Races: Here are the three races of the galaxy. It should be noted interbreeding isn't possible, and though Kalarians and humans may technically have intercourse, it is impossible to bear a child this way.

Humans: Humans are by far the most common race among the stars, and are the most technologically advanced of the races as well as the most physically strong. Humans are common enough among the galaxy that most recognize them instantly. they tend to be the most violent as well. "War isn't just in their blood, it's in their soul."

Kalarians: Kalarians are often referred to as 'Elves' by a fair amount of humans, but using that term is widely regarded as a racial slur. Apart from the pointed ears and the red skin-tones, they look remarkably like humans. While not as strong as humans, they are a bit quicker and average taller. It should be noted that Kalarians tend to dislike plants and are wholly carniverous, for their home Kalaria has very little in the way of plant life, most of the surface consists of red-colored rock in fact. Kalarians are also the only Psychically active race, and have a greater mastery of the mind than other races. They tend to make good doctors as well, as they seem to have an affinity for 'matters of the flesh.'

The Jud: Known as 'stickmen' by less politically correct humans, the Jud are an odd bunch. they are tall, usually reaching eight feet, and have very thin spindly limbs when compared to a human, and a light body. they tend to resemble Terran reptiles as they have scales that come in similar patterns to many earthly snakes, but the head is the odd part. They have four eyes, as well as a vertically oriented mouth with a row of flat teeth. They don't have ears, though they can hear, and the nostrils are located above the mouth. They are incapable of traditional speech, but often carry technology that allows them to speak to the other races. Despite their terrifying appearance, they are the Gentlest of the three. Physically, they are extremely perceptive and have quick reflexes, making them great pilots and excellent marksmen.

RULES:
Standard RPG rules apply.
It should be pointed out that I am the final arbiter of everything, what I say goes.
That being said, we're here to have fun, and just as it's your job to be respectful and fair, it's my job to do the same AND make sure we all have a good time.

Slim's Ship Shack!
You may buy ship parts for the body of your ship! You have ten points to spend, and the body is free. Keep in mind every ship must have two engine slots filled, and things such as life-support and a gravity drive are included and take up no slots.

Character name: Enelya Arcamenel
Position: Co-pilot
Race: Kalarian
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Appearance: 5'9, 98lbs

Bio: Born on Torsun II. Enelya grew up with her parents and two older siblings - a brother and sister. When she was seven her father left her family for another woman and left them in poverty. Her mother couldn't work so her brother and sister had to make money for the family. Enelya was very lonely growing up from then. Her mother was always so ill and constantly slept, so Enelya had to make her own company. The inevitable came when she was 20; her mother died. It was heartbreaking for her and her siblings, but what was more heartbreaking was that no matter how much she tried to get in touch with her father he never returned contact. Enelya decided to break free, she didn't want to stay at home and have to work all day and night just to eat. She wanted to explore everywhere. So that's what she decided to do.
Personality: Enelya is a pleasant character. She has a sweet laugh and is rarely rude. She likes to spend time alone, reading or just thinking, but she loves people -especially children. Most who meet her like her, but she's not easy to remember - she doesn't stick out, she just blends into the background. She doesn't mind too much though.
Gear: Regular handgun.

Skills: Sings, writes poems - especially loves haikus.

Character name: Emonco Patronecea (Pronounced: Ee-mon-so Pahtrun-ee-sea-uh) Called Emon by most people.

Position: Would prefer Engineer or Marine (Defends)

Race: Jud

Gender: Male

Age: 53

Height: 8'6"

Weight: 147 lbs.

Appearance: Emon and his snake both have this color of scales. (Look at the first picture here, http://www.warrenphotographic.co.uk/19632-grass-snake for scale color.)
He has four green eyes, and, due to his luck of getting recessive genetics, his scales are harder than the average Jud (On his home planet).

Bio: Emon was born on the planet of Neelta, a small, desert planet that in inhabited almost entirely by Jud. He had a hard time growing up, as he had very hard, dark scales, where most of the people there had bright, slimy scales, similar to a snake's, due to the climate. He was made fun of for his recessive traits, as were his friends who all had the same condition as him. They were bullied in school, mostly a group of Kalarians that literally hated them. Why, they didn't know, but one day the Kalarians took the group of Jud and threw them into the desert. They surely would have died of dehydration, but a snake slithered of Emon, thinking that it was a good place to hide. The snake moistened his body, and he jumped up, startling the snake. Emon "talked" to the snake, calming it down. He didn't know that it was a venomous snake at the time, but that isn't the point. He ran back to town, finding water and bringing back to his friend. They all went back to town, not saying a word to anyone about the incident. The only evidence that it had happened was the snake, which blended in with Emon's scales, so most people couldn't see it. Emon saw the need for self defense, and he made bladed gauntlets. They were only simple, metal plated gloves with kitchen cutlery in special slots within the metal plating. His friends were so impressed, that he made several other things. Some of which were self defense weapons, whereas some of the things that he made were just items to make life easier, such as a Minecraft-esque pressure plate for their doors. This led him to a need to create, and he made even more. Later on in life, he left his home planet, and went off the find something that he could put his talents towards, so he joined up on small carrier ships, but quit the jobs after pirate attacks, and eventually found his way to a position on a pirates' ship.

Personality: Rather Shy, with aggressive outbursts at times (for a Jud). Not very friendly to relatively new people. Very self conscious. Does not tolerate, even in the slightest degree, being called a stickan. Not very fond of Kalarians, either.

