Below is a narrative introduction but first: a summary! As the title suggests, this is a RP about people with powers/special abilities. These may vary from regenerative abilities through to telekinesis. It is set in the modern day and the characters will be young adults (early twenties, specifically 20-25). Everyone's characters will start out weak and slowly grow in strength as the RP progresses. They will not have even been aware of the existence of powers before they enter the facility where they will awaken them (to be clear, they do not currently have any powers). Example: If your power is telekinesis you aren't going to be flinging large objects at people. More like knocking over cans in a shooting gallery. With your mind.
This is a reboot/rewrite of a successful RP from Old Guild and had several parts but I'm hoping to have a new cast with new characters and so a new story will unfold (although I am of course happy for returning players to use their previous characters).
Without spoiling anything, this RP has quite a long and very changeable plot.
Introduction
You had been feeling ill for a few weeks but thought little of it, the flu goes around and around this time of year and surely you just fell victim to one of its many strains? Yet, here you are, whisked away from your home, or the doctor's office, or from your workplace, by an anonymous task force dressed in full body bio-hazard suits who insist that you have no normal illness. Your illness heralds the coming on of powers, inhuman and never before known powers, and you have been taken to a secure facility in which to safely develop these, they say.
Scarcely can you believe it, so fantastical is the tale that has been weaved for you. They tell you that others before you were less lucky, not reached in time and their power grew beyond their subconscious control and wreaked havoc on themselves and their surroundings. One would be sceptical, in this situation, if it were not for the chance you have been given to call your family who explain government representatives have informed them of the situation. You are safe here, in this facility, where you can be trained to develop your power so that it is no longer a threat to you or others.
Once this is done, the symptoms of your 'illness' will recede and you will no longer be infectious, a threat to others. So you are resigned to this temporary life, away from your friends, family and home in a luxurious facility specifically designed to accommodate your every need until it is safe for you to return to society.
And yet you cannot help but feel that something is not right. Perhaps it is because you feel ill, because so much is going on around you which you do not understand. Maybe you have just seen too many superhero films and the situation you are currently in never works out well for the heroes involved. Still, things are never quite what they seem. Especially when dealing with the complete unknown of Empowered Humans.
Character Sheet and Guidelines
Name: Age: 20-25, a date of birth would be ideal. This will be set modern day, we'll say 7th November 2017 as the start date Gender: Sexuality: Appearance: Picture/Photo/Description or a mix, I'm not picky as long as you're happy it describes your character as you want it to.
History: Self-explanatory, any details about their family life, education, work experience etc. These people should have led fairly 'normal', mainstream lives. Nothing like something out of a Prologue for a straight-to-DVD martial arts film which you'd fall asleep to on a Saturday night in. They will NOT have had any experience/signs/history with powers, they have not existed in the world until this moment and until these people enter the facility they will have no powers at all.
Power: the all important part! Best to be general here to start with, for example telekinesis, control of electricity, super strength etc. We can go into more detail as powers develop and the characters come to understand their powers a little better. Remember that they will start off very weak, almost the point they barely noticed they had a power at all and it will slowly develop as time goes on.
Please add in any other details you feel are relevant/necessary for your character.
If you have questions/suggestions/ideas feel free PM me or post in the thread. All sheets must be approved by me before posted into the character tab. Please post then into the OOC below for review.
Oh, and rules...
The usual things. No over powered characters (unless I give permission!), no abuse in the IC or the OOC, be nice to one and another and if you're going to be really nice to one another then fade to black and take it to PMs. That said I'd like to think we're all fairly sensible here and I'm pretty chill about most things.
However: No 'lolis', no mystical nonsense and no going over the top of any kind. The characters in this roleplay are adults and I would expect them to behave as such, as I would the roleplayers.
I will work out a Skype chat or something similar if people want to have a platform for random chatter outside of the constrains of the OOC.

History
Welcome to lower class suburban hell, where to the outside world everything looks peaches and cream but in reality- you're drowning in stasis and college debt. Bailey was nothing more than your average American boy with bright dreams and who wanted to believe that he had the right to shape and mold the young minds of the masses. What he didn't realize at the time was that not only did his dream career pay out very little but it often came with little to no gratitude. Not that he minded at the moment but he couldn't help but to feel a little bitter as he stumbled through his first shot of student teaching. The kids didn't care, that was a fact he as forced to come to terms with almost immediately and those who did care lacked the courage to put the class clowns in their places. Alas, this was his passion. Bailey had dreamed of being a teacher for as long as he could remember. Well, a professor but everyone had to start somewhere. For him it was at the NUI, a decent little college located a town over from his home. This allowed Bailey to cut the cost of dorm life and stay at home while working on his studies.
Of course, university was not cheap. Despite applying to numerous scholarships at the end of it all he was left with a hefty sum. Several student loans later and one soul sucking job in customer service, Bailey had finally made it- well, at least to the unpaid world of student teacher. Where he awkwardly scribbled down notes while fending off invasive questions from the high schoolers. Overall; he had to admit he was still excited about each day and those naive dreams he started out with still burned somewhere in his depths.
Power
Bailey's power is induced paralysis. Through the power of his touch, Bailey is able to momentarily render the muscle and nerves in a state of paralysis, which applied to a major muscle such as the heart can prove to be fatal. Otherwise it can leave the victim subject to the loss of movement, speech and even feeling.
