rulgath Robinson
Free Roles
Pirate - Outside of the law or government, pirates make their living by profiting off unconventional and often illegal activities. Thus they are charged with space piracy, an offense punishable by exile out of Coalition space, imprisonment or in more heinous circumstances, death. Because of this, pirates find themselves steering away from Coalition controlled planets unless absolutely necessary, keeping their routines and refueling cycles to obscure space stations, back water planets, or more industrialized/commercial installations that are flooded with far too much traffic for criminal pursuits.
UGCP Soldier - As part of the UGCP military, these soldiers are tasked with peacekeeping and, when necessary, tactical operations in the name of maintaining order and peace throughout the galaxy. Provided with military training for galactic combat, high grade weaponry and technology, and some of the fastest spacecraft the coalition has to offer, UGCP soldiers are often dispatched with a crew to undertake various missions during their one tenth lifespan term of service; which for humans is 10 years.
Bounty Hunter - Making their wage by capturing and turning in criminals across the galaxy for money, bounty hunters live based on their skill. Ususally, one resorts to bounty hunting when they have combat experience and cant seem to fit in doing work in a restaurant or on a planet somewhere. At the same time, they likely are retired from, or don't have the will/discipline to join the military. Either for this, or whatever reason, bounty hunters take on the often dangerous and unthankful job of hunting bounties. Big surprise there. There is no real organization for bounty hunting, making these individuals entrepreneurs of detaining wanted criminals.
Freelancer - Traveling through the galaxy, most citizens of the UGCP pay their way across the stars by doing something best known by space travelers as freelancing. This is the act of picking up random odd jobs or deliveries from planet to planet or space station to help fund the cost of fuel, food, and travel. Typically, freelancers have a large variety of goals or reasons for exploring the cosmos. Whatever the purpose, there's nothing like temporary hired labor to make a quick buck along the way. There is a freelancer registry as well as an unspoken freelancer code which keeps most individuals who peruse this occupation from mischievous deeds.
Limited Roles
Ship Captains - While there will be four main ships and four main groups, I'm open to anyone with the desire to be a ship captain of either their own ship and crew, or will want to captain one of the main ships. Either way, obviously we cant have everyone be captains so the amount will be limited in respect to how many people are a part of the roleplay at any given time. In any case, please let me know if you have interest in being a captain and we can discuss what that entails.
Throgg Militia - I inevitably feel like someone will request to be part of the Throgg empire. Initially I was against the idea but as it stands now, I'm okay with a few people playing Throgg in the roleplay as long as they adhere to the characteristics of violent warmongering orcs in space.
The Story Thus Far
This will update as the roleplay pans out.
Rules
- Ten sentence(two paragrapgh) minimum.
- Keep all ooc in the ooc section of the topic. (Cant stress this enough) This includes ooc in parenthesis. Just put it in the ooc section please.
- Don't take control of other characters without consent from the owner of that character.
- Keep all criticism toward other peoples posts to inbox messages. It's okay to give advice or refer to the minimum post length, but complaints about grammar, spelling, or in context interaction should be made directly to the person it concerns and not announced for the world to see.
- Be courteous and respectful to everyone. Good mantra toward of life. Apply it here too.
- I would say wait for two other people to post before you post again. We don't want people getting left behind in a flurry of 1x1 speed posting.
- Inactivity and abandonment hurts any roleplay significantly and can result in the hard work and creative effort of everyone involved being completely wasted. If you don't have the time to participate in this roleplay, please don't join. Too many times have I seen people join a roleplay, post twice, and then leave mysteriously. Please only join if you can be relied upon to respond in a timely manner.(at most, try not to let three days pass before responding to an interaction.) If you have prior responsibilities or are limited to computer time, please let me know. I'm willing to negotiate up to a one week time frame to wait between posts however it will likely have to be for uncommon roles. Anyone inactive for an extended period of time with no reason will unfortunately have to be removed.
- Don't post in the IC or Character sheet section without permission from me or any co-GM's appointed at the time.
- Limit of 5 characters currently active per person at a time. While having multiple characters is encouraged, having too many might become hard to maintain if done all at once. If you wish to create more than 5 characters, let me know and we might be able to negotiate something based on the circumstances.
- Post your CS in the OOC first for acceptance.
