Daud, meanwhile, has been at the rear of the group, ready to defend his comrades or slow down the attacks at any cost. In his element, he was being totally silent until Gregor spoke up about an escape route. Throwing him an incredulous look behind his visor, he lets out a scoff.

"And let these sycophants go on living outside the law? I think not, my comrade!" He shouted, keeping watch at the door.

However, it didn't take him long to consider that maybe staying and fighting wouldn't be the best idea. Sighing, he nods his head.

"Actually... Whatever you have up your sleeve, Gregor, perhaps it'd be prudent to hop to it!"

Yoshimi

@Nashie
There is someone else from behind the scenes? Yoshimi said, You mentioned another traitor didn't you that isn't Gotthard? Someone else?

Crossing her arms, she shook her head, she scrolled through the papers, before catching one. A small map, with a little island circled just south of the island masses in South Kokotha. I think I know where we've going next...

@Ember Storm
If you want to go on to the Old Path, that's fine. But I think I have another location in mind. She said, holding up the map. But in any case... What about her? Yoshimi said, clenching her fist, a slight growl in her voice. Come on, you're coming with-

As Yoshimi got ready to hit Galette across the face to take her with them, a large rift appeared in the room. A white slice in the fabric of space, leading to Yim. From it a large beetle-like creature burst out, its face resembling a rather human looking porcelain mask. There, riding on its back, was a short man, holding a large lance. Astrid was right. They were coming and fast.

Galette was been defeated? No matter... Don't run. This will be oversoon The man said, his voice very high pitched, his mount turning to face the group

Shit! Scratch that! Hold on to the plans tight and let's get out of here! Yoshimi shouted, already running. They couldn't stand and fight. There would be more to come and she didn't want to fight both a Elite and an Amalgamate.

Children's Beastmaster: Master Ku

Gregor

Meanwhile elsewhere...

@MercuryNH
Gustrag's room was just what one would expect; a large regal room befitting someone of high class and wealth. Journals, documents, and what looked to be business contracts were all present. Seems that Gustrag was the type of person to keep things documented.

Gregor held his pistol out, a white glow coming from it. Already, he was working on opening a rift to a dimension in Yim, the ultimate escape route. He had never done it under stress or in a rush. Before he had all the time in the world to do it and even then it was rather tough. Don't rush me, I know!

@hefewy
Don't cost us our lives or worse, knight... Gregor thought to himself, a bit annoyed. A-almost got it! There we go! Gregor said excited, his pistol sputtered and flickered... Then nothing. Gregor stared at the space directly in front of him, no emotion at all, then quickly turned to anger as he smacked at his pistol ...Or not. Come on, dammit!

They were running out of time...

Meanwhile in the courtyard of the villa, guests were gathered and restrained, the Children's Elite had gathered, only 5 of them were present, not counting their beastmaster down below. Among the Elite that had gathered was a tall man wielding a large mace, his body covered in what appeared to be plant life, and what looked like a wooden mask covering the top half of his face. Defusing of the situation is underway. I will go for Gustrag's room, the rest of you spread out and search for any more party members. The party crashers are to be killed on sight. Other partygoers are to be taken in for questioning... If any non-Children members possess classified knowledge, they are to be executed. Understood? Nodding, the other Elite's agreed and began to head out, their commander following soon after, but not before being interrupted by large man, standing before him.

Sallix! the man shouted, blocking his path, revealing himself to be the own of the manor: Gustrag. How dare you came before me... They have ruined my event and broke into the sanctity of my quarters. Now you rush in, like a flock of vultures upon a corpse?! I demand you to fix this situation without the use of your goons. You'll only make things worse!

I refuse, Gustrag. Sallix noted, slamming his mace to the ground. Suddenly, Gustrag began to feel an unseen force pressing down upon him, steadily getting heavier. You allowed this to happen. You wrote our names down in your little book. Your mistakes have costed us... And for that, the Queen has ordered your execution. The weight pressing down upon Gustrag began to get heavier and heavier. Before long, Sallix's power had crushed the man, like some sort of invisible press, leaving nothing but a bloody, messy indent in the ground. In any case... Onto important matters. Sallix said, making his rush for the Quarters where the heroes worked on their escape.

