The year is 2010, it is a modern age. The muggle world moves swiftly forward, and thanks to the efforts of muggle rights advocates like Arthur Weasley and Hermione Granger, the wizarding world is following along, if sluggishly. A new year starts at Hogwarts, with a new crop of First Years boarding the Hogwarts Express.
Here is a CS, feel free to post a character. I should warn that I am a picky character judge, don't take it personally, I'm usually nice about it.
Name:
Date of Birth:
Appearance: Pictures okay, but no anime style, please. If you like, you can list stats instead of describing in prose(hair color, eye color, height weight, etc).
Blood Status:
Personality: Short but to the point, give me a good basic gist.
Wand: You can create one, or leave this blank for me to assign one based on your character
House: Same as above, feel free to fill out or leave blank.
Pet:
Class rankings: Rank your character's core classes. You can put as many in the middle as you like, but for every Top, you must have at least one Bottom. Top: Middle: Bottom:
I'm almost done my CS but I need some help with the classes. I only watched the movies and read the forst book. I havn't gotten around to the 2nd yet as I am trying to finish 3 other books. What are my options? ^^"
Name: Beatrice Leone
Date of Birth: December 19th
Appearance: Hair colour: Light brown, between long and mid-length, side bangs with many layers Eye colour: Bright green Height: 5'4" Weight: 118lbs
Blood Status: Mixed. Her father is a muggle born Italian and her mother was born into a magically gifted Irish/British family. It is hard to say as to if that side of the family is pure blood or not. They believe in loving whomever you love, equating to there being marriages to both purebloods and muggle borns.
Personality: Compassionate and steadfast, Beatrice is always out to help others and stand up for what is right. She is playful and fits in well with her house as one would have to be very clear or harm her greatly in order to lose her loyalty and friendship. Beatrice is always thinking of the good in others. She is determined and disciplined in almost everything she does.
Wand:
Laurel It is said that a laurel wand cannot perform a dishonourable act, although in the quest for glory (a not uncommon goal for those best suited to these wands), I have known laurel wands perform powerful and sometimes lethal magic. Laurel wands are sometimes called fickle, but this is unfair. The laurel wand seems unable to tolerate laziness in a possessor, and it is in such conditions that it is most easily and willingly won away. Otherwise, it will cleave happily to its first match forever, and indeed has the unusual and engaging attribute of issuing a spontaneous lightning strike if another witch or wizard attempts to steal it.
Unicorn Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard. Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may 'die' and need replacing.
10" in length Most wands will be in the range of between nine and fourteen inches. While I have sold extremely short wands (eight inches and under) and very long wands (over fifteen inches), these are exceptionally rare. In the latter case, a physical peculiarity demanded the excessive wand length. However, abnormally short wands usually select those in whose character something is lacking, rather than because they are physically undersized (many small witches and wizards are chosen by longer wands).
Hard flexibility Wand flexibility or rigidity denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair - although, again, this factor ought not to be considered separately from the wand wood, core and length, nor of the owner’s life experience and style of magic, all of which will combine to make the wand in question unique.
House: Hufflepuff
Pet: Tanino (Male) [Ta-nee-no]
Halp! Class rankings: Rank your character's core classes. You can put as many in the middle as you like, but for every Top, you must have at least one Bottom. Top: Middle: Bottom:
History: Beatrice was raised within the magical community but often visited her Nono and Nona with family, giving her experience in the muggle world. She has a younger sister, and her parents love her very much. They are always encouraging her to strive to be the best version of herself she can be. Beatrice was very excited to receive her letter to attend Hogwarts, just as her parents had. She was even more excited to finally be able to own a cat. She picked out a lovely, large, male scottish fold kitten. She practically dragged the poor animal everywhere she goes, though he doesn’t seem to mind.
I'm not including history or astronomy, as mentioned in the old thread. I'll probably do a quick write up of what the classes cover, but those are the options as of now.
Charms: to change the nature of the subject, act upon it in some way, or give it new attributes.
Transfiguration: to change the physical and/or chemical shape and makeup of the subject.
Defense Against the Dark Arts: the knowledge of darker magic and creatures, and how to counter them. Typically including practical defensive spells. (We'll probably bundle this with combat and dueling, since we all know that will come up)
Herbology: knowledge of magical plants and fungi, and thier properties.
Potions: the application of magical materials into complex formulas to enact specific effects.
1) I do ask for no anime style images, I would prefer you find a different one.
2) She's really tall for an eleven year old. Like, in the 95th percentile. You don't have to change it, but if you keep it, I would just like to see it acknowledged. Maybe she grows to be extremely tall in general.