Gear: Marksman Rifle, x2 Karambit (for stealthy situations and close combat) or x2 Hide Out Knifes (for melee combat) or Gladius when he is alerted of intruders, Terran Snake (Similarly colored scales to him.) Wears specially fitted combat armor. (He hangs the gladius near him when he is doing a large project, or fixing anything large, such as an engine.

Skills: Excellent at self defense. He is very shy, which has led him to be good at analyzing things, especially in people's actions which allows him to predict what may happen
better than most others. Emon is very dexterous, and uses several knives for close range combat. He is an excellent marksman, preferring rifles and handguns to shotguns or explosives. Likes making things, he made the sight on his gun by himself using a large eyeglass lens and scrap metal that he found on his home planet. Emon is also great with animals, which has lead him to his personal pet snake, Jarko.

Other: Anything I forgot, or doesn't fit above? Put it here.

We have a co-pilot and an engineer. Who do we still need?

Pilot, captain, gunner and medic, right?

Which one should I be...?

At minimum you need a pilot, a captain, and an engineer.

Other positions include:
Doctor: Obvious. Must be able to treat all three races to qualify for dedicated doctor, but others of course may have medical skills.
Co-pilot: While not mandatory at first, many ships are easier to fly with two people at the wheel. Co-pilots usually handle the logistics side of things, usually monitoring the status of the ship and making adjustments, while the pilot does the flying.
Gunner: while the pilot and co-pilot can operate the guns, most ships benefit from someone dedicated to doing the shooting. In addition, some ships have turrets that must be manned.
Chef: The chef make the food. Also, all species can eat the same food, but Kalarians are carnivorous and require meat.
Janitor: The janitor cleans the ship, and is able to provide limitless cosmic wisdom. apparently. Also, tend to know martial arts.
Marine: Big angry soldier guys. They board ships, defend ships, and are a no-brainer when you need a ground team. Try to have two if possible, and always keep at least one on the ship.
Co-captain: not a job itself, but the captain may elect anyone to be the co-captain, who becomes acting captain if something were to happen to him/her.

Well, it looks nice. I did say a description of the appearance was necessary in addition to the picture, but it looks good so far. Although you might have to be the primary pilot if we don't have anyone else.
Also, if you don't know already, Kalarians have skin tones of various shades of red, are carniverous, prefer deserts, and may or may not have psychic powers.

Username: Warrior in the Shadows
Character name: Otis Yates
Position: Marine or Gunner
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 30
Appearance:
He has blue eyes, is 5'8'', 179 lbs of athletic muscle.
His combat loadout is along these lines.

Just in case the picture above isn't working

Bio: He was born on the planet Carthago IV, a very desolate planet, hot and dry. Take Texas and put it into an entire planet and that's Carthago IV. The wildlife is most of the time dangerous. The people who are raised there tend to be the toughest, and usually don't leave, as many take up ranching for a living. Otis was a special case, as he enlisted in the Terran Marines and served for several years, fighting strange and fantastical enemies as well as typical human enemies. He's been deployed to some of the worst planets in the Universe and has become very resilient as a result.
After he left the Terran Marines, he became a security contractor as well as a part time gunsmith on Torsun II and seemed to get stuck there, looking for a quick way out.

Personality: He's usually rather terse, and can be very insensitive or awkward when he has to focus on mechanical work and someone attempts to converse with him. Even so, when he is relaxing after a hard days work, he is an enjoyable person to be around. He just likes to keep his business and social life separate. Business before pleasure.
Gear: He has quite a selection of weapons in his personal collection:
-Barrett M82
-IMI Tavor
-AA12
-H&K MP7
-Beretta 92FS
Skills: Gunsmithing. Firearms training with just about every firearm. Combat training. Basic Infantry training. Advanced Infantry Training. He has plenty of welding experience. Some ship welding, but mostly farm equipment.

Ooh, nice. Clever of you guys to put either/or in your job slot, that way people are more likely to get something they want. Well, he looks good but i'd say limit your weapons to about four or five choices for now. as for content, any of those guns are alright. However, I won't stop you, but if you plan on doing any boarding, I'd suggest shotguns for the task, and would recommend not taking assault rifles 'til you have a sealed combat suit. You might punch a hole in the, uh, hull. Buckshot isn't as bad though.

somehow I think ships would be designed so that the hulls could bear that damage by this time period, because of meteor showers and floating rocks and small debris. I think a better reason would be ricochet, because the 5.56 round does have a tendency to ricochet anyways.

Good point. Maybe not hull breaches, but you'd likely punch through walls and hit important subsytems.

Hey, do ya have any room for lil' me?

Kind of curious of whether or not you have any pictures of the Jud, I'd love to make one as my character and all, but drawing a picture of one is difficult when I'm not 100% sure what kind of appearance you're looking for. Or shall I just follow the description you gave for the race and just make something up?

I'm most interested in making my guy a doctor, but we'll see what happens once I actually get to the CS.

Sorry for the ramblies. I hope that I'll get to join in, though.

No, I don't have any pictures, sorry. But have a go at a description! For reference, Juds scales tend to have similar patterns to snakes on earth.

All right, slim's ship shack is open for business! you guys have ten points to spend constructing your ship! However, you effectively have eight points as you must at least buy two engines. I would also recommend a weapon.
