Clara Robles is a denizen of Thlecia, the arid city-state that once was run liberally before it became part of the Imperium of Iquenos. Her family continued to follow their magical traditions and heritage, which eventually led to the same story that hundreds upon magi faced during this age of the Ecclesiae. Separated from her family for many years now, the twenty-five year old terra-oriented magi hopes to find her family and restore the rights her people deserve.

Etoile Lécuyer is a daughter of the Imperium, though her tenacious and inquisitive nature has caused her favor by the clergy to be lost. A member of the high nobility, Etoile has shaped her destiny against those she once served alongside. Now twenty-seven years old she finds herself on the run from her former comrades-in-arms, hoping to make sense of the madness that has befallen her. But between her skill, good fortune, and clever use of the ventus aether that resides within her soul, maybe just maybe she’ll find a way to bring light to the corruption within the Ecclesiae.

Lazulin Mulciber, the son of a prominent researcher and magitek scientist, has seen his share of the imperium up close. For a time, he was a loyal and brilliant up-and-coming inquisitor but things did not work out so well in the end. When his mother was attacked by his fellow inquisitors he found his entire way of life had been taken from him. The last thing he remembers of the incident is dark flames consuming him. Was there something more to his attunement to his ether? To the element known as malum? The answer is somewhere and Lazulin intends to find it.

Pagonia Calore is a man who refuses to die, a testament to his survival following various struggles following the destruction of his home village and the imprisonment of his mentor, Garland Durandal. Strong of will and a temper that would make the god of embers blush, Pagonia is a challenging person to deal with should someone bring him to such heights. A master swordsman and magi blessed by aqua aether, Pagonia has the makings of a great hero despite only being twenty-five years old.

Pythia Nsiferum is the last member of the Nsiferum Dynasty, the longest reigning royal line of Iquenos. Currently seventeen years old, she is constantly reminded of her own personal demons as her past continues to define her. Sworn to restore the royal line, purge the corruption from the Ecclesiae, and have vengeance for her parents who were slain at the hands of shadow inquisitors, Pythia looks to the future with an unending passion. She’s of the aether element known as fulgur and relies on utilizing through her sword, Judas.

Zestasia Calore is one of the few survivors of the chaos that has been stirred by the imperium and the magi guilds. At seventeen years old, he fits the stereotype of a headstrong and naïve hero who still wants to see justice be done for not only his village and family, but also his mentor who was taken by inquisitors some time ago. His aether is within the domain of Ignis and he has become an unique practitioner of fire magic as a result where he serves as a direct conduit from the aether that the sun grants him.

Anníbas Nix is the son of Solvinius Nix and an active inquisitor that serves as often as an escort and defense operative. At twenty-five years old, he’s a rather young inquisitor with a middling level of experience though he has been consistently and quickly rising among the ranks of the clergy. His fellow inquisitors consider him overeager, brash, and sarcastic (to a fault), though there is much more to him than such things. He is known to have inherited the ether affinity of aqua and utilizes it in the fashion of a Prodigium Magium would, though he is versatile in that he can be subtle through item usage as well. He is likely the most powerful of Alaric Fasarus' attache.

“I will destroy all of my enemies, even if they pretend to be my friends.”

PYTHIA NSIFERUM - 17 - IQUENOS - SWORD SPECIALIST - CHAOTIC GOOD

V I S A G E
Pythia was once a small and fragile girl with the look of a beggar and coward about her. In recent years, all of those have essentially vanished as she has grown into a hot-tempered, prideful, and resilient young woman – though she is still very much her mother when it comes to her stature. Standing at five foot three, Pythia is easy to ignore in a crowd or a busy building as she seems forgettable despite being the crown princess of the entire imperium and the legitimate heir to the throne. Pythia prefers the appearance of longcoats and wears a tunic underneath in a conservative fashion. She wears her fire red hair long and loose, though in some occasions fashions it in a crude ponytail whilst her amber eyes are often blank as if expressing disinterest or discontent.