Name:Skye Anna Sanders Date of Birth:27th January 1999 Appearance: Height:4ft 7in Weight:87 pounds Eyes:Brown Hair:Long and brown Skin Tone:Pale Blood Status:She is a half-blood. Skye's mother was a muggle, whereas her father was a wizard. Personality: Skye is an extrovert who isn't afraid to protect those who she cares about. She's usually calm but she's also easily annoyed. She loves studying and learning about new things, although she favors studying astronomy and mythology. She also loves to sketch and photograph things.Additionally Skye also adores to write. One fifth of her belongings are her stories, poems or story drafts/prompts. Wand:Black Walnut wood with a dragon heartstring core, 11 ¾" and hard flexibility
Less common than the standard walnut wand, that of black walnut seeks a master of good instincts and powerful insight. Black walnut is a very handsome wood, but not the easiest to master. It has one pronounced quirk, which is that it is abnormally attuned to inner conflict, and loses power dramatically if its possessor practises any form of self-deception. If the witch or wizard is unable or unwilling to be honest with themselves or others, the wand often fails to perform adequately and must be matched with a new owner if it is to regain its former prowess. Paired with a sincere, self-aware owner, however, it becomes one of the most loyal and impressive wands of all, with a particular flair in all kinds of charmwork.
As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
House:Ravenclaw Pet: A Russian Blue kitten named Amelie.
Class Rankings(Core):
Top: Transfiguration and Charms
Middle: Potions and DADA
Bottom: Flying and Herbology
History: Skye was raised in muggle community without her father due to him divorcing her mother. She rarely sees him, mainly because he refuses to tell her mother where he lives.
Before her father divorced her mother, he taught her about stars and such, sparking Skye's love for astronomy and science. She was the youngest child, being born 5 years after her older brother which was a squib. They got along quite well and enjoyed spending time together.
When she got her acceptance letter, she was ecstatic. It took her and her mother a while to find the Diagon Alley (mainly because her father didn't tell Skye much about her magical origins), but once they found it they bought everything needed and more(Amelie, additional books etc.).
Before she came to Hogwarts, she wanted to become an writer or an photographer.
Put her in Ravenclaw
Changed Astronomy and History of Magic(Since they aren't required) to Tranfiguration and Charms
Appearance: Vance has black hair with hazel eyes , his skin is fair but not extremely so. He is about 4'9 and weighs 90 pound
Blood Status: Pureblood
Personality: Vance is a crafty individual with a curiosity that is only matched by his spite. He is not somebody to forget if someone has crossed him but the reverse is also true, assuming that repaying them does not involve risking his own plans of course. Vance is no social butterfly but he isn't exactly the sort of person to stutter or fear interaction with others. While he still has a distaste for Muggle-borns, he is willing to get along with them if they acknowledge their 'inferiority. Despite his generally pessimistic and spiteful attitude, Vance always try's to remember his manners no matter who he is talking to.

The unfounded belief that only pure-bloods can produce magic from elm wands was undoubtedly started by some elm wand owner seeking to prove his own blood credentials, for I have known perfect matches of elm wands who are Muggle-borns. The truth is that elm wands prefer owners with presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity. Of all wand woods, elm, in my experience, produces the fewest accidents, the least foolish errors, and the most elegant charms and spells; these are sophisticated wands, capable of highly advanced magic in the right hands (which, again, makes it highly desirable to those who espouse the pure-blood philosophy).

Class rankings: Rank your character's core classes. You can put as many in the middle as you like, but for every Top, you must have at least one Bottom. Top: (DA)DA Potions Middle: charms, transfiguration Bottom: herbology, flying
History:
Vance was born in East England to a wealthy pureblood family. While the family has always kept up a tolerant attitude for generations, the rise of Voldemort caused them to show their true colours, this resulted in the death of Vance's father during the Battle of Hogwarts. Fortunately his mother survived by claiming to be forced to join the Dark Lord by her husband. Vance was raised to hate those who had wronged his family, the auroras, the Order of the Phoenix and any others. After a time of consideration, Vance's mother decided Hogwarts was the best place for him to get, despite the fate of her husband in the school.
Vance's childhood was relatively unevenly, he was taught numerical skills and other essentials, how to play the violin and of his families heritage, beginning in Germany and eventually moving to England shortly after the Industrial Revolution.
@Animera Yeah, everything looks good, I'd put her in Ravenclaw.
I do want to mention that I don't require history or astronomy in the rankings, but if you want to leave it as is, feel free. The reason I excluded them is because I didn't want people to put the two "non magical" subjects in the bottom so they could be good at all the magic, but you're not doing that and if you want it that way you can leave it.
I do feel the need to mention in general that I want in IC disputes to be in good fun between the players. If they fight or compete, try to work out how the competition goes before hand, so that we don't have a lot of "no, but he had a shield" "nuh uh!"
I mention this now just because I can see people trying to pick a fight with Vance, and I just want everyone to keep players and characters separate from each other in their minds.
@Pyromaniacwolf They were misunderstood victims the whole time! Draco only ever wanted to give Dumbledore a thank you gift for being such a good headmaster, but Snape showed up out of the blue and murdered him.
