Following the Rebel Alliance's victory at the Battle of Endor and the death of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, riots and uprisings took place on a multitude of Imperial-held worlds, as the news spread across the galaxy. Even Palpatine's homeworld of Naboo could not escape a liberation struggle. On Coruscant, billions revelled in their newfound freedom, and riots broke out from the non-Human-dominated sectors in which all Imperial patrols were attacked in the streets. Statues of Palpatine were toppled and other Imperial symbols were desecrated by those non-human minorities that had been savagely oppressed.
In the midst of all the celebrating and rioting, Imperial authorities ordered a massive crackdown on the rebellious elements in the city-planet's population and gave full power to the local military force to end the uprising and restore order to the system. The military retaliation was horrendous and the death-tolls rose as the Empire struck down the insurrectionists and brought the populace back under its control. Following this, control over Coruscant was again restored.
However, Emperor Palpatine's death provoked a crisis of leadership within the Empire: Palpatine had never laid down a succession plan, and various individuals and organisations alike now lock eyes onto the tasty prize that is the Imperial throne. A temporary Ruling Council was established, but held little real power. Wary of further Rebel strikes against key targets, the Ruling Council adopted a fortress world strategy, fortifying key systems. This left the Rebellion, swiftly reconstituted as the Alliance of Free Planets, largely unopposed. Additionally, this defensive strategy caused many of the Empire's most ambitious Moffs and governors to think only of the safety of their homeworlds and power bases, causing them to de facto break with the Ruling Council and become the first ‘warlords’.
Did the Rebels truly defeat Palpatine’s Empire at the Battle of Endor? Remnants of the Empire surely remain. What fate awaits the disintegrated Galaxy now, with a fledgling Alliance trying to maintain order? What of the secrets still uncovered?
OOC information:
This is a free-form story. Though there will be some form of over-arching tale, or a series of 'planned' events, participants are encouraged to write their own opus. The Star Wars universe is hugely diverse, and this makes for a lot of potential characters. Do you want to be a Moff? Go for it. Rather play a cock-sure smuggler? Right on. A pilot? An officer? A screaming fuzzball? A scruffy-looking nerf-herder? Sure. Force and sabre wielding freaks are fair game, just provide a plausible backstory true to the setting.
"Is there a limit to how many players for the game?"
Not really. It's a big, big sandbox and a lot can go on and on many different levels.
"Can I play more than one character?"
Yeah. Because it's such a big sandbox, as mentioned above, you can play multiple characters.
Obviously Force users will be highly scrutinized character sheets, as will largely powerful Imperial/Resistance characters--though that's not to discourage anyone from these characters.
I got these questions on Discord, so feel free to hop in the game channel and ask your own questions or plot aloud with us.
Stormtrooper classification: Imperial Heavy Trooper
Designation: ID-2076
Military Ranking: Platoon Leader that compromised of 201 units. Nickname: Di
Race/species: Human
Planetary Origin: -
Gender: Male
Armor appearance: Heavy Troopers wear more durable armor than regular stormtroopers, which provides them a limited level of protection against lightsabers. The armor is completely self-contained and comes with its own air supply, allowing them to operate in most hostile environments. The joints of the armor have integrated servos which give Heavy Troopers artificially increased strength and speed. Since that* mission, all the coloration in his was black. You can tell he is battle-forged just by looking at his armor suit, all the years of fighting engraved on it. It was slightly modified visually, as well as getting a new helmet to differentiate it from the common trooper uniform. He has also added a lot of tricks and "cantrips" up his sleeve after going the illegal road.
Personality: Easygoing and sociable when off-duty, ruthless and a nightmare while wearing the uniform. After becoming a bounty hunter, he became more and more violent. Killing someone just because they were standing there at the moment...and he felt the need to drive a blade through someone's skull. He later went on to form his own group of space pirates, mostly focusing on certain imperial cargo ships. Besides taking a considerable part of the cargo, he also got the payment from the Rebels, or The Republic, whatever it was called nowadays. 2 skulls in one blade. He doesn't tolerate insubordination, it's the complete other extreme. He loathes it to the bone, that being the bone of "traitors" into which he carves different things. And you can't get to the bone without gnawing through the flesh. As it is already apparent, torture became one of his main things during his work.
Appearance: 2 stripes of dark grey hair cut very short, line his head in the middle, distanced symmetrically, starting from the back of his head forward. His eyes are sharp, emotionless and have a dark grey color. He has a craggy face with strong jaws and a short trimmed circle beard. A light-saber scar is visible ranging from his left eye to beyond his left ear, a little into the back of his head.
