Bright and bubbly, Hikari has a charming personality. About as upbeat as one could be when stuck in a wheelchair, Hikari prefers not to dull on her disability and all it to distract herself. Caring in all regards, Hikari is no stranger to making friends or conversation with anyone, and is at relative ease when doing so. Nonetheless, kindness can also be a weakness. For instance, while Hikari understands her condition, she struggles when people look down on her because of her disability, treating her as inferior. Alternatively, Hikari also feels responsible for her group's falling apart, each of them going their separate ways shortly after the accident.

While Hikari doesn't focus directly on an instrument (besides a little bit of piano) or composing music, there is one thing she excels at: singing. Her ability to dance to the rhythm may be forever gone, but Hikari has not let her passion for singing to die in a blazing fire. This passion (and her musical talent) landed Hikari an invitation to join those within the Daywing District--a location destined to revitalize the musical youth in Cystra City. Nonetheless, while Hikari may be passionate, she hopes to see the day her friends unite their group, taking the stage once more.

Hikari Whitaker was born as an only child to a former American soldier and a Japanese woman who her father had met during his time in Japan. Enticed with music from childhood, Hikari learned the beauty of music from her mother, who would sing during chores or to put Hikari to sleep with a lullaby. Hikari would sing along with her mother, living a happy childhood as her father would listen to his two girls produce a beautiful harmony. One day, the television was left on, and Hikari was witness to an idol concert being broadcast on the local station. Infatuated with the bright lights and entrancing movements, Hikari fell in love with the idol concept.
Explaining her ideas to her friends, Hikari convinced them to join her on the stage, as well her mother, who provided the troupe with costumes. Beginning locally, Hikari and her friends would sing and dance at various events, such as talent shows or festivals, yet a year after of preforming, Hikari's life would be changed forever. Crossing a street, a truck driver failed to notice Hikari until it was too late, and the skidding truck slammed into her, promptly turning Hikari into a rag doll. Sent flying down the street, Hikari was knocked unconscious, the trauma placing her in a coma for a month in the hospital.
While a number of people--including her friends--sought to support Hikari during this terrible time, she would never be the same. Losing function in her lower body, Hikari was forced to use a wheelchair to move around as result of being paralyzed from the waist down. Not long after the accident, Hikari's friends had decided it would be best to split ways, which left her feeling responsible for the end of her group. However, oddly enough, Hikari had received an invitation to a place by the name of the Daywing District after she awoke from the coma. Eager not to let herself fall prey to depression, Hikari took the offer and moved in, practicing her singing once more.