P E R S O N A L I T Y T R A I T S
Pythia has been described as quite possibly one of the most temperamental people in the known world -- though it is clear that there is much more to Pythia once you peel back the layers of her personality and the motives behind them. Once done you will see an individual that is fighting against oppression not only because it is righteous and noble but also the only thing that they have left to motivate themselves due to the loss they have suffered throughout their life; without it there is nothing and for Pythia Nsiferum that is what truly terrifies her most. But to cover up these fears, doubts, and misgivings Pythia has decided to live up to two principle ideologies in her life— trust no one, and create an armor of rage and zeal.

And there is a lot of rage and zeal; and perhaps even more distrustful paranoia.

Pythia is very wroth, proving that it is better to be irrationally angry for a small thing than show someone it is acceptable to do even the slightest affront. This admittedly can make working and interacting with Pythia difficult and she knows it; she just doesn’t particularly care. In terms of priorities, the only thing that immediately concerns her is the mission at large and her crusade to punish all those who support the Ecclesiae and their disgustingly immoral and unethical acts against the people of the world. Being criticized for being “irrational” or “wroth” is insignificant for her and it is extremely likely that any critic who utters such phrases to her will be reminded that they are an irrelevant moron or naïve fool to prioritize feelings over goals.

Her future peers and comrades would find her difficult, that much is for certain.

L I F E E X P E R I E N C E S
Ever hear the story of the Ecclesiae and how it usurped the throne from the Royal Family? Pythia Nsiferum knows it well, a fact that should not come to a surprise since it was Pythia’s ancestors that were driven from the throne and persecuted for the centuries that followed; hunted like mad dogs who refused to be leashed and put in their place. It would be a story that Pythia would be reminded of in her adolescence time and time again; almost to the point where she could recite it word for word. It would be one of Pythia’s first lessons -- the past can never be forgotten if the future is to prosper. It would be a lesson that she would learn personally when her family’s hidden compound was discovered by agents of the Ecclesiae when she was thirteen years old.

The Ecclesiae’s law had finally caught up with the Nsiferum dynasty and their refusal to bow to their magical oppression. Rushed into a secret chamber in her parent’s quarters before the final hour of the attack, the vicious ruthlessness of the Ecclesiae’s agents was in full view. Pythia has never forgotten the visage of her parents being run down by magical blades; there was no trial, only death and slaughter. Despite all of her training with sword and magic, Pythia couldn’t muster any strength or courage to battle her parent’s executioners; she remained hiding, shaking in fear as her mind kept replaying the horrific event -- a recollection that she would continue to remember in her nightmares for the years that followed.

Four years later, Pythia is a different woman who continues her search throughout the outlying villages and townships that are now under the authority of the archon’s agents. Searching for the way to begin her journey to the imperial palace and have retribution for the sins she has suffered.

Fulgur

A T T R I B U T E S
Artificem Magum -- The classification discerned to magi who channel their magic through items rather than the environment. Pythia utilizes her magic in a limited external way, requiring fully on her foci to create devastating magical effects. The greatest weakness of this concept is that she relies on armaments such as her sword to use her magic thus without it she is extremely less threatening.

Sword of Judas -- Pythia’s weapon of choice and her magical foci. As a magical artifact and the finest sword in the world, Judas, is a significant weapon of olden times. It has been passed down throughout her family for several centuries, fighting in constant battles against dangerous beasts, insane magi, and abyssal creatures alike. Pythia sees Judas as the tool of her vengeance and a weapon of justice for the entire Nsiferum Dynasty.

Bookish -- The most surprising aspect of Pythia is her obsession with books; even those that have no tactical or intellectual value. She enjoys reading and can be often seen with a book in hand when resting at a tavern. This nuance dates back to her childhood where she would spend entire afternoons in her enclave’s library, it is one reason why she is fluent in several ancient languages including those that are not written or spoken anymore.