He was brought in to serve the Empire when he was 9 years old. His training was hard and rigorous, testing his mental and physical capabilities to the limit. With hard training and good genetics his body muscle grew exponentially, also achieving a height of 178 cm at age 15. Besides him being in peak physical condition, he was also noted for quick thinking, exemplary show of loyalty towards higher ups and putting his mission above all. Even in team trials or versus matches in the academy, he never even took a second glance at his fallen comrades, he was always in the vanguard, being the first to charge and bait the enemies to focus him giving his comrades a chance to kill. In other times he charged forward, getting in close while his teammates covered him, giving him a chance to take things to close quarters where he had the advantage. Noting all these traits they decided to list him as a potential candidate on being an Imperial Heavy Trooper in the Stormtrooper Corps. So he was taken aside from the other cadets and trained separately with a selected other group of individuals. This training was harsher and unforgiving. By the end of all that, only he and a few others were given the honor of serving the Empire as a full fledged Imperial Heavy Trooper.
After leaving the academy he was sent on different missions throughout different contested worlds. He was charged with dealing against large and/or difficult to kill enemies. In many of those worlds he encountered "Jedi" in battle. While most if not every single Jedi was eradicated, their students still roamed about, practicing in hiding. He mostly used cheap tactics to get the upper hand, using surprise as a battle winning factors. That and the fact that he had the help of multiple squadrons under his command, backing him up while he fought in the front lines. In one particular mission he was sent to eradicate a group of Jedis hiding in an uninhabited densely forested planet. It was briefed that they were training young future force users and Di's mission along with 9 other Imperial Heavy Troopers was to engage them, distracting them while another group acquired the younglings. If this mission failed then they had orders to kill the younglings, "better than being in the enemies hands" as they put it. As he was fighting, the Jedi knocked his helmet off and nearly missed killing him, instead only injuring his left eye and ear, both organs lost, scarred to this day. Luckily the Jedi was forced to retreat as more back up arrived and the fire power became too much for the force user to deflect or dodge. Di was taken back by a medic and patched up, made aware that his left eye and hearing were lost. After taking just a few moments to regain his balance, he got his electrostaff and went to check on the younglings while the Jedis were distracted, deciding that it was the best course of action taking into consideration his wounds. When he approached the residence where the younglings were supposed to be, he saw multiple dead bodies, dozens of the Empire's forces laying motionless on the ground and a clocked figure limping in the distance, heading towards a hole in the ground, surely towards where the younglings were hidden. Di activated a timed grenade, throwing it to explode a few feet before hitting the target. As the grenade flew towards the target, just as he expected, the Jedi used the force to stop it mid air. No sooner than it stopped, the grenade exploded knocking the clocked figure back, slamming it through a tree. It turned out to be a young girl as Di approached her unconscious body and took a closer look at her features. He then turned his head towards the hole, whimpers could be heard coming from inside it and just as he was about to approach it he was suddenly lifted up then abruptly slammed down, creaks on the ground formed around his body at the place of impact. If it wasn't for his extra hardened armor and physical enhancements, he would have certainly blacked out if not worst, but none the less Di pretended to be unconscious. As the Jedi shifted his attention from him to the other unconscious force user, Di quietly retrieved a grenade and threw it in the underground hideout. The children quickly reacted to it and the Jedi, sensing the danger, used his force powers to quickly lift it up and away from the younglings. Di used his opportunity and got up in a flash, his electrostaff in his hand, hitting the Jedi in the sheen, making him lose focus, the grenade falling again into the hideout. With barely enough time to react, Di raised his electrostaff to defend against the lightsaber attack, as soon as they made contact the lightsaber short-circuited. Without the saber even shutting off completely, the Jedi kicked the trooper hard in the stomach, sending him flying off the ground tens of meters away until it reduced to a slide then a stop, the trooper laying there, unable to move. When the Jedi's attention finally returned to the hideout and the grenade danger, it was already too late. The last things he heard were screams then an explosion, the hideout shortly collapsing afterward, burying the horrific tragedy that just occurred. Di could hear the explosion, the anger fueled scream then silence... He tried to call for back up but the comm device wasn't functioning. Suddenly all the trees around him were blown aside, leveling the area where he was standing, also knocking him further back, slamming him towards a cut trunk in a seating position, his head and back leaning on the trunk. He could barely keep track of what was happening at this point, too exhausted and wounded. The pain was hard to NOT keep track off as he could feel every inch of his body aching and throbbing as blood trickled out from his armor suit. A force lifted his body, a force choke focused on his throat, blocking his respiratory system and gradually causing the trooper's vision to fade. Well, he fulfilled the mission.. He couldn't help but meekly smile at the fact that his last thoughts were about the mission, the greatness of the Empire. NO, why couldn't he have something for himself? Something personal to remember on his dying moment..ANYTHING. Anger sparked inside him at the realization of the empty life that he had. If only he had made different choices.. Too late now, this was where the journey ended for ID-2076..or so he thought. As his body was levitating towards the angry Jedi with the lightsaber in hand, Troopers approached from the woods, their white silhouettes could be seen running towards the open area they were in. As it completely faded to black, Di saw shots fired towards the Jedi's back, coming from all side.
