@FiroIV My guess is no. People tend to unconsciously prepare themselves for what they know is coming even if they're not supposed to so it's probably best kept a secret. An educated guess tells me that Inque will be serving as a main villain though. It's the reason we're not allowed ice manipulation powers, they effectively negate her as a threat.

@Member 00492@Demon Shinobi Not sure if i should be asking this or not, but based on what ive read there're a definitive plot and arcs beyond the premise can we get a glimpse of that?

The first arc will deal with Paxton Powers escaping prison after gaining some sort of meta ability. That arc will have a few twists and turns and involve a couple more familiar faces... but Inque isn't one of them. Ice powers aren't allowed because one half of the Wonder Twins uses them and the new Wonder Twins are the only people for sure in the game already [played by myself and @rocketrobie2].

As for following arcs we'll be dealing with the return of Dr. Abel Cuvier and some new Splicers, as well as a more original threat in the form of Prince [not telling]: Son of [still not telling]. <<< Kinda narrows it down a bit though. Who in the DCU is technically royalty? Could be related to Queen Bee, Lord Havoc, Black Adam, etc... I doubt anybody will figure it out before it happens in-game LOL.

Oh there was some talk about how old Matt McGinnis was when he died. I did some more research:

In the Justice League episode "Epilogue" Terry is 31 when he confronts Amanda Waller about being the biological son of Bruce Wayne. Since we know that Matt is eight or nine years his brother's junior and in this RP he took on the mantle of Robin after learning about his brother's secret identity and his biological heritage Matt had to have been at least 22 when he became Robin and assuming the Titans were only a loose team for a couple months before his murder then he was also that age when he died. This is flexible by about a year, maybe two since we only have a rough estimate of Matt's age compared to Terry's.

Another question though, what's the time gap between Matt's death and the start of the RP? It mentions that Batman took down both Inque and Paxton Powers who is now in prison and given how long court proceedings can be drawn out (especially with a rich defendant) are we looking at a couple of months or like a year? I'm just wondering how well the team would be acquainted with one another and we'd also have to make allowances for that time in the age of our characters.

@Prince of Seraphsthats a fair assessment, but it's also important to note that we may not be fully utilizing the beyond continuity established in the animated universe.

It's up to @Member 00492 for sure, but based on prior discussions I think it can be assumed that he is taking liberties.

EDIT: can't believe I never knew how old terry was in epilogue til this very moment XD

And when have you ever seen court proceedings depicted realistically in a superhero genre work?

@ProProa few times. Primarily when involving players like lex Luther... or other rich villains who had the money to make that happen.

Otherwise, in instances like with daredevil. She-hulk, both lawyers.

Not disagreeing with you. Just saying, it's been done.

Still, @Prince of Seraphs brings up a good question. If we already had a number of meetings and begin working as a team, we should establish a slightly more concrete time frame.

Obviously not now since we don't necessarily know who is participating. But still.

@rocketrobie2he does like to use Atlantis.

This isn't Terry as Batman with a decade of experience like in the Epilogue episode. This takes place within two years of Terry joining the JL. Terry is around 20-21 and living in his own apartment, while his brother Matt has been aged up to around 14-15.

This RP basically takes the best parts of the different versions of the Beyond universe. The first comic was based completely on the animated series. The second [Batman Beyond 2.0 and JL Beyond 2.0] aged everyone forward and Terry was in college. This universe was supposed to be more connected to the *then* mainstream DCU [before the New52 and Rebirth]. The third and current series started with a post apocalyptic future that had Terry go John Conner in the past during Futures End. He died there [five years from present day] and was replaced by the older Tim Drake. Since Rebirth Terry has returned and the series is back to taking more cues from the current comics. Superman is now the current son of Superman, Superboy/Jon Kent. That's why his look is so different.

But yeah, I'm gonna take bits from here and there and try to just make the most entertaining long term RP I possibly can.

@rocketrobie2 You would've just lost $$$ cause Aquaman already has a daughter in the JL Beyond. Like I said, it's gonna take a geek to figure it out. Just depends on how familar you guys are with the broader DCU.

No, it really hasn't. It's been made to look more realistic at key points, but it has never actually gone all the way. Anybody trained in actual law can easily point out how it goes off the rails even when they opt for a more realistic court depiction. When they want to have Luthor's influence actually mean something, it's more like weeks or a few months, when in reality the increased clout and red tape would make such things last for a minimum of 2-4 years. The closest we've ever gotten was probably in the Netflix Daredevil with Matt and Foggy handling the case of Frank Castle, and even that would have gone considerably differently had they not directed the story to have Castle freak out in the courtroom (and actually thinking back on it likely would have had the result of turning about into a credible insanity plea).

@ProProyeah but you also have to factor in the entertainment aspect of a television, movie, or comic book. You also have to take into consideration the time constraints.

And just because it hasn't been done doesn't mean you can't take realistic ideas and rules and apply them to a narrative in the interest of a good or more reasonable story.

That wasn't the question. The question was "when have you ever seen a court of law depicted realistically in a superhero genre work." Of course it's altered for entertainment value and time constraint, but that wasn't the point that I brought up. You can't have your cake and eat it too. :P And it's for those exact same reasons that applying a more realistic take on court proceedings (particularly in the manner of Paxton Powers) would be unfeasible in a RP as well. I mean, unless we want to either time skip several months at a time, or it's left hanging in the background for multiple story arcs until we finally come back to it.

Yes but we're talking about the initial time frame of the RP in which a timeskip has already been implied so there is no reason why it wouldn't work from a realistic perspective or a story one.

@ProProi mean why not? That's pretty easily doable. Pretty sure I've seen that done somewhere... I don't remember where... but... I'm pretty sure it has been.

And young justice had mini skips of days, weeks or months at a time between episodes.

Lol but I'll give you that. Fell into my own words.

I'd guess a child of Diana, but they already said you'd have to start getting obscure. DC is my thang though, so I'm sure I can pull something out of my [censored].

@Demon Shinobisorry for some reason i mistook you for @rocketrobie2 who was mentioned in the initial post as being already part of the story.

@Member 00492 Is it someone from the New Gods side of things? I know the Beyond JL already has Big Barda, but son of either Miracle Man or Orion would be an interesting mix. The other option/royalty i could think of/friend suggested would be someone from the side of Themyscira, but it would be in the same idea if the League of Assasins is to be considered royalty they can count too.

I also sent you a CS sheet regarding my character, have you gotten a look at it yet?

EDIT: is it someone from the Tamaranian's or the Thanagar's side of things?

So what can be considered canon if we're only sort of using the DCAU?

@Prince of Seraphs I THINK it's supposed to be mostly an amalgam of anything you can think of. You can just incorporate events in that pertain to your character and that don't conflict with other's or the main plot though I'm not certain about this. That's what I've always done for KL's rps.

@FiroIVno apologies necessary lol I was just curious. And wanted to make sure nobody thought I was trying to take over the game lol

@Prince of Seraphs I agree with @rocketrobie2. I took the liberty of using more than just the DCU and the DCAU when going through my history of my character, which I've yet to edit ^_^ lol

Maybe it's that princely dude... I remember him from Justice League. His mom made all adults disappear or something like that. Or he did. I don't remember the episode specifically all that well. Just that bats, supes, gl and Wonder Woman we turned into kids.
