The snow in Mossflower Wood fell gently from the sky. Tadarax sat beneath a large oak tree inside of his tent. His fire roared outside and could hear the wood crackling. He thought to himself, 'This is no place for a toad. The snow.' he coughed, clearing his throat. He checked his rucksack and noted that his provisions were almost gone. He shouldn't be too far off from the Abbey though. He remembered his parents talking of the abbey as a child. Telling great stories of the big red walls guarding over the free folk of Mossflower. How it was a wonderful place to live filled with food and kindness.
He looked to the sky and noted the sunrise coming quickly. He gathered together his things and stepped outside. The chilled air caused a shudder and he pulled his cloak tighter. He began disassembling the tent and packing it away in his bag. He turned to the fire and began piling snow atop it to put the flames out. "I hope that have a good warm bed at the Abbey. I could use one." he mumbled to himself. Once the fire was out and he was satisfied that he hadn't made a mess he set off down an almost unseen dirt path covered in snow.
Mossflower was a peaceful place. Even during the winter it still was. Although, far less inviting the scenery was still something to see. Tadarax wandered for another hour or so before finally seeing the top of the great red walls of the abbey in the distance. The sight brought a fire into his heart and quickly warmed him. His step became more of a spring and grin spread across his face. "There it is! Redwall Abbey!" he said joyously! He continued on the path with one thing in mind. A nice warm bed.

Far to the north west in the icy seas, a fleet the likes of which Mossflower had never seen broke over wave after wave. Great black sails with a sinister ghostly figure painted on them soared in the wind. To the front of the fleet a large black ship led the way.
"Cap'n Yaarna... Scragtoe says he a found sumfin' you may wanna see." a large rat with thick white painted fur cowered in front of the captain. The floorboards creaked as the rat cowered in place. Yaarna looked at the rat. "Are you afraid, One-Eye?" Yaarna asked. The rat looked up from his feet. "Y..y...yes, Cap'n Yaarna." the rat stammered. Yaarna stood up from his chair behind his desk and walked over to the rat. He casually through his arm around the young rats shoulder and smiled. "My dear boy. Why you have nothing to be afraid of!" Yaarna continued smiling, "Come with me!" Yaarna walked forward opening the door to the cabin and leading the rat outside. The crew was hard at work, but stopped at the sight of the captain stepping from his quarters. "Come ere' lads!" Yaarna yelled. At the sound of the captains voice all the hands on deck quickly piled into a large group. The young rat was still beside the captain with his arm around him. The captain addressed the crew, "Boys! Old One-Eye here tells me he's a feared of me!" he said chuckling and giving a light shake to the young rat. One-Eye gave a slight smile and chuckle. Yaarna looked to the crew, "Now! What have I told yuns' about being a feared?" the captain paused for a moment pulling One-eye tighter into his grip. The mood changed drastically in this moment. Yaarna's light casual hold on One-Eye quickly became a grip of death. The crew all watched in silence, "I've told you all many time I don't have room for cowards on my ship." as quickly as the mood had changed a dagger slid across young One-Eyes throat spilling blood onto the deck. Yaarna let the body fall to the ground. "Feed him to the fish." Yaarna said, "And someone bring me Scragtoe. I hear he has something to tell me."

Lilly

Lilly smiled as she walked around Mossflower. Her ears twitched curiously as she stopped by River Moss and sat down neatly. She took her boots off and dipped her furry feet in the water as she did she let out a soft sigh. She kicked her feet softly before laying back and closing her eyes. Her feet were killing her. Her staff laid by her left side while her bag laid to her right. For now she completely relaxed herself and having a much needed rest.

Splinter

Splinter looked at the red sandstone of Redwall Abby. He let out a soft sigh before entering. He wanted a life of peace and solitude. He wanted to feel safe. He could here, he gave a nervous smile and kept away from most people. He was afraid he would just make an embarrassment out of himself, that he would fail in friendship like he did everything else. For now he went to the pond and sat down beside it on his own

Spike

Spike was currently in salamandastron near the dunes. He was in his armour at the moment, his sword was away and his quills were flat. He had walked far yet he still had much travel to go yet before he reached this so called Redwall Abby. For now there was no need to be alert. Right now there was no danger. This was a whole new adventure for him though and so far it had been rather fun. He looked around to make sure nobody was about before he began to stretch his quills and shake them slightly. When he had moved them a little they relaxed once more.

Coal

Coal sniffed the air softly as he felt the grass beneath his feet. His ears twitched as he listened to the blowing of the wind and sweet birdsong. He could smell sandstone so he figured he was getting close now. Considering he was completely blind he took notice of his surroundings far more than most people did. He only wished he could see the world too. To know and understand the colours of the world. To know his own reflection, to see his future children if he were to ever have any when he were older. It all deeply saddened him. It was just then he bumped into the wall of Redwall Abby. He rubbed his head before feeling around and using his nose to find the entrance to the front gate.

Reptile

Reptile was on the top of the mountain, he had claimed the ancient volcano just so he could see the top. Apparently everyone said it was the 'mountain of the fire lizard' according to legend. He gave a smile then turn around to start making his way down the mountain slowly. He had seen what he had come to see, explored what there was to explore, now it was time to head further towards a place called Redwall Abby where he could continue to explore and continue to live whole new experiences.

