Carver here.
I suggest a slow sweep with a steady formation and a close watch of your flank. Keep my birds scouting when they can. This is their territory and I'm sure they have got the home side advantage.

Carver out.

Damn... Must be Murl and his boys. I warned them not to head out there, but they didn't listen. Just had to head up to the mines.

Alright. I'll have to worry about them later. We got a couple tylium mines out there in the mountains. I've ordered them shut down for this op, so there shouldn't be any civies out there. We need to avoid any collateral damage unless you guys want a bunch of suits breathing down your neck. Those mines might be a fine place to start looking.

Me and my boys we'll keep watch at Koav's landing. We're not making the big bucks like you lot anyhow.

And if you happen to find Murl, get him back in one peace, would ya.

Federation Dispatched to Koatev

2995.11.12

Koatev - A rise in insectoid activity has prompted the Bernard Colonial Government to dispatch the Federation to Raphurt's moon, Koatev, in the Bernard's Star system.

Commander Davidson of Manny's Mechs leads the force with Nought Contracted Bio-Warfare providing heavy armaments and medical support. Reports also indicate that Lantallian Mercenaries Guild has provided air support for the mission.

Commander Manny Davidson

E.R.I.S. has indicated that bugs have been detected by the Federation. According to reports, mining operations have been disrupted, and a convoy attacked. This is just the most recent in a string of attacks that have left eight colonists dead and many more in fear. Governor Goldman of the Bernard's Star colonies has appealed for calm, stating; "...this is just an isolated incident."

There has been no indication at the size of the insectoid hive, but there may be a source. Marshall Ricks of the Bernard Colonial Militia has stated that juice runners may have brought bugs from Helix Nova. Arrest records do indeed indicate that traffickers frequent Koatev.

One can't helped but be alarmed at this new development. Trafficking bugs poses a huge risk to humanity.

More on the story as it develops.

Alright then so we know where they probably are, but we still aren't sure how strong they are. Since they live inside the mountain itself, I don't think we'll be able to learn anything useful with people scouting from the air alone. Does anyone own a stealth suite? I think we might learn more if we had people on the ground and the bugs can't kill what they don't even realize is there.

There are currently no stealth suites being utilized on Koatev, Commander.

I'm afraid I don't own a stealth suite, though I can afford to have one recruited if need be (you wouldn't be willing to pay for half of it, would you, Carver?). The only problem there is whether or not they arive on time. Thoughts?

E.R.I.S., can we get a scale on the marshall's map? I want to know how long it'd take for a medical team to get from Koav's Landing to either of the mines on their own.

Considering the fact that we aren't working on a time limit, I'd say we could wait for it to get here and still have plenty of time to spare. Also, I think Carver's had enough of his money taken from him for the time being. I can afford to go half with you though. I don't mind if it means we can get people sneaking around the mountains on foot.

I'm afraid it will be at least another two weeks before a stealth suite can arrive, not to mention the time it would take to adequately train in its use. Logistically it is not feasible, Commander Nought.

The surface area of the operation map of Koav's Landing is 375 kilos squared. Travel between Koav's Landing and the Broen Mountains would take approximately two hours and forty-five minutes using Militia vehicles. However, White Sun Logistics can make the transport outside five minutes.

Looks like scouting on foot isn't an option then. I guess all we can do is hope the hive isn't that strong. Unless anyone has another idea.

I'd say scouting on foot is our only option, Commander, unless of course you plan on sitting on your thumbs and waiting for the next bug attack.

If y'all planing to go to the mines, I doubt your mechs would be much good to ya - all those narrow tunnels, ya see. But what do I know. I spend my days nabbing drug runners and breaking up bar fights. Y'all the experts.

Well since stealth is out of the question, I guess I'll try throwing everything I have at the problem instead. I'll have everyone under my command head for the mountains. Once there, they'll go where they can, find what they can, and kill what they can.

Carver here.
Just going through the updates.

Pick one mine at a time, start on the left.
Place the mechs and tank as close as they can get and up high. Create a retreat spot for your troops should they need it. A bug ambush.
Make sure they don't hesitate high-tailing it out of there.
Every so often my fighter will do a pass of the other mine and check for activity.

Good hunting.
Carver out.

Hi Marshal,
Quick question.

How many people have been lost due to bug attacks and how frequent have they been. This might give some idea to their numbers. Is there much wildlife in those mountains?

Well sir, 8 folks got killed, and Murl and his crew are missing. Most were in Skillae Ridge. Nothing lives in the mountains, but the foothills teem with geeks, or centaurian geckos as you might know them. Now that I think about it, I haven't seen one in a while.