He woke up in the medical chambers aboard the star ship from which he embarked from at the start of the mission. He saw the medical droid looking through his health data, finally determining that he was fit enough to presume daily life without medical assistance it approached the drawer, picked up and presented his off-duty cloths to him. It also added :"How is your left eye and ear functioning?". Surprised by this at first, Di quickly remembered what had happened and of the Medic Trooper informing him of how the left eye and ear were beyond repair. The droid briefly explained that they were replaced by enhanced cybernetic replicas of the original also adding that the higher ups had requested him to present himself before them with a detailed verbal report of the mission as soon as he was to wake up. After dressing the trooper went on to present his report. First he was congratulated on the successful mission. Every force user on that planet was eradicated. As Di explained the details he was cut off mid sentence saying that there was no female Jedi on that planet. When the trooper was about to insist otherwise, his superior added that multiple scouting groups were dispatched to search the area for any survivors and no one had left the planet either. This was passed as mild confusion after being slammed into the ground.. although that happened after* he saw her... Di finished explaining the mission details then left with a salute. A few days later he got a promotion to Company Leader in light of the brilliant decision making and overall micro-management of his squads.
A few years later the news arrived. Like a hammer which missed the center point of the nail causing it to twist and break, came the news of the Emperor's demise. Lord Vader seemingly perished alongside him. This meant a lot of things. For one, there was a power gap which everyone would be clawing through each-other to fill. He had to make his move. But before that could happen, a few weeks later a self proclaimed warlord asked for Di to join his ranks. This "Warlord" had already amassed a large number of military forces, meaning that once joining him, Di and his company would melt right into it. No, he needed to find a less powerful one, someone he could use and eventually take over. With this in mind he refused, something which marked his fall. Not even a few days later, Di found himself on a remote planet lying on a swamp half dead, surely presumed fully dead by his Company. The capsule on which he used to reach the planet lay broken and heavily damaged a few feet away. He was out of the game without even starting it. Heavy and aching all over as he was he made his way through the flora. It must've been poison, he thought to himself and as to confirm it, after removing one glove he noticed black veins pulsing on his hands. If it wasn't for the wide variety of drugs that he usually took on a regular basis he could have as well been dead, his body dumped in the swamp of some faraway planet. This planet however, seemed to belong to the Hutt, the fact being made apparent by the guards standing outside a fortification, asking on Di's business with the Hutts. Long story short he was taken in by them, fixed and placed under their debt. He worked the good time of a year as a bounty hunter to pay it back. Even after the debt was payed he still continued to work for them. The pay was good, his slug bosses were feared throughout the galaxy, and being part of that wasn't half bad. His main job applications were for hunting remnant force users.
@Sini And just wanted to add that I loved Taboo. One of the best shows this year. Mr. James Delaney
@SiniI'm somewhat interested I got a few ideas however I'm not really sure if this is my type of roleplay. What will our characters be doing at the start of this roleplay? I'm not a big fan of 'just plant a character here and do your own thing' I like to have my characters have a series of events they can follow through on. Is this one of those former roleplays? If not then I'll definitely consider joining but basically I need more info on what's going on and how it's going to work.

If there is still room I would totally be interested in joining, although I hope there is somewhat of a guiding hand for the players :D
These two posts intertwine so I (read Ruby and I) will try and give a concise answer that satisfies you both.
The "series of events" that you can follow already exist in the Star Wars Universe. So, yes, there is an overarching narrative: the one available from canon. We will be using this as a basis and touch upon flashpoints and events already in place. However, while we start with these 'fixed' plotpoints I suspect that depending on PC (inter)action we will deviate from the canon course. In short, we'll use canon for ease of reference and groundwork but we are not anchored down by it. For example: after Endor came Jakku which cemented the New Republic's victory over the Empire.
Referring to the "guiding hand" I'd say you largely make your own story. You're not obligated to adhere to the master narrative but this in itself would arleady offer you a guideline. Furthermore, other player's characters will be there, so these too provide a shoreline for the literary lost. Finally, I consider it as my job as a GM to offer support and guidance, and am fairly certain that Ruby will say the same thing.
If you feel I skipped or inadequately answered your concerns, let me know! ;)
@SiniMy own personal hatred for the 'new canon' aside my main hesitation for this roleplay comes from the fact that I don't want to make character and just put him somewhere randomly in the galaxy and work on from there. I don't enjoy just going off and doing my own thing solo by myself as a player.

Wave your hands. Ask for collabs. Try to plot your character in with other characters.
I'll be doing Mara Jade and a Rebellion/Resistance higher up. I'm open to plotting courses with people so our characters cross paths.
I doubt I'll be the only person open to such a thing. Who wants to RP in a vacuum?
I agree with what @vancexentan said. I like it when players interact, and I don't really like just going off on solo adventures. Regardless, this looks interesting enough that I'll probably join ^^
