Is it possible to play in the Jerusalem/Palestine Area or is that taken or off limits?

To my knowledge, it is not off-limits; what is your idea?

Excuse me, but how do you expect the state to seize someone's homes and for this to work?

Honestly, reviewing the app it reads more like you're tacking on what I'm saying and not really critically applying any or much of it. It's at the stage that if you really want to be someone in southern Russia does it really need to be a liberal democracy? Frankly, the military order would be more capable of asserting itself. A Kuban Hetmanate would be more viable in the area given the relatively powerful political position of the Cossacks in the area.

Sorry didn’t mean for it to be read as literally siezeing there homes. It was more me saying that I wanted them to be now government employees and work in government workshops.

Also this was a rough draft just to see if it was heading the correct direction. Also the reason most things seem a bit tacked on is that I have been trying to save what little is left from my original. This is rewrite number 10 so at this point I think will just make it worse so I am scraping it and starting again. With probably a new government.

"Secretary of State. He tried to work out some deal with Ethiopia where they would airlift Negroes to safety. It was a fucking back to Africa movement disguised as humanitarian aid. I think the Ethiopians just laughed him off."

Dropping it here, too.

Diplomacy game for the PoW group. If you want in, PM me for the password. There's 5 slots left! Countries are assigned randomly, and player identities are hidden, so it should be a fun session.

If you like... well, diplomacy, then give it a try. It's all about conquering Europe while forming alliances, and backstabbing said allies at the right moment to take the win.

Application is for nations
(OOC: I do need to ground myself in exactly what has transpired in terms of state-lines in Africa... my understanding is that this RP has evolved from 1942 technology (essentially frozen for all intents-and-purposes) and takes place in the 1960's... so I believe this state would make sense. If it doesn't, I can conform to the modified needs)

Nation: The Council of the Congo (CotC)

Location (on map): This would comprise of what was the Belgian Congo (1908-1960)

History: It was with great fanfare that what was once the Belgian Congo Belgisch-Congo, or Congo Belge ceased to be. What it's coming transformation into the Council of the Congo promised, was a demand from the government and the people, that the region be recognized regionally for the economic and military might that it was thought to have.

What the State instead delivered was in effect an unadorned plutocracy with absolute power vested in a small council of regional representatives; the nomination of which was never publicly announced.

Essentially, the CotC has wrested power from the clutches of a ruthless and barbaric colonial Belgium starting with Leopold the Second's bloodsoaked authority and ending with the execution of Baudoin the First's Governor-General, Henri Cornelis.

Having experienced the insanity of the Belgian colonial administration first-hand, many of the Congolese for sick-to-death (many literally) of the daily atrocities and diseases experienced at the behest of the Belgian whites. Most notably, the founding and continued use of the Force Publique.

The steady influx of white Belgians (and other colonial whites) into the Congo region is a point of intense focus for the development of this state in the State.
Many hope that with the transition from a Belgian colonial administration to the African-born (but still white) Council of the Congo, that the quality of life for the average Congolese would improve, healthcare and education would flourish and the bounty of the regions rich resources exploited to the benefit of all.

This is what was hoped for. Unfortunately, what was to be, and what is are often very different things.

Other: Essentially, this state is still dealing with the colonial hangover of a caste of citizens used to using force and violence to achieve their ends. While the CotC does not officially endorse these measures, (particularly where the Force Publique is concerned) the Council is pragmatic and favours expeditious and efficient conclusions to any issues of governance.

I'm a little rusty, writing-wise so please bear with me haha. I used to write rather profusely, but these days with work it has been difficult to get started back up. I'm looking forward to resuming old-habits!

Cheers,
LM

p.s. if this seems a little vague, it is because I aim to explore the concepts behind this change of state and it's ramifications on the populace, in my posts.
If you would like to to clarify anything, please let me know and I would be happy to provide a more detailed explanation or summary!

Can you expand on the practicality on white government in the Congo? I'm no expert, but from what i've read the Congo never really had a fleshed out white bourgeoisie population like the South African nations. I'm not sure a few bureaucrats, missionaries, and steam boat captains could pull together a government.

Of course, I could be wrong, so if you have some info I don't that'd help clear things up.

Didn't they use a relatively privileged army of Black Soldiers, the Force Publique? As well as had support from Belgium itself?

I did. What I took from it was that the entire thing was operated and financed from the outside. The whites actually operating in the Congo were few and far between, present as the teeth of the machine rather than the whole machine itself. When Belgium pulls out, a large chunk of the whites would pull out too. That didn't happen so much in the South African countries because there was a large white gentry tied to the land as farmers, but in the Congo you'd have bureaucrats and operators of the Belgian government with no reason to stay. You'd have what, maybe a few farmers if they are there?? The missionaries would certainly stick around... still, not convinced it'd be enough to form a government.

The numbers on wikipedia put the white population of the Congo in 1959 to be 0.8%, whereas the white population in 1960 in South Africa was 19.3%.

@Vilageidiotx

To add to this, as far as IRL Congo went there wasn't any sort of internal professional population, not even among the blacks who were kept away from education. So when the Belgians pulled out suddenly there was basically no one there with much idea of what to do, and it consistently train wrecked itself as it went along.

So on this, I would perhaps recommend some sort of discussion on a shift in Belgian policy towards the Congo, like a doubling down on administrating it post-war. But I'm no expert, so I'm leaving it mostly to Vilage and company before I make any final says.

It's not impossible. Of course, in a world where WW1 lasts a cartoonish length of time, Belgium is going to be cartoonishly devastated, and I'm not sure they'd have time to recover.

I haven't been posting lately because I had to do an exam, an art project, and a speech last week. Plus, I had to stop by the good old hospital for some personal stuff. Other than that, I am back. And Assassin's Creed Origins and Wolfenstein II came out also sooo

My opinion on Ubisoft is low so I can only make snarky comments about AC. But Machine Games - if they did the second Wolfenstein and if Bethesda hasn't totally devoured them - is brtty dope, but having not yet gotten around to buying Wolf 2 I can only say: bash some fash.