Johnny took one look at the abomination that had just rode in on his trusty bug steed and said one word.

Johnny seemed to fade into dust before the arthopodal cavalier's eyes, vape-a-porting to Yoshimi's position.

"Hurry it up, eh mate?" Duff called over from his position. "Wouldn't be surprised if they're on their bleedin' way!" He had taken cover around the corner in Gustrag's room, the barrel of his beloved rifle ready to fire down the corridor to the room they had just fought Xenan in. There's only so long I'll be able t'keep anyone offa yeh!"

Astrid scowled. "Oh for the love of Kodo'Yim," she said. Bringing her hands together, she pulled the Mist into a large, almost opaque cloud around the newcomer before igniting it with a dull roar. Turning to the door, she addressed her colleagues.
"Let us go." She was seething.

Her pack filled to the brim, Mercury nervously takes a look out the window, doing her best to stay out of sight while getting the best point of view she can. Naturally, what she sees is cause for concern.

"Gregor, if you could make this go any faster at all, it'd be greatly appreciated. These folks don't look too friendly..."

I hope you guys have an exit route in mind! Yoshimi shouted, as she began to make her way towards where they came. Stick to the narrow corridors! He shouldn't be able to follow us through there!

As the insect rider began to chase after them, the two of them would disappear with in a rift in Yim, unable to follow the group through the narrow corridors.

The exit is close, when we reach it do you have any escapes in mind in case we run into more trouble? Because I'd love to hear them.

While the cistern where they entered was in sight, there waiting in it was the Amalgamate Rider, having traveled through Yim to get there, waiting for them.

Gregor

@MercuryNH@Ember Storm
Gregor concentrate, he couldn't lose concentration for a single second, if he did he'd have to start all over. As he concentrated, he murmured a prayer, a common chant used by worshipers of Dualism. "Oh Strong Father Kodo, protect me with your shield and your spear, oh Kind Mother Yim, wrap me in your gentle embrace, oh Kodo'Yim, the two gods who are one, guide me in the best and the worst of times."

Then, out from Gregor's gun came a flash of light, opening up a white rift in space. Go! He shouted, motioning towards it. They won't be able to find us here! As Gregor shouted, Sallix was closing in on the group, dragging his heavy weapon behind him. You guys go through first!

"Astrid an' I can get back up th' cliff the same way we came down, but...."

And there was that horrid abomination again. Johnny had no patience for this Blattodeic bullshit, so he was just gonna run right through Master Ku if he could.

He drew his wakazashi and went into a full tilt run, making little platforms of ice under his feet so that he could effectively leap at Master Ku and deal one hell of a savage blow with his blade.

Astrid didn't miss a beat when Johnny attacked. Pulling on her Brand, she began to suck the moisture out of the air behind their adversary and his beetle-Amalgamate. The result of this was clever: A breeze began to push Johnny along faster, insuring that his blade would impact with even more force. As well, as the mist she was moving about condensed, all of that energy had to go somewhere, and something would heat up. She chose to see just how hot she could make the atmosphere around their opponent - not only would the temperature increase, but the condensation would also cloud his vision. Johnny could complete his attack and the two women should be able to skirt past a hopefully blinded Child before the steam cleared. Clean and clear. Hopefully.

"He's on 'is way!" Duff called over as Gregor's portal popped into existence. Upon the conman's directives, Duff lingered just long enough to fire a single Voidtip down the hallway, hoping to slow the knight enough for the quartet to escape. The soldier had no idea what their new adversary was capable of, and he didn't intend to stick around long enough to find out. Unsure of what would happen to him - a non-Caster - through the portal, but also lacking any time for self-debate, Duff ran through.

@Nashie@Ember Storm
As Johnny would fly towards the amalgamate and rider, a large pair of chitinous growths would rise up from the beetle amalgamate's back. Despite their thin appearance, they proved to be an adequate shield for the small rider. The blade would slash through the organic shield and strike the rider for minimized damage, nearly knocking him off. Then, as the cloud of steam would form, he'd be left blinded, looking for the group.

