Yes, aha, I live in a totally different time zone to most. It is currently 12.30am here and I am on my mobile. So...

@ihinka I like her. If you want to finish the relationship part, I would say that is perfect. Don't worry about justifying the Captain position in the CS, we can reveal all that in the RP. Once you have done the Relations bit feel free to post your first IC post :)

@Old Amsterdam I don't think it is too powerful in power respects, I think the issue I am having is it would give one side possibly too much if an advantage. At the start of this RP, it is going to be small groups of subterfuge, and having those kind of powers tilts the scales a little too much, so after reading if, I would push you to possibly try another power? That is if you are still interested. If not I understand.

I kinda love Old Amsterdam's power idea. Just seems like there'd need to be upper limits of some sort so that we still get drama out of confrontation between PCs.

Eh, why not :)

Got a work in progress as I decide what would be good for him :D

Val Coriptus

The Ascension is upon us, and when it comes, you self-righteous vermin be the ones left behind

Name: Val Coriptus
Gender: Male
Age: 37
Alignment: Dark Shadow
Rank within Organisation: Second In Command

Birthmark Shape: The shape can be best described as a detailed outline of his bicep.
Location of Birthmark: Left bicep and shoulder.
Magical Abilities: Telekinesis - Starting out as a tool for general living, as his ideology grew and moulded, so do did his ability's purpose and effectiveness. While it is more often than not used for convenience, the most notable demonstrations of his ability has been when subduing another individual. He commonly forces the human in the air while he is free to extract whatever information he likes from them. While effective, the caveat to using it on a human is that it requires his full concentration, meaning he cannot subdue multiple people, and that his guard is vulnerable.

Memory Extraction: Placing his hand upon a subject's face allows the two of them to enter the same mind, giving Coriptus the opportunity to explore their memories and extract whatever information he desires. However, the extraction happens in real time, and there is a small possibility that the experience leaves his victims mentally broken.

Place of Birth: Toronto, Canada
Currently Residing: New York City, New York, USA
Personality: Coriptus has been described in the past as a conscientious individual, having a careful attention to detail and having a solid work ethic, regardless of the situation he is placed in. He is often described as a team leader in past careers, being able to observe a situation and act on it accordingly.

But despite these qualities, underneath the charismatic individual lies a cruel, sadistic interior. He sees his tortuous actions as righteous and just, and his hatred for the Guild's nepotistic history is well documented.

History/Bio:
Val was born into the well respected Coriptus family as the only child and heir to the family. Both parents were magical users and had taken great pride in their contribution to the Guild, through resources from their front company, to information regarding possible rule breakers in the society.

Val's upbringing was one built on the respect and care for everyone around him, with his lessons built on understanding the society's rules and the fear that non-magic kind may have if elements beyond their understanding is revealed. Even as his powers were developing, his parents continued with their lessons, teaching him that the negative consequences of his power meant that it shouldn't be used under any circumstances.

Unfortunately, his parents were killed in a terrorism incident during a tradeshow, leaving Val as the sole owner of the company and the last member of the Coriptus dynasty. Knowing his lack of business skill and saddened by the loss of his only family, he sold his stake for a sizeable fortune. He kept to himself, living off the interest and rarely made an appearance.

But despite his parents's upbringing, Val held a secret resentment. He held a hatred for the Guild for their weak response to the incident that killed his parents, in addition to their line of succession neglecting leadership ability. With the death of his parents, his resentment for the non-magic kind for their inherently violent nature grew to the point that he started honing his craft on them. His telekinetic abilities became more refined, and his journey into their memories left many insane.

While he was kept on the Guild's radar, he mostly stayed out of their way until recently, when he became involved with Dark Shadow. His influence and his skills with the group lead him to become second-in-command, but has had a hands-off approach to the group, though he is not against getting involved if need be.

Relationships
Name: Aloysius Leighton
Relationship: Warm
Characters opinion of them: Corpitus is in open co-operation with Leighton, both agreeing that magical users are inherently superior, but their personalities often clash on non-magic users, especially when it comes to their relationship with the parents. The two work well, but it is known that their opinions clash.

