Tin Men
Facing continuous political upheaval, massive economic collapse, a major energy crisis, and environmental disaster on a global scale, the world has been engulfed in chaos of near apocalyptic proportions. The EU and other World-wide organizations have collapsed, and alliances are breaking down as countries compete with one another for the world's dwindling resources. In this sea of anarchy, the only thing that separates order from anarchy, as nations wage free-for-all-battle for survival and supremacy, is the military might of the United States, who are determined to keep the peace- whether other countries want them to or not.
But such unprecedented conflict worldwide requires as unprecedented of a military force. Enter the Remote Infantry Corps: robotic soldiers deployed in warzones around the world, controlled by human operators thousands of miles from the action. These Remote Infantry- dubbed Tin Men, are highly resilient machines, unfazed by fatigue and possessing of the intellect and decision making prowess only a trained soldier could provide. While the Tin Men are not indestructible, the soldiers piloting these machines have little to fear about possible injuries or sickness. Immune to injury and death, and seemingly untiring, this new breed of American warrior has a battlefield edge that's all but unstoppable. With their powerful new tools of war, the American military has forcefully begun policing the entire world, and bringing its anarchy to heel.
Or so it would seem.
When a routine patrol through the civil-war stricken streets of Syria goes awry and the men and women of the 1st Remote Infantry Division finds themselves cut off from headquarters, they must make a desperate push out of hostile territory towards home. However, such a daunting task is easier said than done, and far less simpler than originally believed.
With the men and women of the 1st Remote Infantry Division finding themselves facing up against foreign nations, sick and tired of being under the heel of American occupation; anarchists, ranks swelling with rocket-wielding “Bot Killers”; and even each other, it’s the worst possible time for the Tin Men to face their most crucial mission. An economic summit under terrorist attack, the U.S. president running for his life, and more, the Tin Men must take the fight to the next level—if they want to be the last combatants standing, and not the first of their kind to fall forever.
Plot and Context
Hello and welcome to the interest check for 'Tin Men', a military RP based in the alternate near-future, when America has become something of a Freedom enforcing equivalent of the schoolyard bully, forcing its will upon the smaller, less influential nations. In this alternate universe, organizations such as NATO, EU, the UN, etc still exist, but are considerably less powerful or influential. America is not the only major power in the world, however, due to the energy crisis and general economic crash the world is in, most countries tend to keep to themselves and look out primarily for their own interests. Thus America has taken upon itself the role of international peacekeeper, and have deployed its forces to various locations across the world- much to the chagrin of other nations.
Political intrigue aside, this RP will focus primarily on the struggles and tribulations of a single squad of the 1st Remote Infantry Division, as they struggle to survive in an increasingly hostile place. This RP will try to adhere to some sense of realism, and will aim to be a dark and gritty military RP- so if those aren't your cup of tea, this probably isn't the RP for you. I want this RP to focus on a relatively small group, so I'm going to try to put the character limit at 4-5 players total. As such, this RP is not first come, first served.
