Name: Regis Lightpaw
Species: squirrel
Appearance:
Age: 28
Alignment: Good
Starting location: Mossflower country
Weapon: Regis wields a pair of axes, light blades which can easily be used for close combat as well as being weighted for throwing. The axe heads belonged to his grandfather who was killed years ago defending Noonvale from a clan of rats who had been seeking the hidden birthplace of Rose. After Alden Lightpaw’s death the Axes were interred with him.
Years later following the discovery and destruction of Noonvale, Regis recovered the Axe heads from his grandfather's grave swearing vengeance on them.
The hafts of the axes are a polished dark wood taken from the shores of the North sea beyond the long since forgotten burrows of Holt Lutra. Regis spent want days, after finding a replacement for the Axe hafts, shaping and rebuilding the weapons.
Regis is also skilled with the other weapons of the Lightpaw clan including the longbow, longsword, throwing knives, bolas and sling though he has yet to replace the rest of his weapons.
Backstory:
Born to the Lightpaw clan Regis was destined to become a defender of Noonvale. While the vast majority of the residents of the hidden community refused violence, the Lightpaw and Shadowtail clans insured that the community could live in peace by keeping out intruders.
When Regis was in his late twenties the Noonvale witnessed an unprecedented and unprepared for attack. A band of rats had been searching for the hidden community and finally in the dead of a heat heavy summer night. They found it. All Regis remembers is the screams of his friends and family as they were killed in their beds. His father died by the sword and Regis was left for dead. The morning found the squirrel, wounded and alone with the dead. Noonvale had been discovered and destroyed. After days treating his wounds and burying the dead Regis finally made his way to his grandfather’s grave where he recovered the Axes he now carries.
With vengeance in his heart and something calling him to the South Regis left the shores of the northern sea where he had wandered after the tragedy he had survived. Now the roving squirrel guard has made his way into Mossflower Country. Regis does not know why he wandered south but something has been calling him onward, and little does the Last Son of Noonvale know but his path is dead set on colliding with the fate of Redwall Abbey.
