Indeed. Characters involving multiple gents in a nation setting are, I find, the vast superior option for collabs.

Only issue with that is keeping things moving at a steady pace...

I don't have a huge background of experience in collabs, but I've done some via Piratepad or similar sites. Essentially, the posts were written in a single sitting in one go. Two at most. Anything more, I think, would start to drag and boil down either to people not having enough time, or the post becoming extremely long. For the most part, I think if people can find a good time to get down to it should be enough to keep a reasonable pace. Becomes an issue if no middle ground can be found though.

Finding a proper time and maintaining the sitdown is the issue with me; my best time falls late for most people and too early for the rest.

Yeah, I see. That would be unfortunate. Personally, I tend to have little time in general when I work, but I have the ability to be up at unusual times for my time zone, so maybe something can be arranged. Otherwise, I am flexible on weekends.

I've found success planning out what happens, and then just writing it out whenever there's free time. I'll absolutely not limit myself to one session with another person essentially looking over my shoulder the whole time. It stifles creativity and creates unnecessary pressure.

My collabs usually happen like this:

Plan things out

Writer 1- (writes several paragraphs
Writer 2- (writes several paragraphs)

Repeat.

Sure, that seems like a fine way to do it also and is more flexible and forgiving towards incompatible time zones. In the end, we ought to do what feels most natural to everyone involved. The method I described is simply what my partners and I gravitated towards at the time; it just seemed like the way to go, and it worked too.

Same here. Haven't really been able to look at the guild lately, and an intro draft is sitting half-complete in an RTF doc.

Maybe a reboot with more carefully detailed galactic lore? Would either of you guys be up for collaborating on evolving the setting further?@ArenaSnow@Ashgan@Thecrash20

First off, if you wanna bounce ideas, I'm always available even if I'm being too much of a slob to get an actual post together in a reasonable time frame. That said, I don't think something as definitive as a reboot is technically necessary because the lore, while sparse, allows for a lot of personal creativity and freedom, which I've gotten a lot of mileage out of, as you can tell, and others might too. However, as I see it, a problem aside from my delaying on posting might be the small playerbase in general. I don't have a precise census but I think we're like three people? Four tops? In theory sufficient but maybe not. With more people, there's a higher chance somebody will get the ball rolling and start an avalanche effect. And a "reboot" of sorts is one way to get more traction going, but I don't know what to think of that.

Honestly, if I can just get a grip and make my posts happen for my respective RPs, maybe things will start looking more lively. Maybe not. :x

I have to agree with @Ashgan that the playerbase is extremely small, especially considering what we're apparently trying to achieve with this roleplay. I'm not so sure a reboot makes much sense though, seeing as how as it stands, there's absolutely nothing here to reboot yet. The RP hasn't even really started.

In my case, it's really just the idea of an introduction that's slowing me down. I can continue things I already have a basis for, but I have no drive to start something new. Something to work out, alas.

A few more people could help. I have the unfortunate paradox of being discouraged by constant thoughts that what I create will simply go to no use in the end. Which is ironic, considering my difficulty in facilitating the opposite. While quantity doesn't necessarily cause that, it wouldn't hurt to have more gents. This is the kind of roleplay I could honestly see expanding into more of a universe, though with a more dedicated theme than the one that presently holds its own subforum.