Name: Rose Miller
Relationship: Hates
Characters opinion of them: Coriptus loathes Rose, due to gaining influence through inheritance and not through demonstration of leadership. He believes she got to the position through nepotism, and isn't afraid to voice that.

@LHudson I find him very interesting but as it's an application for Dark Shadow I will let Jake make his requests of the character.

How would y'all feel about changing it up a bit?

Keep Death's Input, Death's Touch, because the latter would be easy to defeat while still paying problems and allowing hijinks.

Axe the doll ability to transfer damage, or make it watered down so you'd practically have to destroy it completely to kill someone. Perhaps even a kickback to [name] in a psychological measure.

Or simply remove the dolls aspect, and rely on the Imps. These things all take time to create, I should note, as well as energy.

I could perhaps go with keeping Death's Input and Death's Touch, following up with:
Death's Sensors: [name] can, with concentration and being within 50m of the Imp, see through a single Imp's eyes, hear what they hear, etc etc. Best used for recon.

And finally, and this one I understand if it's a no go...
Death's Scythe: Upon gathering DANA from a target, and having an understanding of them from Death's Input, [name] can enter a mediation state. This takes time, effort, and cannot always work if the target is protected magically. Once fully entranced, [name] can merge her aura and theirs, and inflict minor harm onto their physical body, or cause mental strain like paranoia, depression, etc. This comes at a price, however: all harm done to another is done unto [name], though in a smaller property.

Would that be a not acceptable concept?

If not, I do understand. And that just means I'll begin working on a new concept. ^^

Seeing how Ro's an Irish lass I don't think she can have any relationships with the current cast, but still if you guys want to discuss any preexisting relationships, I'm open. For now I'm just gonna fill her relations sheet with 'unknown' or 'familiar with'.

Paulie is a member of an eclectic community of creatives. It seems reasonable she'd have read at least one of O'Shae's books as an up'n comer in the writing world. Do you approve?

--

As for O'Shae's knowledge of Paulie: if any, I'd say it's a little better than a coin toss that O'Shae has at least heard of Poet because of her rank as Captain. The implication is that most Guild members living in the Eastern U.S. or visiting for at least a few weeks have heard of Poet as a lost soul that needs to be found. In some circles, Alexandra Cooper is a menace whose activities have been just visible enough since she escaped their care that she could expose the magical community at any time. These people know exactly who she is and what she looks like.

No problem, I'll work on coming up with something else then. ^^

Give me a bit of time to think, and I'll try and get back to you within a few days.

Edit:
Also, what faction do you need more PCs for? As in, who has less at this moment?

@FrankenDaughter I was actually thinking that with her being Captain in the Guild, it would be better for her to write under a nom de plume. Plus she's a private kinda person As for if Paulie would have read something of hers, regardless of knowing it's actually hers, I don't know. She's a niche writer, mystical/fantasy/fantastical with a touch of romance for good measure lesbian novels.

She's never been to the States. Mainly Eastern Europe and mostly Bulgaria, visiting with Mihaela. So who knows, if it's Guild knowledge about Poet, then I'll defer to the Guild leader Same with Alexandra Cooper's abduction and history. I'm not sure how the different country chapters of the Guild work and how centralized the information is.

@ihinka

I took O'Shae's background as a cue for what kind of novels she might write. Seems like I guessed well, but the nom de plume makes perfect sense. Neither Paulie nor her friend circles would be superfans--rather, they wouldn't be invasive enough to try and find out who O'Shae might actually be behind the author persona.

Also I mistakenly thought O'Shae was already in NYC for the first time and wanted to account for how long she might've been there. Seems super unlikely O'Shae would know of Poet at the start of the story, or anything else, barring super cool things @codex is planning that I don't know about.

I wouldn't consider this a complete CS application, but it covers most everything to see about approval and what might need changed.

Also, anything in particular you'd like History to cover outside of the basics I have below?

Is taking lieutenant alright? I was gonna add history about that, but I didn't want to go too in depth without approval and y'all giving input.

Temporarily using The Artist as a code name until I can come up with better.