Hurry! I'll be the last one through! Yoshimi shouted, heading for one of the walls, close to the entrance. Waiting for the others to pass through, she would rear back with a punch and hit the wall. Blocking off the exit. ...And hopefully bringing the roof down on the rider. As the wall and chunks of the roof began to collapse down, Yoshimi would hurry through the exit to join the others.

Avoiding the collapsing ceiling, Ku growled, his targets escaped. His mount large enough to clear the rubble in the way, but too large to go through the pipe. Queen... I have failed you...

Gregor

@Ember Storm
Sarcastically saluting the Children's knight with a grin and a flick of his hand, Gregor jumped through his rift, entering Yim.

The world in question was significantly smaller than one would expect from a pocket dimension within Yim. As a matter of fact it looked like it was only meant for 1 person, not 4. Looked to be a small office, with a chair and record player in the center of the room.

A large painting of Gregor sat at the back of the room, dressed in a fine suit, and looking much younger and smooth. They say that a dimension in Yim is affected by the creator's ego... But this was something else.

The rift closed up, leaving the group safe on the other side. Panting, Gregor stood up, brushing himself off. So uh... We all good...?

As the cistern crumbled behind them. Johnny faced the spot where he'd last seen Master Ku, still stanced for a fight. Once he was sure that the creepy fuck wasn't coming after them, he sheathed his weapons, leaned himself against the wall of the pipe and let out a loud "Whew!"

"How're you two holdin' up?"

"Uh... About as good as I could be, I guess... I cleaned out the fat bastard's desk, basically. My pack is loaded with stuff that looks important, and we're not dead. Seems like things went relatively well..."

For them, at least. She examines the small room for a moment, though her expression seems a bit vacant. Now that she has a moment to breathe, she realizes just how worried about their situation she really was. That could have easily resulted in death. Thankfully, Gregor's quick thinking had gotten them out alive, and now her thoughts drift to the other team, more specifically Yoshimi.

>Dammit, they'd better have made it out okay...

Astrid dusted off her shoulders. "I could be better," she said before scowling. "Damn dhe Children! We lost a man and dhere will be many more deadhs to come if we do not do something!" As much as she didn't consider herself a part of the Old Path anymore, someone needed to make sure they knew that everything was just a front for the Children. She glanced back at the pile of rubble. "Let us be moving."

@Patches
@MercuryNH
"Not that I know of, lass," Duff said, rubbing the wounds in his arm. "They're tough cookies, though. Should be fine." He looked over at Gregor. "Not gonna say I'm not grateful yeh got us outta there what with that tree-lookin' fellow comin' at us, but yeh sure yeh couldn't've gotten a bigger room? 'Sides the point, where even are we? Never been through a hole in the air into an office b'fore."

He glanced around, noting the decor and thinking on the unusual method they got here. "Aw, Forest no. This is that friggin' magic world, eh? On'y thing I can think of it bein'. Mate, am I gonna be all right here?"

@Nashie@Ember Storm
Panting, Yoshimi commented on the situation Tired. My arms are hurting. She said, removing her gloves. Her knuckles are hands were bruised. These gloves needed more tweeking to prevent damage to herself. Doing a quick stretch as she headed for the exit, she asked the others We... Have a get away vehicle right? Might have to wait til all the Children are gone. They would leave right? There weren't going to hang around at the manor all this time were they? NOt gonna lie... But I can go for a rest right about now.

They still had things to do. Gotthard was still out there somewhere. They knew where he was. They just had to go there... But she was by no means ready for such a thing.

Gregor

@MercuryNH
Good. Information on whatever they're working on. The identities of the Children. Anything was good. Gregor said reaching into his coat pockets, pulling out a few trinkets. Gold, jewelry, and something resembling a spyglass. I snagged a few things from the party back there, couldn't help myself. They say honor among thieves, but honor isn't my thing.

Gregor chuckled, trying to add a bit of humor to the situation, but quickly, his tone turned into a more serious, empathetic one, almost like Gregor was talking to a student or child he was proud of. But uh... Glad you did all that. You took more of a risk than any of us and it paid off in the end.