Rascal

Rascal had just arrived in Mossflower Woods. He had to leave his old life behind, he couldn't cope with the loneliness anymore. His sword was sheathed and as he walked he felt the breeze of wind in his fur. He stopped by the River Moss and bent down to get a drink. After he had quenched his first he looked up to see a cute little hare dipping her feet into the water. She had red eyes and peircings in her ears. He gave a small smile before slowly walk around to try and come up behind her. He crouched down slowly and took in his surroundings. His yellow eyes met her pink bag, then they were directed to her staff. Finally he took a look at her boots. He was considering his options but, not wanting to be too mean he decided to keep it simple. He snuck up behind her and quickly jabbed her sides with his paws while at the same time he shouted out loud. "Got Ya!" He was trying to make her jump and scare her a little. He couldn't help it and it was the reason he had no friends but he enjoyed the pranks he did. That was just who he was.

Auria

Auria had just entered the Redwall Abbey. She planned to move here due to it's peacefulness, it was a fantastic place to relax and chill. Her sword was put away while her cute little cape blew in the wind. Her nose and whiskers twitched before she moved on towards the pond area. Once there she kneeled down and washed her face and even took a drink. It was then that she noticed another mouse was sitting down by himself away from everyone else. She smiled with kindness and finished washing her face before walking up to him. Her whiskers were still twitching with tiny droplets of water. She sat beside him and spoke in a soft yet kind tone. "Hello there. My name is Auria. I noticed you sitting by yourself, what's your name?"

She gave him the kindest of smiles when she finished talking. Everyone could use a friend and in her eyes he looked the kind of person who was always alone and she knew that loneliness was a terrible feeling, one that nobody should have to live through.

Muddy

Muddy had come to the Redwall Abby for peace and quiet. Sure this place could be crowded at times but at least here she was safe and surely there were places where she could spend on her own right? She lifted her glasses up slightly and slowly walked forward until she saw a black mouse bump into a wall and rub his head. She stared at him for a moment before moving on. With the corner of her eye she continued to watch him move slowly and cautiously and there was something strange about him. She may be shy but she wasn't heartless. She waited until he was out the way from everyone else and when he was she slowly built up the courage she needed to walk over to talk to the young black mouse. "Excuse me? I noticed you bumped into the wall and I wanted to ask if you were alright?"

She spoke quietly and she let out a soft blush while looking away. She didn't really like others looking at her, she didn't like being the center of attention but it was ONLY one person, and she was just checking to see if he was alright. As soon as she got her answer she could leave him alone and be on her own again. Just a little longer.

Lilly

Lilly shot up with shock as she felt the shock as she felt someone jab her sides. She turned around to see a a ferret crouched down behind her. Her shocked expression turned to a smile.

"You scared me but that was the whole point, wasn't it? My name is Lilly, what's your name?"

She gave another smile to him and held out her hand for him to shake. She wasn't angry in the slightest that he had scared her. It was all for fun. There was no point in angry about it.

Splinter

Splinter looked to the other mouse as she sat down next to him. He stared at her for some time before eventually looking into the pond and staring at his own reflection.

"Splinter, my name is Splinter. I just prefer to be on my own, it's better that way."

He looked to her once more before turning back to the pond with a soft sigh. In his opinion, it was better that way, it was less chance of him failing.

Coal

Coal's ears twitched softly as he picked up movement headed towards him and with his sense of smell he could tell it was a mole. The voice was feminine so he assumed it was a girl and from the voice, young too.

"I'm as good as I'll ever be. I can't see, completely blind so I bump into things sometimes. My name is Coal, what's your name?"

He gave a few sniffs towards her before tilting his head as he waited for her to answer. His ears twitching as he did. He could still smell her so she hadn't left, at least not yet.

Adaira dropped down from the boughs of a tree that overhung the abbey walls, landing neatly on all four paws and somehow perfectly balancing the weapons scattered around her personage such that they didn't come loose with the considerable fall that she'd just endured.

"Two mice I don't know," she chuckled with her faint accent upon reclaiming her footing, reaching out to ruffle the seemingly-saddened one's head, "and one is gloom-n'-dooming. Come on, you'll never meet a nice girl like that," she continued, a laugh in her eyes.

Turning to the to the other mouse, her quick, laughing eyes glinted at the appearance of a sword-hilt on her belt, and took in not only the boiled leather armor clinging to her that was quite obviously fitted specifically to her, but also the way the mouse held herself, the utter confidence in her own strength that she exuded. A warrior, this one, Adaira realized, and so young, too. They both seemed fairly young, in fact. She bowed jokingly and exaggeratedly, giving a broad sweeping motion to the remainder of the abbey with a colossal claymore that she'd unslung from her back a bit faster than the mass of the weapon would suggest.

"Well then, since I've not seen you two before, let me welcome you to Redwall Abbey, the place I don't actually live! I'm Adaira Blackwood, the resident Squirrelscout of Mossflower wood. If you're ever in trouble out there," she flung out an unoccupied paw towards the woodlands, "call out for me. I might hear you, who knows. I hope so." She grinned wildly. "Been too long since I've had a good fight!"

Okay, so maybe the mice could've been at Redwall for a week or two. Sure, it had been a while since Adaira's last visit. And perhaps it mightn't be a good idea to greet them with a sword roughly as long as they were tall. But eh. As far as she was concerned, more mice meant more fun, so she was as enthusiastic in greeting them as possible.
