@Grimhildr True. Maybe track a person by if they are subscribed to a thread? Add them to a group that the GM can then organize however he wants. (Members, helpers, lurkers, etc .. )

hm, that could potentally work. you'd still run the risk of tagging someone who only subscribed to read the ic progress, but that would probably be a minor problem at best. i guess it's just up to mahz.

If you're subscribed, you already get a ping whenever someone posts, so it almost seems like it would be a bunch of coding for the exact same result as what happens already.

@Vec if I remember the contents of this thread correctly, adding users to a 'players' group for each RP has been suggested before, as part of the more advanced GM tools, but I'd imagine that is a long way off. That system would be a prerequisite to what you are asking. Otherwise, as @NuttsnBolts said, the closest thing we have is Subscriptions sending notifications whenever a new post is made. Sending an extra notification via the Subscriptions system might be superfluous.

Although, perhaps it could still be used. Regular Subscriptions notifications just get bundled up into 'unread posts'. You already get additional notifications if someone in a subscribed thread quotes or mentions you. So a possible feature is: When a GM/Co-GM makes a post, perhaps they could have the option to flag it as an announcement, which tells the Subscriptions system to send an additional notification to ensure that people checking their notifications notice that an announcement has been made and it doesn't get lost among other posts.

Although, that might be more effort than its worth to implement, especially if it's really just a patch until a more advanced system can be put into place.

I believe the original idea was that once an interest check was made, the GM could make the RP, link it to the interest check and it would notify the user of the new OOC.

Perhaps something could be added that automatically subscribes you to the OOC thread? It would only do so if you posted in the interest check initially so GMs can't spam people subscription box, and the GM can only do it once so it doesn't become a tool to annoy users.

ideally, such a system would also allow for differentiation of the notifications on the bar thingy.

For those in slower RPs, knowing whether the notification is for non-RP threads, OoC posts or IC posts is rather relevant.

oh shit you have a point.

personally, i don't think we need an automated system for something as simple as subscribing to a topic, especially since gms often tag everyone who expressed interest to alert them that they made the ooc. but that's just my two cents.

I think it's the tagging everyone bit that we're trying to phase out since it's a bit of a waste of time.

@Mahz

Hi Mahz,

Over the last few days, when I am using the mobile version, it will not show pictures. It acts like the person has not applied any picture but when I look on my PC, the picture is clearly there. I was not sure where I should report this or if you were aware of the problem yet as it has only happened very recently.

Thank you!

might be a problem with your mobile or your browser, most likely your browser if the problem has only just started. i use an adblock on mobile (sorry mahz ;c) but the pictures still show for me.

therefore, i'm contractually obligated to ask: what phone do you use and what browser do you use on said phone?

potentially a glitch with safari, then. does safari support addons or anything? because an addon update might have rendered images invisible.

Depending on the image as well, sometimes they may not show on mobile. This seems to be rare though and only when the URL of the image doesn't end with .jpg, .png, or .gif. Imgur would be a good example as their URLs may either lead to the image directly, or to a page containing the image.

or if it's a video gif generated by imgur, in the .gifv format. i hate .gifv images with a passion. however, they did mention it was only a recently occurring problem, so it may not have been the image url. also, if it was an error with the image url, it wouldn't have appeared on pc, which it does.

The UI is nice and an added bonus is that sometimes icons on RPG change into emoji for no reason which is funny.
