@Zetsuko Yeah not a problem. I was hoping initially that the initial engagements wont be too crazy at least for now. Just want everyone to get a decent foundation but don't worry

@Thecrash20 All good, no worries

I promise I won't kill anyone unless they scratch my ship. Tac Ops cruiser is about sitting, waiting, and observing rather than waging traditional war. I make zero guarantees of mercy if someone takes the first shot however. The tactical prognosis of an Imperial Star Destroyer versus most of the other forces at play are ... grim.

Shouldn't be too bad unless we're trying to operate on feats rather than what works for the RP. If we're going by actual feats well I probably wouldn't be picking the Asari. :

@Hillbilly12 Well the Asari actually are pretty redeeming in terms of the power of the individual. A very brief tactical analysis suggests that they may be lacking in the space force department, but in an infantry vs infantry battle against even the Covenant, they would be more than a match.

In case you haven't figured out, sci-fi theorycrafting is more addicting for me than cocaine so I could honestly write about 3000 words in response to you, but it's midnight here and I should be getting to bed and I don't want to drop that wall of text all at once. :P Thus I'll save doing tactical analyses of all our factions currently in play & ideas about relative power scaling for later.

On the ground I agree to an extent. Asari would be ridiculous in squad on squad action. However when heavy weapons and vehicles come out they tend to enjoy giving the enemy territory then picking them off as they take over. Could work depending on how strong both forces are since like 5 commandos made over a hundred people surrender at one point.

Yeah in space its different since if we go with Legends Star Wars then the Asari are done due to limited protection against DEWs. Of course they could do their old strat against the Reapers by just jumping in with their ftl, blow something up then leave. Rinse and Repeat until everything's dead or the enemy is too frustrated to stay. Then again I'm positive the GM doesn't want space combat to be like that in this. In any case we know non of us can instagib anyone's capital ships anyway due to the rules.

Just so we are clear, capital shits aren't invincible or anything its just I figured nobody wants to argue about whose capital ships are "superior" and who should be beating who simply because lore says so.

I know I figured as much its why I said that anyway. Certain Covenant ships could take out say the biggest capital ship from the faction I just posted in one or two hits, but there are some limitations already placed in the RP to prevent instant death. Still wouldn't want to start fights unnecessarily.

Should we make a discord for this? Could make it easier to communicate with each other.

That unfortunate typo though ....

I'm an avid scifi writer and studying game developer. Solving balance problems is second nature to me. This particular case is a fun exercise even if it's purely an OOC thought experiment. :)

I'm gonna make the geth faction but I need to know if you are the Asari before or after the reaper war? I need to know so I know if my geth will be able to function with complete autonomy or not.

@BKburke Can't you just handwave something with Quarian history to pick whichever you want?

@Sierra I believe it was reaper code that made them fully sentient.

@Zetsuko

It was, and after the reaper controlling them died, legion saved the code without the reaper control and downloaded it to the geth consensus.

Made an Asari species that's basically pre Citadel races, but they have the tech of modern Asari. Didn't want to involve the entirety of the Citadel races due to someone else picking a ME faction.

Either way the Geth were always capable of functioning without Reaper upgrades. As long as they had enough programs within a platform they were able to reach sapience in their own way. Geth platforms only start to act differently when too many programs stayed away from the collective for too long. Its actually more interesting to me than just making them their own individuals but that's just another reason for me to rage at ME3./Saltiness

I guess it matters if you want an easier way to portray certain Geth with very very distinctive personalities.

I know. Geth could function with 100 units in one platform. Under the reaper upgrades though, the were better in combat situations. I always thought it was more interesting in a legion like scenario was cool. But I don't want mess up the timeline. I could make a custom faction if necessary.

Or I might make characters for existing factions.

@BKburke notable captain, baron, archon, silent fang assassin, pirate mercenary. You could be whichever. It's pretty open.