Expert Swordsman -- Pythia first held a training sword in her hand at seven years old. Since her parent’s execution by the Ecclesiae’s hands she has continued to refine her abilities with the blade at every occasion. Though it is clear that Pythia by any definition could not be considered a master of the art due to her youthful age and lack of experience in the long term. However, her prodigal skills in the art is enough to put her on equal footing with many weapon-based magi to some extent.

Infiltrator -- Despite being temperamental, Pythia is quick-witted and adept in the art of blending into a crowd when the occasion arises. She’s clever enough to track people in an urban environment, decipher tactical advantages, and gather information. After all, she knows she will get nowhere if she focuses on killing every member of the church instead of the larger targets that have more responsibility in the murder of her family.

Zestasia Calore

A G E
17

O R I G I N
Forgotten Village of Hellion

V I S A G E
Zestasia has the appearance of a young man with fair skin, neck-length golden-yellow hair, and cerulean-colored eyes, average height and weight for a “kid” his age..Fashionable with a somewhat modern take on garbs. His usual outfit of choice is comprised of dimmed-grey pants, dimmed-grey shoes with a cerulean line going along each side and meeting in front, three layers of clothing on the torso(a white shirt, a v-neck, grey shirt, and a plaid jacket of blue and grey), and lastly,a dim brown beanie that sits upon his golden mane. He carries a shoulder bag with him at all times, and wears a necklace with the emblem of a cross of some sort.

P E R S O N A L I T Y T R A I T S
Zestasia Calore doesn’t lack confidence and sometimes he’s not modest about it. Sometimes he’ll display something more akin to arrogance, but at the end of the day, he’s just a kid with a heart of gold and a love for fun. Does this end up putting him - and others - into binds? Most likely, but as a thrillseeker and a lover for adventure, that tends to happen. But if you have fun, then it’s okay.

Additionally, Zestasia is one of those people that, without sounding too trite, holds the bonds he has forged to be of great importance. This comes with unyielding loyalty and unconditional “love”(it has varying forms). A sense of duty, if you will. Think of Zestasia as if he was the sun: warm, always watching over you, and always there for you when you need it most. And to those that oppose the sun(or its allies), it will strike with such ferocity those on the other end of the assault might end up regretting their course of actions. Want to avoid that? Don’t mess with his friends or anyone who might have even half of his affection.

L I F E E X P E R I E N C E S
Zestasia’s life, for the most part, has always been a quiet one. He was born(and mostly raised in) a small, quaint village that’s hardly on anyone’s radar. It was one of those villages that slid so far under the scope of anyone ever that they were able to live their lives with little to no outside conflict/involvement, but of course, when the conflict between the Magi Guilds and the Imperium became increasingly violent, the village of Hellion became a casualty of that.

Zestasia was merely seven at the time that his village was in the middle of the conflict, but by when one side pushed back, it resulted in the complete destruction of his village as well as the deaths of nearly his entire family(save for his older brothers - twins - Pagonia Calore and Ouranós Calore).

Still fresh off of what happened to their village and under the impression that Ouranós had died in the destruction of Hellion, Pagonia and Zestasia traveled for a bit until they came to one of the capitals. It seemed as though that Pagonia knew what he was doing, because he left Zestasia with some old man by the name of Anatoli Solis, a maleficarum who specialized in a form of Ignis Magic called Sol Vibrante. For whatever reason, Pagnonia left him there, and never returned.

Even now, nearly a decade later, Zetasia still waits for Pagonia. But in the decade, Anatoli took him under his wing, taught him all he knows of the Sol Vibrante magic. But halfway into the past decade, Anatoli was captured by the Imperium on grounds of practicing magic, which was apparently illegal. Just moments before, Anatoli told Zestasia to hide. In his shop, there was a secret compartment under his desk that would only open when the Ignis nature was applied.

Zestasia would only exit once he knew it was safe. And as he did, he was once again alone. At just fifteen, Zestasia was left with conflicting thoughts of what to do. His brother had yet to return and Anatoli was taken. There was this deep, burning hatred he felt for the Imperium; for what they represented, and the fact they could do what they wanted simply because they had the manpower and some dickhead-in-chief. Well no more. Zestasia wasn’t going to stand by it. And, whether or not he could do nothing, his life purpose became clear.