Other
Bailey is legally blind in his right eye due to a fire cracker incident when he was six. He has some vision without his glasses but mostly just vague shapes and some color. His left eye has near perfect vision but his depth perception is shot which leaves him to bumping into things or dropping objects he simply meant to put down.
That's entirely up to you. I, personally, find it hard to sum up a character's personality and try to show it through introduction/early posts but I know a lot of players prefer to have it in their sheet up front.
As long as the basic bits are there then feel free to add whatever you feel is relevant.
@Jinxer My idea is someone who controls Yin and Yang, essentially, Light and Dark. His body would never age past puberty even though he does grow older. Would that be alowed?
I understand the lack of ageing but how else might you apply that power? Having control over Yin and Yang is a very abstract notion, light and dark less so but still very subjective.
In more direct terms, what kind of applications would this ability have in your mind?
@Jinxer Just the power to see everyone's sins, as well as to keep in perfect balance and harmony, be of not good or evil, instead neutral. He would have an open mind because of this perfect balance and harmony, allowing him to speak telepathically and create holographic projections of his thoughts, memories and feelings. Other than that, juat light and dark.
I would've posted this much earlier but I became consumed with making a banner and trying to describe her powers unu
ELIZA NYKO
Age: 23 (Dec. 15 1994) Gender: Female Sexuality: Bisexual Height:5β7 Weight:130lb History: Born to a powerful family in upstate New York, Eliza had wealth, luxury, and status. She was privileged with the best education money can buy. Yet despite all of that she didnβt have power. Her older sister, Elaina, was the rightful heir to the family wealth and power. Power that controlled and influenced half of New York. It was safe to say Eliza was envious of her sister. She would then spend most of her life trying to prove her worth, proving she can be better than her sister. It ended up creating a rift between the two sisters, and causing both to become extremely vain. And through all the backstabbing, the one-upping, the ass-kissing, it seemed as if Eliza was winning the favor of their father. But before any decision was made, a car accident claimed the life of Mr. Nyko, leaving everything, all the wealth and power to Elaina and Elizaβs dream of control was shattered. Heartbroken and defeated, Eliza wanted nothing to do with New York. Something that Elaina was happy to arrange. With that Eliza was sent to the other side of the country, but Eliza lived more lavishly in California, in a desperate effort to drown out the humiliation that followed her from NY. Power: Possession: Ability to take control and talk through a non-living/inanimate object. She must touch the object in order to βpossess itβ, her conscience then moves from her body to the object allowing her to control and move the object on her own. Since she has almost no control of this power, there are times where she accidentally/unwillingly possesses an object. She hasnβt figured out a solid way to willingly go back in her body but at the moment the only way back to her body is if someone breaks the object. (So if you see a talking pencil rolling down the hallway donβt question it and snap it.) Other: Never worked a day in her life other than networking connections at parties. For some reason pencils always trigger her power and so Eliza avoids them like the plague. Doesnβt favor commitment since all her relationships up to now ended badly.
That's a variety of powers, although an interesting idea. In a more fantastical setting I'd be curious as to how you would play as someone who can see others' sins as its a novel concept.
In this case, I'd limit it to something to one area. For example holographic projection in and of itself could be a power, as would telepathy (although perhaps linked to telekinesis or the projecting idea you proposed so that there was a variety of applications). I might worry that otherwise the power would be either too complex and at risk of becoming overpowered.
@Jinxer Ok then, how about just general pyschic then? Which would give him telekinesis, Telepathy and the ability to project his thoughts, feelings and memories?
Name: Rika Age: 25, August 25th 1992 (Due to his inability to enter puberty and age, he looks 13.) Gender: Male (Androgynous) Sexuality: Bisexual Appearance:
Personality: Rika is completely neutral. He is in perfect balance with everything he does. Rika cannot physically talk and is completely mute nor does he use sign language because of this it can be hard to have a conversation with him however he is incredibly smart and understanding. He likes to analyse everything around him. Rika is a friendly and wouldn't hurt a fly. He never gets angry no matter what you do to him, keeping perfect calm throughout all situations. The downside to him is that he can find it difficult to make friends. Rika is a sociopath, having no empathy or feeling no guilt for the actions or mistakes he has made. He is unafraid in most situations and stays quiet at all times. Nor does he have any remorse or shame even in extreme situations.
History: Rika was born with a unique ability which would come to be discovered at a young age. Rika could not physically speak, it was impossible for him. No matter how much his mother tried he stayed completely silent. Her son was a mute. It was at age fifteen that she took Rika to a temple mountain where some monks explained that they knew what Rika was experiencing. According to the ancient monks Rika was unable to age. His body would never reach puberty. Nor would he ever be able to speak. They said that if Rika wished to stay and was allowed to stay without the guidence of his mother, the monks would teach Rika the ways of the monks. After some reluctants Rika's mother eventually agreed.
It was then that Rika began to grow up with the Monks who were called the Monks of Perfect Balance. They taught Rika how to keep himself in perfect harmony and balance. This alone took him until he was twenty years old to fully learn. When he did finally learn the monks tried to teach Rika sign language however Rika was just not interested in sign language. He didn't bother to learn, and wasn't interested in conversations. As he grew up, they learned that he was a Sociopath. Rika then stayed with the monks for the next five years, keeping in perfect balance and harmony. He became known as the Silent Youth as he still kept his youth despite his age.
Power: Pyschic. Rika has got telekinesis, Telepathic abilities as well as Projection of thoughts, feelings and memories.