@Ember Storm
But then, once Duff started talking, Gregor swapped out for his usual tone Hey, you try to make a world within Yim! That's right, ya can't! Brushing himself off, he sat down in one of the chairs, switching the record player on, But yes, you're in Yim, the world of magic. A pocket dimension I created. I'm not talented at it, but it's the most I can do with my skills. This is the place I go when the heat gets bad... Either the law or the occasional guy I owe money to. Unless they search through Yim, we're safe here... So what do you say we lay low and head back to the Wick?

He came here to take advantage of the party and the guests, not get involved with action like this. A bit much for him, but he'd be lying if the adrenaline rush didn't excite him a bit.

Gregor's praise does a little to help ease Mercury's slowly ebbing nervousness. As much as she pulled from Gustrag's desk, there's bound to be something in that pack that's useful. She hopes they can get it into the right hands without any extra resistance. Hearing that they have no way to contact the other team, however, does not help her nerves at all.

"Shit... There's no way we can help them at this point either, is there?"

Deep within Yim, beyond the veil of the physical world, lied a dimension of tall, crooked trees and rivers of pale red liquid. A hostile, stagnant swamp, that stretched as far as the eye could see. In the sky, a grey stone illuminated the area. Very few things called this place their home, and even less could survive day by day. Strong amalgamates, who were suited to survive in the red swamp, lead under the flag of a S-ranked Amalgamate. Weaker Amalgamates, who found themselves hunted and slaughtered by the stronger ones. Then, in a black tower, and several bunkers dotting the landscape, the Children of Kodo'Yim, who called the place their home.

Xenan. Sallix said, It's time to meet with her. The green knight's tone carried little emotion, maybe leaning slightly towards concern or fear.

His back to Sallix, Xenan watched as a group of Amalgamates hunted each other down, the strong hunting the weak, the weak trying for their lives to fight back. Physical world or magic world, nature was all the same. Replying, Xenan was nonplussed, paying more attention to his view than the topic at hand. ...And? You think I'm afraid?

The mission to stop the intruders at the Gustrag Manor was a failure and the Queen wishes to speak with us-

The Queen would never punish her Elite. It was out of our hands. Gustrag is the one at fault here. Xenan said, beginning to move out. You fear the Queen, Sallix. Most of all you fear failure. Unlike you, I don't fear either.

Silently shaking his head, the green knight followed Xenan. Down to the ground level of the tower, down to the subbasement, through a long tunnel leading to a large gate. Waiting here was the other two Elites. The amalgamate rider, Master Ku, and the illusionist, Gallette. We've been waiting. The Queen is getting impatient. Master Ku barked, annoyed at the two's tardiness. With a huff, he pushed open the gates, into the QUeen's chambers.

The Queen's chambers possessed a similar appearance to the rest of the world. A large, ankle deep pool of red liquid, gnarled roots and vines growing on the walls, on the room was the same type of stone that illuminated the sky of the outside. Even though they were underground, the whole room was almost identical to the outside. Hmph... You two took too long. Looks like she's asleep. Master Ku said, stepping through the crimson pool, pointing to a large, ornate throne in the center of the room.

Then wake me Came a deep voice. The red liquid that cover the floor began to shift and undulate. All of it, moving and condensing into one spot, even the droplets that splashed on the Elite's clothes as they entered moved with the rest of the pool, all of it condensing into a thick red blob. Then, the red blob began to shift and twist, shake and bubble. The red liquid became flesh, blood becoming skin and teeth, transforming from a simple ball of blood, into a towering biomass of bone, flesh, muscle, and organs. Then, it transformed once more, condensing down, smoothing itself out. Multiple mouths closing up, leaving only a single one where a human's mouth should be. It began to take on a more human shape, or rather, a more beastkin shape. The form the biomass had transformed into was unmistakable for your average beastkin woman in Kokotha, a petite frame, a pair of ram like horns, standing bare before the 4 elites, she smirked, speaking in a much more effeminate voice than the earlier words. Bow before your Queen.

