Okay, so I got asked a good question recently... "What makes a GM bad?" Well... I noticed the list can be rather long and it's not really them being a bad GM in general, but more so them doing bad things to kill their own RP without realizing it.

So... I thought this might be a fun little game and discussion. Let's list 1000 things that a GM could do wrong to be deemed as a bad GM in their RPs... a list for GMs to see and know what they shouldn't do too many times in their RPs. After we get our 1000th GM Sin I'll add them all together and place it in an article for all to see and read. Don't worry though, I'll be giving credit where it is due, every sin you write, I'll place your username next to it so all will know. :)

1) A GM should never just blindly accept CSs just because the person(s) is their friend(s).

2) a Gm shouldn't make over 15 rules unless the Rp needs over 15 and should hear out the ideas that other rpers have.

If you don't mind me adding another

3) Gms should inform their co-gms of the where the story will be going in case something happens to them in the future.

6) GMs should not drink and write.

7) GMs who decide to use GMPCs should probably not make them capricious loners.

8) GMs should not auto-accept characters they find to be visually attractive, because that personality section there specifically states they're capricious loners.

9) GMs should probably have a thing against capricious loners. They make for non-functional parties.

10) GMs should probably proofread their posts, especially if they were drinking or high that night so as to avoid waking up the next morning with a splitting migraine to a flood of messages asking why a fairy and a unicorn suddenly appeared in the grimdark universe he made for his capricious loner...

11) *Bonus* People who play as capricious loners exclusively should not be GMs. Double if they immediately find the nearest romantic interest and smother it with angst.

It was late at night when I made this thread, so I forgot to mention that you can add additions (4.5) to your sins and exceptions (4.A)

"4) GMs need to give out warnings not just kick them right away for breaking a rule." (Except members break major rules [Dissing the RP or having obvious sex posts in the IC])
12) GMs need to be patient and understanding of their members

13) GMs should not sex...EVER. (we all know the only reason players sex with GMs is to get in their pants to become crucial.... For favoritism)

14) Gms should not give his/her "superior other" in the RP extra benefits because they are having Cyber sex ( Unless the plot demands it... which is never)

15) A GM should not be getting PM blowjobs by the other players who are not romancing with the GM.

16) A GM should never give blowjobs to other players and beg for special treatment & benefits... (wut?)

17) People who have their character's sex the GM should be killed off because "plot demands it."

18) One does not simply kill other players because "plot demands it".

19) Gm's don't usually mention rules, but when they do, they usually do it so they don't get their asses kicked. ( What I'm meaning is Gms that don't follow the rules. and only refer to them when they are in a jam are bad Gms.)

20) Gms that make Pc, shouldn't be Marty or Mary sues

Also just to add another meme to this,

Go into Strip club with bag of quarters.....Make it HAIL !!!!!!!!

Hope you don't mind me adding on, Brovo:
9.5) GMs should be willing to personally write with any character that isn't interacting with others to bring them into the storyline.

21) GMs should ensure that players with characters heading for death get warned if they're about to do so. Nothing is worse than realizing your last post put your character directly on the chopping block for the GM's next action post.
21A) Exception: Tabletop/rolls-based RPing. Bad rolls are bad rolls, too bad and better luck next time.

22) Once the OOC thread is started, the GM should not shut down an RP before it begins except in the case of extraneous circumstances (real life, etc). The failure of players to transfer from the IntChk to OOC is not the fault of the players, and GMs should not be opening an OOC without adequate interest.

23) GMs should never drink and drive in RL...

24) GMs should never vent their anger on their players ( Unless the players are fucking morons and pissing the GM off... then you have all rights to kill)

25) Don't get offended... the players feed off of it.

26) Gms shouldn't force rpers to join their rp out of anger or fear of it dying.

27) Gms shouldn't be angry that their rpers aren't posting in their rp and are focusing on other rps

28) GMs should focus on the RPs they make, or not make one at all
29) GMs are to have no social life whatsoever (If you're a GM with a girlfriend... it's time to tell her you have a new girl... and her name is "-insert RP name here-")

*Tosses stuff in*

30) GMs should post consistently, and not just disappear off the face of the earth. If they need to be away for some time, they should warn their players on the OOC.

31) GMs should shoot their players a warning if they aren't posting at all. A GM has the right to kick out inactive members or usher their characters along.

32) GMs should be nice to their players, but should enforce the rules that have been set.

33) A GM should try to make the RP as fun as they can for everyone involved. (^w^)/

34) GMs should not keep too many things secret from their players. Some secrets are good, but too many, and the players cannot move the plot much without direct GM assistance.
34.214) Most GM secrets should be from the player characters, not from the players themselves.

35] A GM should avoid spending too much time on the OP and too little on advancing the story.

I am guilty of the above mistake.

38) GMs should not control other people's characters (unless said other people have given GM permission to control their characters) It just leads to confusion and being overwhelmed on the part of those whose characters were hijacked.

39) GMs should not flame, or encourage others to flame, another person who is interested in the RP. Even if that person has no idea of how to create a well-balanced character and winds up making a complete Mary-Sue.

42) There has never been, and most likely will never be, a time when any version of the sentence "My character is an utter psychopath and enjoys nothing more than violently and mercilessly killing everything in sight" has appeared in a character sheet which should be considered for any form of group RP. This should be a red flashing neon 'DANGER' sign that this player will fuck up your RP and every RP you ever make again, and his CS should be shot into space with a modified potato gun.
