Greetings, I suppose...

So as the title suggests I am plagued by a creative writer's block. I've the wherewithall to create characters and potentially generate ideas. I've been able to do some level of background work in the form of descriptive mapwork and partial background creation for a world setting. But when it comes to actually performing through a thread I can't even get the interest or drive to write a post. Or even write a page... I find it difficult to commit to an idea or a thread. So please any help? Conversation? Et cetera...anything?

Seriously though. It's different for everyone. Sometimes writers get tired of writing and need a break from it. But writing -something- tends to be the best way for me to get over writer's block. :3

YES! This is a tip straight from Mr. King himself. And a multitude of writing groups.

When you have writer's block, there are two things to do.

1. Don't think about it for a while. Do something else and come back to it. Take a walk, watch some show, etc.

2. Write whatever comes to mind! Doesn't matter if it makes sense, or if there's a purpose to it! Open up a blank word program and just write small random situations! Just whatever comes to mind!

Kinda like how you try to think of a song artist's name but can't and it's on the tip of your tongue. Best way to think of it is to think of other things!

For me I get through writer's block by just sort of taking a break from writing or actually watching/ reading something with a lot of compelling and dynamic character development. This in turn usually makes me want to write something equally as interesting. So pretty much admiring different forms of art can help snap me out of it by inspiring me!

Writer's block is the bane of us creative types!

I had a professor once tell me that writer's block didn't exist and that I should keep writing no matter what, but I don't believe the solution is that simple. I think there's an in-between with it. I think you should keep writing despite the writer's block just to keep your mind rolling with some ideas, even if you think they're messy. Take small breaks, but never 100% detach yourself from what you're working on. Having friends to spitball ideas at also helps a lot. Always remember what may seem stupid to you may seem great to others. Music is also a god-sent for coming up with ideas.

@Master

Well, it has been satiated. However, this website is making my effort quite disappointing. A rather compelling story for people to interact in; however, it would seem that given people aren't familiar with my face they are lax to join the thread I've worked on. In a singular writing it would make a phenominal story, which is exactly what I may end up doing if nothing pans out. Otherwise, I'll be withdrawing the idea should it not lay anchor and make an attempt at a Nation-RP before giving up on this website all together for any writing needs.

I appreciate your concern.

for me when I get writers block, I go to a completely different style of rp. If I am stuck on slice of life I will start roleplaying a scifi fantasy or medieval fantasy setting. I will draw inspiration from another source entirely to continue the one I am stuck on.

Writers block gets me a lot of the time, I think it is just one of those things. I go about different ways to push passed it. Music is a huge thing that helps. Movie's, TV Shows, books on the same theme help as well. Biggest though is like others have stated - Just start writing. Don't think just write, the more I write the easier it becomes, even if it is totally off topic eventually I get back on track.