I would actually like to see some less morally dubious Slytherins, though. If anyone wants to take up that challenge.
Tiberius or Tiber has what most would consider a rather piqued curiosity about him, he has an infinity for trying to figure things out which leads to his love for puzzles or anything that involves thinking outside the box. At the same time this curiosity more often then not gets him into sticky situations. He is at heart a very sweet and intelligent kid although most times this can get overshadowed by his silence on the outside. He is not the biggest of talkers, some mistake this for being shy but even at a young age he is guarded for he is no stranger to how mean the world he lives in can be. He does not make friends as easily as others might but he is a caring soul and will be there for you if you need him and he would always be loyal to you as long as you are to him.
The straight-grained pine wand always chooses an independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious. Pine wands enjoy being used creatively, and unlike some others, will adapt unprotestingly to new methods and spells.
This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalize, and their allegiance is usually hard won.

Tiberius was born to his mother and father whom were both Aurors for the Ministry on June 30th 1999 in a small little village outside of London. He does not however know really who they were as both of them died almost a year later under circumstances in which he is none the wiser to. After his parents death Tiber went to live with his grandmother whom took him in and cared for him like he was her own son. Tibers life up until now is not what one would call all that interesting in respects, he grew up in a small out of the way village very much like the one he was born in. Most of his days were spent either reading or roaming around his village and its outskirts looking for adventure as he did not have any friends. Content on keeping him far from the fate that had stolen both of Tibers parents his grandmother kept him fairly close and taught him all the basic things he needed to know as he grew. When his letter of acceptance arrived his grandmother was hesitant to let him go, but beyond her own personal reasons for this they both went to Diagon Alley where Tiber would start his path, towards what he did not know, but it was a brand new world and adventure for him and he was eager to meet it.
CSes for my own characters will be forthcoming, but if I've commented on your CS, you are free to post. Even if I've asked for a change, all of my requests so far are more like soft suggestions, you're all approved for posting. @Sergei Romanov@Pyromaniacwolf@Animera@Hidden Lilly
I don't have a single overarching villain or plot planned, but rather a handful of events and conflicts that we can jump from one to the next.
Personality: The very first word that pops into one's mind when thinking about Michelle is determination, and the second, ambition. Everyone that knows Michelle knows that whenever she puts her mind to something, it will get done, regardless of whatever obstacles she has to push through in order to do so. She is intelligent and very articulate, and her confidence is shown through her powerful mannerisms. She is generally friendly, unless you give her a reason not to be. While being confident in both herself and her actions, this is often to a fault. She is very opinionated, has trouble asking for help, and hates admitting when she's wrong. She tends to keep to herself, though is not timid, and can sometimes be sarcastic and cold towards others. She is extremely dependable, however; If you ask her to meet you somewhere, she will be there; if she promises to do something, she will do it; if you ask her for help, she will do everything in her power to assist. Underneath the frustrated sighs and eye-rolls lies a person who's kind and caring at the core.
Wand:
Redwood Wand-quality redwood is in short supply, yet constant demand, due to its reputation for bringing good fortune to its owner. As is usually the case with wand lore, the general populace have the truth back to front: redwood wands are not themselves lucky, but are strongly attracted to witches and wizards who already possess the admirable ability to fall on their feet, to make the right choice, to snatch advantage from catastrophe.
Phoenix This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. House: Slytherin; While Slytherin has a bad reputation for producing Dark witches and wizards, not all Slytherins are rotten apples. You are here simply because you have high expectations and won't stop at anything to achieve your goals. Sure, you might step on a few fingers to get there, but that's a price you're willing to pay.
Pet:Salem was named after the cat from one of Michelle's favorite television shows: Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She thought it to be very ironic.
Class rankings:
Top: Flying and DADA Middle: Charms and Transfiguration Bottom: Herbology and Potions
History: Michelle was born on January 1st, 1999 in Liverpool to muggle-born witch Katherine Perry-Jenkins and Pure-blood Antwan Jenkins. She grew up an only child, and despite coming from a lower middle-class family, was a bit "spoiled" in result. While being a half-blood, Michelle spent more time with her non-magical side of the family than her other side. Because of this, she is no stranger to "muggle inventions" nor does she discriminate based on blood status. From a young age, Michelle has has been taught by her parents to be tough and look after herself; they told her that no one would have her back like she has her back. As a result, she has a hard time trusting others, and often times puts herself first before others.
It came as no surprise when Michelle received her Hogwarts letter. Her parents had been teaching her things that she would need to know ever since she first learned to talk, after all. She'd heard many tales of the school from her parents, both Hogwarts Ravenclaw alumni, and was eager to find out if they were actually true. She and her parents know that she will excel both academically and socially.

1. I couldn't find another image I liked so I removed an image. Is the description still valid? 2. Oops! I forgot to alter that bit from the first draft. Sorry >.< It should be corrected now.