Take down the Imperium by any means necessary. Disrupt their operations in any way he could. And when the right time came, rescue Anatoli - rescue your master.

E L E M E N T A L A F F I N I T Y
Ignis

A T T R I B U T E S
Sol Vibrante is a caster-type, Ignis sub-magic in which Ignis-natured ether is drawed from the sun.

When a Sol Vibrante magi focuses their magical prowess, they can conjure up searing flames that imitate the sun itself and have such properties of the great star in the sky. Upon creation, each spell has such a high temperature that it distorts the air around it and is often referred to being “as hot as the sun”. Temperature, of course, is moderated by a user’s skill. A novice wouldn't have automatic-high temperatures, whereas a more advanced-user of Sol Vibrante would be more likely to achieve searing temperatures.

Sol Vibrante gets its name from how its uniqueness is linked to its user. In Zestasia’s case, his spells have a more golden appearance due to his golden hair and how his soul itself is of a golden color. The more passionate and euphoric that Zestasia gets, the deeper of gold that his spells will have, for Sol Vibrante, at its core, is a type of magic that will feed off of the positive and negative emotions of its user. If one is experiencing glee and jovial emotions, Sol Vibrante will reflect that, and grant its user more stable foundations for the spells. However, should they feel strife and/or any mentally unstable emotions, it becomes wonky. At best, its stability would fluctuate; at worst, it will become a double-edged sword, which wouldn’t be ideal for someone like Zestasia who values his bonds above all else.

Triticum - More of a passive ability of Sol Vibrante usage than anything else. Triticum grants Zestasia the ability to store Ignis-natured ether into his body, allowing him free use of it in the event that he's put into a situation that won't allow him access to direct sunlight. Due to how straining this is on one's body, Zestasia can only store up to a full minute's worth of sunlight into his body and only has enough for five charges. This means that, not counting Solaris Orbis, Zestasia would have enough juice for five spells. After each charge is used up, he will be without reserves of his Ignis nature. And per day, he can charge up 2 times. Anymore times after that, and it'll backfire on him(compromise his spells, lessen their power, exhaustion rate increased).

Solaris Pallio - A rather simple spell in both appearance and execution. By mixing innate magical power with energy given to him from the sunlight from either the sun itself or sunlight stored via photosynthesis, Zestasia “flares up” in an aura of golden flame, sparks of white and red flaring around him. While active it enhances any spells he uses by almost a quarter of their core potency. Additionally, the aura also increases his own physical capabilities by an eighth of their core potency, this includes but not limited to: speed, strength, defense, etc. Also, there is a standard one to two minute period in which this spell can remain active. After that, there is not only a cooldown period of the same time, but all spells will have half the maximum strength during this cooldown period.

Solaris Ventum - As the heat from the sun surrounds Zestasia, he channels it in such a way that it creates a solar windstorm - a condensed one, mind you - in a ten-pace circumference with him at the center of it. By gesturing his arms, he can command this compacted storm to take the shame of a flaming wall that can block incoming spells of equal or lesser-strength. Or he can command it to take the form of its namesake(windstorm), and send hot currents towards someone as a means of offense.

Outside offense and defense, there is a passive ability that this spell has and that is to cause anything caught within its entirety to suffer first to second-degree burns. If they are hit with the offensive countermeasure, a third-degree burn is possible.

Solaris Orbis - Easily Zestasia’s strongest and most-dangerous spell he currently knows. It is one that derives from the aura of plasma that surrounds the sun during a solar eclipse. As it is, when Zestasia’s physical state is withered out and without light(this could be an interpretation of Asahi entering a state of a magical form of a solar eclipse). His reserves are low, his body is torn up from wounds, and he is near passing out. At this point is where the residual heat from his wounds, from the air around him, from any source remaining, gathers in both of his palms, and takes shape in a constant-rotating sphere of flame.

