@Joshua Tamashiibut Laughter's a devoted warlock, and clerics are looking for heavenly reward in exchange for service, so it's kind of a contract.

For that matter, could she crossclass as a cleric of Cthulhu?

@Joshua TamashiiAramil is listed as a wizard, but his feats are from a ranger. I assume you changed his class while making him, and missed that.

@TheUnknowable A Cleric chooses to worship by choice, a cleric also doesn't have to have his magic given to him by a god, it can be from another source, a cleric can literally not worship a god, as long as they have some kind of faith in something, also Clerics have considerably more freedom than Warlocks, who more often than not are just the slave of some eldritch deity, Also Clerics tend to wear big heavy suits of armor, Warlocks don't do that.
Warlocks do not choose, their faith is thrusted upon them whenever they want it or not, their source of power must come from a Demon, Cthulhu or Fairy. A Warlock can hate his own deity as much as he wants, but Clerics can't

To be fair, Great Old One can refer to more then Cthulhu.

@Joshua Tamashii good point, it gets boring though, I feel like Cthulhu the go-to Warlock Pact takes away the fun out of it, it turns him into a boring cliche.

I agree. If I were to take that pact, I would just say the being is unknown. After all, if you don't know the name, you can't discern your pact master's objectives or why they might ask you to do such and such.

@Game Maker Can I make a check to see if the merchant is lying or trying to con me? Just try to discern that sort of thing.

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying I don't want to interact with your character. Pitanios can be really charismatic, but he's not particularly wise, so he's not exactly tactful...

@Joshua Tamashii yes, you can make either an insight check or perception check. Like most D&D games you can also try to persuade or intimidate merchants into giving you Bette wares or prices (You can even attempt to steal if you like)

Both of those are the same for me, but perception get's a bonus due to Expertise, so I'll take a Perception check.

@Joshua Tamashii Let me know what you roll and I'll let you know what happens. I will assume players are being honest about their roll unless they are always rolling really well. Funnily enough, the last game I played in but didn't DM all the players crit failed a lot, we were really bad at rolling.

Shall I add my bod to the roll for you? Or will you do that yourself? Given that expertise doubles our proficiency bonus I assume my bonus went from 7 to 9 since our current proficiency bonus is 2. Am I right?
