He checked his inter-com. He did indeed left it on. No matter now. He clicked it off, speaking to F.R.I.D.A.Y. once again. "That doesn't sound real, that name or that voice, get to the bottom of it." "Yes." F.R.I.D.A.Y. giving a short reply before proceeding with the scans.

"Also, scan all known registries for the registered owner of his ship, El Pezo Negro." "Already on it." Speaking over inter-com again, he said "I don't know if you gave me your correct name, or an alias. That doesn't matter. However, if you happened to have forgotten to also give me a false name on your ship, I should have your name in no time..." He continued "Don't worry about how I took off your cloak. I have my ways. Like my greeting message said, I'm here to respond to the distress signal. I can ask you the same thing. What is a human doing so far from civilization? Why are you here?"

Moments later, F.R.I.D.A.Y. continued on with the inquiry. "Sir, I did find a hit on El Pezo Negro..."

(I'm leaving my post open, I don't want to meta-game here. You can refute it by saying your ship isn't registered : P )

"Hah! Joke's on you, I registered the ship under a different name! Now you have to come down to figure out who I am! On a different note, I'm here because I was passing through and figured may as well do a good thing. Then you showed up and here we are. So I'll put my knife down and you'll meet me in here, deal?" He held up his hand in a (redundant) sign of deal making. "And I haven't done any crimes so you won't find me on a criminal record." He pushed his knife away from him. He took off his hoodie and spun around to show that he had no other weapons on his person. Hopefully, this would pacify whoever this ship's pilot (captain? I don't know) enough into coming down.

Breeze's reptilian eyes flitted across the machine's face. "{...What? Who? Afraid? I-I don't understand.}" There's a slight bit of lag with the last sentence, but it's less than half a second. She glanced over at the hatch their de facto captain popped out of before musing aloud, "{They've...been gone for quite a while. I have a bad feeling about...all of this.}"

"We can agree on the fact that we were both just passing through and thought about just helping out." He checked his camera, noting that the man had dropped his weapon and spun around to show him that he isn't carrying anything else. Clicking off the inter-com, he spoke to his assistant, "Make sure he isn't hiding anything. Switch to HUD mode only, lock ship controls until I return." "Yes."

Speaking through the inter-com again, He said "Alright, I'm coming down, we can have a proper greeting, you without that silly voice modulator, and me without trying to kill you." With a small hop, he stepped off his seat, and approached an door. With a small hiss, the door opened, leading to a hallway.

Stepping through the door, he made sure to lock the entrance to the cockpit behind him, in case the man aboard took him down and wanted to hijack the ship. Approaching another airlock, he clicked into the inter-com through a panel on the wall. "I'll meet you in my dining room. There is only going to be one way down for you, so just follow. I assume you drink, yes? Feel free to call out what you want and it will be waiting for you."

As he finished his sentence, the door hissed open, leading to a bright, clean, albeit smallish, dining room. Pouring himself some water, he waited for the man to approach.

He pressed a button to deactivate the voice modulator."Of course. Can I have a Coke? It's my favorite soda. I'm glad you offered. It's so hard to find some." His modulator slowly shut down as he walked toward the dining room. After his scroll analyzed and confirmed the air was breathable, he took off his mask. "It's handy but sometimes I really don't like that mask. Anyway, you've probably already run voice recognition and are running face recognition so you know who I am, but who are you?" he questioned as he stepped into the room.

He took a sip of his water, making sure that F.R.I.D.A.Y. poured out a coke from the fountain and handed it to the man. Sitting down across from him, he adjusted his mask. "I would take mine off, but I don't think you want to see this ugly mug. I'm not running a facial, or a vocal recognition unless you give me a reason to. My name is Jonathon Bast. A human, by all accounts. I work as a private contractor for the rich and famous. I do just about anything from getting dry cleaning to intergalactic chauffeur duties." Of course, Jhin used an alias, and the fact that he kills people for a living.

"As my ship had already signaled out, welcome aboard Los Lobos, I'm its owner and captain. F.R.I.D.A.Y. poured the coke for you." "Hello" "So, since I'm not running your background, you can come clean with who you are. It seems to me we're both here for the same purpose, which is that distress signal. Which reminds me, F.R.I.D.A.Y., scan all surrounding ships for life signs, I want to make sure what was alive still is, and what wasn't still isn't. Keep the perimeter scanning up as well. I don't want anything sneaking up on us."

Lachesniv

@Pumpkinbot

"I am afraid." Lachesniv repeated, nodding faintly. It turned to survey the ship in detail, its head-plate lenses flickering momentarily. A faint whine filled their room for a couple of seconds while Lachesniv explained itself. "I am not designed to function actively without our Mind for extended periods of time. I was alone for just under a cycle before our chassis shut down. This is not a state I expected to be in when we began to reactivate. I do not want to make any mistakes to endanger us; I am not as well equipped to interact with sentient beings and communities as our Mind is."

Lachesniv kicked up its air thrusters, propelling itself toward a door leading farther into the ship. It anchored itself against the door with its palm. "However I must satisfy reactivation protocols. I must access this vessel's power capacitor. Would you like to keep me company?"

The android turned bodily to watch her, its free-floating arsenal slowly drifting toward it with the same field that kept it affixed to the door. Its lenses flickered again.

"We can share our bad feelings with one another. I for one am concerned that I will have to defend us regardless of whether I am able to reactivate our Mind."