As both sphere come to the center on their own accord, Zestasia, through his pain alone, wills the sphere to rise to the sky, absorbing heat as it proceeds upward. Once it gets to the point that it is above all else, it sends pulses of solar energy, which activate certain processes in oxygen to set a battlefield ablaze, scorching all within its twenty-foot region.

One thing to note about this spell is that it’s entirely controlled by Zestasia’s pain. This meaning that it’s as strong as he is in physical unbearable agony. As such, the longer he keeps it going will cause him much strife, almost to the point where he might not even be able to keep the spell active. So, in other words, if his focus isn’t maintained, the orb will simply disappear, even before it has gotten the time to do what it was created for. Additionally, if there aren’t substantial wounds, it won’t have as high of a burning potency as one might think. Less-severe injuries will create less-severe spell power.

Hand-to-Hand Combatant - Right along side teaching him how use magic, Anatoli also taught Zestasia self-defense. He felt that Zest had to build his magical capabilities as well as his fighting capabilities. It was in the event that Zestasia would find himself in a situation where his magic would be cancelled out. Anatoli always thought of everything and that’s why, when Zestasia wasn’t studying about magic, he was put through daily sessions where Anatoli forced Zestasia’s body to remember how to fight. After a while, he got to the point where he could handle his own in a fight. The way that Anatoli made sure of this? Well, he set him up in underground fight clubs, of course. The best way to get better is to know what your limits are, and break them.

And that’s what Zestasia did. Through every defeat, he honed his skills until he got the point where he no longer lost. When he was finally able to hold his own against the best of the best that the underground scene had to offer, he knew that he was good. Added to his training, he also built his body to where it was above-average of someone for his age and their physical makeup.

Sol Vibrante Tactics
Zestasia has learned that, through advanced application of his magic prowess, he can fuse his fighting capabilities with his magic. While he has yet to truly understand the finer mechanics of that fusion, it should be noted that certain motions can expel out streams of flames from his limbs, even to the point where, when he spins, golden fire follows, and follows him as if his body was a trail of oil, leading it to a target.

"ᴀ ʟɪғᴇ ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ᴍᴀɢɪᴄ ɪs ɴᴏ ʟɪғᴇ ᴀᴛ ᴀʟʟ."

N A M E
Uriel Pulnoch

A G E
12

O R I G I N
Outskirts of Ordos

V I S A G E
As a pale, youthful boy, with black hair, innocent grey-blue eyes, and a wavering height that is sure to nab a few more inches upon entering adulthood, Uriel’s wistful face of placid hope seems a little off-putting, but his demeanor does hold a more esoteric determination of contemplation that has revolved sincerely around Nous, Intellectus, Anime Mea, and Cor Meum.  There is joy in such wisdom and deep knowledge, even if, perhaps, the noetic journey has worn a melancholy grimness on his juvenile face, even when he does try to smile.

Although Uriel is twelve and has only just entered his years of adolescence, the young boy appears to be several years older.  That is not to say his maturity is above his age; but perhaps, at times it may be surprisingly beyond uniform for his place in time; and to help set the stage for a more polite and less childish stature, Uriel generally clothes himself with a fitted dark blazer over a contrasting, white shirt – properly buttoned and accompanied with a string tie of sorts, knotted into a bow around the neck of his shirt’s collar.  Dark pants generally escort in synonymous design with his coat.  Of course, if he was to look too prude (with his blouse and tie), rustic outdoor boots attempt to simplify his style and bring any ardent contemplation back to Vitae.

P E R S O N A L I T Y   T R A I T S
Not as guiltless as the insipid blue in his eyes, Uriel’s demeanor can sometimes be seen as ghoulish through the creepily passive approach the young boy exhibits to the outside world.  However, his passivity could not be further from the truth!  The child is a passionate creature – merely a specimen caught in timid silence and pious immaturity.  Therefore, it is reasonable to assume the boy is not weak, as such zealous hesychasm is not for the fainthearted.  He is merely slow to react as he empathizes with each side.