Children's Leader: The Laughing Queen

Like clockwork, the 4 bowed down, each of them taking a knee, and bowing their heads, as the queen sat on her throne. Almost in sync, they were at her mercy. My Queen... Galette spoke, shaking.

Silence. The Queen said, her voice haughty in tone, So tell me two things, Sallix. Just two things... What was your mission and how did it go?

To stop the thievery of the information at Manor Gustrag... It ended in failure. Both groups escaped, one through Yim and the other from where they came.

Exactly. Truer words could not be said: "A failure." She shook her head, Next, tell me, Xenan. The coup with Gotthard? What was the plan and what was the result?

Very well, my Queen. He started his own group to break away from the Old Path. We used him, in order to cause fights amongst the Old Path and possibly the other factions of Kokotha. To weaken them... It resulted in failure as well, my Queen.

Very well. Thank you, Xenan. But don't see this one as a failure on only your part, but mine as well. She said, getting up from her throne to approach Xenan. After all, I did spark it. Came to Gotthard with promises of power. Infiltrated the Old Path~ She said with a smirk, They needed a Queen figure to listen to after all and Gotthard wanted power~ Oh but he got his and is left a shell of a broken man, hiding out somewhere in the wild. We created a ripple here, not a splash, remember that, my Children. The Queen approached her throne once more. Rise up!

Then, as quickly and synchronized as they bowed the Elites rose up, My Elites! Let this be your lesson. Spread the word to the other Elites. Spread it to the rest of the Children. We don't accept failure, we take it from its mantle, and gain strength from it. We learn from it. Many of your identities our out, use this to grow better at hiding. You failed in combat, use it to grow stronger. We are the future of Magic and Yim. A world that will slowly fade.

As the Queen made her speech, the 4 saluted her. In tandem, announced their mantra, Serve the Queen, Follow the King, We are the Children of Kodo'Yim.

Thus, in her heart, the Queen only felt ambition.

Back at a quiet diner in South New Wickborough, Gregor sat gazing out the window, transfixed on the people passing by the window. He ordered a "breakfast for lunch" meal. Nothing improved his tired spirit like some breakfast meets eaten in the afternoon. Ever since the attack on Gustrag's place, he had been taking it easy. So much faction in one day left him tired the following days. But, he had spent those days planning things out; planning his next "get rich quick" scheme, plans that he hoped would one day get off the ground, and even a plan to possibly exploit the Drekka, one that he could get away with.

Reaching into his coat pocket, he removed a object that looked like an old spy glass, the type of thing that a maritime sailor would use to spy islands or boats far away from the ship; it was one of the things he managed to snatch off the tables back at the manor. From the looks of it, it was very old too. Showing signs of age all over, it was no longer able to collapse for easier storage due to the wear on the parts. Inspecting it for a bit, Gregor put it back in his pocket.

Should Gregor be paying enough attention, it turns out he would notice one of his partners from that very same job that had left him so tired. A young, crimson-maned monk makes her way to the entrance of the diner, eager to partake in something she got to have so rarely. Though, even as rare at is it is for her now, it still happens more than it did during her childhood. She's seated nearby, and seems to have the same idea as Gregor, ordering a breakfast meal instead of typical lunch fare. It takes a few moments before she realizes who she's been seated near.

"Huh... Didn't think we'd end up seeing each other again."

Now here was a friendly face he was happy to meet. The girl whose dexterous nature helped them in the final leg of their invasion on Gustrag Manor. Putting on a smile, Gregor sat up in a more formal posture, as opposed to his lazy slump. New Wickborough is a hub for many people. I'm not too surprised.

Pushing his plate forward a bit, he offered a bit of his meal, trying to make small talk with the monk. Want a piece of bacon? I'm not hungry anymore

"Fair. I was expecting to see Yoshimi sooner than you, though."

She turns down his offer with a slight raise of her hand and a gentle shake of her head. As much as she enjoys a good fried strip of pig, she has her own order of it on the way.

"Gotta maintain the figure, y'know? Can't have too much of the stuff, no matter how tasty it is."

She gives her exposed stomach a playful pat with her comment.

"So what've you been up to since the last time we met?"