Floats-In-The-Breeze blinked a few more times at Lachesniv. "{What do you mean, you don't have a mind? How are you talking with me right now?}" Her eyes widened for a moment as she mentioned accessing the ship's something-or-other power thingy in the same metaphorical breath as mentioning she had to satisfy something protocols. "{W-Wait, wait, you don't plan on...sucking power out of this ship, do you? What about the guy that owns it? How would he get out of here? I mean, he's..."} She sighed, then, "{He pulled me off that ship. I don't want to...betray him like that.}"

"Okay, fair enough. I am Captain Nilam Blackwell, owner and operator of El Pozo Negro. The A.I. my ship runs is called DIANTO as my ship is a Danube-class. You will probably find a life form on my ship that you may not recognize. She is a Xi'qe, a lizard person. There is also an android named Lachesniv that speaks of Minds. I don't understand that one. Let's see, what else... Oh! I have no criminal record and there is nor recorded evidence of my birth as I am from a less technical world and got off of it with an escape pod I found that had crash landed. I think that's it, any questions?" He toke a sip of his drink and exhaled. "I swear, I'm addicted to this stuff, it's so good."

Lachesniv

@Pumpkinbot@superservo27

"My analysis of this ship's internal systems indicates a less than one per--," Lachesniv broke off, raising its free hand to its chin very deliberately and leaning intently at nothing. "I apologize. Our Mind... the means by which our form of life achieves true sentience is through internal discourse. Individually, Bohah and I are virtually intelligent. As our creators put it, Bohah is the ruminator; myself, the instigator. Without an accord we can not be said to be sentient."

Lachesniv looked up from its thoughts towards Breeze again, its lenses pointed directly at her eyes. She could make out the tiny pinpricks of light for the first time. Perhaps sinister. Perhaps innocent. Certainly not expressive.

"I do not intend to drain the ship's power supply. I mean siphon a small portion to begin a feedback process. At the end of that," Lachesniv turned its attention to a terminal by the door leading deeper into the vessel, palming it, "I can return what power I have drained, my internal systems will be restored and Bohah will be awake. We will be whole."

Breeze slowly took in a deep breath, then nodded. "{If...I-If you're sure. I'll be honest, I...didn't understand much of that. But I'll trust you.}" She glanced around for a moment before replying. "{You should start soon, before the pilot gets back.}"

"Very well Captain Blackwell, who has no criminal record. My name, among those who know is Jhin. If you recognize the name, you should know what I do for a living, or I should say what I used to do for a living. My ship's A.I. is named F.R.I.D.A.Y., if I haven't said that already." Diverting his attention slightly, he spoke to his assistant "F.R.I.D.A.Y., go say hi to DIANTO. Make a new friend for yourself." "Will do." What he meant by that is for his A.I. to attempt to trade some basic information between the two systems. "Now, captain Blackwell, I was originally from Frixion Prime. But I simply live wherever I want to now. Seeing as we're both here on a peace mission. why don't we help each other out and figure out this distress signal? Unless you already know what it is about? Oh, and about the life form on your ship, F.R.I.D.A.Y. is curious about it, seeing as you have information, why don't you ask DIANTO to share that with F.R.I.D.A.Y.? And this other android, have you been able to confirm that it poses no threat to you? I mean, in my experience, when something speak of minds, that means there are more than one of them, and they tend to be up to no good...."

"I actually did figure that out. Apparently, space pirates attacked the crew. A lot of them were vented through the entry hole. The captain was brutally murdered, seeing that made me sick. I found Breeze in a lone airlock. I rescued her, found Lachesniv and here we are. Speaking of, I think Lach is fine. I mean, I found them stuck to the side of the ship. They had some guns on them, but I think it's fine." He paused to take a sip of his drink and exhaled. Truly, Coca-Cola is the drink of kings. "DIANTO can explain the rest." Suddenly, Nilam held out his scroll and waited. A symbol appeared, the symbol for the standard A.I. that come pre installed in every ship in the galaxy. "Of course. Our cold-blooded friend hails from a little-known swamp planet. Whenever she speaks, there may be a bit of waiting as the language is difficult to translate. There may be other things I could tell you but not without being payed." Nilam chuckled at that last bit. "Never change, DIANTO. So yeah that's all you get at the moment. If you want yo can come aboard to see but my ship is pretty small."

Lachesniv

@Superservo27@Pumpkinbot

"{You should start soon, before the pilot gets back.}"

"Indeed. It will be good for you to meet Bohah." The door leading deeper into Nilam's vessel opened presently. LAchesniv dropped his hand and proceeded deeper into the Pozo Negro, not looking back to see if Breeze was following. "It probably won't need you to feed your language through that translator, at least."

It did not take long for the android to find its way to the engineering area of the ship, given its size. Lachesniv's magnetic field hoisted his guns along as it and Breeze meandered. Lachesniv was not... talkative? It was responsive though, and not just to things Breeze might've said. It seemed to mirror her latent anxiety about their situation physically. Ot pointed out turns before the pair came to them and used its thrusters to help her navigate the vessel more quick.y

When they finally arrived, Lachesniv set busily to interacting with a large object encased in dense, opaque alloys and reflective glasses. Lachesniv seemed more animated now than at any other time, and extended his hand into a pixture that seemed to be a power coupling of some sort. Breeze could see his hand appearing to disintigrate before her eyes, giving way to a matching plug as the android interfaced with the power supply of the ship.

Lachesniv looked up from his task, watching Breeze.

"Bohah is also the dominant force between our two halves, and is far more perceptive than I am. In truth, it can not be said that you and I have met yet. That said... I am eager to meet you, {Floats-In-Breeze}." It did an excellent imitation of her language, albeit with the limitations of the android's tinny monotone.

With that, the four optical lenses of the android went dark. There was no sign in the engineering room that anything was happening, save that Lachesniv's magnetic field had obviously gone dark--his weapons were beginning to drift with latent air currents from the ship's ventelation system. Breeze seemed to be alone for now.