Nonetheless, it is true that Uriel is just a child, barely on the cusp of adolescence, and with such knowledge, it is not so surprising when his emotions get the better of him in ways of brash judgment and jeering wits. It would be absurd to believe he could win against every battle of temptation he faced.  Although, in light of these outbursts, Uriel is honestly ashamed to have drawn himself out of character – most of the time.  When the boy is not ashamed to have pulled the trigger, it is best to leave the situation be.  Of course, such is not always the case, especially when his assault was especially hurtful, and his naïveté of age was in fact at his fault.

With such acquaintance of Uriel presented, it is safe to shoulder the belief that the boy is a well-studied, loyal fellow who has quite a conscious for such a short lived life.  He also has an (obviously natural,) intellectual talent for commanding a heavily weighted spirit.  Perhaps, he is not the quickest to make ends meet in the midst of an inducement or when choosing sides, but once the time approaches, Uriel is more than willing to shed his fitted jacket and dirty his blouse.  Once the spirit begins stirring, there may be a dangerous unwillingness for Uriel to control it.

L I F E   E X P E R I E N C E S
Born to a family of merchants, Uriel’s upbringing was rather colorful in the rich fruits of learning of other cultures outside of the Imperium of Iquenos. It was declared by the inquisition that they were traitors helping smuggle and protect heretics from the imperium. The necessity of this underground railroad had been engraved into Uriel’s conscious — while such etching took precedence, Uriel’s very own ether was trained by not just his father and mother but by the weary sacred travelers they helped during their business routes.

And so, as the story continues in regards to the the declaration of the inquisition turning into orders, when Uriel had just reached the age of contemplation, he was shuffled off into the outskirts of Ordos (to live as a student to an old hermit, Artemius Sérapis. Artemius’ trained and tuned Uriel’s magic through books and knowledge and practice (with occasional trips to the marketplace that became less cautiously approached with each return -- his vestments assuredly deeming a good suit for such outings). Four years shadowed into the future, and even if Uriel has learned to control the rage he harvests inside towards what has happened to his parents — and others like himself, there is still a burning desire to make things right. If all creatures naturally acquire inside an atunement of ether inside themselves — connecting all of creation together through this mystical power, then would it not be death — suicide — to the existence of all things to begin denying it as an essential, a necessity, a life-giving force? Uriel cannot stand for such abomination, even as the young child that he is.

E L E M E N T A L   A F F I N I T Y
Sanctus

A T T R I B U T E S
Scholars Magnum - Being a well-read child by the hands of merchants, travelers, and a sagely hermit, alongside the acquired knowledge throughout and beyond the borders of Iquenos, Uriel has an education of Sanctus beyond his age and often times, his own reasoning — but is that not what magic is? Uriel uses memorized phrases of ancient times to exercise his affinity; tones to cast spells, tones to control variants of energeia.

Gemstone Locket - A square, pewter locket with a spodumene (lilac) kunzite stone decoding the outside of the ornate piece. The locket holds a small relic of a thought to be holy magi. Such value was a gift from his father, an heirloom presented down through generations. The story believes that traces of the holy one’s ether still dwells in his relic, and with the right alignment of mind, body, soul, and heart his powers may be instrumented for purifying and strengthening the summoner’s magic.

Orationis Liber - A dark brown, leather prayer book with old pages, aged in devotion and struggling fingers of many different owners and masters, Uriel has taken refuse in the chants and prayers that have been inscripted on the rustic paper. A thick leather string wraps around the book and nooks on a brass button sewn onto the front cover. An ancient symbol is melted into the button — a language that Uriel has yet to uncover.

Sapientiae - Not surprisingly, Uriel’s acknowledgement for the world around him and his self-introspection are set apart even if wistfully done. There is unforgivingness in his bones, but in the sanctity of his vessel, he knows that the World cannot exist without the proper mysteries of magology being cherished and nurtured in society. Perhaps, he is not quite a prodigy; but he is talented, nonetheless; and the further practicing of his affinity, illumination only flourishes more.
